After serving with the Hanoverian army at the Battle of Falkirk in 1746, he became an aide-de-camp and confidant to Prince William, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765). By 1761 Masterson had risen to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and became Deputy Adjutant-General for Ireland. His military career continued to flourish, as he went on to serve with the Duke of Cumberland in Portugal and Germany during the Seven Years War. Masterson was to retire from Cumberland's staff in 1762 with the rank of General, and continued a political career as MP for Stirling Burghs in 1768. After his subsequent electoral defeat Masterson was to reside in London at 4 Sackville Street and died unmarried on 7 August 1777.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Collection for all lots is strictly by appointment at Otterbeck Hall, Chinley, SK23 6AH where all items are located. We request that items are collected on either Wednesday 13th or Thursday 14th April when Bamfords staff will be in attendance. In circumstances where buyers are unable to attend on these days members of the Stoodley family have kindly agreed to be present from Friday 15th to Monday 18th April at 12pm, however all lots must have been paid for by Thursday 14th April. The numismatic archive of the late Graham Teasdill, comprising an extensive correspondence from 1954 to 2006, including ALS and TLS from Marion Archibald, David Atkinson MP, Ted Bannister, John Ferrett, Otto von Habsburg, David Harkness, Horace King, Howard Linecar, Peter Seaby, Geoffrey Watson and various European mints and national banks from the 1950s and 1960s, together with articles, press cuttings, an extensive group of material and MSS relating to hoards and single finds from the Bournemouth and East Dorset areas and associated coroner’s reports, papers detailing talks given to numismatic societies and an early draft for a proposed catalogue of transport tokens [Lot]. Colonel A. P. Harris on Appointment 1902', height 17cm, approx. weight 6.8oz. Lieut. Colonel Harris took over as Commandant on 18 March 1902. on the 12 January 1922, the Regiment was disbanded as part of the post-World War I reorganisation of the Indian Army.
