The model is recognizable by its lack of date feature, allowing the dial to have a well-balanced design. Early examples of the 5513 featured a glossy black dial with gilt text, and in the mid-1960's, Rolex started producing the reference with a matte dial and white printing. These dials featured the depth rating with meters indicated first '200m=660ft', and towards the end of the 1960's Rolex began producing dials with the depth rating that indicated feet first as with the present example. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Saturation divers who had previously been issued with Rolex Submariners found that during decompression, the pressure inside the watch would force its way out through the weakest point which usually resulted in the loss of the plexiglass. In response to this, Rolex developed the Sea-Dweller. With a helium escape valve on the side, a greater depth rating of 610 meters and the removal of the cyclops from the crystal, the Sea-Dweller is a true tool watch and has been favoured by professional divers ever since its introduction. This particular version of the reference 1665 succeeded the Double Red Sea-Dweller in 1977. The most noticeable difference was that the red text on the dial was replaced with white text, earning the watch nickname 'Great White' amongst collectors. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Delightfully presented 280SL 'Pagoda' from long-term ownership.Original UK RHD car with an extensive history file including nearly 40 older MOT Certificates and detailed service records supporting the indicated mileage of 84,754With its last owner for almost 24 years, during which time the service history was fastidiously maintained including an engine and gearbox rebuild by renowned specialistsClassically presented in Midnight Blue with a matching factory hardtop and recently renewed navy blue soft topRecent new interior in beige which included a rear seat option being fittedFreshly serviced including plugs, leads, points and tappets. All the qualities that made Pagodas so desirable in their heyday remain today - chic styling, Teutonic build quality, and predictable handlingThe Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Pagoda' (W113) was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through until February 1971 before being replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350SL. Over the years, the W113 had quietly evolved from a nimble 'sports car' into a comfortable 'Grand Tourer' and was usually equipped with four-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. The final evolution of the Pagoda was the 280SL, launched in November 1967 with a host of technical improvements, and is now seen as the most refined iteration of the W113 Series with its robust new seven-bearing, 2778cc, M130 engine developing 170bhp and perfectly suiting the automatic transmission. By the time production ceased in March 1971, some 23,885 had been made making the 280SL the most popular of all W113 variants. The fabulous 280SL on offer here is an original, UK-supplied right-hand drive car elegantly presented in Midnight Blue with a matching factory hardtop and recently renewed Navy Blue soft top. The interior has recently been superbly retrimmed in Cream leather with Light Biscuit carpets piped in cream and, unusually, it's been fitted with a rear seat (California-style) where the parcel shelf was.First registered in 1968, it has been enjoyed by just three owners prior to our vendor who acquired the Mercedes in 1998 and during those 23 years has fastidiously maintained it including an engine and gearbox rebuild by well-regarded specialists. The current indicated mileage of 84,574 is supported by detailed service records and nearly 40 older MOT Certificates. We understand that it's recently been serviced including plugs, leads, points and tappets. The Cherished Registration number 86 BPO will remain on the car. With decent performance and excellent brakes, these cars are totally happy in modern traffic making them a perfectly usable Classic in the true sense of the word. The 280SL has never gone out of fashion but interest - and values - have never been stronger than they are today. UK-supplied to a foreign head of state for occasional London use. 5,037 miles complemented by a main dealer service history.UK-supplied in Nautical Blue metallic paint with beige leather interior and registered on 16th November 1993Bought by a foreign royal family for use in London and subsequently garaged at a residence on the Kensington Palace Gardens estate until 2021Used sparingly for 28 years the odometer reading is 5,037 (atoc) at the time of cataloguingIntroduced in 1993 as the 600SL the six-litre V12 engine topped the range, it was then re-named the SL600 in 1994As part of a substantial UK-based fleet and used sparingly, regular servicing was not necessary and the service book has ten Mercedes-Benz main dealer stampsFully serviced in October 2021 at a Mercedes-Benz main dealer with new tyres fitted to refurbished alloy wheelsSupplied to auction with factory hard-top, history file and MOT valid until September 2022 this 600SL may well be unique with its low mileage and royal provenance. In 1989, Mercedes Benz introduced the fourth generation SL model, the R129, which was supplied in Europe with several engine options and named accordingly; the basic model was the 190hp three litre, inline six cylinder 300SL with 12 valves, and the 228hp three litre, inline six cylinder with 24 valves, known as the 300SL 24. The specification was high with electric windows, mirrors, seats and roof. The R129 model was the first convertible/roadster to offer the automatic roll-bar deployment in event of rollover, although the motorist could also manually raise and lower the roll-bar should he choose to thus facilitating the clean look of the R129 without compromising the occupant's safety. The 1993 introduction of the 389hp, six-litre V12 600SL engine topped the range, later to be re-named the SL600 in 1994. Production numbers for the UK-supplied 600SL are difficult to ascertain but the consensus is that a small percentage of the global production were registered new in Britain and online resources show some 180 examples are either taxed or SORNd currently.UK-supplied in Nautical Blue metallic paint, coded 929U for the upper coachwork and coded 929O for the lower panels, in keeping with the two-tone paintwork of the era. The factory hard top is painted in the same shade as the upper body. The beige leather interior (275A) has front seats with orthopaedic backrests with the car sporting other extras of the day. Registered on 16th November 1993 with the licence number “L441 VLH” and supplied for the use of a foreign head of state and his family when in residence at their London base. We are led to believe the car’s ownership was subsequently transferred to a trusted aide in 2011, in whose London based collection the car resided until 2021. At the time of consignment a yellow badge displaying a crown, calligraphed “KPG”, the number 20, KPG in bold, the car’s registration number of “L441 VLH” and the year 2021 was affixed to the windscreen, which we are informed is a parking permit for the Kensington Palace Gardens estate. We have offered to auction a number of UK-supplied cars delivered to international royalty that have been used at their pleasure whilst visiting London, and driven relative to the car’s “newness” in period. It is often the custom to transfer the car’s ownership to trusted aides and family friends after a couple of years. Befitting a car that was hardly used but owned by an immensely wealthy visiting royal family it was serviced accordingly and the ten main dealer Mercedes-Benz stamps are in accordance with usage, whilst the MOT history show incremental mileage increases, with the last MOT certificate issued on the 1st September 2021 at 5,037 miles. It was noted that the tyres are to showing signs of age and the car is supplied to auction with new tyres and refurbished alloy wheels. In October 2021 a Mercedes-Benz main dealer service is planned with the instruction to rectify any issues possibly arising from occasional, but regular, use of a 29-year old car in the intervening years since delivery.Presented to auction in superb order with factory hard-top, smart mohair soft-top in dark blue, history file complete with service book and recent 2021 service information. Whilst we acknowledge that the R129 was produced in a great number and the market is familiar with higher mileage standard examples of the model we must note that this car is perhaps unique in mileage, specification and royal provenance. We conclude by challenging the market to finding another example of the range topping 600SL with royal provenance and low mileage. SpecificationMake: MERCEDESModel: 600SLYear: 1993Chassis Number: WDB1290762F083498Registration Number: L441VLHTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 12098122002821 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 5037 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Beige LeatherClick here for more details and images

A top-of-the-range, S-Class LWB with just 6,500 miles, a single former keeper and dutiful ownership.A £70,000-plus marvel of a motorcar in 2006, just 6,500 miles ago, now guided £15,000 - £20,000Mercedes always uses the halo S-Class model as a showcase for its latest technology and refinement, with the latest W221 version of 2006, the first S-Class of the new millennium, it was no exceptionAt launch, it was lauded by Autocar magazine as unquestionably the best car in the class, and arguably the most complete road car in historyThe 5461cc V8 is mated to a 7-speed gearbox producing an effortless 388bhp, giving a 0-62mph time of just 5.6secsA discreet LWB 5.2m grand saloon where build-quality, refinement and technology are paramountThe Mercedes-Benz S-Class is amongst the world’s most revered luxury cars and it’s only really Rolls-Royce, Bentley and possibly Mercedes' own Maybach that could truly claim to trump it for reputation, but with those all being more than twice as expensive, that’s hardly surprising. You could argue that what makes the S-Class special is its history but, in reality, it’s the fact that Mercedes uses the S-Class as a showcase for its latest technology that makes it stand out. With this incarnation of the S500, Mercedes paid obsessive attention to tranquillity whilst driving, giving a driving experience like no other. Never has a driver felt so remote from the outside world, and yet remained connected to the car to such a degree. The 2006-2013 (W221) S-Class is no different. For example, it was available with infra-red night vision, seats that massage their occupants and a pre-collision assist system of a type that’s taken almost a decade to become commonplace on other cars. After reports of dubious build quality linked to the previous S-Class, Mercedes went to town on, not only the design of the interior, but also its fit and finish. There was also a larger boot than before (think estate car space in a saloon body) and there’s enough room in the back seats to stretch out, particularly if you choose a long-wheelbase car.The engine range at launch included three petrols, the pick of them undoubtedly being the 388bhp, 5461cc V8 mated to a 7-speed gearbox offering a 0-62mph time of just 5.6 seconds, as fitted to the 2006 Mercedes-Benz S500L for sale here. It has covered just over 6,500 miles from new with its two owners and has visited Mercedes for at least two services. Classically painted for a Mercedes, this impressive yet somehow still discreet limo-esque car is now superfluous to our vendor’s needs as he spends most of his time living overseas. This is a lot of car for its guide price, astonishing really.  SpecificationMake: MERCEDESModel: S500Year: 2006Chassis Number: WDD2211712A066266Registration Number: WM51 WMMTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 27396130047194Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 2509 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A beautiful, right-hand drive, 280SL Pagoda 2+2 on offer from 40-years of private ownership.Highly sought after right-hand drive, automatic 280SL Pagoda from 40 years caring ownershipData suggests that less than 10% of Pagodas manufactured were finished as California Coupes with occasional 2+2 seatingPresented in sparkling Silver Metallic with a matching factory hard-top, red leather seats and red carpetsSubject to a detailed and beautifully finished, award-winning restoration (MB Club "Best car on stand" – 2007)Comprehensive history file with buff log-book, a wealth of old MOTs and invoices for service and maintenance Presented to the auction after a light recommission by CMC in Bridgnorth and a fresh MOTOffered from a deceased estate at a sensible guideThe Mercedes-Benz 280SL (W113) 'Pagoda' was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through until February 1971 before being replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350SL. Over the years, the W113 quietly evolved from a nimble 'sports car' into a comfortable 'grand tourer' and was usually equipped with four-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. The final evolution of the Pagoda was the 280SL, launched in November 1967 with a host of technical improvements, and is now seen as the most refined iteration of the W113 Series with the robust new seven-bearing, 2778cc, M130 engine developing 170bhp and perfectly suiting the automatic transmission.Offered here is a lovely, UK-supplied, right-hand drive 280SL 'Pagoda' California Coupé 2+2 finished in sparkling Metallic Silver with a colour matching hard-top, red leather interior and matching red trim. Our vendor's late husband purchased this Pagoda in 1981 and in the mid ‘80s some remedial works were completed to keep the car at its best. The Pagoda was enjoyed frequently until 1999 when the decision was made to instruct a full restoration by Shropshire-based Mercedes specialist , Classic Affair, and this process was documented, stage by stage, with supporting photographs. As a Mercedes-Benz Club UK member, our vendor's husband attended many events showing his Pagoda and such was the quality of the restoration that the car won several awards including the M-B Club " Best car on the Stand, 2007".Dry stored correctly over the years, the restoration has mellowed nicely and the Pagoda still presents very well. After a small period of time off the road, the decision was made to have the car checked over and MOTd by the highly-regarded classic specialists, CMC, before being presented for auction at the Classic Motor Show.Accompanying this venerable Mercedes is a comprehensive history file containing the aforementioned photographic record of the restoration, MB Club UK awards, the 'buff' logbook, a wealth of old MOTs, the current MOT and V5C and other related invoices and paperwork from over the years.A right-drive 280 SL Pagoda is highly sought after and rightfully so, and this lovely example is offered at a very reasonable guide and is now ready for the next chapter after 40 years of caring private ownership.SpecificationMake: MERCEDESModel: 280 SLYear: 1968Chassis Number: 11304422000352Registration Number: TGY 280FTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 13098322000223 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 16756 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: RedClick here for more details and images
