Royal Navy HMS Amethyst Officer’s Naval General Service Medal, clasp “Amethyst 5 April 1809”Awarded to “JAS. J. LAMB”This is a unique issue, please note the medal is “Jas J”, the roll “ James T” This medal was awarded to James Thomas Lamb Volunteer 1st Class later Lieutenant who is confirmed as serving onboard HMS Amethyst at the time of the action against the French Frigate Le Niemen 40 Guns. On the 5th April 1809 the Amethyst a 36-gun Penelope-class fifth-rate frigate was cruising with her consort HMS Emerald, when the “Le Niemen” was spotted on route to Verdon, both British ships gave chase and Amethyst lost contact with her chase and consort. The French were spotted at 9.40pm and followed a night action, resulting in the capture of the Le Niemen the following day. Lieutenant Lamb entered the Royal Navy as a Volunteer 1st Class under Captain Seymour in 1808, after the action of the 5th April he remained with Captain Seymour on the Channel and Irish stations until he followed his Captain to HMS Hannibal 74 now as a Midshipman in 1812. He was confirmed a Lieutenant 1st March 1815. He remained with the Royal Navy and later the Coast Guard which he served from 1833 to 1836. A note in his biography indicates that when in command of a Merchant Ship he was awarded recognition from Lloyds.This medal was sold by Christie's 1988.

A Stunning 18ct White Gold Diamond And Emerald Set Cocktail Bracelet Of Pleasing Proportions Circa 1930's/1940's, comprising stylised art deco pierced panels, diamond set ovoid links and diamond set cylindrical stations; the whole set with tapered baguettes and round brilliant cut diamonds; the centre set with a large natural faceted emerald with six smaller emeralds to adjoining panels. The whole making a very pleasing diamond and emerald cocktail bracelet. The diamonds of good colour and sparkle, estimated diamond weight, 10.84 cts, the central faceted emerald of excellent colour, estimated weight 5.00 cts, the further six marquise and oval cut emeralds, also of an excellent colour, estimated 2.00 cts. The bracelet has a total weight of 118.4 grams - nearly 4 ozs, fully hallmarked for 18ct gold. A stunning diamond and emerald cocktail bracelet at low estimate, please see accompanying image.
