1949 MG YAReg: DSL 801Chassis no. Y/5773Engine no. XPAG/SC/15611 The MG YA is a small British saloon from the immediate post-war era, although it did have pre-war origins with the initial Y prototype originating before the outbreak of hostilities in Europe. Just over 6,100 YA saloons were produced between 1947-1953.This 1949 saloon received a ground up restoration in Old English White as part of an extensive project between 2002-2005. Purchased by the current owner in 2002, restored over those three years with standout maroon interior, it has since been enjoyed as a weekend car as well as being used in a number of weddings. The 20-year-old restoration has held up well and the car shows just a few age-related imperfections. The vendor reports that it drives well and is mechanically in good shape, although 1st and reverse gears are a little noisy. The sale includes a current V5C document showing just two previous owners, as well as a number of old V5’s and MOT’s. There is also an album of pictures showing the car’s previous extensive restoration. Further documentation provides details of older owners, parts and servicing receipts as well as what appear to be a number of technical manuals for the car, both copies and originals. The combination of cream exterior with maroon interior really sets this car apart from other Y types.Estimate: £6,000 - 8,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. 1948 Vauxhall VeloxReg. no. LYW 438Chassis no. LIP72450Engine no. TBCTransmission: Manual The Velox LIP 4 door saloon was powered by a newly developed 6-cylinder engine and cost £550 including taxes at first production. They were produced across the world from 1948-1951 in the UK, Switzerland, New Zealand and even Australia. This Velox was purchased purely for the use in a family member’s wedding and has seen little work since with the odd Sunday drive out and then put into storage when not in use. The blue paintwork presents well, accented by white wall tyres and chrome trim. The leather interior looks recently trimmed and features blue piping, complimenting the blue carpet. The engine seems to run smoothly although the column shifter linkages in the engine bay do needs some work as it does struggle to engage gears. With a little work this unusual British saloon car offers pre-war luxury in a post-war elegant saloon. The sale includes a current V5 along with some information about the model and a selection of spare parts.Estimate: £5,000 - 7,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. 1952 Riley 1.5 RMEReg: RVT 80Chassis Code: RME 42S 20817Engine Code: RMA10952 Riley’s executive car produced from 1945-1955 is a truly elegant saloon featuring sleek lines and a very spacious interior. The cars featured a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine with manual gearbox and is considered the first post-war Riley. Modern technology was introduced which included hydro-mechanical brakes as well as independent suspension using torsion bars. It is reported that around 10,500 cars were produced. This RME comes from a deceased estate where the gentleman clearly had a love for British cars, it was acquired in 2015 and has been dry stored in current ownership with only occasional use. Despite being MOT exempt it was last MOT’d in 2016 showing 63,000 miles on the odometer. The body and chassis appear to be in good solid condition and the paint appears to just need a good detail and polish to bring it back to its former glory. The leather interior is also in good condition. Having been in storage for some time the car could do with minor recommissioning before it is used again. The car has most recently undergone restoration work in 2020 by Cotswold classic car restorations near Cirencester which included front wing repairs as well as an engine and carburettor service. The sale includes a current V5 document, two sets of keys and a folder of history including original Riley instruction manual, parts manuals, Riley members club magazines and a number of old MOT’s.Estimate: £4,000 - 5,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU.
