A Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Koro and Cover, by Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927), circa 1880-1890, of spherical form, the domed cover with chrysanthemum finial, worked in coloured enamels and gold and silver wire with three cream coloured panels with insects amongst flowering branches on a dark blue ground with scattered chrysanthemums within formal panelled borders, four character signature to silver tablet, 11.5cm high See illustration Having been a Samurai, Namikawa Yasuyuki began working as an artist after the Restoration of the Meiji Dynasty. He joined the Kyoto Cloisonne Company in 1871, leaving three years later to form his own company, whose works were displayed at several international exhibitions, and visits to his workshop became popular with foreign visitors, including Rudyard Kipling. The quality of his work received recognition in 1896 when he became one of only two cloisonne artists ever to be appointed Imperial Household Artist to create works of art for the Tokyo Imperial Palace and other Imperial residences. Examples of his work are on display in the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Ashmolean Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Khalili Collection of Japanese Art, as well as various museums in Japan. Some typical minor flaws to enamel. Three small areas of loss to gilding on upper rim of pot. Some very minor surface wear throughout.

The pendant is in fair condition. Some of the seed pearl detailing has become loose. It bears no hallmark nor stamp. Gross weight 37.2 grams. CR made 08.02.21.

~ Two Enamelled Gilt-Metal Propelling Pencils, First Half 20th Century, each modelled as a differing Egyptian sarcophagus, with vari-colour enamel, each with suspension loop, 12.5cm long extended and smaller (2) . Each opens fully and properly. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. There are some minor chips and losses to the enamel.

~ A Fine 18 Carat Gold Repeating Pocket Watch with Calendar and Lunar Phase Indications, signed Hubert Sarton A Liege, circa 1800, gilt fusee movement signed Hubt Sarton A Liege, pierced balance bridge with a ruby endstone, plunge pendant to operate repeat with two polished steel hammers striking the inside of the case, enamel dial with Arabic numerals, four dials for day (in French), date, lunar phases, and seconds, dial outer border depicting months of the year, gold beetle and poker hands, case back of the case engraved with measures in four quadrants, for Long Measure, Wine Measure, Dry Measure and Avoirdupoise Weight, surrounding a central engraved cypher with baronets badge and the outer case edge inscribed 'Sir Nigel Bowyer Gresley, Bart Drakelow, Derbyshire', for Sir Nigel, 7th Baronet (1753-1808), consular case stamped inside the back cover 18k, case maker's mark FIRL and numbered 1899, 62mm wide Provenance: Sir Nigel Bowyer Gresley, 7th Baronet and probably by descent to his daughter Emma Sophia, who married Richard Edensor Heathcote, M.P. 09.02.21 Case with surface scratches, back cover with dents, back cover engraved throughout with measures in four quadrants and with a central cypher with baronets badge and an outer inscription, glass with scratches, dial with chips and small hairline cracks between 3 and 4 o'clock, dial with other minor scratches, fusee chain is still visible but has disconnected from the barrel, movement and repeat are not working at present. Total watch weight 161g.

~ A Gilt Metal William Pitt Memorial Medal, circa 1806, set with a pâte de verre cameo bust of Pitt within a motto NON SIBI SED PATRIAE VIXIT below a laurel wreath, the reverse with enamel panel inscribed PITT CLUB on a textured ground, further inscribed SIR JOHN HEATHCOTE within a blue enamel rim inscribed in gilt In Memory of the Rt Honourable Wm Pitt Died 23 January 1806 aged 47, 5cm, with suspension loop and blue ribbon, in red morocco case; and A Similar Gilt Metal Pitt Club Medal, inscribed SIR I E HEATHCOTE KNT (lacking cameo and enamel) (2) See illustration The original London Pitt Club was founded in 1793 by Nathaniel Atcheson of the Middle Temple to counteract the principles disseminated by the partisans of the French Revolution. Its meetings were held on the birthdays of the King and Queen, but after Mr Pitt's retirement from office and the celebrated meeting of 1802 at which upwards of 900 people attended the Hall of the Merchant Taylors, the members of this association met on the anniversaries of Mr Pitt's birthday until 1808 when it was thought a more extensive society might be formed to perpetuate the principles of this illustrious statesman. The first dinner held in 1808 cost £841-8-6. Subsequently, approximately 45 country clubs were established and many of these issued badges in bronze, silver gilt and silver, as well as in pewter. Rule 10 of the London club reads That each member shall wear at all meetings of the Club the Pitt medal, tied on his left breast with a garter blue ribbon and that the larger medal with the wider ribbon be worn by the chairman of the day.. As per description the 2nd medal lacking the cameo, this medal also has some wear and minor dents.

Only the upper section of the potpourri present, as stated and there is significant rubbing to the gilding, a firing crack and further rubbing to the detail. Both Imari dishes with heavy rubbing, fritting and some small chips. The blue and white ware with usual scuffs and scrapes commensurate with age and use. The Hummel figures with light surface wear, some rubbing to the detail and crazing. Satsuma vases crazed with rubbing to the gilding.
