A Japanese carved ivory netsuke, of a seated oni holding a large face mask and a bowl in his lap, 2.3cm. (Taisho period 1912-1926) Provenance: Part of a Leicester private family collection by descent and historically known to our auctioneer. The collector, who died pre-WWII, actively accumulated works of art in the 1920s/30s. All enquires to Colin Young.

An early 19th Century six case inro finely decorated with torrents and waterfall to a mountainous forest landscape in gold hiramakie and takamakie on a nashiji ground, length 9cm, with a red and black marbled bead cut with flowers and inlaid with mother of pearl studs the wooden netsuke modelled as a three story teahouse circa 1800, height 4cm. An early 19th Century three case inro of rectangular section, the rosewood body decorated in various gold lacquers with a crowded landscape of Mount Fuji, rivers and buildings, length 9.4cm, silver pierced ojime of a dragon amongst clouds and a polished rosewood manju netsuke detailed with figures crossing a bridge spanning a wide river leading to a park in gold lacquer, diameter 4.5cm, signed Ittosai sho sai byo, S/D. A late 18th Century four case roiro inro decorated in gold takamakie with cranes drifting through clouds touched in red details signed Kajikawa and seal, possibly sake, length 10cm, with a nut ojime carved with the Seven Poets of the Bamboo Grove and a kagamibuta netsuke with ivory cup and metal disc with a leaping carp, diameter 3.8cm, S/D.
