The escapement is a rare version of Berthoud's Detached Pendulum based on a pivoted detent chronometer. Victorian Royal Military Academy Officers Helmet Plate, gilt metal eight pointed star with the top point being replaced by Victorian pattern crown, Laurel wreath applied and garter strap to centre with blue and red enamel backing and VR cipher. Three lug fittings to the reverse of the plate. Much of the original gilded finish remains to the plate.
WW1 German 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class Grouping, consisting of a Iron Cross 2nd class (no ring fitting), original illustrated award citation for the Iron Cross 2nd class dated 1916, aluminium dog tag, veterans medal, enamel pin and three photographs including one of the recipient behind a machine gun. Interesting set.
Third Reich SA Dress Dagger by Ed Wusthof Solingen, good example of a SA dress dagger with dark brown grip having early nickel silver eagle and enamel SA device inserted. The lower guard is stamped “Wf”. Housed in its original scabbard with single brown leather hanging strap attached. Fine quality double edged blade with standard motto, “Alles fur Deutschland”, rear of the blade has makers trade mark, which shows some wear and partly removed. Much of the original finish remains to the blade. The blade measures 22cms, overall 37cms.
Small Third Reich Award Grouping, consisting of silver grade mothers cross in its original paper packet of issue with Foerster & Barth makers details to the reverse; Third Reich 25 year faithful service decoration; 1st pattern Third Reich Arbeitsbuch (Work Book) for a person from Stuttgart with various ink stamps to the inside; small WW1 period bracelet with enamel central cross having the leaders and national flags of the central powers and bracelet section made from captured Russian coins. These items have recently come from a family estate in Germany.

Post 1902 Highland Light Infantry Officers Shoulder Belt Plate, fine rectangular seeded gilt plate with silvered star of the Order of the Thistle, gilt kings crown with red enamel work, silvered horn to the centre with gilt HLI within, below gilt ASSAYE scroll and Elephant. A 19th century blue and white enamelled locket for the Fairfax family, the front with a lion passant guardant above Fare Fac on an engine turned blue enamel ground within a white decorative border, the reverse with the initials FV in white enamel on a blue engine turned enamel ground, the locket opening to reveal a portrait miniature of Thomas Fairfax (1612-1671), the other side with a finely engraved oval panel with coat of arms and inscribed Tho: Fairfax Knt for King & Parl:, 5.5cm long, 35.8g grossThomas Fairfax (1612-1672), third Baron Fairfax of Cameron. Fairfax was the Commander-in-Chief of the Parliamentary forces during the Civil War, a driving force in the development of the New Model Army, and victor at the Battle of Naseby in 1645 and the decisive battle at Langport against the Royalist Army. Although a Parliamentarian, Fairfax was against the proposed execution of Charles I, and fought against it until the end, and was purported to be shocked when meeting Bishop Juxon and Thomas Herbert whilst they were escorting the king's corpse back through the long gallery of Banqueting House, Whitehall. In later life Fairfax played an essential part in the restoration of Charles II to the English throne.The engraved panel is the coat of arms Fairfax would have had between 1641 and 1648, as Thomas was knighted in 1641, and inherited the title Lord Fairfax from his father in 1648. Any coat of arms created after 1648 would have acknowledged his superior position as Lord Fairfax. The portrait miniature inside the locket is after the portrait miniature of Fairfax by John Hoskins (1595-1664) dated 1650, which is in the collection at Leeds Castle.Condition Report: The locket has some losses to the enamel at the suspensory loop in particular, the rest of the enamel has some light scratches and scuffs, some discolouration to the interior gold, no major damage to the miniature, the panel is well engraved, the hinge in good working orderCondition Report Disclaimer

A mid Victorian diamond and emerald brooch, the pierced domed lozenge shaped panel with white and light blue enamel with darker blue enamel highlights, with a central quatrefoil of pear cut emeralds with old cut diamond accents, approximately 0.34 carats total, with later brooch fitting, 3.5cm long, 10g grossCondition Report: There are some losses to the enamel. There are two vacant settings either side of the quatrefoil along the horizontal line. The brooch fitting is later lead soldered on, the setting has a swivelling suspension loop. A George III mahogany and oak long case clock, the square enamel dial painted with floral spandrels, Arabic numerals, date aperture, eight day two train movement with bell strike, the hood with broken arch pediment, raised on brass caped fluted columns, the case door inlaid with shell paterea, flanked by quarter pilasters, with pendulum, no key, 203.5cm high. N.B. Samuel Deacon was born in Leicestershire in 1746 and was head of the celebrated family of watch and clock makers working at Barton-in-the-Beans from 1771 until 1951. Leicestershire Museums have a collection of his clocks and workshop tools, etc,. He is well documented.
