The BMW 2500 series was produced between 1968 - 1977, a full size high specification sedan designed to rival the Mercedes Benz luxury market. This particular vehicle is fitted with the well renowned M30 straight six engine and benefits from power steering.

Attributed to Brian Lewis (20th Century)- 'Winner 1931 Brescia 1000 mile road race, Mercedes-Benz ss IL, driven by Rudolph Caracciola' Oil on canvas, bears label verso, approx 70x91cm, cleaned and relined, framed. NB: With this lot comes a letter from Kensington Sporting Paintings Ltd, 2 The Downs, Wimbeldon, SW20 8HN, stating the painting to be by Brian Lewis and painted in 1946, also confirming that it was relined in 1989.

- 1 of just 22 RHD examples with 4 previous keepers - Original book pack, service book with 21 entries and MOT'd into Feb 2017 - Offered with a large collection of invoices and old MOT certificates The E36 was the rarest of the AMG models from its period with only 400 examples made, of which just 22 are understood to have been right-hand drive! Equipped with a purposeful stance, it was powered by 3.6-litre 24 valve straight-six engine of 277bhp - sufficient for a 0-60mph time of underseven seconds. The example offered is smartly presented in Metallic Brilliant Silver teamed with Anthracite Black leather interior and embossed E36 gear selector. The vendor presently considers the engine and automatic transmission to be 'excellent' and the two-door bodywork and paintwork to be 'good' and interior trim to be 'very good'. 'N306 WJL' has had just five keepers to date and was featured in the May 2001 edition of Classic Car magazine. Having a documented speedo change in 2000 by Mercedes-Benz Brunswick at 33,225 miles the Mercedes currently displays 62,664 miles giving a total of 95,919 miles. Recent attention has included: engine and transmission oil and filter change; the fitment of new Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres, remanufactured Mercedes-Benz rear brake callipers and Alpine stereo plus in 2009 a new wiring loom plus remanufactured Mercedes ECU. German officers are seen to be lining the track and are captured in conversation with the drivers including Bernd Rosemeyer. Cars depicted include Auto Union D-Type, Mercedes-Benz W125, Frazer-Nash BMW 328, Maserati 4CM, Adler and many others. An important lot, from the seminal era of German motorsport.
The ninth Tourist Trophy of the R.A.C. was run this year for the third time over the Ards circuit in Ulster, and resulted in a remarkable victory for the Italian Alfa-Romeo team, The winner, T. Nuvolari, has already achieved fame by his victory in the gruelling 1,000 miles of this year, though this was his first race on British soil. G. Campari, the second man home, was second in this event last year. He was also second in the Irish Grand Prix and the Italian 1,000 miles of this year. The third to finish, Achille Varzi, has achieved success in the I.O.M. Tourist Trophy for motorcycles, and this year crowned his many car-racing successes by winning the famous Targa-Florio over the mountainous Sicilian course. Verily a team of giants, whose victory was well deserved. This lot comprises a page that was taken down the grid at the start of the meeting and signed by seventeen of the competitors. The signatures were obtained by the Father of well-known female motor racing personality Patsy Burt (1928 - 2001). A rare bronze presentation plaque, featuring the Mercedes-Benz team boss and streamliner in relief. Reputedly presented to a selection of professional drivers in period by the B.R. & S.C.C. Mounted to a wooden display base and offered in good original condition. A similar piece that was presented to Jochen Rindt in 1971 sold at a Christies auction in 2011 for $1,434.
A varied selection of pre and post war photographs, to include two folders of factory press photographs, within their original packaging, primarily large format - 68 in total, with models depicted including the 300 SLR, W125, W196 and many others. Together with a selection of small format photographs depicting Lang and Fitch (under the supervision of Neubauer) testing the No. 23 'streamliner'. Plus a large format album, containing a collection of large black/white silver gelatine photographs of the Mercedes-Benz W196 (in both of its body configurations); along side the drivers, team and Alfred Neubauer, in the pits at Rheims, 1954 and early technical photographs and press photographs of the same period. Finally, a box containing 13 other period photographs is included of varied size and subject matter, including pre-war press dept racing photographs. (Qty)

The brochure also describes and illustrates the company's racing successes with the Silver Arrows. Well detailed & illustrated throughout. Offered in very good original condition.
