Lot 104

2002 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG Kompressor Transmission: Mileage:80602The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two door convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! This Supercharged version of the Mercedes SL was registered in October 2002.Originally blue, this SL was professionally wrapped by Evolution Customs in Dunfermline in 2015 and now presents stunningly as a replica of a Formula One pace car in silver, red and black. This sleek look is enhanced with black alloys and AMG decals. This head-turning Mercedes is offered to auction with a V5C registration and a fresh MoT test certificate and is available without reserve.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.Interested parties should note that the roof mechanism on this vehicle is not working.

Lot 112

1978 Triumph Stag Transmission: automaticMileage:84772Launched in 1970, the Triumph Stag was a luxury grand tourer. Envisioned as a luxury sports car, it was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés but for structural rigidity and to meet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag required a B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. A new 2.5 litre, V8 designed and developed by Triumph's Harry Webster was later enlarged to 2,997cc. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox although manual gearboxes with overdrive were available. Electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes were fitted as standard. This well-prepared example was registered new on 20th April 1978 and is presented in good order throughout having recently been treated to various maintenance work. Offered in Old English White over a contrasting interior, this Stag is reported to drive well and sounds fantastic when on song. Complete with various sundry invoices and the UK registration document, this well-priced and handsome Triumph Stag, with automatic gearbox, will carry you elegantly through the summer.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 114

1978 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Transmission: automaticMileage:72938The R107 and C107 took the chassis components of the mid-size Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the W116 S-Class. The SL version was a two-seat roadster with standard soft top and hardtop with optional folding seats for the rear bench. The SLC (C107) derivative was a two-door hardtop coupé with normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an SL coupé, but in reality it was an S-Class coupé, replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coupé in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. Volume production of the first R107 car, the 350 SL, started in April 1971 alongside the last of the W113 cars; the 350 SLC followed in October. Sales in North America began in 1972, with the name 350 SL, but with a larger 4.5 litre V8 engine and were renamed 450 SL/SLC for model year 1973; the big V8 engine became available in other markets with the official introduction of the 450 SL/SLC in March 1973. US cars sold from 1972 until 1975. From July 1974 both SL and SLC could also be ordered with a fuel-injected 2.8 litre straight-six as 280 SL and SLC. September 1977 saw the introduction of the 450 SLC five litre featuring a new all-aluminium five-litre V8 engine, aluminium alloy doors, bonnet and boot lid and a black rubber rear spoiler. These handsome C107 coupés are becoming quite rare in such condition. Well presented in silver with a superb Olive Green velour interior, this example has had just five owners. The current vendor reports that the paintwork is in largely very good condition with just a few minor blemishes as is the interior which is very good for its age. Offered with a sizeable history file detailing previous maintenance work and MoT tests certificates, the Mercedes-Benz service booklet and the UK registration document. With all the qualities of the convertible R107 and two extra seats these SLCs are really starting to come of age. This wonderful example is in very good order and is imminently usable for the new owner.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 122

1983 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Transmission: automaticMileage:Introduced in early 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The body and chassis of the third generation SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor but it still showed a resemblance. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generations of SLs, the vehicle came as an open roadster with a removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during the production run. This well looked after example is presented inmetallic goldpaintwork over a tan leather interior. The general condition of the Mercedes is very good, the paint retains a deep shine but does have some minor blemishes as you would expect of a car of this age. The interior is in very good order. Purchased by the current vendor to partake in various road rallies throughout Europe the car was unfortunately never used as intended, instead being exercised occasionally during the summer months. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until 29thJune 2021, the sale of this Autobahn cruiser promises to give miles and miles of enjoyment to its next owner.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 130

1995 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Mille Miglia Transmission: automaticMileage:55200These days, Mercedes has not released too many limited edition models outside of their in house tuning arm, AMG. Before the days of AMG proliferation, Mercedes would release a special edition model from time to time, such as this 1995 SL500 Mille Miglia. Built to commemorate Stirling Moss’s win of the historic 1955 Mille Miglia road race. This R129, available as an SL320 or SL500, was available only in brilliant Silver Metallic, equipped with Evo II six-spoke polished alloys and a red and black leather interior complemented by carbon fibre trim. The side bumper grilles were also given a rather unique chequered flag treatment that, upon close inspection, is a clever collection of chrome squares. This right hand drive example has covered a mere 55,200 miles from new and is presented in absolutely fantastic overall condition. Boasting just one former keeper, it was supplied by Cruickshank Mercedes of Bristol to its first owner in September 1995 who enjoyed the car for 19 years. It was then sold to the second owner by Mercedes-Benz Bristol as a used approved car in 2014. Options fitted to the vehicle are auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors, automatic air conditioning, electric/heated front seats, rear seats with seat belts and headlamp cleaning system. The car is described by the vendor as ‘in excellent all-round condition with everything working and it drives as it should’. It comes with a lovely history file along with documentation of the Mille Miglia race, the stamped service book, a file of invoices and roof stand. The last service was only 350 miles ago and the current MoT test certificate is valid until March 2022 with all previous advisories having been attended to. With low mileage and so few owners, this car is surely one to put away for the future with R129 prices on the rise.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 132

2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Transmission: automaticMileage:85634With a 0-60mph time of six seconds, the 4973cc, R129 Mercedes-Benz SL500 carried on the tradition of the fast and reliable grand touring convertible. A fully operating electric hood, windows, door mirrors and seats made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The fifth generation SL was in production between 2002 and 2008 and featured the all-new retractable hardtop - an important feature for those British showers! Mercedes-Benz followers were impressed with the stability of the car with the hardtop in place and the ease at which they could remove it. Such was its success; the SL is still one of the leading cars in the Mercedes-Benz range. This car features the very capable 5.0 litre 302bhp V8 powerplant mated to a standard automatic gearbox. This sleek looking Mercedes was originally registered in September 2002. During the vendors tenure which started in 2015, this SL500 has been used infrequently and always dry stored. The car fired into life when requested and the impressive power hood works smoothly. The history file for this V8 powered Mercedes includes the owner’s book pack, a well stamped service history, various bills and receipts and previous MoT test certificates. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, a fresh MoT test certificate and including the cherished number plate, this impressive Mercedes is offered without reserve.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 136

1974 Mercedes-Benz 230 Limousine Transmission: automaticMileage:63000The name Limousine or Limo, as they are popularly known, originated from the Limousin region in central France from a type of hood worn by the population that resembled the covering for a carriage. Later, it was known as the cover for the driver on an automobile, while today, it is known as a luxury vehicle that has a longer frame and wheelbase to accommodate more space behind the driver, at times more than is needed. There are also models that are stretched to accommodate further passengers and include a further seating arrangement behind the driver. These seats face forward and may be folded in the down (and out of the way) position. In general limousines have either six or eight seats - the Mercedes-Benz 230 being one of these. The W114/W115 models were the first post-war Mercedes-Benz production car to use a newly engineered chassis, not derived from preceding models. The new chassis format of semi-trailing rear arms and balljoint front end would be used in all new Mercedes passenger car models until the development of the multi-link rear suspensions of the 1980’s.Originally registered on 1st May 1974, this W114 Limousine is finished in white with tan leather interior. The bodywork is in reasonable order, the interior, finished in tan leather, is particularly smart but for a tear in the driver’s seat. The middle (jump) seat folds away easily to leave enormous legroom for the rear passengers. Owned as part of a private collection, the car has been continually maintained and dry stored when not in use and subject to a recent engine rebuild with the power is delivered by the 2292cc six-cylinder petrol engine. This 230 Limousine is offered for sale with a V5C registration document and we think given recent W114 limousine prices achieved by Historics, very good value indeed.Guide £6,000 - £11,000 Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 149

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:6305Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1963, the 230 SL was a very different car to its predecessors. Intended as the replacement for the 190 SL, the 230 SL abandoned the four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3 litre fuel-injected six cylinder engine, producing 150bhp. The new engine was derived from that of the great 220 SE. The Paul Bracq penned body was an all new, stylish design which became an instant classic. Beneath the skin, the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring independent suspension, disc brakes on the front and rear drums. Top speed was in excess of 120mph. Soon after the 230 SL was announced, Eugen Bohringer drove one to victory in the Spa-Sofia-Liège Rally and, although competition outings are rare, this was the sort of debut one would expect from the Stuttgart factory. These SL models were amongst the most-loved sports-tourers of their day and continue to be highly sought after by collectors. This fabulous 230 SL is finished in the striking colour combination of Signal Red with black interior and with a black hardtop. Subject to a huge restoration programme, this Mercedes-Benz presents in remarkable condition and must surely be one of the best available on the market today. The quality of the restoration work needs to be viewed in person to appreciate the workmanship. We are advised she drives as good as she looks, the 2.3 litre engine is mated to a manual gearbox. Now UK registered and supplied with a V5C registration document this Mercedes-Benz is in left hand guise;this is an opportunity to purchase one of the best Pagoda’s we have seen.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 151

2007 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG F1 Transmission: automaticMileage:45558Mercedes-Benz launched its new SL-Class (R230) of high-performance GTs in September 2001 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, though one had already served as Formula 1's Safety Car at Hockenheim in July. In 2002 the SL55 AMG went on sale. Hailed by Evo magazine as 'a supercar in disguise', the latter was powered by a 5.4 litre V8 engine producing 469bhp and a monstrous 520lb/ft of torque. And if that was not enough, the seriously speed-addicted could opt for the F1 version, which came with AMG's Performance Package that had been developed for the 2002 Formula 1 Safety Car. Costing an additional £10,000, AMG's upgrades included 'relaxing' the electronic speed restriction, enabling the car to reach 300km/h (186mph), plus changes to the suspension and brakes. There was also an extra oil cooler, a limited-slip differential and various changes to the exterior and interior styling. For the SL55 AMG a more robust five-speed automatic transmission was specified, the standard car's seven-speeder being considered not man enough for the job. This superb example of this ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ is presented in silver with black leather interior and comes with electric memory seats, air conditioning with climate control and a wind deflector. This is the facelift model with the F1 option pack and offered 510bhp when new and with its improved suspension, it gave it 60% less body roll. It also comes with a full Mercedes-Benz service history except for the last two, which were carried out by a Mercedes-Benz specialist. When the car was fully serviced in August 2019, this included the drive belts and plugs with an invoice total of £3,880 and it has covered just over 900 miles since. The present owner last serviced the car in February this year and he also replaced the rather dated satellite navigation system with a modern £3,000 Apple CarPlay touch screen unit (the original unit will come with car retaining its provenance). This fabulous car wants for nothing and is in superb condition throughout. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.

Lot 152

2005 Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:79844The C55 signified a return to AMG’s V8 roots, after barely a three-year flirtation with a supercharged V6. AMG found 8,100 homes for the C32, but the AMG engineers seemed much happier now that there was a serious, big-capacity, naturally aspirated 5.4litre V8 powering the meatiest C-Class and the badge is there to, well, to ensure the owners don’t forget. It is not the performance, AMG claimed 5.2 seconds to 62mph for both C55 and C32, or even the transformation to a deep, wonderfully muscular exhaust note, but the makeover in the dynamics that stood the new sports saloon apart. The C55 marked a small, but perceptible, shift towards a sharper, more sporting focus, that set it closer to the M3 than any previous AMG hotrod C-Class.This example of this brute of a car is presented in silver with black leather interior and comes with electric heated front seats, sunroof, air conditioning with climate control. Also accompanying the car is its original service book showing frequent servicing at almost yearly intervals from 31st June 2005 to October 2019. With the values of the earlier Cosworth-inspired super sports Mercedes rocketing well into six figures, this pure-blood AMG super saloon in the lightweight C-Class bodyshell is already a collectible Mercedes AMG hot rod, with blistering performance and that oh-so-inspiring and famous AMG V8 exhaust note.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. Buyers are advised to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out this service. Historics will not entertain disputes over descriptions.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, this vehicle has been UK registered with the registration number of LK55 UNN

Lot 164

1982 Mercedes-Benz 280 TE Estate ‘Seven Seat’ Transmission: automaticMileage:Mercedes-Benz introduced the W123 four-door versions in January 1976 and, while there were some technical similarities to their predecessors, the new models were larger in wheelbase and exterior dimensions. The styling was also updated, although stylistic links with the W115 were maintained. In September 1982, all models received a mild facelift which included the rectangular headlights, previously only fitted to the 280/280E which were standardised across the board as was power steering. Since February 1982, an optional five-speed manual transmission was available in all models. Optional extras included MB-Tex upholstery, velour or leather upholstery, interior wood trim, passenger side exterior mirror, five-speed manual gearbox, four-speed automatic gearbox, electric windows, central locking, sunroof, air conditioning, climate control, Alpine horn, headlamp wipers, cruise control, power steering and heated seats. This lovely 280 TE Estate was registered on 17th November 1982. Presented in green with beige interior, this car adorns the family crest, on the front doors, of one of its former owners, Lord Hanson. One can just imagine his Lordship putting together a large deal using his 280 TE’s in-car telephone! An incredibly practical and relatively understated car for such a flamboyant character, this seven-seater, well equipped model no doubt served him faultlessly. Supplied with a service book and various handbooks, a UK V5C registration document and various sundry invoices. These fabulous family workhorses have a strong following and to find one with relatively low mileage and with such famous ownership is hard to match.

Lot 169

1994 Mercedes-Benz SL600 Roadster Transmission: automaticMileage:57410 The specification of these splendid cars is always excellent with electric memory seats, heated seats, air conditioning and cruise control. To be expected from such an engine, this car is very responsive to drive and effortlessly travels for mile after mile. The beauty of the SL600 is the versatility; this is a car you can pop to the shops in or use for work on a daily basis. This example is a Californian car imported from Mercedes Benz of Reno and is showing a mere 57,410 miles on the odometer. Finished in one of the best colour combinations of Emerald Green metallic with cream premium grade leather interior the SL, Being the top of the range SL Mercedes, is offered in the highest of specifications, including the hardtop and 12 point chrome wheels, shod with recently changed tyres. The Mercedes has had just two private owners from new and has lived all its life in California. Purchased by a Mercedes-Benz SL collector in 2002 the car has resided in his collection and has always been garaged and taken care of. Presented in very good condition the paintwork is good and retains a deep shine as does the interior which is offered in excellent order. The V12 engine and gearbox are reported to be in very good condition and the air-conditioning is ice cold. The hydraulic system works as it should and the SL benefits from a spare wheel and an original tool kit in the boot.Included in the history file are various documents, sundry invoices, the original maintenance, and service wallet with books to match. The service book includes multiple service stamps and clearly shows the car has been maintained well and cherished throughout its life. Also included is a very good car fax report that supports the condition of the car. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a current MoT test certificate. Very rarely do SL600 models come to the open market in this condition with such sensible mileage. They offer incredible value for money especially when considering the £100,000 price tag from new!

Lot 179

1989 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:92902 With the R107 shape Mercedes-Benz, you are very much buying into an image. The style and flair are there in spades married, obviously, to renowned German build-quality. There are many variations on the theme in terms of engine size and the larger the size, generally, the more desirable, the car and so it is with this ‘Sports Licht’ roadster. The biggest on offer in Europe was the five litre, V8 engine and it is this well-engineered power plant that can be found under this bonnet today.Presenting well in the rare but attractive colour combination of Almandine Red with cream interior, this classic looking Mercedes has benefitted from recent extensive work by the SL Shop, N J Restorations and D-Class automotive that has totalled over £35,000. These comprehensive works included: replacement bulkhead, a new soft top, extensive work on the suspension, brakes and engine with new tyres, new carpets and seat covers. In addition to this a bare metal respray has been completed by NJ Restoration and the replacement bulkhead is still under warranty from the SL Shop. There is both a photographic history of the restoration and a file of receipts, invoices and old MoT’s to accompany ten years of service history. This 500 SL is one of the last of the R107 models to leave the world-famous Stuttgart factory (registered in December 1989) and features the optional rear seats and the desirable removable hardtop. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until July 2021 and given the values achieved at auction recently, G794 CLK can only be described as extremely well estimated.

Lot 197

1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Transmission: automaticMileage:45700In 1963, Mercedes-Benz debuted an all-new roadster to replace the 190 SL and 300 SL - the 230 SL. The 230 SL 'Pagoda' was a stunning Paul Bracq designed two-seat convertible that followed Mercedes' new design language, featuring crisp lines and upright headlights. To save on weight, the bonnet, doorskins, boot lid, and tonneau cover were all composed of aluminium. The nickname 'Pagoda' was quickly adopted thanks to the slightly concave roof on the optional removable hardtop that resembled a pagoda roof. In 1967, Mercedes introduced the third and final iteration of the 'Pagoda', the 280 SL, and it then became apparent that some cars don't change, they just get better. The 280 featured the same modified W111 chassis with a rear swing axle and independent front suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Power came from a 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection. A charming model with capable handling and braking thanks to its suspension and all-wheel disc brakes. These roadsters also have one of the most beautiful bodies produced in the 1960s. Thanks to their robust inline-six and their luxurious Mercedes interior, they are wonderful cars to be driven and enjoyed. This excellent, right hand drive, 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda has been subject to a two-year ground-up restoration by marque specialists Red Castle Classics based near Cardiff in South Wales. Since the restoration which was completed four years ago this car has only driven 350 miles. The first owner is unknown but from October 1978 it was owned by Mr. McMinn of Surbiton, he sold it in 1982 to Mr. Simon Peters who kept the car for many years until the car was sold, by his then widow, to Mr. Max Walker in July 2010 who shipped the car to his home in Jersey where he changed the colour from gold to metallic grey and upgraded the interior to black leather. This 280 SL returned to the mainland in 2012. Purchased by the current owner in April 2016 to join his small collection of SLs, he sent it directly for the restoration to be completed. It is believed the mileage of 45,700 miles is correct and is supported by old MoT test certificates which date back to 1982 at 18,240 miles and bills from June 1979 at 2,608 miles. Now superbly finished in the Mercedes-Benz classic colour scheme of silver with red leather interior, this 280 SL roadster is supplied with a matching factory hardtop, the desirable third seat option and a Becker Mexico radio from 1971. Supplied with the car is a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in September 2021 and a file containing old MoT test certificates, sundry invoices including the invoice for the restoration at £80,000 plus VAT, the service book and the handbook. 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:22600The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production till February 1971. The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre inline six-cylinder engine, the bonnet, boot lid, door skins and tonneau cover were made of aluminium to reduce weight. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time. The styling of the front paid homage to the legendary 300 SL with its characteristic upright Bosch ‘fishbowl’ headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel. In very good order throughout, this 280 SL Pagoda was delivered new to California, USA, and was purchased in the UK by the most recent vendor in 2008, who kept it in the South of France. After some 18 months, the vendor moved to Florida, USA, taking the Mercedes with her before shipping the car back to the UK in 2015. It is believed the car was extensively re-sprayed in Florida in 2014, and still presents in very good order throughout. The coachwork, engine bay and interior are all in very good condition with very few minor blemishes. Offered in the desirable colour combination of resplendent red over a tan leather hide interior the 280SL comes complete with a small history file including import documents, the current V5 registration document and various sundry invoices. This well-presented Pagoda, being the more desirable and powerful 280 model with its larger capacity engine, benefits from both its soft and hardtop. Nothing else needs to be said other than this Pagoda is one of the finest we have seen and is ready to be used and enjoyed by a new custodian.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:74000Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955, completing the first generation of cars. The second generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of `pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litre (230 SL) to 2.5 litre (250 SL) and finally to a 2.8 litre (280 SL). The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350 SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque body shell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its 17 year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of 90-degree V8 including the three litre straight six we have offered here produced from 1985.Originally registered on 25th January 1989, this Mercedes-Benz presents in very good order throughout. The light metallic blue coachwork is in very good order and is complemented by a blue interior that is again in exceedingly good order. The wheels are unmarked having been recently refurbished at the same time new tyres were fitted. The blue mohair hood appears to have been replaced quite recently; clearly this is a car that has been very well cared for throughout its life. A well stamped service book accompanies this 300 SL, as does a V5C registration document, 21 previous MoT test certificates and invoices dating back to when the car was first registered. The 2962cc straight-six engine is a very reliable unit and offers reasonable economy figures. Manufactured in the final year of 107 production, these cars were fully galvanised, therefore did not suffer from the corrosion issues of early models.

1973 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC (Ex-Peter Sellers) Transmission: manualMileage:116007Master impressionist, Peter Sellers, spent his childhood travelling the Vaudeville circuit where he gained a fondness for entertaining and a desire to succeed. After returning home from the war, Sellers joined the BBC, launching The Goon Show with his (to be) life-long friends Spike Milligan, Harry Secombe, Michael Bentine and Wallace Greenslade. Radio was but the start of this comedy maverick's extraordinary career. Hollywood beckoned with Sophia Loren and The Millionairess and the Oscar nominated, Dr. Strangelove but in 1963, he hit gold with Inspector Clouseau, The Pink Panther's bumbling master of disguise. With over 60 films to his name as well as a solid position within the heart of the nation, Sellers also has another side, his love of cars. Before he moved over to a mouth-watering selection of Ferraris, Sellers had more modest tastes, these included a number of Minis as well as one particular Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC...This 1975 registered 450 SLC was originally registered to Mr. Blake Edwards, director of The Pink Panther films, in 1975 before it passed on Peter Sellers. This Mercedes-Benz has undergone major restoration work over the last five years and as such, presents in beautiful condition. The engine was removed and fully rebuilt. The body was totally stripped with any corrosion cut-out and refabricated as necessary. The car was then totally repainted in the original colour of silver and the interior has been retrimmed in blue velour. The result of this significant amount of work, time and investment is a 450 SLC which is probably the best one available in the country today, coupled with the very interesting history, this Mercedes-Benz is surely a collectors’ dream car. Supplied with a V5C registration document and original Data Card, inspection in person is highly recommended to appreciate the quality of this stunning Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:68000The 4973cc, R129 Mercedes-Benz SL500 carried on the tradition of the fast and reliable grand touring convertible from Mercedes-Benz. Borne out of the earlier 500 SL models, the new SL 500 featured many new and innovative ideas for the period, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle.  Fully operating electric hood, windows, door mirrors and seats made this model easy and comfortable to operate. With powerful engines, stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance creating a model revered by many the world over. This stunning Mercedes-Benz was originally registered on 18th June 1993 and presents in very good order throughout. The Almandine coachwork is unmarked and the mushroom leather interior is exceedingly tidy. These bigger engine SL’s are silky smooth to drive with impressive performance. The current odometer reading on the car is 7,162 miles, however it is known to have had a speedometer change at around 60,000 miles. Confirmation from Mercedes-Benz is that the car had travelled 56,998 miles in 1998 and according to the MoT history in April 2006 the odometer reading was 1,122 miles. In the 15 years in between, she has covered a mere 6,040 miles, without doubt this is clearly a car that has been well cared for. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate together with a factory hardtop. Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction. 1954 Mercedes-Benz 170 SV Transmission: manualMileage:75132The Mercedes-Benz W136 was one of a range of inline four-cylinder cars from the mid-1930s into the 1950s. The model 170 V made its public debut as successor to the W15 Type 170 in February 1936 and between 1936 and 1939 it was Mercedes-Benz top selling model. During the war the plant suffered very severe bomb damage but the manufacturer nevertheless emerged from the trauma with a significant competitive advantage over many of its pre-war competitors. Enough of the W136's tooling survived the bombing during World War II for it to serve as the foundation upon which the company could rebuild. By 1947 the model 170 V had resumed its place as Mercedes-Benz top-seller, a position it held until 1953.This fantastic example spent thirty-seven years of its life in the ownership of a well-known Owners’ Club member. During his tenure, the extensive file of invoices and receipts for works completed to this scarce Mercedes totalled nearly £19,000. Most of this work was undertaken by marque specialist, John Haynes and it certainly shows. This well restored car presents in gleaming Jet Black paintwork with a grey cloth upholstery and grey carpets. The brightwork is good and the semaphores work, as does the cars self-lubricating system. The 1700cc side valve engine fired into life on first request and runs as smoothly as a car a fraction of its age. The column change four speed gearbox has synchromesh on each gear and changes are made with ease. Offered to auction with a V5c registration document and at a fraction of the restoration costs, this Mercedes would make a tremendous addition to any collector or enthusiast.Interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the description and condition of each lot prior to the sale. Accordingly, buyers are on notice that each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ subject to the Terms and Conditions for the auction.
