(†)Provenienz:Modena, Sammlung L. Relined. 53.8 x 72.6 cm.In ornamental frame decorated with reliefs and gilt. This beautiful painting by Giambattista Tiepolo. It is the preparatory model for one of four paintings the artist was commissioned to create for the royal collections in Dresden by Count Francesco Algarotti on behalf of Augustus III, King of Poland, and Elector of Saxony. The original work on which the present canvas painting is based has been lost, while the other three in the series survive. These are the Banquet of Anthony and Cleopatra in Melbourne, the Triumph of Flora in San Francisco, and the Maecenas presenting the Liberal Arts to Emperor Augustus in Leningrad.
