An Egyptian tent, circa 1925, of white calico appliquzd overall with hieroglyphs, scarabs and papyrus blooms, comprising: wall panel divided into ten compartments each depicting Pharaohs and handmaidens making offering to assorted deities, supported by integral wooden struts, 230 by 10m; the ceiling canopy centred by a wooden strut support, appliquzd with scarab and papyrus bloom roundels, 4 by 31/2m; an entrance canopy/flap with central scarab motif bordered by two pharoah heads, 31/2 by 4m; and a plain calico external cover, a centre post and two side posts, (qty) This fabulous tent was presented to Sir Henry Cox, the last British Resident of Jordan by King Abdullah of Jordan in the 1930's. Some of the mural designs are interpretations of the decoration of the Temple of Scity at Abdos.
