A pair of massive Japanese cloisonné ovoid vasesMeiji period (1868-1912), with slightly everted top rims, the silver and gold wire decorated bodies encircled by geese amongst various flowers and grasses on a mottled red/black ground, above a deep band of breaking waves and between further deep bands of stylised bird and floral motifs, 18in. (45.7cm.) high. (2)CONDITION REPORT: One vase has a small flake of enamel from the mottled surface beside a head of white grass seeds - approx. 13 cm. down from neck rim (flake approx. 1 cm. wide x 0.5 cm deep). A pair of brick red ground Japanese cloisonné vasesMeiji period, of slender, square section, with two gauge silver wire decoration of prolific prunus blossoms behind a small woven fence surrounded by irises and other flowers, the waisted neck and flared foot with decorative bands of blue and green lappets and lunettes, both reverses with three irises and buds, 6 1/8in. (15.5cm.) high. (2)CONDITION REPORT: One vase has an almost imperceptible bruise to iris leaves just above foot - leaving short crazing and a small chip from the green enamel - approx. 2.5mm long. Another, the same size to the red ground, below and to the right. The other vase is undamaged. Otherwise, just expected minor pitting to the surface of the enamel, from the making. A Japanese cloisonné parasol handleMeiji period (1868-1912), decorated with polychrome flowers on a pink ground, a dark blue and red collar between the handle and ball knop, 6¾in. (17cm.) long, on an Edwardian purple silk parasol.CONDITION REPORT: Bruised area with four impact marks to one side of knop (one has a shallow flake of enamel missing) and one other small bruise to side. Three small bruise marks to end of knop. Hairline cracking to enamel all around to centre of handle. Silk in good condition, with no fading and just one small hole towards top. Small strap to secure silk when shut is frayed and missing popper.

A fine pair of Japanese silver wire cloisonné vasesMeiji period (1868-1912), of squared baluster form, with elegant waisted necks and slightly flared rounded rectangular feet, finely decorated with wisteria overarching a mass of garden flowers including irises, lilies, chrysanthemums and anemones, on a dark blue ground, the neck and foot rims with bands of stylised floral decoration, 6in. (15.2cm.) high, one with restoration. (2)CONDITION REPORT: Vase 1: A band of fine hairline stress cracks to centre of neck, with three minute flakes of enamel missing from along the cracks. Two small bruises to back and one side of vase, just below shoulder. Two minute chips to surface of enamel and a minute bruise to other side.Vase 2: A band of fine hairline stress cracks to centre of neck, with some filling and retouching to this area. Also, an area of restoration to the back, on one corner of the shoulder, where a bump and losses to the enamel have been filled (this is in a plain blue area, on the ground). Five other tiny bruises to the corners of the shoulder elsewhere. See Illustration.
