World War I, War medal to the 2nd Viscount Rothermere, Press Magnate and Conservative Politician (Lieut. The Hon. E. C. Harmsworth. R.M.), with Masonic Founder`s Jewel, Kingsgate Lodge, 1926, silver and enamel. Both extremely fine. (2) Esmond Cecil Harmsworth (1898-1978). Son of the founder of the Daily Mail, Harmsworth was educated at Eton then commissioned into the Royal Marine Artillery. Following the War he served as Aide-de-Camp to David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister, at the Paris Peace Conference. He was elected Conservative MP for Kent (Isle of Thanet) in 1919, serving for 10 years. He succeeded to the title in 1940, was four times married, and was Chairman of Associated Newspapers from 1932 to 1971.
