PLATINUM & 18 CARAT GOLD FRENCH DIAMOND & EMERALD BRACELET DATING TO CIRCA 1920-1930'S. THERE ARE 14 COLOMBIAN EMERALDS, OVAL, CUSHION & ROUND CABOCHON WITH A TOTAL OF 23.5 CARATS. THE DIAMONDS ARE OLD EUROPEAN CUT AND TOTAL 8.89 CARATS, COLOURS G-H & CLARITY VS-SI-SI1. THE RING HAS A HIGH DOMED CUSHION CABOCHON COLOMBIAN EMERALD CIRCA 14.21 CARATS, SET WITH 1.04 CARAT OF DIAMONDS IN A TRAPEZOID & BAGUETTE CUTS. THE TRAPEZOIDS ARE J-K COLOUR AND THE BAGUETTES ARE G-H. CLARITY IS SI. THE VENDORS GRANDMOTHER, ESTHER MCCREERY WAS A VERY WELL TO DO SOCIALITE IN THE EARLY PART OF 20TH CENTURY LIVING IN HILLSBORO, CALIFORNIA. HOWEVER, DURING WORLD WAR 2, SHE BECAME A LIASON WITH/FOR THE AMERICAN EMBASSY IN THE BAHAMAS. IT WAS IN THE BAHAMAS THAT SHE BECAME VERY FRIENDLY WITH WALLIS SIMPSON AND EDWARD VIII AND THEY WERE KNOWN REGULARLY TO BE DRINKING TOGETHER. THE CURRENT VENDORS MOTHER STATED THAT HIS GRANDMOTHER PURCHASED THE BRACELET AND RING FROM WALLIS SIMPSON WHICH WAS GIVEN TO HER BY EDWARD VIII. AFTER THE WAR WHEN ESTHER MCCREERY RETURNED TO CALIFORNIA, A GENTLEMAN FROM ENGLAND HAD CONTACTED HER TO SEE IF HE COULD PURCHASE THE ITEMS SO THEY COULD BE BACK WHERE THEY BELONG, BUT ESTHER REFUSED.
