Garnets have further crystal inclusions indicative of garnets. Mount in good order, Pin not gold. All little rose cut diamonds are in situ, between the garnets.Cross; all diamonds are in situ. There are several flakes to the enamel none are full thickness, they can only be seen with a loope. mount otherwise good, no makers mark or hallmark on either item"

Inside the locket is an inscription ' My only child born 1st October 1831, died 9th March 1857 at Bushire Persia. Lieut. 78th Highlanders' with a lock of hair. The outer case is set with a yellow metal mounted baby tooth, under glazed panel. Dimensions with bail, 4.6cm x 2.6cm Condition Report:Some small looses to the enamel, none full thickness. Where the tooth is is a bit dusty inside.

A VICTORIAN MOURNING LOCKET AND CHAIN set with an old cushion cut diamond of estimated approx 0.85cts, the yellow metal locket has black enamel to both sides and to the bail, with a rose cut diamond set star motif and bail. Dimensions 3.2cm with bail x 2.3cm. approx weight 16.8gms. the decorative ribbon chain, made in yellow metal is 0.5cm wide x 45cm long. weight together 32.8gms Condition Report:locket;- I have taken the diamond out before it fell out, three claws are missing, and it looks like someone has tried to fix this with lead at some point. this means I have been able to weigh the diamond properly at 0.85cts, my usual method of putting the dimensions through a computer program made it 0.81cts, but that will not be taking into account this is a hand cut diamond, and a bit fatter than usual. Enamel;There are a few chips that are full thickness, two of approx 1mm squared by the 'thumb nail' point and on the bail, with further related flakes, the rest light general dinks and scratches.Chain; the chain is delicate, possibly not made to carry the weight of this locket, it has been professionally gold soldered in several places already and is wafer thin in places. Clasp good.
