AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY SIGNED JAPANESE IVORY & HARDWOOD NETSUKE OF A SEATED SENNIN, of larger than average size, together with a scroll-end wood stand, the seated priest with a fan and head ornament in onlaid ivory, the base of the figure with an engraved signature on an inlaid rectangular ivory reserve, 4in high overall, the figure itself 2.75in wide & 2.8in high.

A Japanese carved horn netsuke, Meiji period (1868-1912), modelled as cicada, 2½in. (6.4cm.) long; together with an ivory netsuke, 19th century, of a kneeling figure working a cylinder press, character signature to underside, 1¼in. (3.3cm.) high. (2)* Condition: - Cicada: One eye missing. Otherwise in good condition with no other damage. - Ivory: Four smalls chip to hem at back of robe. No other damage.
A Japanese carved ivory netsuke of an actor, Meiji period (1868-1912), finely carved in matted, engraved robes with black stained mons and white stained hair, holding a fan, signed with two character mark to base, 2 1/8in. (5.4cm.) high.* Condition: Very good condition, with no damage. Minor rubs to stained colour on shoulders.
A Japanese carved ivory netsuke, Meiji period (1868-1912), depicting turtles climbing upon and inside a pierced rock, 2½in. (4.2cm.) long; together with an 18th / 19th century carved ivory netsuke of a bearded male figure on a horse, possibly Toba, 2 5/8in. (6.7cm.) long; and a 19th century carved ivory toggle of a rat on a rolled mat, 1½in. (3.8cm.) long. (3)* Condition: - Turtles: Small chip to one foot at back of carving. Otherwise good. - Figure on horse: Good colour. Small smudges of dark paint to one side. Old, dark hairline down length of one side. No chips or other damage. - Rat: Harline (old) along 2/3 of cylinder. Small piece partially detached from cylinder rim at one end.
