A long hairline from the bottom of the neck through the body of approx. 24cm to the same vase.Both vases have wear to the enamel and firing imperfections including pitting, iron spots and fritting. The unrestored vase with cracks to the foot that appears to be firing imperfections.

A Chinese iron red enamelled 'shou' cupQing dynasty, Daoguang mark and periodWith a short straight foot rising to gilded foliate rim, painted to the exterior with shou characters in various fonts, the six-character seal mark in iron-red to base.6.7cm diameter.Provenance: the Collection of Mengbi (1888-1970).Mr. Mengbi (1888-1970) was the grandfather of the present owner. A native of Shunde, Guangdong, he moved to Malaysia in 1906 and founded Malaysia's first integrated rubber factory in 1921, which is still run by his family today. He was very fond of art, so he became an avid collector and associated with literati and artists, amongst whom Wen Yongchen, Xu Beihong and Liu Haisu.清道光 礬紅描金繪壽字紋杯,礬紅「大清道光年製」篆書款夢弼先生(1888-1970)乃現藏家祖父。廣東順德人,一九〇六年南下馬來西亞,一九二一年創立大馬首個集成橡膠廠,至今仍由其家族經營。夢弼性耽藝術,好收藏。喜交文人雅士,於藝術家溫永琛,徐悲鴻及劉海粟相交。Condition Report: 品項報告There are hairlines from the rim, wear to the enamel. A Chinese turquoise-ground fahua-glazed baluster vase, meipingMing dynasty, 16th centuryOutlined in shallow relief and enamelled in aubergine, pale yellow and deep blue with two figures under a pine tree and beside a dwelling, the shoulders adorned with large ruyi-heads enclosing lotus blooms, with upright lappet borders encircling the foot.30cm high.明十六世紀 松石綠地琺華人物故事圖紋梅瓶On fahua-decorated ceramics, thin, raised slip lines are used to outline areas of the decoration. Once fired, enamels are applied and the raised slip lines inhibit different coloured enamels from flowing into each other. This style on stoneware or porcelain resembles cloisonné metalwork. It is unusual to have turquoise enamel as the prominent colour, as deep blue is often favoured. Cf. For a vase with similar decoration but with a deep blue ground see Sotheby’s, Important Chinese Art, 3rd November 2021, lot 156. Condition Report: general expected firing imperfections including some crazing, with multiple 0.5-5cm raised slip lines chipped off, upper body broken off in several sections and restored with associated overpainting.

(3)民國 - 二十世紀  宜興紫砂壺三件Condition Report: Square teapot wit small flakes to two corner edges of cover and at least three small chips to edge of foot. A couple of further nibbles to edges.Enamelled brown teapot with overhead handle with a couple of tiny nibbles to the spout and to the edge of the mouth. There is some reddish hue coming through underneath the surface, suggesting this may be a red clay teapot which has been covered in brown slip. Cylindrical teapot with shallow flake to underside of cover rim.All with expected surface wear and slight wear to enamels.

Expected firing imperfections including some pitting and short firing cracks.Additionally:The large teapot with restoration to tip of spout and nibbling to the edge of the interior rim of cover.Smaller teapot with one shallow surface flake to the foot.Gravy boat with handle broken off and reattached.Of the larger tea cups, seven with at least one hairline each - of these, at least one has three hairlines and one has two, whilst another has also a small rim chip.The smaller tea cups each with at least a rim hairline.Conical dish with two shallow flakes to the exterior of the rim.Three smaller saucers, one with large rim hairline.The larger saucers, one with at least three rim hairlines and some associated rim nibbles. One with at least one hairline and associated rim nibble, another with two hairlines at least, and one associated rim nibble.Two of the side dishes have been repaired with either glue or staples. Five in good condition with general wear to the enamel commensurate with age. The rest with chips or hairlines.

A bracket is missing to each side of the stand, the ruyi handle to the right side of the stand has been restored. Expected staiing, scratching to the wood stand commensurate with age.

Three Chinese export famille rose tureens and coversQing Dynasty, 18th centuryComprising: a faceted tureen painted to the body with roses and garlands, flanked by a pair of stylised handles to the sides, the cover similarly painted with a gilt fruit atop the centre of the elliptical dome, 30cm across; two circular tureens, each painted with flowers and stylised rocks, flanked by a pair of iron red handles in form of deer heads and shells respectively, 28cm and 29.5cm across. (3)清十八世紀 外銷粉彩繪花卉圖紋湯鍋連蓋三只Condition Report: The circular tureen with deer handles: a patch of crazing to the inside of the tureen, a chip of 1.5cm long and nibbles to the footrim. A chip to the top of the pierced finial to the cover of approx. 1.5 x 1.5cm, a chip to the inner rim of the cover of approx, 1cm.The circular tureen with shell handles: good condition.Faceted tureen: crazing to the inside of the cover, good condition.All three tureens with wear to the gilt, enamel and glaze commensurate with age, firing fault including yellowing to the glaze, pitting and iron spots.

A Chinese en-grisaille, gilt and reouge-de-fer 'Ovando' armorial plate for the Spanish marketQing dynasty, Qianlong period, circa 1750Enamelled and gilt to the centre with the coat-of-arms of José de Ovando y Solís, 1st Marquis of Ovando (1693-1755), with a marquis coronet as a crest, surrounded by an elaborate diamond trelliswork and framed by rococo scrolls and the letters OBANDO in gold, the rim with elaborate border with peacocks and daisies, based on border designs of the Royal Vienna porcelain factory founded in 1717.29cm diameter.清乾隆約一七五零 外銷西班牙墨彩描金繪奧萬多(Ovando)家族徽章盤José de Ovando y Solís, 1st Marquis of Ovando (1693-1755) was born in Cáceres in Spain and took part in the Spanish War of Succession ((1701 - 1714), siding with the Austrians. He chose a career in the military, enlisting in the Regimen of the Crown and later in the naval battalions, soon rising through the ranks to become governor of the South China Sea in 1743, then Governor of Chile two years later, and Governor General of the Philippines between 1750-1754.This plate comes from the first of two services ordered by him, probably when he first arrived in Manila in 1750.This service is illustrated by Jorge Welsh & Rocio Diaz in Chinese Armorial for Spain (Jorge Welsh Books, London and Lisbon, November, 2010, n. 10, pp. 130-133), with a cup from the V&A and a plate from a private collection.A number of pieces from this service are in museum collections worldwide, including the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas (Madrid), the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), The Museo Historico de Acapulco – Fuerte de San Diego (see, Porcelain de la Compana de Indias para Mexico, exhibition catalogue Instituto national de Antropologica, Historia Mexico City, 2002, p. 74).Condition Report: Rim hairline, approx 10cm long. A pair of Chinese famille rose jars and coversQing dynasty, late 19th centuryPainted to the domed covers and bodies with scattered design of floral sprays and insects, with blue enamel border, 16.5cm high, diameter 19.5cm十九世紀晚期 粉彩繪花卉圖紋蓋罐一對Condition Report: 品相報告The is a chip of approx. 0.7cm associated with cracks, two chipped area opposite each other of approx. 0.7 x 0.4cm and 0.4 x 0.3cm,  all to the inner rim of one cover. The other cover is broken into two halves and restored with staples to the inside, which associated with a chip to the rim of the cover with amateur restoration. Both covers with chips to the enamels to the band of ruyi heads, with general surface wear to the surface. There are chips to the extremities to the looped hole and wear to the gilding to both jars. There is wear to the enamel and scratches to the surface to both jars. One jar with a small crack to the foot rim which appears to be firing flaw.

An area to the foot rim and the inside of the foot of approx. 1.5 x 1cm across, which appears to be a firing imperfection filled with unknown substance, possibly with an area of restored chip of 0.5 x 0.5cm to the centre. Otherwise good condition. Restoration to wood stand, and a section of the top rim to the wood stand is broken off.

The plate with redcurrants has several large hairline cracks, various chips and crazing.The cobnut plate again heavily cracked and crazed throughout and with chips.The apple plate has surface scratching variously and losses to the gilding.The pear plate - has surface scratching and losses to the gilding.The apple decorated tazza has discolouration and surface scratching and couple of firing faults.The plum tazza has severe discolouration to the plums, surface scratching, etc.All items with general wear and tear conducive with age and use to include surface scatches, wear to the gilding and enamel work. Significant wear to the gilding on the extremities. Wear, losses to the enamel and giltwork variously throughout, surface scratches etc. There is a hairline crack to the base corner of one floral decorated panel. General wear and tear conducive with age and use to include firing faults, surface scratches etc - see images for more details

Lot 53

A Chinese cloisonné vase in the Qianlong manner, the ribbed waisted neck with archaic style script decoration on a turquoise ground within two yellow ground bands, the main bulbous body with all over floral, foliate and bat decoration raised on a circular foot with gilded underside now as a lamp with drilled base, vase height 32.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Has all over pinhead firing faults to the enamel work. Has been drilled through the base, converted to a lamp. There is an area which appears to have some cracking/possibly a small knock at some point just on the hip of the vase. Just running down from the knock there is a slgihtly flattened area to the body which has small damage to the enamel work - see images. General wear and tear, in need of a good clean, patination etc - see images for more details

A pair of 19th Century Chinese famille rose vases, the main body decorated with panels of figures in household settings and phoenix among blossoming foliage with Dog of Fo embellishments interspersed by further figural medallions on a lattice rouleau work ground raised on a circular foot, the shoulders decorated with panels of exotic birds amongst foliage on a floral and foliate gilt ground, the neck decorated with figures in an interior setting opposite birds amongst blossoming foliage surmounted by a rose decorated rim with floral sprays to the interior, top 18 cm diameter x 62.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS One of the pair has some overpainting/possible repair to its main body visible under UV and also with the naked eye to one panel. The area of appeared overpainting shows up under UV in approximately the same place as the other. Also has an area of discolouration to the enamel ware - it is also a bit rough in texture and looks a bit smoky to the hip and neck area. General wear and tear to include surface scratches, firing faults and losses to the enamel work throughout - see images for more details
