1972 Mercedes-Benz 350 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:101410Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The body and chassis of the 3rd generation SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor, but still showed a slight resemblance to them. The front and rear axles were similar to those of the 200-250 models, with independent wheel suspension using double wishbones and anti-drive control at the front and a diagonal swing axle at the rear. A four-speed automatic transmission was available as an option. The 3.5 litre V8 engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that time. Even by today's standards for sports cars the 350 SL's spacious cockpit looks excellent with great ergonomics.Presented in red coachwork with black trim, this early example boasts the desirable 3.5 litre V8 engine. Owned by our vendor for summer tours in 2022, he has recently completed maintenance works such as new timing chain, injector seals, shock absorbers and various suspension bushes, coupled with a new MoT test certificate valid until July 2023. We believe this example was repainted circa ten years ago. The vendor states that the bulkhead chambers are solid and water tight and the sills are very solid. Offered without a service history but with a few invoices for maintenance and MoT test certificates, many of which go back to the 1970s.Guide Price £10,000 - £15,000

Lot 134

2000 Mercedes-Benz E240 Elegance Transmission: automaticMileage:6437Styled by Steve Mattin under the guidance of Bruno Sacco, the second generation (W210) E-Class ushered in a new design language for Mercedes-Benz. Debuting in June 1995, its distinctive, quad oval headlight visage soon became a marque staple. While careful wind tunnel profiling enabled the saloon version to boast a drag coefficient of just 0.27. Accumulating seventy plus awards for occupant safety, design, environmental compatibility and efficiency over the course of its seven-year production cycle, the W210 could be had with a range of straight-four, straight-five, straight-six, V6 and V8 engines allied to manual or automatic transmission. Customers could thus specify their E-Class as everything from a frugal, diesel-powered airport taxi through to a petrol-guzzling super saloon. This excellent Mercedes-Benz E240 Elegance was purchased as part of a two-car deal from the local Mercedes dealership in Nottinghamshire in 2000, the other car being a cabriolet. The purchaser was John Rhodes who with his wife, Audrey set up and ran Sundown Adventureland. John Rhodes used the car very little and when he died in 2007, the car had been recently serviced with only 5,146 miles on the odometer. The car was MoT'd in 2008 before being put in the garage and left in storage. In 2021, it was purchased from the deceased estate having been in storage for fifteen years. The car required some paintwork which was done, the wheels refurbished, new tyres fitted and all the mechanicals gone through. Finished in Mercedes Brilliant Silver (744) with Orion Grey cloth interior (485), this car can only be described as in showroom condition having covered a mere 6,450 miles from new. This E240 is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in December 2022, the handbook pack with the service book with only two stamps, the unused wheel changing tools and the original first aid kit located in the rear seat arm rest. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a low mileage Mercedes which is being offered to auction without reserve.

Lot 136

2004 Mercedes-Benz SL55 F1 Transmission: automaticMileage:72000The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two door convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! This stunning SL55 AMG is further enhanced by an F1 Performance Package denoted by the term, 'P30 AMG Performance Pack' in the build specification offering a truly dynamic driving experience; this high performance version of the roadster is closely derived from the official FIA Safety Car for 2002. The enhanced dynamic characteristics relate to an extensive range of revisions to its body - engine cooling system, brakes and suspension. Larger cooling-air intakes and an additional engine-oil cooler ensure that the AMG V8 super-charged engine is maintained at the optimum operating temperatures during aggressive driving. The SL55 AMG with the Performance Package also draws on its Formula 1 counterpart when it comes to the chassis set-up, together with the choice of wheels and tyres. The Mercedes-Benz AMG engineers based the configuration on the set-up used by official FIA Safety Car driver Bernd Mayländer on all the F1 Grand Prix circuits. First registered on 22nd September 2004, this stunning example is presented in metallic silver with full black leather trim. Boasting a comprehensive history with the most recent service undertaken in 2021. This year it has also been treated to new tyres and will come to auction with a fresh MoT test certificate. An opportunity to purchase a supercar which was in excess of £120,000 when new for a fraction of the price. One thing is certain €“ this collector's car is not for the faint hearted.

1978 BMW 633 CSi Transmission: manualMileage:123573In the 1970s, BMW engineers wanted to build light, fast sporting machines, while management sought to produce large Autobahn bruisers to compete with Mercedes-Benz. Around that time, revered French designer Paul Bracq was hired away from Mercedes-Benz. He was able to bridge the gap between the two BMW factions by penning the fantastic 6-Series Coupé. A spacious, comfortable road car, it appealed to management's desire for a large grand tourer. Quick and competent, with taut lines reminiscent of the 3.0 CS, it pleased BMW's engineers as well.Originally sold by BMW Concessionaires GB Ltd Export Division in June 1978, this fabulous driving machine and well presented BMW 633 CSi is supplied with a huge service history within its original booklet, together with a schedule of works for its major restoration which was carried out by the well-known BMW dealer group, Coopers of Thames Ditton. The extent of the works carried out in all areas of the car is mind blowing. In total, the car was with Coopers for an entire year from between 88/89! Amazingly, only 20,000 miles have been covered since these works were completed and the car has been laid up in storage for many years. However, in 2014, Rangers of Guildford carried out a huge recommissioning of the engine and its components, costing £2,400 at 123,000 miles. It is fitted with the stunning optional Alpina 18€ wheels, the CSi deep front spoiler and its Pearlescent paintwork and fantastic period velour interior - this is truly an eyeful of a car. Following its recommissioning, it's clear to see that this low ownership car has been lovingly cared for in idyllic conditions by its current family ownership and will not disappoint. Late 80's and 90's CSi's are readily available but where do you find 70's early models? The owner also ensures us that this car will have a full MoT test certificate at the time of sale.

1987 Mercedes-Benz 420 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:136000These fabulous and popular models were launched at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1985. The V8 engined 420 SL convertible retained its predecessor's long-running Type 107 bodyshell which was virtually unchanged and replaced the outgoing 380 SL model. Its power unit was an enlarged and improved version of the existing 3.8 litre overhead cam Type M116 V8. The running gear followed Mercedes-Benz's established pattern, comprising independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, while a new five-speed manual gearbox was offered alongside the existing four-speed automatic transmission. A mere 2,148 examples of this luxuriously equipped model were made between 1985 and 1989.First registered on 2nd February 1987, this 420 SL looks every inch the 1980's icon it became. Finished in white metallic paintwork, this car benefits from contrasting Ox Blood Red leather interior. Accompanied by the addition of a desirable factory hardtop, this SL is offered with a history file containing many sundry bills from specialists such as the SL Shop, old MoT records and the current UK V5 registration document. Having spent the majority of its time in the South of France, this example was acquired by the current vendor in 2017 and has more recently resided in London. The power of the 4.2 litre V8 engine was impressive for the late 1980's and is still plenty enough for touring by today's standards.

Lot 152

2008 Mercedes-Benz S500 Transmission: automaticMileage:37299The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a luxury saloon and was officially introduced in 1972 succeeding previous Mercedes-Benz models dating back to the mid-1950s. As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the S-Class has debuted many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features and safety systems (such as seatbelt pre-tensioners). The W220 S-Class was completely restyled in 1999 with a body that was slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. As with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in new innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and active ventilated seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations). This lovely left hand drive example from Japan, is presented in silver with black leather interior which looks amazing considering it's 14 years old! This luxurious saloon comes with electric sunroof, electric heated memory seats to the front, cruise control, electric steering column, climate control and its Japanese service stickers can still be seen on the vehicle. Since the vendor's ownership, the car has benefitted from an oil and fluid change, the fitting of a Pioneer Bluetooth radio, (the original was dated and in Japanese) and has undergone a general condition check to ensure all was well with the car. This is a wonderful example in great condition throughout, which belies its age and is powered by the smooth five litre V8. This really is a superb luxury saloon that has just returned from a trip around the continent, where the vendor reports the car ran faultlessly and was both comfortable, quiet and fast.

1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Transmission: manualMileage:74738Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1963, the 230 SL was a very different car to its predecessors. Intended as the replacement for the 190 SL, the 230 SL abandoned the four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3 litre fuel-injected, six-cylinder engine, producing 150bhp. The new engine was derived from that of the great 220 SE. The Paul Bracq penned body was an all-new, stylish design which became an instant classic. Beneath the skin, the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring independent suspension, disc brakes on the front and rear drums. Top speed was in excess of 120mph. Soon after the 230 SL was announced, Eugen Böhringer drove one to victory in the Sofia-Liège Rally. This attractive 1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Roadster has been in the vendors tenure for over 12 years during which time it has spent most of its time in storage. This right hand drive manual example presents well in blue with a cream coloured interior and features the desirable factory hardtop. Offered to auction with a V5 registration document and a file containing various bills and receipts, this Mercedes Pagoda is keenly priced. Any prospective purchaser should note that this car will require attention to the fuel system before it can be driven. These SL models were amongst the most-loved sports-tourers of their day and continue to be highly sought after by collectors and have recently seen a marked increase in values.

1980 Mercedes-Benz 350 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:74593Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. Even by today's standards for sports cars the 350 SL's spacious cockpit looks excellent with great ergonomics.Originally registered on 1st January 1981, this Mercedes-Benz has undergone a total restoration and presents in superb condition. The car was completely stripped and the bodywork repaired or re-fabricated as necessary; the smoke silver paint finish is to a very good standard. The tan interior was re-trimmed in high quality leather and new burgundy carpets fitted. Mechanically, these cars are generally very good and the 3499cc V8 engine is quiet and silky smooth in operation. The under-bonnet area is commensurate with a car that has had significant time and investment. We are advised by the vendor this 350 SL drives with no known faults and is supplied with a V5C registration document. With values of these 107's on the rise, this represents an exciting opportunity.*Library Images

2019 Mercedes-Benz C200 AMG Line Premium Convertible Transmission: automaticMileage:19114The W205 C-Class was launched at the 2014 North American International Auto Show. The car was officially unveiled on 16 December 2013. 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Coupé (3.5 litre) Transmission: automaticMileage:81171In the summer of 1965, Mercedes-Benz launched its new replacements for both W111 and W112 saloons, the W108 and W109 respectively. In a bizarre twist of fate, this car's design was based on the W111 Coupé but widened and squared off as the fintail fashion was quickly fading by the mid-1960s. However, both W111 and W112 models were modernised; the 220 SE was superseded by the 250 SE which featured the new 2,496cc engine, producing 150bhp at 5500rpm, giving it a significant improvement in top speed. Visibly, the changes only affected the new 14 rims with new wheel trims; this was to accommodate the larger disc brakes and the new rear axle. In November 1967, the 250 SE was superseded by the new 280 SE. Inside, the car received wood veneer on the dashboard and other minor changes. A final model was added in August 1969, the 280 SE, 3.5 litre. It was fitted with the brand-new M116, 3,499cc, V8 engine with 200bhp at 5,800rpm, a top speed of 130mph and a 0-100 at 9.5 seconds. To accommodate the large engine, the car's front grille was widened and front bumpers were modified. This fabulous and original right hand drive example is the much sought after V8 example and is presented in black paintwork with matching black leather trim. Our vendor purchased this at the turn of the year from the previous owner a Mr. O'Donnell, who had owned the car since 1991 and in that time had expressly used one garage to care for his car, Steve Redfearn Motor Co., a Mercedes-Benz specialists in Wimbledon. In what is a large history file there are over £125,000 of invoices relating to maintenance and work, plus a £10,000 engine rebuild in 1996 at 41,000 miles. Of late our vendor has replaced and re-upholstered the trim at a further cost of £5,750. This brings to us this incredibly desirable Coupé as it stands today. The wood panels and fascia are in lovely condition throughout, as are all the new leather seats. This model is powered by the strong and hugely desirable 3.5 litre V8 engine which is wonderful on long journeys, coping effortlessly with motorway cruising, but is just as at home on the winding country roads. Truly a rare gem and sublime in its aesthetics. Viewings are highly recommended.

2004 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:42940The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL Class in 1989 and was subsequently replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The R129 came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic-red 500 SL, becoming the first member of the royal family to use a foreign car. This controversy sparked a media storm as it was questioned whether a member of British royalty should drive foreign cars. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two-door convertible sports cars made by Mercedes-Benz was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL Class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997.Originally registered on 12th March 2004 this Mercedes-Benz is finished in the delightful colour combination of blue metallic with contrasting beige leather interior. These very well-appointed cars come with ABS, electric seats, heated seats, air conditioning and cruise control as standard. The silky smooth V8 engine offers effortless power and reliability, this really is the ultimate touring vehicle. The roof comes down at the touch of a button allowing for open top motoring when the weather permits. A history folder accompanies this Mercedes-Benz along with a V5 registration document. We are advised she will be presented for a fresh MoT prior to auction. Whether travelling to the local golf club or to the South of France this 500 SL is a fabulous car to drive.

1951 Mercedes-Benz 170S B Cabriolet Transmission: manualMileage:The Mercedes-Benz W136 was one of a range of inline four-cylinder cars from the mid-1930s into the 1950s. The model 170V made its public debut as successor to the W15 Type 170 in February 1936 and between 1936 and 1939 it was Mercedes-Benz top selling model. During the war the plant suffered very severe bomb damage, the manufacturer nevertheless emerged from the trauma with a significant competitive advantage over many of its pre-war competitors. Enough of the W136's tooling survived the bombing during World War II (or could be recreated post-war) for it to serve as the foundation upon which the company could rebuild. By 1947 the model 170V had resumed its place as Mercedes-Benz top-seller, a position it held until 1953. Lacking a luxury car in its line-up, Mercedes-Benz sought to regain a niche in that market by introducing the upscale 170S version of the 170V in 1949. It was more luxurious, costlier and, when launched, slightly larger than the 170V, distinctions the company made an effort to emphasize. Although sometimes referred to today as the first S-Class Mercedes-Benz, that designation did not yet exist. For a brief period of time, it was also offered as a Convertible A and B, these were almost entirely hand assembled dream cars. Only 1,603 cars of the four-seater Convertible B were made which has turned it into a very sought after old-timer.The car was used by the MI6 in Berlin during one of the most interesting periods of the Cold War in the 1950's. The car was owned by a MI6 agent who worked with George Blake who turned out to be a Russian spy and it was registered at the same address as Blake during its time in Berlin. Imported to the UK in the late 50's and after lying in decay for decades it was purchased by Kenneth Foat who restored it to Concours d'Elegance condition. The car has since won several awards, been on display at Mercedes-Benz World and featured in the Mercedes history movie. This superb concours and award-winning Mercedes-Benz is presented in two-tone blue with light grey leather interior. The full restoration by Kenneth Foat some years ago, as previously mentioned, has photographic evidence in history file and the result is stunning. Its black hood is in superb condition and folds back as it should, all wood is immaculate and the whole car remains in award winning condition. Aside from its condition, this absolute gem has as fascinating history! It was owned originally by MI6 in 1956 and used by the then MI6 agent, Howard Greville, his neighbour in Berlin at the time was none other than the infamous George Blake, the Soviet double agent/spy during the height of the Cold War period. The car was used daily by Howard in Berlin between 1955 and 1956 to get to work from his residence at Platanenallee 26 in Charlottenburg to the MI6 headquarter at the Olympic Games stadium and to various MI6 intelligence gathering operations. In a letter from Howard to the Foat family, he confirmed he was €˜living in the British occupied part of Berlin with the attention directed upon Stalin'. Also, in an interview with Howard on 4th July 2008 by the Herald newspaper, they disclosed that Howard was a MI6 spy working in Berlin gathering information on the Soviets and that his main duty was to recruit Germans to assist. The mileage obtained from the original German service books written in Howard's handwriting demonstrates the daily commute from Platanenallee 26 Charlottenburg to the MI6 headquarters. It shows that between 7th February and 7th June 1955 the car travelled 715km (66,162km to 66,877km) and between 7th June and 22nd June 1955 the car travelled 173km, which sums up to the daily commute. The secret MI6 operations that took place in Berlin at this precise moment was Operation Gold. Operation Gold or otherwise named Operation Stopwatch began in late December 1954 (Bill Harvey US) and was in full motion in 1955. It was a joint initiative between CIA and MI6 to tap into the Soviet communications by digging a tunnel under Berlin. The tunnel was completed on 2nd April 1956, which is about the same time the car and Howard left Berlin. The dates and miles put on the car while stationed in Berlin during 1955 coincides with Operation Gold. Operation Gold was at the time top secret, but it is now widely documented. One interesting book reflecting the secret mission is Steve Vogel's book on George Blake called €˜Betrayal in Berlin'. It is a very comprehensive book on the Berlin Tunnel and the greatest conspiracy of the Cold War. At the heart of this Cold War espionage was George Blake. There is no doubt George knew the Mercedes well, considering he and Howard worked together and lived at the same address, so it's highly likely George sometimes took a ride with Howard to the MI6 headquarter at the Olympic Games stadium. The incredible, true and fascination history together with the car's superb condition, must surely make this one of the most desirable examples of this model to come to the market in years. This car was also displayed to the public at Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands between 2008-2013.

Lot 189

2005 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Coupé Transmission: automaticMileage:3357The SLR McLaren, introduced in November 2003, was Mercedes-Benz's foray into the world of the supercar, alongside such cars as the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Enzo. It was developed in collaboration with the McLaren Technology Centre which, at the time, was partially owned by Mercedes-Benz. While Ferrari and Porsche pursued creating the best all-out supercars that the world had ever seen, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren attempted to create a car that coupled the best aspects of supercars with that of grand tourers. Engineers at Mercedes-Benz and McLaren took care to place the V8 as far back as possible in the chassis in order to improve the car's handling, giving the SLR near-perfect weight distribution. The SLR's engine produces 617bhp at 6,500rpm, thanks to a Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger. A dash from 0-60mph took 3.8 seconds and the car leads to a quarter mile in just over 11 seconds with a top speed of 206mph. Its AMG Speedshift R transmission provides three manual modes to suit the owner's style of driving. Other remarkable technical features include the Sensotronic 'brake by wire' system, carbon-ceramic disc brakes and an automatic airbrake which can bring the SLR to a screeching halt from 120mph to a dead stop in less than 240 feet. This Mercedes-Benz SLR was manufactured in 2005 and presented in silver, typically synonymous with the Silver Arrows. This low mileage McLaren is in a condition commensurate with such few miles on the clock. The cockpit area of a SLR is a thing of beauty and to drive such a car is a memorable experience. The ultra-comfortable sports seats and luxurious interior are finished in black leather complementing the striking silver exterior. The SLR Coupé is a very versatile vehicle, comfortable to drive at 30mph, yet simply stunning to drive at high speed. The fabulous engine fires up at the press of a button on the gear lever which is reminiscent of a €˜jet fighter' and drives with no known faults. Built in the UK and then shipped to the U.A.E, this SLR was then imported back to the UK in 2012 to our private owner. With a recent MoT test certificate and a UK V5C registration document, this is truly a collectable example with circa 2,085 miles from new. Whether you are driving to your local restaurant or to the South of France, there can be few more exciting ways to travel than a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.Successfully sold at our Bicester sale this lot is being offered again at Mercedes Benz World due to difficulties completing the purchase. No change of ownership has taken place and the lot is offered in identical terms to September when it sold for £277,340. 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Restoration Transmission: automaticMileage:The Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) has been in production since 1954 with perhaps the most influential model being the W113 Pagoda of 1963. This second generation evolved from the 230SL to 250SL, finally becoming the 280SL. The W113 was replaced by the W107 in 1971 and as the engines became larger, the bodywork and weight of the cars also increased, as so often happens in mid-life! The SL improved through the years with technical innovation but still managed to keep its fundamental character and identity of an up-market, high quality sports car. Its reputation went from strength to strength, and it was rare to see an episode of Dallas or Dynasty in the 1980's without an SL making a star appearance. The genius soft-top mechanism which folds down out of sight under a panel ahead of the boot lid gave the car a beautifully sleek, uncluttered appearance. Of all the engine offerings the 280 remains the most sought after with the smaller 2.8 litre engine offering plenty of power but with the advantage of less weight and this improved handling. This original right hand drive automatic 280 R107 SL was registered 24th May 1985, with just three owners from new and the previous owner having owned it for 17 years in total. In March this year the car was completely stripped to bare metal and the vendor begun what was intended to be a full body restoration. The shell which is in €˜as new' order, is finished in a metallic blue with a dark blue soft top and sits on Mexican Hat alloy wheels and comes with the original smoky grey interior. The engine running gear is still in the vehicle and fully running. There are receipts from the SL Shop for new ignition leads and plugs, injectors and associated parts, fuel pump relay. We are informed all parts are available as per the photos and is believed that every part removed is supplied with the car and can be collected locally post auction. Being offered to the market due to a change in the vendor's circumstances, part finished to a very good standard, this example would represent an ideal winter project to complete what has become a very popular classic roadster with prices having risen significantly for the R107 over the past 18 months.

1998 Mercedes-Benz 500E Transmission: automaticMileage:80000From 1990 to 1995, Mercedes-Benz sold a high-performance version of the W124, the Mercedes-Benz 500E. It was created in close co-operation with Porsche; each one being hand-built by Porsche and transported back and forth between the Mercedes-Benz plant and Porsche's Rössle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany during assembly, with a full 18 days being taken to complete each car. The 500E had a naturally aspirated 5.0 litre, V8 engine derived from the 500SL (R129) and braking performance also came from SL components. The 500E was manufactured as a four-seat saloon and in left-hand drive only. The leather seats were supplied by Recaro with the fronts being electrically operated and heated. Called the 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' by the press, performance tests of the day yielded impressive results with 0-62 mph times of 5.5 to 6.0 seconds. The top speed was 161.5mph with the engine speed limited to 6000rpm. With its aggressive stance, wider track, lower profile, flared wheel arches, side skirts, front air-dam and wider tyres, the 500E is easily distinguished from its lesser brethren. This Mercedes-Benz 500E W124 saloon was manufactured in 1991 and first registered in the UK in January 1998. Presenting well in Blue Black which is complemented by a chequered interior trim with leather bolsters, these understated power houses are becoming more popular and we believe rightly so. This desirable pre facelift Mk. I model has benefitted from a £2,000 service with Mercedes specialists SS Motors which included a change to both coolant and brake fluid. Previous owners of the 500E model have included the actor and historic race enthusiast, Rowan Atkinson. This example is offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until May 2023 and a file containing various receipts for maintenance work carried out since 2018, including a complete new exhaust system. Because of its look, limited numbers, handbuilt construction at Porsche and its unique pedigree, the 500E is already considered a classic, even within Mercedes-Benz and this therefore represents an ideal opportunity to acquire a very special car.

1972 Mercedes-Benz 250 S (2.8 Litre) Transmission: automaticMileage:20000The Mercedes-Benz W114/W115 was the mid-sized saloon model, positioned below the S-Class between 1968 and 1976. Mercedes also launched its first five-cylinder diesel engine in this chassis for the American market. It followed heavily in the direction set by the W108/109 S-Class, which was launched in 1965 and heralded the new design idiom. The car was designed by French auto designer Paul Bracq who was chief designer at Mercedes-Benz for models from 1957 to 1967, a period that included models such as the Grosser Mercedes-Benz 600. Bracq was also responsible for BMW designs (1970 to 1974) and Peugeot designs (1974 to 1996). The 250 model was introduced in 1968 fitted with M114, 2.5 litre, six-cylinder engine. In 1970 this was replaced with the M130, 2.8 litre six-cylinder engine which continued until the model was replaced by the W123 model in 1976.This good left hand drive, 1972 Mercedes-Benz 250 S was imported to the UK by the current owner in 2010 after he purchased the car in New York, USA. During his ownership the vendor has completed just over 5,000 miles but has had the car fully maintained, it had a major service carried out in 2020, less than 1,000 miles ago and had the rear brakes overhauled in 2015. The car is presented with a high specification including an automatic gearbox, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning which is currently not working. It was also supplied with alloy wheels which have been replaced with steel wheels but are being supplied with the car. Finished in cream with dark brown interior, this 250 S is supplied with a V5 registration document, copies of the US title documents and invoices for work carried out in the UK. This represents a very original example of the ever-popular early Mercedes-Benz saloon.

1964 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Convertible Transmission: manualMileage:12790The Mercedes-Benz W111 was produced from 1959 to 1968 and was the chassis code given to its top-range vehicles, with two-door Coupés and cabriolets being produced from 1961 to 1971. Design of a replacement for the two-door Pontons began in 1957 as most of the chassis and drivetrain were to be unified with the saloon with the emphasis on the exterior styling. Production began in late 1960 and in February of the next year the Coupé was premiered in Stuttgart for the 75th anniversary of the opening of Mercedes-Benz Museum. The convertible followed at the Frankfurt Motor Show a few months later; the car was almost identical to the Coupé with the soft top roof folded into a recess behind the rear seat and covered by a tightly fitting bag. Unlike the previous generation of two-door ponton series, there was only one model for the two-door vehicle, the 220SE on both versions, with the identical 2195cc engine. This excellent example was registered in April 1964. Described as being in good mechanical order, this Mercedes has recently passed an MoT test in spite of being exempt by virtue of its age. This 220SE cabriolet is finished in blue black metallic and has been retrimmed in dark blue. Presented to auction with a V5 registration document and the previously mentioned MoT test certificate valid until August 2022. 1960s Mercedes convertibles are becoming increasingly sought after by people all over the world making them a very sound investment for the future and excellent examples such as this car will always attract the highest of prices.Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead.

1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster Transmission: manualMileage:4068There are some cars that epitomise design that transcends normal functionality, with advanced vision that predates wind tunnel technology and that even with modern resources, designers can often only dream of. There are just a handful of which we speak; for example, Jaguar's E-Type, Aston Martin's DB4 and the 190 SL belonging to Mercedes-Benz. Contrary to popular belief, both the 190 SL and its bigger brother, the 300 SL, hit the market at about the same time. Whilst there was the obvious power differential, many styling cues could be found on both cars, least of all the same level of detail and craftmanship that defines Mercedes-Benz. The 190 SL also took advantage of the same suspension underpinnings as the 300 SL thus affording it both confident handling and driveability. This extremely usable example presented here in €˜Fire Engine Red' with a matching red leather interior and period-correct carpets, appears to have had a full bare-metal restoration in approximately 1999 with photographic evidence to show. Between then and now parts and works have been undertaken from various suppliers including Mercedes-Benz Crystal Palace, SLS Mercedes-Benz in Hamburg (in German naturally) and highly respected SS Motors, Mercedes-Benz specialists in Weybridge. The vendor acquired it through Charles Ironside, a specialist of high standing with an equally high-quality threshold, back in 2010. More general maintenance followed with a major service in 2019 including gearshift cover strip down, propshaft out to trace a leak and heater system overhaul. New carpets were fitted by Surrey Trim in 2020 with a new mohair hood envelope at a cost of £3,120. Still complete with the original Becker Europa wireless and associated paperwork, a light service and fresh MoT test certificate will accompany, and this example also benefits from having the extremely rare and original hardtop with the desirable larger rear window offering elegant motoring to the next fortunate owner.

1964 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:33000The Mercedes-Benz W113 roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 and were known as the 'Pagoda roof' SL. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. Rear wheel drive configuration was complemented by independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where the famous German engineer Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort. This Mercedes-Benz 230SL Pagoda was originally registered in 1964 in the US and was imported to the UK from Florida in 2008. Owned by our vendor since 2012 and presented in burgundy paintwork which matches the supplied colour from new and has lovely €˜as new carpeting' complimented by its black trim. Restored circa four years ago and presenting in similar condition today, this example boasts the desirable manual gearbox and is offered with over £40,000 in receipts. It benefits from new brake and suspension components, new complete exhaust and new tyres (all done less than 500 miles ago). Since passing its MoT in March this year, the vendor has been driving and enjoying whilst having any final work completed. Within the history file, you will find the latest receipts reflecting in April of this year a sum of £900 has been spent on having the servo overhauled, an engine fuel and air ratio adjustment for £751.43 in July and finally in September this year, the latest receipt for £3405.16 which shows the engine timing chain and adjuster were replaced. The engine timing and vacuum advance have been set up and the alternator overhauled. This work was carried out by renowned classic Mercedes specialists Colin Ferns ltd, showing a good level of care for what has been a joy for our client to drive over the summer months. Supplied with both soft and hardtops, this is a very desirable manual Pagoda which is offered at an extremely realistic price. A perfect example ready for a European tour perhaps or 2023's long summer days motoring

Lot 239

1970 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Restoration Transmission: automaticMileage:53703The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production until February 1971. An all new design by Paul Bracq to replace the 190 SL and 300 SL Roaster. The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection. To save on weight the bonnet, boot lid and tonneau cover were all composed of aluminium. The nickname 'Pagoda' was quickly adopted thanks to the slightly concave roof on the optional removable hardtop that resembled a pagoda roof. The comparatively short and wide chassis, combined with an excellent suspension, powerful disc brakes and radial tyres gave the W113 superb handling for its time. These roadsters also have one of the most beautiful bodies produced in the 1960s. Thanks to their robust inline-six and their luxurious Mercedes interior, they are wonderful cars to be driven and enjoyed. The styling of the front paid homage to the legendary 300 SL with its characteristic upright Bosch €˜fishbowl' headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel. Originally delivered to the US, this left hand drive, automatic example has been registered since 2005 to a Mr Richard Johnson in Colorado. In 2008, it was acquired by a Mr. RIzwan Khan of Gillingham, Kent before being offered by Historics in 2012. Our vendor originally bought this from Historics to add to his Mercedes-Benz collection, the restoration work to this car then started in April 2021 when the bodywork was completely stiped to bare metal. New panels have skilfully been welded where required and then the stunning red paint finish has been applied. We are informed all this vehicle needs now is to have the mechanical components overhauled before refitting and the interior and exterior components reinstated. Supplied with an engine and transmission, vast amount of the chrome work, interior/exterior components, and full exhaust system. *Although the vendor has supplied a list of the components he does advise there are some parts missing to complete this car, and everything that comes with it in his opinion would need overhauling and re chroming etc. Part finished to a very good standard an original left hand drive automatic 280 SL Pagoda that has over the past 18 months begun what is well on the way to being a full body restoration sitting on newly painted hubcap wheels. With engine running gear and chromework all supplied as per the photos, supplied with the car, and can be collected locally post auction. Supplied with Colorado certificate of title, Customs form C&E 386 and other documents this example would represent an ideal project to complete what has become a very popular classic roadster with prices having risen above £100,000 for fully restored 280 Pagodas over the last 12 months. 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:86949Mercedes-Benz have been producing an SL model or range of models since 1954. The similarly styled but mechanically unrelated 190 followed in 1955 completing the first generation of cars. The second-generation SL's began with the 230 in 1963. It was distinguished by its lower waistline, big curved screens and a distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname of `pagoda top'. Over its nine years of production, the second-generation SL's engine grew in capacity from 2.3 litres to 2.5 litres and finally to 2.8 litres which was shown by the name 230 SL, 250 SL and 280 SL. The larger, third generation SL was launched in 1971, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350 SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque bodyshell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front and semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. Over its seventeen-year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of 90-degree V8.Originally registered on 15th August 1986 this Mercedes-Benz presents in Ivory with chestnut two-tone interior. The car presents in delightful condition and has clearly been a very well cared for example. We are advised she drives with no known faults, the six-cylinder three-litre engine is generally a very robust unit, offering good performance and fuel economy. Supplied with a V5 registration document and the original service and handbooks, together with a factory hardtop. A lovely example of this appreciating and very usable modern classic.

1968 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:95282The Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production until February 1971. An all-new design by Paul Bracq to replace the 190 SL and 300 SL Roaster. The 280 SL had a powerful 2.8 litre version of Mercedes inline-six and used Bosch fuel injection. The styling of the front paid homage to the legendary 300 SL with its characteristic upright Bosch €˜fishbowl' headlights and simple chrome grille, dominated by the large three-pointed star in the nose panel. This very tidy left hand drive example of this iconic German classic was imported from the US in 2016 and was then repainted in the traditional white which you see today. Its interior, which we believe to be original but cannot confirm, is red MB Tex and is in good condition. Its 2.8 engine is mated to a manual gearbox and we are informed it runs well. The car comes with its factory hardtop which is also in good condition and this Pagoda is priced very reasonably compared to many similar classic Mercedes-Benz and can be used every day or to tour in Europe, either way this is a stylish sports car and still turns heads on our roads today.

Lot 249

2010 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:12594The German word Gelandewagen translates as €˜cross country vehicle'. This abbreviates to G-Wagen and is a fitting name for the four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. The G-Wagen has enjoyed an impressive build run of over 40 years, during which time notable owners have included the Vatican who took delivery of a specially made G-Wagen which included a clear top and served as the Popemobile, a car that now has permanent residence in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The condition of this G-Wagen is a testament to our vendors attention to detail, he is the cars second owner and during his 10-year tenure this impressive Mercedes has barely seen 1,000 miles a year use. The car presents spotlessly in gleaming Black coachwork with a black leather interior. The stunning condition is complemented with a tremendous level of equipment which includes a factory fitted sunroof, rear screen entertainment, privacy glass, illuminated AMG treadplates, gold coloured brake calipers and sidesteps. The V8 Kompressor engine fired up with a reassuring growl through its side mounted exhaust pipes when requested and if you doubted the cars power it leaves very little to the imagination. These 4x4 from Mercedes-Benz have reached €˜cult' status amongst enthusiasts and this genuine example is ready for a new owner.

Lot 253

1980 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC Transmission: automaticMileage:21000The R107 and C107 Mercedes-Benz SL variants have long been revered amongst classic car devotees, being built to exacting engineering standards and with a subtle air of sophistication. These cars were built from 1971 through to 1989, the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The SL (R107) was a two-seat convertible with standard soft top, optional hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. Its sibling, the SLC (C107) or €˜SL Coupé' derivative, was a two-door hardtop Coupé with normal rear seats. It was launched at the Paris Motor Show and signalled a shift in management thinking at Stuttgart about what made a successful luxury Coupé. Sporting a longer wheelbase and sufficient interior room for four, the SLC was a sleek two-door car that combined the seating advantages of a four-door saloon with the style of a sporty Coupé.This very tidy example is presented in gold with cream velour interior. The car had been in the same family ownership right up until 2008 and comes with air conditioning, electric sunroof and a mere 21,000 miles from new which is warranted by the present owner. The car also comes with its all-original service pack complete with brochure and it has been part of a major private collection from 2009 until 2020. There are seven stamps in the book, all of which are with main dealerships. This is a lovely original example of this practical classic with low mileage and low ownership with good history.

Lot 254

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 Transmission: automaticMileage:95356The fifth generation of the legendary SL series convertible sports cars was known as the R230. The Mercedes-Benz SL55 is no shrinking violet but the previous owner of this car was not satisfied and wanted to attract even more attention. A full wide body kit was used to convert the SL55 AMG to a recreation of the later Brabus SL65 Black Edition with the help of a professional ADAIR kit. Subject to a light category D insurance loss in 2013, ADAIR used this opportunity to facelift the headlights and expertly replace the panels with the wide body kit. The car today looks every part its £280,000 plus sibling, a real wolf in wolfs clothing and is described by our vendor as €˜an absolute goliath of a car'. We are informed that the engine has been breathed on with the intention of achieving 600bhp, however until dyno tested this is still an unknown, but it certainly feels very close to that figure. The incredible sound from the exhaust is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end making this an exciting car to drive and own. We are also informed only one genuine SL65 Brabus Black Edition car exists and is held in a collection owned by the Dubai Royal family. An AMG super-charged V8 with the roof down is a perfect motoring scenario and so desired by fans of the SL Mercedes-Benz. Offered with a MoT test certificate until June 2023, this stunning SL will turn heads at every opportunity and will be sure to do the same when offered on 26th November at the home of AMG Mercedes-Benz.

Lot 257

1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL Pagoda Transmission: manualMileage:79753The very pretty and highly desirable Mercedes-Benz 250 SL was the successor to the popular 230 SL and was first introduced to the public at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show. The brief production run ended a year later in January 1968 and because of this short run, the 250 SL is the rarest of the W 113 (Pagoda) series cars. These lovely German stalwarts were offered with a four-speed automatic, a four-speed manual box or the ZF five-speed. Also, for the first time an optional limited slip differential was also available. This left hand drive example was registered new in 1967 and is offered with automatic transmission. Presented in metallic yellow paintwork with a contrasting blue factory hard top and dark blue interior, the paintwork retains a deep shine as does the chromework, and the interior is in good order although there are some age related blemishes throughout, as you would expect for a car of this age. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until April 2023, the current UK V5C registration document and sundry invoices. These are sought after models and totally restored examples are fetching six figure sums in some instances.

Lot 261

1988 Excalibur Series V Four-Door Saloon Transmission: automaticMileage:37923With styling based on the 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK, the Excalibur was designed by Brook Stevens for Studebaker who then formed a company to manufacture and market the cars. These handcrafted luxury cars are manufactured in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and are fitted with drive train and suspension systems from General Motors. These rear-wheel drive, four-speed, automatic cars are well equipped and proved popular with many American stars including Sonny and Cher, Tony Curtis and the comedienne Phyllis Diller who owned four of them. This extremely rare Series V, four-door, version is finished in Antique White and trimmed in Dove Grey leather with burgundy piping. The interior is complemented by a walnut dashboard and door cappings and the look is enhanced with wire wheels and an abundance of chrome. This low mileage example shows only two previous owners since its arrival in the UK in 2005. The history file for this Excalibur contains a V5 registration document and previous MoT test certificates, also included is the original price lists, specification sheets and a sales brochure. Realistically priced, this head turning luxury car has enormous kerb appeal and would be ideal as a wedding or prom car or just a wonderful addition to any car collection.Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead.

Lot 262

1989 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL€“32 Transmission: automaticMileage:70489Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, as it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore, the SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-lock braking for added reassurance. This 1989 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL 32 valve was supplied new to HRH King Abdullah of Jordan when he was the Crown Prince and kept at his London home. Purchased by the current owner in 2008 and having covered just over 62,000 miles, the car came with a good Mercedes-Benz service history. In his ownership, our vendor has only covered a further 8,000 miles and kept the car well maintained. Finished in dark blue with matching hardtop and tan interior, this 500 SL is supplied with AGM alloy wheels, air conditioning, a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in October 2023, the service book which is stamped up to 2007 at 62,005 miles and various invoices. These incredibly accomplished, five litre sportscars represent a truly advanced way to travel.

Lot 268

1971 Mercedes-Benz 230 Limousine Transmission: automaticMileage:44900  The name Limousine or Limo, as they are popularly known, originated from the Limousin region in central France from a type of hood worn by the population that resembled the covering for a carriage. Later, it was known as the cover for the driver on an automobile, while today, it is known as a luxury vehicle that has a longer frame and wheelbase to accommodate more space behind the driver, at times more than is needed. There are also models that are stretched to accommodate further passengers and include a further seating arrangement behind the driver. These seats face forward and may be folded in the down (and out of the way) position. In general limousines have either six or eight seats - the Mercedes-Benz 230 being one of these. The W114/W115 models were the first post-war Mercedes-Benz production car to use a newly engineered chassis, not derived from preceding models. The new chassis format of semi-trailing rear arms and ball-joint front end would be used in all new Mercedes passenger car models until the development of the multi-link rear suspensions of the 1980's. Originally registered on 13th September 1972 this W114 Limousine is finished in white with tan vinyl interior, boasts the rare sliding glass divide and is capable of carrying up to eight passengers. The bodywork is in good order throughout and the trim, finished in tan, is particularly smart. The middle (jump) seats fold away easily to leave plenty of legroom for the rear passengers. Ample chromework adorns this example and again this is in good order. Power is delivered by the 2292cc six-cylinder petrol engine and the car is described by the vendor as driving very well; this 230 Limousine is offered for sale with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate until March 2023. A treasured car from our vendor who has owned it since 2008, boasts genuine low mileage and is a versatile and handsome period Mercedes-Benz. Guide Price £8,000 - £15,000

Lot 269

2000 Mercedes-Benz CL 500 Transmission: automaticMileage:139000Introduced in August 1991 the first generation CL-Class Coupé was designed by Bruno Sacco. Renowned for its wonderful build quality and refinement, it boasted such niceties as double pane window glazing and self-closing doors/boot. Based upon a rigid monocoque bodyshell equipped with all round independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and power assisted steering. A challenger for the title of 'best car in the world', the Stuttgart manufacturer's flagship could be had in standard saloon, long wheelbase or fixedhead Coupé guises. Though, many felt that the latter variant was by far the best looking. Electronically limited to 155mph, the CL 500 Coupé was powered by a 4973cc DOHC 32-valve V8 engine. Known internally as the M119, this imposing unit was credited with 322bhp and 354lbft of torque. Mated to standard fit automatic transmission, it reputedly enabled the sleek two-door to sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds. Facelifted in 1997 with a new grille design and clear indicators etc, the CL Coupé range was phased out for the 2000 model year. The C140's Coupé's physical appearance changed little over the years, although the class underwent a name change several times.Originally registered on 1st October 2000, this CL 500 presents very nicely in the most popular colour combination for this model, of metallic silver with a contrasting black interior. This Mercedes has been well maintained and has recently benefitted from a service. The 4973cc engine starts on the button and has brisk performance as one would expect. Comfort, luxury and style are words easily used when describing these W140 Coupés. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a fresh MoT test certificate and various bills and receipts, this impressive Mercedes offers top of the range motoring for a modest outlay.

It was launched at the Paris Motor Show and signalled a shift in management thinking at Stuttgart about what made a successful luxury Coupé. Sporting a longer wheelbase and sufficient interior room for four, the SLC was a sleek two-door car that combined the seating advantages of a four-door saloon with the style of a sporty Coupé.This nice left hand drive example is presented in white with grey/black interior which has been reupholstered in herringbone and looks very presentable indeed. The car comes with electric windows, cassette radio, some previous servicing receipts, old MoT test certificates and its UK V5 Registration Document. These 2+2 German luxury touring sports Coupés are very sought after and being offered at No reserve, this example is surely one to go for!Interested parties should note that this car has developed an electrical fault which now prevents it from starting. Also, it has partially seized on its brakes and cannot be driven away and will need transporting.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC €˜Carat Duchatelet' Transmission: automaticMileage:97716Mercedes-Benz set out to build the best luxury car in the world and for the duration of the 1980s the W126 C-Class succeeded admirably in achieving this goal. The W126 model employed a new range of light alloy V8 engines and more aerodynamic shape over the previous S-Class, significantly improving fuel consumption. At the 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show the flagship model was unveiled, badged the 560 SEC, with further mechanical improvements including dual-range (Sport and Economy) automatic transmission and revised 15€ alloy wheels and upgraded brakes. The lower body sills were redesigned, giving the SEC a cleaner look, while the 560 model benefited from 215/65 tyres, ABS, speed-sensitive suspension and various interior upgrades. The 560's M117 V8 engine was rated at 300bhp, with 325lb/ft of torque on tap, resulting in a top speed of 150mph with acceleration to match.Registered new on 31st May 1989 this example is offered in good order and has been upgraded to Carat Duchatelet specification. Presented in metallic grey coachwork over a beige leather interior this 560 SEC looks fantastic with its upgraded alloy wheels. Offered with a sizeable history file including the original book pack and service book, sundry invoices, and the UK V5C registration document. This superb looking car is offered without reserve and we expect it will be keenly contested at auction. Interested parties should note that this example was registered as a category D Insurance Loss in 2002 for light damage but has since been professionally repaired.
