He was educated at multiple places including St John’s College, Cambridge and then went on to join his father’s successful brewing business in 1786. In 1790, he was elected Member of Parliament for Bedford, a post he held for twenty-three years. He was a champion of religious and civil rights, for the abolition of slavery and a proponent of a national education system.

The copper-alloy Terret of oval form with three domed oval knobs decorated with grooves. Surface pitted, brown-green patina, solid structure and a tactile piece. 29.7g, 55mm long, 38mm wide. PAS Record ID: DOR-C14A55 Provenance: Found Rampisham, West Dorset. A POST MEDIEVAL FOLIATE STRAP MOUNT, A Post Medieval Foliate Strap Mount, c.1500-1700. Künstlerinfo: auch Walter Gasch, dt. Maler, Zeichner, Graphiker, Restaurator, Autor, Violinist, Sportler und NS-Funktionär (1886 Leipzig bis ca. 1962 Nentershausen-Dens bei Bebra), studierte ab 1905 an der Akademie Dresden bei Emanuel Hegenbarth und Oskar Zwintscher, hier Meisterschüler bei Gotthardt Kuehl und später bei Richard Müller, unternahm Studienreisen nach Holland, Frankreich und Italien, ab 1929 Assistent für Licht- und Tiefdruck an der Hochschule für Graphik und Buchkunst Leipzig tätig, als sächsischer Gaufachgruppenleiter der Bildenden Künste der NSDAP ab 1933 maßgeblicher Initiator der restriktiven NS-Kulturpolitik in Dresden, Mitglied der Dresdner Kunstgenossenschaft, Vorstandsmitglied im Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands und Mitglied des "Deutschen Künstlerverbandes Dresden", beschickte 1939 die große Deutsche Kunstausstellung im Haus der Deutschen Kunst München, tätig in Dresden, ab 1945 in Mönchhosbach und ab 1956 in Dens, Quelle: Vollmer, Dressler, Schülerlisten der Dresdner Akademie, Zeitungsartikel der "Fulda-Post" Ostern 1958 und Tsukerman "Geschichte und bildende Kunst - Jahrbuch 2006 für Deutsche Geschichte".

Field Marshal Frederick Roberts VC signed envelope mounted with 10 x 8 inch colour full portrait photo to approx. 16 x 12 inches. Field Marshal Frederick Sleigh Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts, VC, KG, KP, GCB, OM, GCSI, GCIE, VD, PC, FRSGS (30 September 1832 - 14 November 1914) was a British Victorian era general who became one of the most successful British military commanders of his time. Born in India to an Anglo-Irish family, Roberts joined the East India Company Army and served as a young officer in the Indian Rebellion during which he was awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry. He was then transferred to the British Army and fought in the Expedition to Abyssinia and the Second Anglo-Afghan War, in which his exploits earned him widespread fame. Roberts would go on to serve as the Commander-in-Chief, India before leading British Forces for a year during the Second Boer War. Captain Eric Melrose Winkle Brown, CBE, DSC, AFC, Hon FRAeS, RN (21 January 1919 - 21 February 2016) was a British Royal Navy officer and test pilot who flew 487 types of aircraft, more than anyone else in history. Brown holds the world record for the most aircraft carrier deck take-offs and landings performed (2, 407 and 2, 271 respectively) and achieved several firsts in naval aviation, including the first landings on an aircraft carrier of a twin-engined aircraft, an aircraft with a tricycle undercarriage, a jet aircraft, and a rotary-wing aircraft. He flew almost every category of Royal Navy and Royal Air Force aircraft: glider, fighter, bomber, airliner, amphibian, flying boat and helicopter. During World War II, he flew many types of captured German, Italian, and Japanese aircraft, including new jet and rocket aircraft. He was a pioneer of jet technology into the post-war era.
