* Wolmark (Alfred Aaron, 1877-1961). Self Portrait, 1949, oil on canvas, signed and dated, approx. 500 x 400mm (19.5 x 15.75ins), marked P. 93 to verso, modern gilt and stained wood framed Alfred Wolmark is recognised as one of the leading British post-impressionist painters of the first half of the twentieth century, and is known as one of the Whitechapel Boys, an influential group of modernist Jewish artists, which included Bernard Meninsky, Mark Gertler, Jacob Kramer and William Roberts. He is best known for his vibrant landscapes and still lifes. He also produced a range of posters, ballet designs, and portraits of literary figures. A major retrospective of his work was held at the Ben Uri Gallery in the Autumn of 2004, entitled Redisovering Wolmark: A Pioneer of British Modernism. (1)

bJORN SIGURD OSTERN - a 1960's biomorphic pendant, with stamped maker's mark for David-Anderson, also stamped NORWAY, STERLING, 925, S, of slender amorphous design with integral suspension loop; suspended from an oval belcher link chain by Georg Jensen, with post 1945 maker's mark, also stamped 925, S, with modern British import marks and Danish control marks lengths: pendant 10.5cm; chain 70cm, 31g total bjorn Sigurd Ostern worked at David-Anderson Company on a regular basis between 1961 and 1973. He produced vigorous designs, usually in silver, and often set with cabochon cut stones or monochrome enamel.
hENNING KOPPEL - a silver bracelet designed in 1947, maker Georg Jensen (post 1945 mark), also stamped 925, S, DENMARK, numbered 89, composed of pierced amorphous links, with T-bar fastening length 20.5cm, 123g this bracelet's pierced amorphous links have been memorably described as "dinosaur bones...[growing] organically from one another, like vertebrae...[creating] a continuous whole..." The design is remarkably innovative when compared with more traditional chains which are often composed of links connected by separate rings or hinges. henning Koppel's designs for Georg Jensen were a radical departure from their previous fruit and floral motifs. Koppel drew inspiration from the antigeometric vocabulary of Biomorphism and this may in part be due to the fact that he originally trained as a sculptor.
nANA & JORGEN DITZEL - a silver bangle designed in 1956, with import marks for London 1965, maker Georg Jensen (post 1945 mark), also stamped STERLING, DENMARK, NJ within D and numbered 111, of hollow plain pointed oval form width 10cm nana and Jorgen Ditzel began working and exhibiting together in 1944. Nana originally trained in cabinet making meanwhile Jorgen trained as an upholsterer. The began to create designs for Georg Jensen in 1954 and shared an aesthetic based on creating comfortable, wearable and simple items.
aNNA GRETA EKER - a 1960's silver torque form ring, maker Plus, stamped N, AGE, +, STERLING, NORWAY, designed as a broad band with shaped triangular terminals; a silver ring by Peter Guy Watson, with marks for London 1971, maker's mark PGW, collet set with a high domed circular cut amethyst cabochon flanked by trifurcated shoulders; together with a Kim Naver shaped-square silver ring, maker Georg Jensen (post 1945 mark), also stamped 925, S, DENMARK and numbered 186 (3) finger sizes: K (UK), 5.5 (USA) - slightly adjustable; M (UK), 6.l5 (USA) and H (UK), 4 (USA) anna Greta Eker married Erling Christoffersen, leader of the silver workshop at the applied arts centre PLUS in Norway. Founded in 1958 this centre was intended as an arena for designers to create good models for industry. Eker's designs are often sculptural and occasionally mobile.

Stanley Royle R.B.A., A.R.W.A. (1888-1961), "The Shepherdess", signed and dated 1922, watercolour over pencil, 37 x 52cm.; 14.5 x 20.5in. * Stanley Royle was born in Stalybridge, Lancashire. He studied at the Sheffield Technical School of Art, where George Clausen had a profound influence on his early art. In 1912, Royle exhibited at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool, before his work was accepted at the Royal Academy. He showed a total of 39 paintings there during his career. He became an Associate Member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1919, and in 1921 he became a full member. He emigrated to Canada in the 1930's where he took up a teaching post at the Nova Scotia College of Art in Halifax, before being dismissed by the principle Elizabeth Styring Nutt, who was also originally from Sheffield. She felt that his work was becoming so admired and prized that he may have become a threat to her position at the college. Principal exhibited works include "Corfe Castle, Dorset" and "Winter Evening".

Wal Plus Ultra, over 150 of these aircraft were built in Italy post W.W.I. in order to circumnavigate the Peace Treaty restrictions. -1
