A Victorian Ruby and Emerald Locket, the oval locket with rope twist decoration and rubies and emeralds inset in rows to one side, measures 2.8cm by 4.6cm, on A Guard Chain, of doubled belcher links, length (doubled over) 63.5cm This is in fair condition. The locket is missing one ruby. The chain has a swivel catch. It has had some repairs and has replacement loops in three places. Neither item bears a hallmark, nor stamp. Gross weight 43.0 grams. The claws look a little worn, and may require attention. The shank is thinner to the base - possibly due to re-sizing. The emerald measures 8.01mm x 7.73mm x 4.41mm. The diamonds measure; 7.39mm x 6.28mm x 4.52mm = 1.46 carat approximately and 7.07mm x 6.02mm x 4.31mm = 1.28 carat approximately. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour K/L/M, clarity SI2/I1/I2. Gross weight 4.4 grams. CR made 31st July 2014

One of the side emeralds has a fracture. Other than that the condition is reasonably good, with expected wear, and scuffs to the emeralds. It bears no hallmark, nor stamps, but in our opinion it would test as gold. The diamonds measure; 5.92mm x 5.78mm x 3.74mm (0.89ct) and 5.92mm x 5.97mm x 3.18mm (0.78ct). A multi-gem cluster pendant. Designed as a panel of vari-shape garnet, with circular-shape emerald detail and freshwater pearl accents. Length 5.3cms. Weight 9.9gms. Overall condition good. Surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general wear. The garnet have a fairly pale to mid purplish-red colour, with typical dark inclusions, some are surface reaching. The emeralds have a whitish cloudy green colour with profuse light and dark inclusions, many of which are surface reaching. The pearls have a white body colour with muted lustre. The diamonds appear bright and well matched with small scattered inclusions and slight variance in colour. Diamonds graded within the limitations of the mount, grades may differ.
