A Japanese Sagemono, Meiji period, leather with silk overlay depicting a dragon amidst clouds, centralised silver dragon appliqué to front, twin compartment interior with wave engraved catch plate, with belcher chain attached Kagamibuta silver and ivory netsuke, manju form with inset dragon disc, the purse 5¼in. (13.4cm.) wide. * Condition: Good condition overall. Small worns patches to silk to corners of purse, and some minor wear to edges. Some fading to pale purple silk to front. Silver plating to rivet heads worn. Some wear to interior edges. Silver and netsuke in good condition.
A finely carved Japanese ivory netsuke, Meiji period (1868-1912), depicting a street vendor selling wares from a basket clasped between his crossed legs, his left arm raised with hand gripping a short staff with attached purse, single character mark to base, 1¼in. (3.2cm.) high. * Condition: Good condition with no damage.
A Japanese carved ivory netsuke, Meiji period (1868-1912), with three leverets playing amongst toadstools, on naturalistically carved base, the leverets with glass eyes, two character signature to stem of one of the toadstools, 2½ x 2in. (6.4 x 5.1cm.). * Condition: Scratch to top of two toadstools and another to one leveret's ear. No other damage. Good condition overall.
A pair of Japanese miniature cloisonné bottle vases, flared long neck with moth and floral decoration, with hardwood linked stands, together with a carved ivory angel fish netsuke, a/f. (3) * Condition: Two bad impact marks and loss of 5mm enamel patch to first vase, 3mm impact to second vase. 12mm piece of ivory missing to dorsal fin of fish.
A Japanese lacquered inro, 19th century, gilt lacquer with finely decorated forested landscape scene, four compartments with nashiji finish interiors, acorn form ojime with counter form bi-sectional shibayama ivory netsuke held on original plaited cord, 2¾ x 2in. (7 x 5.1cm.). * Condition: Inro has some wear to finish throughout. No damage to compartments. Netsuke lacks approx. 50% of shibayama inlay.
A lacquered wood Japanese inro, late 19th century, four compartment, black lacquer with gilt decoration of trees and birds, character marks to lid interior, 3in. (7.6cm.) high, with attached carved ivory netsuke modelled as a recumbent cow or water buffalo, 1½in. (3.8cm.) long. * Condition: Inro in poor condition, with edge chipping throughout, new string to attach netsuke and wear to decoration. Netsuke in good condition with no damage.
A Japanese carved cinnabar lacquer inro, late 19th century, rectangular form, four compartments with nashiji interiors, relief carved gowned male figures beneath pine trees and willows, peony bloom to base and cover, completed with brass bud form ojime and a polychrome boxwood netsuke of a kneeling gentleman with fan, on original purple cord, 3 x 2¼in. (7.6 x 5.7cm.); together with a circular cinnabar lacquer covered pot with relief fruit and foliate carving, 3in. (7.6cm.) diameter, poor condition. (2) * Condition: Inro: Good condition, with no faults.Netsuke: Wear to painted decoration. Otherwise good.Pot: Poor condition, with extensive chips and losses to lacquer.
