Medal, France, Société d'Encouragement au Dévouement, Croix d'Honneur, gilt metal and enamel, pie pelican suspense with watered silk ribbon, box of issue, 1919 - 1939The Societe, was founded as the Société Républicaine d'Encouragement au Dévouement in 1910 to defend moral values and promote initiatives and encourage bravery. The word Républicaine was dropped during the First World War thus dating this specimen with a bit more precision.

Silver Order of the Thistle Star mounted with gilt oval bearing the legend "Nemo me impune lacessit. The Royal Regiment"; within the oval, the pierced Order of the Thistle Collar, St.Andrew and Cross to centre set on a rich blue replacement enamel ground. Reverse with brooch pin. VGC Blue enamel centre worn by Officers of the 1st Battalion, green enamel by those of the 2nd Battalion.

Crowned star mounted with laurel wreath and Garter, the black velvet centre mounted with a star bearing Maltese cross with stag on blue translucent enamel. Mounted on the base of the wreath, a tri-part scroll "The Bedfordshire Regiment" with supplementary scroll below inscribed "1st Volunteer Battalion". Three loops to reverse. VGC

Mounted to centre, a facetted silver star of the Order of the Garter. The gilt pierced Garter is set onto blue enamelled ground; to the centre of the Star, the Cross of St. George in red enamel. Imperial Russian Czar's Horse Guard Officer's helmet. A magnificent and rare example. Gilt Tombac skull surmounted by splendid gilt metal double-headed ornate Imperial eagle with shield of St. George on its breast, the wings are finely crafted with detail of the feathers; secured by gilt domed studs which terminate internally in screw posts with hooped nuts. The lobster tail has three mock scales and decorated with silvered rivet heads, the silvered decoration is repeated to the edge of the helmet. Gilt metal bosses support National cockade and gilded chin scales. To the front a helmet plate comprising an eight pointed silvered star, with Cyrillic motto on rich blue translucent enamel ground. The central black enamelled eagle bears blue enamel St. Andrew's Cross. The front peak and rear lobster tail are lined with brown velvet. Wide soft leather adjustable sweatband, grey silk lining correctly parted along the centre. Minor service and age wear. VGC
German Third Reich Hitler Youth Knife by P. Lungstrass, Solingen-Ohligs. A good example by scarce maker with the blade reverse bearing stamped hanging light logo, obverse bearing motto "Blut und Ehre". Nickel plated turn up quillon and pommel with two piece black chequered composition grip inlaid with red and white enamel HJ swastika diamond. Housed in black painted scabbard with black leather belt loop and securing strap. Minor service wear. GC Introduced in 1933 with the motto "Blut und Ehre" on the blade. Motto discontinued in August 1938.
39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot, Victorian Officer's shoulder belt plate circa 1825-55. A splendid rare gilt example. Rectangular plate, seeded and with burnished edges, mounted with silver star bearing gilt crowned pierced strap "39th or Dorsetshire" on a blue enamel ground. Centrally, on light green enamel ground, gilt Gibraltar Castle and Key with a scroll "Montis Insignia Calpe". Above the star, a gilt scroll "Primus In Indis"; below the star, a number of ornate battle honour scrolls. Two hooks two studs to reverse, complete with leather liner. VGC (Parkyn 316)

German Third Reich WW2 War Order of the German Cross in gold by C.F. Zimmermann, Pforzheim. A fine and scarce example. Eight pointed silver star with slightly smaller dark overlay. Mounted on the star, set on a red enamel ground, a gilt laurel wreath with "1941" at the base. Within the wreath, a silvered edged black enamel swastika set on a matt silver ground. The front secured with four ‘open' rivets, complete with vertical tapered pin, the underside of which is stamped "20". VGC Instituted by Adolf Hitler for the Wehrmacht on 29th September 1941 and designed by Professor Klien of Munich.
