Ephemera: 1864 pamphlet produced by D G BERRI of 36 High Holborn, London who were engravers and printers and among other works produced date stamping devices for the post office, the publication shows samples of their work, the original binding absent but otherwise fine, also an 1863 advertising leaflet for "The People's Printing Press" which was produced by the same company

Creighton, and engraved by J. Dower, each dissected and mounted on linen, all with hand-colouring, each approx. 1060 x 880mm., occasional surface dirt and spotting, folding into original red straight-grain morocco, gilt decorated borders, 8vo, edges rubbed, spines faded, S. Lewis & Co., 1840, (4).

A fine exhibition quality 5 inch gauge model of a 4-4-0 Great Western Railway Armstrong No 7 tender locomotive, based on the original design by William Dean. The copper boiler having fittings including steam regulator, water sight-glass, lever operated fire-doors, screw reverse and drains with associated copper pipework. No pressure gauge fitted. Simulated plank flooring to cab. The chassis with twin inside cylinders and Stephenson s reverse, fluted connecting rods and fitted leaf springs. The six wheel tender with fitted tool boxes, steps, hand-irons and guide rails. The model finished in traditional Great Western Railway green livery with fitted steps, hand irons, lamp irons and vacuum hoses with name plate Armstrong and crests to splasher. The model comes complete with display track and glazed display case on plinth. Locomotive and tender Length 158cm. Cab width 22cm. Height 38cm. Display case: Length 206cm. Depth 40cm. Height 75cm. -197 * This locomotive has never been steamed and appears to have been on display from the time it was built. * William Dean designer of the original full size locomotive was born on the 8th of January 1840 and died the 4th of September 1905 he was the second son of Henry Dean, manager of the Hawes soap factory in New Cross, London William was educated at the Haberdashers Company School. He became the Chief Locomotive Engineer for the Great Western Railway from 1877, when he succeeded Joseph Armstrong. He retired from the post in 1902 and was replaced by George Jackson Churchward. He designed famous steam locomotive classes such as the Duke Class, the Bulldog class and the long-lived 2301 Class.
