Scarce Transitional Pattern SS (Schutzstaffel) Enlisted Mans Dress Dagger by Carl Eickhorn Solingen, fine example with black ebony grip retaining the original eagle and enamel SS runes device. Plated mounts with some lifting. Housed in its original scabbard with plated mounts which show some spotting. Good condition double edged blade with motto “Meine Ehre heist Treue” in gothic lettering. Reverse side of the blade has the Eickhorn Solingen logo and also the RZM mark with 941/38 and SS runes. Some expected wear but generally a good example. SS mans daggers with the transitional blades having makers mark and RZM mark are very hard to find compared to that of the SA dagger.

1930’s 18ct Gold, Platinum and Diamond Royal Air Force Sweetheart Brooch Retailed by Harrods, London, superb quality brooch in the form of a pair of Royal Air Force pilots wings produced in 18ct gold and finished in platinum with green enamel wreath and red enamel to the interior of the crown. The brooch is mounted with small cut diamonds to the wings and crown. Brooch pin fitting to the reverse. Housed in the original Harrods, London leatherette case. CONDITION REPORT: Wingspan is 6cms, height 2cms. Weight 7grams. Condition is very good with just one potentially missing stone. The leather case shows some wear with one of the feet now absent.

Third Reich Sturmabteilung (S.A) Dress Dagger by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good untouched example with wooden grip having early copper based nickel silver eagle and enamel SA device inserted. Nickel silver mounts with patina. Reverse of the cross guard stamped ‘Ns’. Housed in early pattern anodised scabbard with nickel silver mounts, these again with nice patina. Mounted to the hanging ring is a brown leather two piece hanging strap. Double edged blade with motto ‘Alles fur Deutschland’. Reverse of the blade with makers trade mark. Some spotting to the blade and patina to the exterior fittings. Blade 22 ¼ cms, overall 38cms.

The business became styled as M. Rettie & Son (c.1839) when William Rettie joined the firm, and later another son, James, also became a partner (c.1845). Rettie and Son worked between 1824 and 1892 and were well known for their jewellery using local granite.
