Canadian. 24th Kent Regiment post 1907 OR’s helmet plate. A scarce die-stamped brass excavated example. Crowned star bearing maple sprays and circlet “KENT REGIMENT XXIV”, the voided centre, a shield bearing the White Horse of Kent. Between the crown and circlet, a beaver; to the base of the sprays, a scroll “USQUE AD ARAS”’. Loops absent and splits at 4 and 5 o’clock.

Ornate whistle boss of 16 leaves bearing battle honours to “RELIEF OF LADYSMITH” mounted with a Dragon, three strand chain, Egyptian Pharaoh head whistle complete in Sphinx and thistle embossed holder. Royal Artillery post 1901 Officer’s pouch belt and embroidered Pouch. The gold-laced belt with gilt buckle, tip and slide, the tip featuring a bursting grenade (lace clean, fittings rubbed). The pouch discreetly converted for use as a purse (suspension-loops absent), but retains its original blue cloth flap edged with gold lace and bearing Royal Arms in gold and coloured embroidery, between oak leaf sprays, gilt metal Gun and mottoes in gold embroidery on crimson velvet. Embroidery GC and bright.

2nd Bn Connaught Rangers Commanding Officer’s Presentation Photograph Album For the “Standown” of the Regiment. An regimentally important photograph presented to Lieutenant Colonel H.F.N. Jourdain CMG the last Commanding Officer of the Regiment. The album contains photographs of the parade to present the regimental Colours to King George V at Windsor, also includes images of the regiment post WW1 in France, parades and Memorial unveiling. Images are clear. The leather cover of the album to the front gilt tooled “H.F.N.J. JUNE 12TH 19221”. To the fly sheets a presentation text giving details of the presentation of this album. Small split to leather of the spine.
Royal Navy Lieutenant’s cased cocked hat set. A fine black beaver skin example, to the left side a black silk rosette with a single twist loop mounted with a gilt post 1902 gilt button to the centre. The cocked hat is edged with one inch black lace; at each end, bullion tassels with blue lines. The interior is with leather sweatband and silk pleated lining. Tailor’s label. ... Accompanied by full dress bullion epaulettes with silver bullion foul anchor indicating the rank of Lieutenant. ... Sword belt complete with gilt regulation pattern waist clasp and sword slings. Contained in the original metal and velvet lined storage tin. GC, Bullion fresh and bright. Hat lining silk with small amount of age wear and two small holes to the exterior.

To the front, a white metal post 1901 shako badge and cord boss mounted with white metal thistle device. Plaited black mohair cord festoon across the front terminating in black egg moulds. Black patent leather peak and chin strap. The interior with leather sweatband and original Hobson and Sons oval paper label. Lining stamped ‘4 years’ and 1901. Minor service wear, leather a little dry. GC
16th Queen’s Lancers Other Rank’s lance cap. A good post 1901 example. Patent leather body, peak and crown with ornate gilt metal fleur bosses to each corner. Regimental plate to front with battle honours up to South Africa 1900-1902. Lion’s head bosses support brass and leather-backed chin chain. Woollen cord boss with regimental button to centre supports a black horsehair plume mounted in gilt metal plume holder. Leather lining with issue date 190? to the interior. Good clean condition GC.
1st King’s Dragoon Guards Officer’s Scarlet Uniform A rare post 1901 example. Scarlet melton cloth with deep blue velvet facings to the cuff and collar. The cuffs are with gold bullion Austrian knot decoration. The collar is with gold lace edging and bullion regimental devices. The plaited shoulder cords are with rank stars denoting Captain. Complete with gilt metal mounted regimental buttons. The lining is of padded silk which is now with age wear part shot. Bullion remains bright, scarlet slightly dulled. .... Accompanied by breeches with central yellow line.

A fine Universal Pattern Frock Coat of the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment, with gilt post 1901 Royal Crest buttons, embroidered collar-badges and Lieutenant’s embroidered badges of rank. Quilted silk lining with Mayfair tailor’s label to Norman Snelgrove, 18.7.07?. Very minor moth damage not affecting the appearance, otherwise VGC ... and a blue serge “Frock B” of the Northumberland Fusiliers by Wm. Anderson & Sons, Edinburgh, with regimental brass buttons, the tailor’s label named to A.W.Davidson and dated Feb.1919. Never fitted with collar badges. One moth hole, metal rank-badges and shoulder-titles absent. Near VGC. (2 items)J.S.N. Snelgrove was commissioned into his regt. (3rd VB) in 1907 and served in France with 7th Bn. and left the T.A. in 1938. A.W.Davidson was severely wounded at the Somme and was awarded an M.C. He moved on to the RAMC, reaching the rank of acting Lieut.-Col. and thereafter had a career as a civilian Doctor and Surgeon. The short-lived optional “Frock B” 1913-28 was for wear with collar and tie.
