Rare A.L.S., Mercedes, three pages, small 8vo, Madrid, 4th April 1904, to Isa. On a flourished colour paper writing, Maria de las Mercedes thanks her correspondent for her sweet letter and states `How glad you will be to have soon Amelie with you in Villamanrique. Today all have gone to the Toros except my husband and I that have been to see the poor Duchess of Fernan Nuñez and her three grand children. They are really so affected that one feels all the more for them. Specially the children find the home so fearfully lonely.´ and further referring to her brother King Alfonso XIII, `Will you still be in Andalucia when my brother will go beginning of May?´. VG. 100-120 Isabelle d´Orleans (1878-1961) French Princess and Duchess of Guise. Maria de las Mercedes was for a period of six months 1885-86 the extant Head of the State of Spain when her father King Alfonso XII (1857-1885) died. At that time her mother Maria Christina of Austria (1858-1929), Queen Consort of Spain, was pregnant, and had her younger sibling been a daughter, she would have become Queen Regent of Spain. The baby would be a boy, future King Alfonso XIII. Maria de las Mercedes died 6 months after this later date at the early age of 24.

A 1983 manual Mercedes 280 SL Owned by the current vendor for twelve years, the Mercedes comes in a rare two tone green colour and has covered 100,927 approx miles. The 280 SL is part of a very special lineage starting with the famous 300 SL 'Gull Wing'. The Mercedes is fitted with a 2746 engine, manual five speed gearbox and comes with an MOT until August 2016, registration EAV 684Y. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: Mercedes 1983 Manual 280 SL MOT to 10th August 2016. 100297 miles. Exterior: Paintwork in overall good condition, slight marks on boot lid. Slight bubbles on hard top roof, corrosion at bottom of offside front and rear wheel arch. Chromework in average condition. Tyres in average condition, all four wheels have corrosion. Bubbling on top of front offside wing. Interior: Average condition, wear in base of passenger seat. Small crack on dashboard top. Chassis: Has been undersealed. Heavy corrosion to both nearside and offside sills. Recent full exhaust replacement. Window rubber seals on both doors are perished. Engine bay: Corrosion on bottom of radiator. No obvious signs of body corrosion. Minor surface rust on brake master cylinder. Slight surface rust on under side of bonnet.

A 1973 Mercedes-Benz 350SE, registration number COD 700L, chassis number 11602822006794, engine number 11698322004643, metallic gold. One family owned (father and son) from new, this original 3.5 litre example was manufactured on 31st December 1972 and registered to its first owner on 2nd May 1973 with the distinctive registration COD 700L, which was very apt as Britain was in the midst of a cod war at the time. This example has been cherished by its two owners with the son taking over the custodianship from 1989. Finished in the very 1970s colour combination of metallic gold with a green velour interior and its original Bosch radio, the Mercedes has covered nearly 109,400 miles from new, with very little mileage having been added to the odometer in the last few years. The accompanying history file contains expired MOTs, the original Mercedes-Benz build cards, two V5s and a photograph of the Mercedes outside Buckingham Palace when the car was used to transport the vendor's wife to her investiture.
