-- Drei Meisterwerke der Netsuke-Kunst-- Netsuke. - 3 japanische Schnitzkunst-Figürchen. Aus geglättetem, poliertem Kirschholz, jeweils ca. 3 x 1,6 x 1,8 cm. Japan um 1870.Drei entzückend feine Arbeiten der meisterhaften japanischen Miniaturschnitzkunst Netsuke. Ursprünglich bezeichnete der Begriff die Wurzelholzschnitzerei, bzw. ein geschnitztes Objekt in Form einer Plakette, einer kleinen Figur oder ähnlichem, die als Halteklammer für den Kimono diente oder als Gegengewicht der kleinen, am Kimonogürtel, hängenden kleinen Lackholzdose angebracht wurde. An dem "Obi" genannten Gürtel hing der "Inrô", eine Dose, die Utensilien wie Siegel oder auch medizinische Kräuter, Münzen und ähnliches enthielt. Die Netsuke wurden aus verschiedenen Holzarten, aus Wurzelholz, Bambus, Buchsbaum und anderem, sowie aus Elfenbein, Walrosszähnen, Hirschhorn, aber auch aus Keramik, Porzellan, Steingut oder seltenen Steinen, wie etwa Onyx hergestellt. Auch Korallen, Bernstein und Halbedelsteine wurden in Handarbeit geschnitzt und meist prachtvoll mit Darstellungen aus der Mythologie, aus der Tier- und Pflanzenwelt sowie mit Alltagsszenen geschmückt. Hier haben wir drei exquisite Beispiele des "klassischen" Netsuke, geschnitzt aus Hartholz, wohl vom Kirschbaum: 1) Schildkröte. Mit Ober- und Unterpanzer, vier herausragenden Füßchen, neugierigem Köpfchen und Fadenloch unter dem Schwänzchen. Auf dem Rücken der Schildkröte hat ein kleiner Laubfrosch Platz genommen. 2) Meeresschnecke vom Typus Columbella rustica, auf der Rückseite mit zwei tanzenden Figuren wohl aus dem No-Theater, in überaus detaillierter Miniaturschnitzung. Der Faden konnte durch den Hohlraum zur Muschelspitze eingezogen werden. 3) Mandorla-Netsuke. Knopf in Mandelform mit kleinem Steg, in dem das Loch für den Faden eingebohrt wurde. Auf der konvexen Mandeloberfläche sieht man einen von zwei Reitertn gezogenen Wagen mit einem alten Mann im sänftenartigen Korb als Passagier. Die beiden Führer hoch zu Ross halten die Zügel in den Händen, während der Wagen über holprigen Grund fährt, auf dem vier kleine Tiere herumwuseln, wohl Katzen oder Hunde. Über der Szenerie schnäbeln zwei Vögel (minimale Bruchrille). - Außergwöhnlich feine Miniaturarbeit mit nur ganz wenigen Bereibungen, wohl auch kaum Abbruch, da das Holz extrem stark und fest ist.
