In 1874, the firm acquired a large watch factory in Le Locle, Switzerland.All watches sold by Buhre in Russia, through the firm's two galleries in St. Petersburg and Moscow, were made at Le Locle. The firm was well regarded for quality and design and subsequently they received two Grand Gold medals - one in 1896 in Geneva, another in 1900 at the Paris World Fair.Watches with the Russian Imperial eagle were made by order of the Russian Court as presentation pieces. These watches were never sold to the general public and they didn't feature in the firm's price lists of the period.
