Brevet + 490xx (struck through) 892xx, bi-directional revolving bezel with calibrated black insert, Swiss 'tropical' black dial with luminous dot and baton markers, outer minute track, sweep centre seconds and Mercedes hands, with gilded text and marked in white '100m = 330ft', cal. 1030 25 jewel movement, no. N573843, screw-down crown, inside case back numbered 6536 and 6538 (struck through), rivet Oyster bracelet, the clasp dated '2.65', bezel 37mm diameter - ** Purchased by the vendor's father in 1965, aged just 17 from a jeweller in London, for a while he lived in Kenya and wore the watch until 1991. He then gifted the watch to his son, the present owner for his 18th birthday and it has been worn for the past 25 years. - It has undergone three services, 1998 by Rolex Hong Kong, 2008 serviced by a vintage watch specialist in Derbyshire and more recently in 2014 serviced by Russell Talerman in Mayfair, London . The image shown depicts the vendors father wearing the watch aged 18, cutting the first crop of oilseed rape grown in Kenya, 1966. - Condition Report: - Movement - currently functioning. Dial - the dial has a tropical patina/appearance with crazing/crackling to the surface which is consistent all over, the dot and baton markers with typical visible staining, the gilding is now showing an orange appearance.
