10021991 Mercedes-Benz 300CE 24vReg. no. J36 OPJChassis no. 1240512B562298Engine no. 10498022028251Transmission: AutomaticMileage: 155,000The W124 Mercedes platform was a great success for the German marque produced from 1985 – 1997, and the model was made in saloon, estate, coupe and convertible variants. Mercedes released the cars with various innovations including a plastic undercarriage to produce a flat floor, reducing the drag and in turn reducing wind noise and increasing fuel efficiency. These stylish pillarless coupes are powered by a super smooth 6-cylinder 3-litre M104 engine producing 220bhp. This unit produced more than enough power to waft along effortlessly and occupants enjoyed all the options that came with a top spec. coupe of this era including air conditioning, cruise control, heated seats and those iconic seat belt systems that bring the belt towards the front passenger upon turning the ignition.Currently on 153,000 miles, not a worrying amount for these big sixes, this example has just minor imperfections to the bodywork. The car has been owned by its current custodian since 2018 but has only seen 90 miles in that time, its MOT expired in 2020. The sale includes a current V5 and a quantity of history for previous parts and work completed. Having been off the road for a couple of years it will require light recommissioning, such as a service. This is a future classic in the making that should require minimal work to enjoy. The registration plate is included with the sale.* Amendment Although the car turns over it currently fails to start. The vendor spent some money having it investigated thinking it maybe the immobiliser which has now been de-activtated.Estimate: £2,500 - 3,500To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on October 15th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. Viewing is welcome prior to sale and all cars are sold as seen. Lots are not available to buy prior to auction. A fully illustrated catalogue is available on the Richard Edmonds Auction website. Bids can be left with the auctioneer, made online, by telephone or live in person. All lots are subject to commission.Vehicles that are un-registered or on foreign plates may require Import Duty and VAT to be paid upon purchase via HMRC prior to registering with the DVLA for a UK plate, if you are not sure please ask. For classic cars over 30 years this equates to 5% Duty on the final value.

Lot 1025

10251997 BMW Z3 1.9Reg. no. R115 OMFChassis no. WBACH72010LD80072Engine no. 06118668Transmission: ManualMileage: 101,000The Z3 was produced from 1996 - 2002, based on the BMW e36 platform, it was designed to battle it out in the drop top market with the likes of the Toyota MR2, Mercedes SLK and Mazda MX5. Its muscular style body with louvres in the front wings gave a more masculine look than most convertibles of its era. This particular example sports the M44 1.9 engine with a manual gearbox. The silver paintwork with black hood and interior suit the car well sat on five spoke, silver alloy wheels. The car has just had a fresh MOT and comes with a current V5C and some supporting history. The MOT required two tyres which have been fitted and it was advised that the restraint system warning light does not illuminate. Although the paint has some scratches on the bumpers, the body looks to be solid, whilst the roof and rear screen are in good order, as is the interior considering its age. The driver’s window does not rise to the top due to a window motor issue.Estimate: £1,500 – 2,500To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on October 15th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. Viewing is welcome prior to sale and all cars are sold as seen. Lots are not available to buy prior to auction. A fully illustrated catalogue is available on the Richard Edmonds Auctions website. MASTER OF ALZIRA (GASPAR GODOS, 1480-1547)."Altarpiece of the Angelic Principalities", ca.1520.Oil on panel.Restored.Provenance: Convent of the Consolation in Xàtiva (Valencia).Attached certificate of authenticity issued by José Gómez Frechina, Sept. 2022.Measurements: 212 x 160 x 18 cm (with frame). An important large Valencian Renaissance panel, which, as the attached study certifies, was made by the Master of Alzira (Gaspar Godos). It is an altarpiece of the Angelic Principalities from the Dominican convent of La Consolación in Xátiva. The Guardian Angel of Valencia presides over the composition, with a studied symmetrical arrangement based on numerous figures arranged in two strata: the earthly and the divine, separated by a landscape open to bluish mountains, with a low horizon. In the upper part, the angel, guardian of Valencia and its kingdom, whose attributes are the crown and the sword, is accompanied by archangels (we recognise Michael the Archangel in the one wearing a cross and military armour) and choirs placed at different levels of depth, with only the angelic heads appearing in the furthest ones. All of them wear golden crowns. In the lower area, men and women are distributed on a stony ground, separated by gender. Their attitudes, from left and right, as in the celestial zone, are replicated as in a mirror, but with subtle variations. The two kneeling figures (male and female) in the foreground probably represent the donors. The others represent different social classes and categories: bishops, priests, knights, saints, a Dominican nun... A mixtilinear arch crowns the upper part, with mouldings decorated with Italian-influenced vine leaves. In the folds of the angels' tunics, tied with cincture, in the delicate drawing of the bare feet and the rigorous profiles of the faces, as well as in the bright, vivid palette, clear concomitances can be seen with works from the pictorial corpus of the Master of Alcira (see Saint Michael the Archangel, ca. 1530, now in the Valencia Museum of Fine Arts, or the Allegory of the Passions, Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest). The stylistic attribution of this altarpiece of the Angelic Principalities to the Master of Alzira was proposed by Diaz Padrón and Padrín Mérida in 1983. The panel has also been identified with a work described in two texts on the artistic heritage of the Convent of La Consolación in Xàtiva: "Las tablas de las iglesias de Játiva" (Elías Tormo, 1912) and the Catálogo monumental y artístico de la provincia de Valencia, written by González Simancas (Tomás Navarro Library, CSIC).An anonymous painter active in the Valencia region in the second quarter of the 16th century is known by the name of Maestro de Alcira. He played an important role in the development of the Renaissance in Valencia, where the humanist circle at the court of Ferdinand of Aragon was very receptive to artistic innovations from Italy and Flanders. The Master of Alcira has been identified with the painter Gaspar Godos (active in Aragon and Valencia) in a detailed study by Antonio Gómez Arribas. This study, published in 2019, has been well received by historiography, to which documentary details have been added to support this thesis (Mercedes Gómez-Ferrer, 2021). The similarity of styles between the master of Alcira (so called after the attribution of the altarpiece of the Virgin of the church of San Agustín de Alcira, 1527) and the author of the altarpiece of the Nativity of the Monastery of Cabas and that of Almas, preserved in the MNAC), has justified the identification of the anonymous master with Godos. Gómez-Ferrer has also pointed to his apprenticeship in the workshop of Pere Cabanes (Valencia, active in 1469-1528).The cross-braced structure that supports the pine boards is characteristic of Valencian panels of the period.

The model is recognizable by its lack of date feature, allowing the dial to have a well-balanced design. Early examples of the 5513 featured a glossy black dial with gilt text, and in the mid-1960's, Rolex started producing the reference with a matte dial and white printing. These dials featured the depth rating with meters indicated first '200m=660ft', and towards the end of the 1960's, Rolex began producing dials with the depth rating that indicated feet first. The matte dial reference 5513 appeals to vintage Rolex enthusiasts for its dial symmetry, durability, and place in Rolex history as inspiration for future Submariner models. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Rolex. Belle montre bracelet en acier avec date mouvement automatiqueRolex. A fine stainless steel automatic calendar bracelet watch Model: Sea-DwellerReference: 1665Date: Circa 1973Movement: 26-jewel Cal.1570 automatic, adjusted to 5 positions and temperature, No.D809238Dial: Black, luminous dot hour markers, baton quarters, white outer minute divisions, date aperture at 3, polished Mercedes hands with luminous inserts, centre secondsCase: Brushed and polished tonneau form, screw down back and shouldered crown, inside back date coded I.72 and 469, helium escape valve at 9, calibrated bi-directional bezel, No.3650469Strap/Bracelet: Brushed 93150 Oyster link, end links stamped 593Buckle/Clasp: Signed folding clasp, stamped S X6Signed: Case, dial & movementSize: 40mmFootnotes:The Rolex Sea-Dweller was first launched in the 1967 having been specially developed for deep-sea divers. Saturation divers who had previously been issued with Rolex Submariners found that during decompression, the pressure inside the watch would force its way out through the weakest point which usually resulted in the loss of the plexiglass. In response to this, Rolex developed the Sea-Dweller. With a helium escape valve on the side, a greater depth rating of 610 meters and the removal of the cyclops from the crystal, the Sea-Dweller is a true tool watch and has been favoured by professional divers ever since its introduction. This particular version of the reference 1665 succeeded the Double Red Sea-Dweller in 1977. The most noticeable difference was that the red text on the dial was replaced with white text, earning the watch the nickname of 'Great White' amongst collectors. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
