1968 Aston Martin DBSRegistration no. SJD 8FChassis no. 400/5040/ROdometer Reading: 78,000MoT Expiry: Exempt *First-rate history*Good colour combination*Excellent mechanically – manual gearbox The William towns-penned DBS brought the Aston Martin model range bang up to date at its launch and the crisp lines stood it in good stead for many years, albeit with modifications as the years passed. This early, DBS has is reported as having generally good bodywork, paint and trim, and it's Olive Green metallic paint suits the shape well. The Fawn Connolly leather seating and remainder of the interior is tidy throughout. AM/6035/RAOdometer Reading: 67,886MoT Expiry: TBA *Long-term ownership*Fine colour combination*Manual gearboxOne of Aston Martin's rarer post-war models, only 70 of these six-cylinder Vantages were produced between May 1972 and July 1973. In one family's ownership since the 1980s, our marque restoration specialist vendor says this Vantage is in un-restored condition, bar a bare-metal re-paint in Ascot Grey, which is reported as being undertaken in 1999. The bodywork, trim and paint are said to be very good. The vendor says carpets, dashboard and door cards (blue) are very good, the matching blue seats, headlining and trim are good. He also says the engine ranks as very good when it comes to starting and running, mechanical components and engine bay presentation as good. Running gear (gearbox, clutch, suspension and brakes) and the electrical system are also regarded as good.An early example of the AM Vantage in a very appealing colour combination, coming from long-term ownership. 1999 Aston Martin DB7 V12 VantageRegistration no. V59 SBWChassis no. SCFAB1232YK300359Odometer Reading: 60,804MOT Expiry: 04/12/2020*Well maintained*Long MoT test*Great way into Aston Martin ownership*Six-speed manual gearbox The DB7's looks are as pleasing today as when it was launched and its graceful appearance hasn't aged as many of its rivals have. MPH is pleased to offer this 1999 example which presents well inside and out and has a comprehensive service history back to its earliest days. Bodily it presents well with very good panels and paint, the latter maintained by specialist who looks after Jaguar's show cars. The interior is good and has mellowed: our vendor says there is cracking over the veneers: cream and red leather seats, dashboard and door cards are in good order and journeys can be whiled away to sounds from the premium audio system but if that doesn't suffice the sports exhaust provides an equally enthralling sound. With an MoT until early December this DB7 appears good value, either as a first entry into Aston Martin ownership or to add to a collection. The manual gearbox makes this a true enthusiast's DB7 and it has a comprehensive service history.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 84/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. A good looking, two-door saloon attractively finished in medium grey over light grey Appears to be an original right-hand drive car. MPH speedo (91,860) MOTs up to 2008 Very smart, nicely appointed interior in red, presumably retrimmed. Cream painted and Bakelite dashboard in good order. Original Borgward Radio Fitted with the more powerful TS engine (1493cc, Twin Solex, 75bhp) Damaged steering rack-would straighten. Currently a non-runner NB. On offer from a private collection, this vehicle has not been used for some time. It is a non-runner and is strictly sold as seen. Borgward's new Isabella range was released in 1954 as a replacement for the Hansa, employing monocoque construction and sold in a number of different guises, including a two-door saloon, coupe, cabriolet and estate (Combi). With elegant Trans-Atlantic styling and plenty of chrome, the Isabella was a handsome alternative to Opel and Ford, neatly bridging the gap to more expensive offerings from Mercedes-Benz. Under the bonnet, Borgward's compact four-cylinder engine was mated to a four-speed, all-synchromesh gearbox via a hydraulic clutch, using a column-change lever typical for cars of the period. The standard engine's output was 60 horsepower but a more powerful 75 horsepower unit (known as the TS and using two Solex twin-choke carburettors) was used in the cabriolet and later found its way into the saloon. With independent suspension using a swing axle at the rear, the Isabella handled well and proved a willing performer, with excellent road manners. The Isabella's bespoke cabin was nicely appointed, with plenty of space for four adults to travel in comfort, the padded dashboard and large steering wheel both typically Germanic features. The Isabella remained in production until 1962, but Borgward was sadly in receivership and no replacement was forthcoming. In total some 202,862 Isabellas of all types were made over an eight-year period, making it commercially successful although few survivors remain on the road today. With a strong following around the world and plenty of support from the owner's club in the UK, the Isabella is an interesting alternative to other makes of the era. Classic period dashboard. Grundig push-button radio Fitted with a Weber downdraught twin-choke carb and adapter plate Currently a non-runner. May not take much. German engineer/designer Carl Borgward progressed from general engineering to the manufacture of three-wheeled trucks under the Blitzkarren and Goliath names in the mid-1920s. Hansa-Lloyd was taken over by the Borgward group in 1931, but it was not until 1939 that the Borgward name first appeared on a motor car. The company resumed production after WW2 with the Lloyd LP300, a small saloon built initially with timber/fabric bodywork, and then in 1952 Borgward introduced the Hansa 1800. Germany's first all-new design of the post-war era, the Hansa boasted a backbone chassis, independent suspension all round and an all-synchromesh gearbox. The best-selling Isabella arrived in 1954. Badged as the 'Hansa 1500' until 1957, the Isabella (its factory code name) boasting a modern, unitary construction body/chassis and eye-catching American-influenced styling. It was just what the German public had been waiting for and went on to become the most successful Borgward ever. More powerful (75bhp) Cabriolet and Coupé versions joined the range and were excellent performers, with a 95mph maximum speed and exemplary road manners. Production ceased, in the wake of Borgward's controversial bankruptcy, in 1962. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Simon Langsdale. Powered by a four-cylinder 1,133cc OHV engine coupled to a three-speed synchromesh gearbox Between 1947 and 1949, the manufacturer produced 3,015 timber bodied conversions Running and driving up until seven years ago. Now a non-runner Around 88,000km and it's accompanied by its French Carte Grise Could be in demand in the film/TV industry NB. On offer from a private collection, this vehicle has not been used for some time. It is a non-runner and is strictly 'Sold as Seen'. Formerly producers of tools, coffee mills, umbrella spikes and corsetry, Peugeot commenced its long-standing connection with transport in 1885 when it added cycle manufacture to its portfolio. The second oldest motor manufacturer in the world, the company commenced car production in 1889 with a steam-powered tri-car but soon abandoned steam in favour of the internal combustion engine, building a succession of ever-larger automobiles before introducing the first of its famous Bébé light cars in 1900. New for 1939, the Peugeot 202 was powered by a four-cylinder 1,133cc overhead-valve engine coupled to a three-speed synchromesh gearbox with worm drive rear axle. The suspension was independent at the front and the 202 followed the lines of the larger 402, its streamlined styling reflecting the late-1930s preoccupation with passenger-car aerodynamics. Between 1947 and 1949, the manufacturer produced 3,015 timber bodied "Hatch" (hatchback) conversions: this model cost 55% more than the Berline (saloon) and anticipated future Peugeot policy by using a slightly longer chassis than that used on other 202 versions. The extensive use of timber took the company back to a technology that it had abandoned in 1931 when production of the Type 190 ended, and according to the manufacturer was above all a response to the shortage of sheet steel in post-war France.A very rare survivor of an already rare model, the Peugeot 202 offered here is an example of the Canadienne 'woodie' estate car variant. Attractively finished in maroon with trademark wooden doors and a beige cloth interior it was running and driving up until a few years ago. Currently, a non-runner but looks to have potential and would be regularly employed in the film/ television industry. We understand it has covered around 88,000km and it's accompanied by its French Carte Grise. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Simon Langsdale. Left-hand drive, manual gearbox, French home-market car Not UK-registered. 78,504km indicated. With its French CD'i 602cc air-cooled twin and 4-speed box Finished in very flat Dove Grey paintwork. May polish up a bit Interior very tired. Non-runner NB. On offer from a private collection, this vehicle has not been used for some time. It is a non-runner and is strictly sold as seen. Manufactured by Citroën between 1961 and 1978, the Ami 6 was a supermini and for several years was the best-selling car in the French home market. When the company eventually decided to replace it, a total of 1,840,396 units had been sold globally. It was often called the Citroën 3CV (Three Horses), as the engine size of 602cc was a little bit larger than the upper limit of the 2CV taxation class, and was offered as either a four-door saloon, four-door estate, or a two-door van. The early models were thrust forward by a 602cc air-cooled twin, not generating too much 'G-force' which was probably just as well given that the front seats easily unclipped and could be used as picnic chairs. The Ami 6, along with the Ford Taurus, were the first vehicles fitted with rectangular headlights, an innovative design that went against the view that all headlights had to be circular. Despite having dramatic modern styling, the initial sales were as slow as the car (0-50mph in just over half a minute) as it was judged to be too expensive, however, things quickly picked up and it was ultimately much loved. This gorgeous convertible has clearly been well restored at some point UK, right-hand drive, manual column change, 29,965 miles indicated Finished in Seafoam Green with US-influenced styling cues including five chrome strips running down the bonnet, a built-in centre spot lamp, a "Flying A" mascot on each front wing and rear-wheel spats Nicely refurbished tan interior and green carpets. All very attractive Tidy engine bay. Has obviously been well-cared for although currently a non-runner Potentially an excellent show car. No history file or paperwork NB. On offer from a private collection, this vehicle has not been used for some time. It is a non-runner and is strictly sold as seen. Launched in 1949, the wonderful A90 Atlantic was by far the most flamboyant model in the otherwise staid Austin range. Looking like no car before or since, it ultimately proved a brave gamble that did not pay off. The retro-futuristic styling (art deco with a rocket age twist) was penned by Ricardo 'Dick' Burzi, Austin's chief stylist who had been poached from Lancia after being forced to flee Italy when he insulted Mussolini (not a good idea in the 1930s!). A riot of chrome, curves and quirkiness, the Atlantic was aimed squarely at the American market and was instantly identifiable by its Cyclops-style third headlamp. Available as a Sports Coupe or a Convertible, it featured almost unheard of luxuries such as powered windows and, in convertible form, a hydraulically operated hood. A range of innovative 'Jewelescent' metallic colours was also offered in shades such as 'Seafoam Green' and 'Desert Gold'. Powered by the same torquey 2.6-litre four-cylinder engine that later found fame in the Austin-Healey 100/4, it had a four-speed column-change gearbox and could cruise all day at 80mph with another 12mph on tap when needed. To prove its sporting credentials, a convertible A90 broke 63 'stock car' records at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in April 1949, pounding round the track non-stop for seven days and averaging over 70mph including halts for fuel. Sadly for the A90 though, its launch was totally overshadowed by the even more sensational Jaguar XK120 and fast though it was, its Steady-Freddy four-cylinder engine did not have the appeal of a US V8 or the Jaguar 6-cylinder. Despite Austin's best marketing efforts, only 350 were sold in America and just 7,981 were made in total before production ground to a halt in 1952. With only a handful still surviving, these glamorous machines rarely come to market and are increasingly sought after today. A tool-room copy D-Type Shortnose - a collaboration in 2005 between Jerry Booen (ex-Lotus design engineer/D-Type luminary and David Duffy) Two years in construction utilising, whenever possible, either original or correct period parts Fitted with a period-correct, 3.4-litre, dry-sump unit running triple 45DCO3 Webers and a genuine D-Type, 4-speed all synchro gearbox Aluminium hand-formed bodywork from specially made bucks. Steel frame monocoque/aluminium tub. Correct instrumentation and seating. Bolted-in Roll Hoop (for straightforward removal) Supplied with some old FIA papers, build details and its history file Offered at a fraction of what it would cost to replicate, especially considering the number of priceless and virtually unobtainable original parts used in the build The triple, Le Mans-winning Jaguar D-Type will need little introduction. Following on from the C-Type's victories in 1951 and 1953, the new D-Type, with its state-of-the-art chassis encompassing a central monocoque section, improved rear suspension and a more powerful XK engine, handsomely won the Vingt Quatre Heures du Mans in 1955, 1956 and 1957. Among the most desirable of collectors' cars worldwide, today even the 'customer' cars, let alone the works cars, will cost millions if you can even find one. Therefore, the opportunity to acquire a genuine sixties Jaguar two-seater that has been fully restored, re-engineered and re-clothed in effectively a 'tool-room' copy of D-Type by quality craftsmen, requires serious consideration. This particular, 'Short Nose' recreation, however, is no ordinary replica. In April 2005, two knowledgeable and highly skilled enthusiasts came together to build an exact copy of a Production D-Type. Jerry Booen is an ex-Lotus design engineer and in more recent times heads up the specialist team at 'D-Type Devs', whilst his colleague at the time was David Duffy, who had been a competitor for many years and during the period when this car was being built, owned and raced 'XKD 544'. Jerry had amassed a virtually complete set of drawings for the car and over time, had collected a range of incredibly rare parts using a useful contact in New Zealand. A document in the accompanying history file details the impressive specification of the build which we list here: Engine: 3.4-litres, triple Weber 45DCO3 Carburettors, dry sump Transmission: Genuine D-Type 4-speed, all-synchro box, live rear axle Bodywork: Aluminium panels hand-formed on specially made bucks Monocoque: Steel frame in an aluminium tub Suspension: Wishbone front, trailing arms rear at the rear with torsion bars Brakes: Plessey pump powered system with 6-pot/4-pot discs Roll Hoop: Bolted in to make removal straightforward Interior: 'Correct' instrumentation and seating Wheels: Original Dunlop alloys, 6.00/6.50 on 5-inch rims The result of all of this is a highly impressive, both technically and cosmetically, 'tool room copy' of the iconic D-type. Where possible, either original or period-correct parts were rebuilt and used, including the engine, gearbox, rear axle, wheels and carburettors. As this was between 2005-2007, Jerry and David did manage to find some original parts, a task getting more difficult with the passing years. Where period parts were not available, remanufactured D-Type spares including the front suspension were bought from historic racing specialists. In cases where parts needed to be made from scratch, original drawings were used as was the case for the chassis frame, brakes, monocoque and bodywork. After completion, FIA papers were granted and the identity of a 1962 Jaguar E-Type was used for the road registration (Chassis 860552). The accompanying history file includes details of all this as well as the old FIA papers. Naturally, it's finished in British Racing Green with the correct Apple Green interior, both seats are fitted with Willans full harnesses, and the car sits on original Dunlop alloys wearing a set of period Cinturatos. After the obligatory shakedown and road tests, the car was passed onto a well-known collector who owned it for the following 7-8 years. In more recent times this special car has formed part of a large collection and an approved roll cage (bolted-in to make removal straightforward) has been professionally fitted expanding the number of options available. Offered at a fraction of what it would cost to replicate, especially considering the number of priceless and virtually unobtainable original parts used in the build, this special homage to the iconic D-Type looks remarkable value. It would be welcome at prestigious events anywhere and can offer enjoyment and pride of ownership both on the road, or with some further investment, as a glorious race car to grace the circuits of Europe. Many original RS body panelsVery detailed invoices from Autohaus from December 2003 to February 2013The car was shipped to the UK during October 2013 and UK-registered as BAD 1KThe interior is predominantly original RS but was refreshed by Porsche Tonbridge in January 2015Superbly presented in Viper Green with the correct 1973 2.7 RS graphics and black interiorIt's very rare for a recreation of the legendary 2.7 RS to be based on a contemporary car that has significant value itselfAny inspection of this superbly prepared car and its paperwork would be welcomeNB. the cherished registration illustrated 27 RST does not form part of the saleThe 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 RS is considered by all knowledgeable Porsche enthusiasts to be the single best 911 of all time. This is high praise when you consider the large number of 911 models that have been built over the 50+ years since the model's introduction. The Carrera RS (Renn Sport) is still, to this day, the benchmark 911, the beautiful lines only being matched by the sheer delight of driving it, with its positive steering, exhilarating sound and linear performance. Built before the American "ugly bumper" era and the oil/fuel crisis, the RS had a purity of purpose that was not compromised by outside factors. For this reason, the Porsche RS Replica market has grown enormously and demand is far outstripping the supply of quality machines. The majority of RS recreations are based on later 911s, however, the immaculate evocation here is based on an original 1971, 'D'Series 2.2-litre 911E, a rare and valuable car in its own right.Dating from 1971, this Porsche 911E was originally left-hand drive and belonged to Crispin Dawes who lived in Balmoral Ridge in Queensland, Australia. It was raced locally during the 90s and was involved in a light rear-end accident in 1996. A few months later he decided that rather than repair the car he would convert it to right-hand drive and create the ultimate homage to the legendary 2.7 RS.This work was entrusted to Autohaus Hamilton of New South Wales, well-established Porsche specialists and they were to be involved with the car right through until 2013 when it was shipped to the UK. In total there are 30 pages of detailed invoices from Autohaus amounting to almost 95,000 Australian dollars and anyone considering the purchase of this lovely RS needs to spend some time examining these as, in addition to the 2.7-litre engine, 915 gearbox, body restoration and major parts, every nut, grommet and washer that went into this car's preparation is listed. The first invoice ($21,100) is dated 19-12-2003 and runs to 5 pages and includes the replacement 2.7-litre RS engine, 915 gearbox and clutch. Over the next 8 years, the work appears to be spaced out, but reading through, it's obvious that correctly replicating a '73 RS was the priority. The odometer readings increased between invoices so we assume the car was being used regularly. In June 2012 it was fully stripped again and was sent to the "panel shop" for an engine out, glass out respray in the correct shade of Viper Green. In October 2013, the Porsche was purchased by a well-known enthusiast in Norfolk to add to his collection and shipped in a container later that month. There is correspondence with HMRC in the file confirming the import and that all duties and taxes have been paid. The car was UK-registered in December 2013 as BAD 1K.Although very happy with his new Porsche, our collector eventually decided that the interior, the majority of which was original RS was not up to the standard of the rest of the car and asked the Porsche Centre Tonbridge to refresh the car's interior, retaining all the carefully sourced RS parts and sort out one or two little niggles and this was carried out in January 2015. (Invoice in the file). At the same time, a new fuel tank was fitted complete with fuel pump, sender, filter and hoses, the rear brake disc backplates were replaced, a new spare wheel and battery were fitted and all four road wheels were refurbished. The invoice totalled £6,254.77 and the odometer read 6,411km at that point. The little RS now presents superbly with a deep shine and excellent detailing. The interior looks "as if no one has ever sat in it" and the RS speedometer shows 8,017km. The whole car looks and drives every inch the '73 2.7RS and is worthy of close inspection. An original 1973 Carrera RS is out of reach for anyone but those with the deepest of pockets, but this car has so many of the dynamic properties of the 1973 icon, shares so many RS parts, is presented in excellent condition throughout, and is based on a 1971 911E a car that has significant value in its own right. The car is offered with an MOT valid until 22/04/2021, Swansea V5C, full details of its Australian restoration, UK import correspondence, and details of Porsche Tonbridge's fastidious attentions, meaning this incredible motor car is now ready for its next lucky owner to cherish and enjoy in equal measures.Stop Press. Exciting news. Today, May the 19th, we have been lucky enough to speak to the man who created this fabulous car and he has confirmed certain really positive aspects of the car's build of which we we were not aware when we wrote the original description. He explained that he had raced it for a period and following a bit of a rear-end tap he decided to convert it from left-hand drive to right-hand drive and create the ultimate homage to the legendary 2.7 RS. The work was carried out over 10 years initially and obviously all of the details are in the 30 pages of detailed invoices from Autohaus Hamilton in NSW as listed before. However, importantly, he assures us that the body panels, wings, dashboard, steering wheel and instruments are all original RS parts having being sourced over time, something we suspected but couldn't confirm, and most importantly the engine is an original 2.7-litre RS. Otherwise, the information in our original story hasn't changed and this additional information is confidence-inspiring and makes this remarkable Porsche seem even better value.Video of the Porsche 911 2.7 RS Re-creation Click here for more information This car was consigned by Nick Whale. Absolutely sparkling, 3-litre Targa from the first year of 'Super Carrera' productionFinished in Petrol Blue Metallic with a black leatherette/black and white 'pin-stripe ' velour interiorFive-speed manual box, ATS alloys, Leather Wheel, Centre Console and Electric WindowsComprehensive history from new with Autofarm, Francis Tuthill, and Porsche Centre BrooklandsCurrent mileage is 23,980. Major Porsche Service with fresh fluids on 27/01/2020 at 23,979 miles (one mile ago)Detailed Ownership History, every MOT, Porsche C of A, fully stamped Service Records in the original pouch, an original 1978 Sales Brochure, the current V5C and an MOT valid until 21/08/2020In simply remarkable condition, totally unmolested and one of the best original cars we have ever seenIn 1978, Porsche introduced their latest development of the 911, christened the '911 SC', with the SC standing for Super Carrera. Powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a five-speed, 915 transmission, power output initially was 180bhp, subsequently 188bhp and finally, in 1981, it was increased to a heady 204bhp. 1979 was the year that Porsche had envisioned that their new 928 would replace the 911 (we are still waiting for that to happen), however, 911 sales remained so strong that Porsche revised its strategy and decided to inject new life into their core model. According to its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this stunning Targa was built in September 1977 for the 1978 Model Year and was finished in Petrol Blue Metallic (only available '78-80) with a Black Leatherette interior enhanced by black and white 'pin-stripe ' velours. It 's fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox, the standard ATS alloys, which look particularly good on the Targa, and optioned from new with Impact Absorbers, Headlamp Washers, Leather Steering Wheel, Coloured Windows, a Centre Console and Electric Windows. Finding a 1970s Porsche with a comprehensive history is fairly rare and, apart from an intriguing nine years, this lovely original car has just that. Initially ordered from AFN Guildford by Peter Cresswell, senior partner in the law firm, Bradstock Plunkett, the Porsche was first registered as WLY 185S on 25/11/1977. It had covered just over 3,000 miles when it was sadly stolen from Chelsea whilst the Cresswell family were abroad on holiday. No trace was subsequently found and the insurance company naturally replaced it with a similar model. Some nine years later, shortly after this second car was replaced with his third new Porsche, Peter Cresswell received an unexpected phone call from Worthing Police telling him that 'his ' Porsche had been left blocking someone 's drive and when it was reported, it popped up as 'stolen '. It had covered less than 1,000 miles in the previous nine years and remained in very good condition. It still bore the original registration suggesting that it hadn 't been stolen to sell on to the Continent or to have its identity changed and we can only conclude that whoever stole it loved it so much that they simply had to have it. It was presumably kept in a lock-up and brought out on high-days and holidays to be driven around on its original plates. Brave. It's important to note that at no point have HPI ever listed the car as 'Stolen and Recovered' and pleasingly, the car does not seem to have been recorded anywhere in this connection. Anyway, in mid-March 1987, having negotiated a figure of £11,000 with Royal Insurance, WLY 185S formally became the property of Peter Cresswell, as it was to remain until 2005. The car was used lightly over the next few years and having covered only a few thousand miles required little in the way of maintenance apart from a new heat exchanger and full service in May 1997 at 8,589 miles, however, in May 1999 the car was sent to Autofarm at 9,076 miles for a general assessment. Several head studs were found to be broken and one thing lead to another resulting in Autofarm rebuilding the complete top end with replacements barrels and heads, new pistons and rings, and associated components. From the look of the invoices on file, Autofarm carried out further mechanical attention and the invoices (all on file) from the May-September period amount to around £7,500. The Porsche was based near Banbury so it was natural that Autofarm in Weston-on-the Green continued to look after and service it which they did until its sale to Mike Gabb on 20/10/2005 with a mileage of just over 11,000. Mike and Sally Gabb enjoyed the little Porsche for almost eight years covering a total of just over 11,000 miles, with service invoices from Auto 2000 and Francis Tuthill, before selling it to Neal Gordon on 21/08/2013. Neal applied the cherished registration '2 UPK ' to the Porsche, moved it to his slot in the underground NCP car park in Cadogan Gardens and covered a total of only 1,800 miles in the following three years with the longest single trip being a 145-mile journey to Norfolk. Towards the end of his ownership Neal treated the car to four new brake calipers with pads, four correct-spec BOGE shock absorbers, greased, adjusted, renewed parts of the clutch and throttle linkages, set the wheel alignment and filled the gearbox with 'very expensive oil'. This work was carried out by Porsche Brooklands on 16/08/2016 at a mileage of 23,754. In December 2016, at an indicated mileage of 23,973, the Porsche was purchased by Graham Dacre CBE and added to his Norfolk-based collection where it was to remain until recently purchased by our vendor. The current indicated mileage is 23,980 and there is an invoice on file from Porsche Cardiff detailing a Major Service with fresh fluids on 27/01/2020 at 23,979 miles (one mile ago). With the exception of the missing nine years when the Porsche was stolen, the service history is comprehensive, however, it only covered 1,000 miles whilst in hiding and, as it was returned unmolested our 't-leaf ' presumably loved the car, so the lack of history is not an issue. The owner 's file is impressive with a detailed Ownership History, every MOT back to 1989 individually sleeved, a summarised MOT History, older V5Cs, a significant number of detailed invoices/worksheets from Autofarm, Francis Tuthill, and Porsche Centres Brooklands and Cardiff, a Porsche C of A, fully stamped Service Records in the original pouch, an original 1978 Sales Brochure, the current V5C and an MOT valid until 21/08/2020. Patently well cared for throughout its life, even by the bloke who stole it, this Targa remains in remarkable condition. It presents really well in a delightful shade of Petrol Blue, the paintwork retains a deep shine, the shut lines are factory standard, the brushed stainless-steel roll hoop appears unmarked and the ATS alloys look sharp. Similarly, the interior looks virtually showroom fresh with very little signs of wear and the black and white pin-stripe seats are quintessentially eighties but 'eighties boardroom' as opposed to 'eighties night-club'. With a warranted mileage of less than 24,000, a comprehensive history and looking a 'million dollars', this 1978 3-litre SC Targa is worthy of a place in any collection of classic Porsches. Full book pack, service book and spare key New tyres, freshly serviced and the MOT is valid until early October 2020 Aston Martin introduced the long-awaited Vantage version of their successful DB7 in 1999. Sporting a Cosworth-designed, 5.9-litre V12 producing a creamy 420bhp, the car was super-quick and was electronically limited to 185mph. The V12 had a serious appetite for air compared to its 6-cylinder predecessor, demanding a larger intake and other modifications to the frontal airflow were made to aid cooling. Other changes included chassis and braking upgrades to cope with the increased performance, and Ian Callum enlarged the grille, added fog lamps, and restyled the valances to give the car a more purposeful look. This superb example is a V12 Vantage with the very desirable six-speed manual gearbox and was originally supplied by Stratstone of Wilmslow on 28/02/2003 in Tungsten Silver with Obsidian leather. It has been enjoyed by three previous owners and the service records indicate that it's been regularly serviced with 17 stamps in the book, the vast majority by AM, with the most recent by a marque specialist on 18-9-2019 at 47,780 miles. The current MOT is valid until 6-10-2020 and the car is accompanied by the original green leather owner's guide including the service records, the V5C, an MOT History supporting the current mileage of just over 48,000 and a spare key. Front-engined, V12 manual Grand Tourers have seen mounting investor interest over the last few years and this impressively presented DB7 Vantage with its ageless looks, sophisticated colour combination, manual gearbox, immaculate service history and sensible mileage, seems remarkable value for money. Purchased new by its first and only registered keeper on 07/03/1984 via Aston Martin Sales Ltd The owner, the Chairman of the National Bank of Dubai, kept the car at home in London Delivered in Salisbury Blue coachwork with Magnolia hide and automatic transmission Chiltern Aston Martin lightly recommissioned the car in 2016 at a cost of £16,670 Warranted mileage of just 10,550 supported by a comprehensive history file Original owners handbook/service records, AM Heritage Certificate, warranty card, maintenance and service invoices A rare opportunity to purchase an unmolested, low mileage AM V8 in one of the best colour combinations One could describe the Aston Martin V8 Series 4, often titled 'Oscar India' (October Introduction in phonetics), as the 'Mustang that went to Eton'. The exterior, particularly the front, may have had a touch of the Mustang about it but the interior was unmistakably Mayfair. The first Aston Martin in decades to combine sumptuous Connolly leather and polished Walnut facings, the interior of the Oscar India, launched in 1978, provided the driver with all of the comforts of the era and the grunt of the legendary Tadek Marek-designed V8. Compared to the contemporary exotica on offer from Italy, Aston's V8 would cruise unassumingly, with only the burble and the occasional pop from the twin exhausts on the overrun alluding to the turn of speed available under the discreetly bulging bonnet. Few cars genuinely suit an automatic gearbox but the standard Aston V8 is a car that perfectly mates the 5.3-litre V8 to the Chrysler-derived 3-speed Torqueflite automatic gearbox. Gears change with barely a quiver and the kick-down operates without fuss. Purchased new by its first owner and only registered keeper, the Chairman of the National Bank of Dubai, through Aston Martin Sales Ltd., it was delivered on the 06/03/1984 in Salisbury Blue with Magnolia hide, Beige (Onslow) carpeting and automatic transmission. It was maintained by the Aston Martin Works Service department at Newport Pagnell for many years with service invoices on file from 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993, by which time the mileage read just 8,696 miles. In keeping with the demands on the time of an international businessman with a substantial collection, the car was little used but correctly stored in a temperature-controlled garage at his residence in Bishops Avenue, one of London's best-known and desirable addresses. The car was latterly maintained by Aston Martin specialist Ian Mason until 2016 when Chiltern Aston Martin were instructed to lightly recommission the car at a cost of £16,670 for various works which included reconditioning the radiator, new coolant hoses, new inlet manifold, vacuum hoses, new front wheel bearings, re-bushed front suspension, rear brake servos, overhauled steering rack and a major service. With the first owner's recent passing, the Aston became available and is offered today as, effectively, a one-owner car, indeed the V5c still shows one registered keeper. The odometer indicates just over 10,550 miles and it's presented to auction with an excellent history file which contains the original owner's handbook, service book, warranty card, AM Heritage Certificate, invoices, tool kit and its current MOT. To conclude, this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most original, unmolested and well maintained Aston Martin V8s available. This car's superb condition, interesting provenance, comprehensive history and low mileage sets it apart and it's now ready to grace the finest of collections, or possibly do what V8 Astons do best and head for the open highway. A three-door SWB GR SE-spec superbly finished in Morello Red over Grey Metallic Fitted with the smooth and powerful, 2.8-litre, intercooled, I-6 turbo diesel One owner on Jersey until first registration in the UK during January 2020 Has never had a tow bar fitted or even been off-road. Used as a family car rather than a 4x4 Full book pack, four main dealer stamps, most recent by Nissan Swansea 10/02/2020 There are unlikely to be any other Patrols from this era in this condition anywhere It's hard to believe that in one form or another, the Nissan Patrol has been around for over forty years. It's come a long way. Whereas it used to be a touch agricultural, the Patrol has evolved into a 4x4 that's not short of creature comforts. Post-1997 Patrol models can be identified by their 'GR' trim designation and were exclusively diesel-engined with the SE-spec cars taking the model even further upmarket. This superb, fifth-generation (Y61) Patrol is a rare 3-door SE powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder producing 128bhp and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It's very attractively finished in Morello Red over Grey Metallic and sits on a set of unmarked silver alloys wearing an equally smart set of Maxxis Bravo AT 771 tyres. It was first registered on 29/10/1998 and remained in Jersey with its original owner until arriving in the UK in January 2020. During its time in Jersey, it was used lightly as a family car, never having a tow bar fitted and never having been off-road. Its owner was obviously proud of his Patrol and looked after it fastidiously as it remains in unbelievable original untouched condition, easily confused with a brand new car inside, out and underneath. The engine bay would be at home in a showroom and even the tyres have the branding picked out in white paint. We believe that it's highly unlikely that there are any other Patrols from this era in this condition anywhere. It's accompanied by its original book pack with the Owner's Manual, Service Schedules, Dealer List, Alarm Manual, the current MOT valid until 10/02/2021 and the Maintenance Record showing four main dealer stamps, the most recent of which was by Nissan Swansea on 10/02/20 at 29,170 miles. Right-hand drive, UK car originally supplied by Graypaul in Loughborough on 01/10/1999 Fitted with the 6-speed, electro-hydraulic, F1 gearbox and finished in Rosso Corsa with Rosso-piped Crema hide A staggering 400bhp from the 3586cc V8. 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and 186mph 7,595 warranted miles from new supported by a comprehensive service history Full Ferrari book pack in unmarked condition. Spare Key. MOT valid until 19/04/2021 Truly immaculate with a detailed history, one of the most attractive 360 Modenas we have ever seen In 1999, Ferrari knew that it was time to replace their much loved 355 and consequently the 360 was introduced to critical acclaim and immediately set a new benchmark for supercar styling and performance. The 360 Modena design was revolutionary, making extensive use of lightweight materials in its construction resulting in a much lighter car along with substantially increased rigidity. Ferrari also paid particular attention to improving the under-body aerodynamics using knowledge gained from their F1 programme and the 360 boasts a completely flat bottom with two prominent rear diffusers. The 3586cc engine produced a staggering 400bhp, resulting in a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 186mph, and the Pininfarina designed bodyshell presented an exceptionally clean, low-drag profile without the need for additional wings, flares or blisters. Another striking feature is the large glass rear screen that proudly displays the engine in all its glory. Introduced at the Geneva Show in March 1999 the 360 Modena, not unsurprisingly, swelled Ferrari's order books and within weeks there was a two-year waiting list. Originally supplied by Graypaul in Loughborough to Kevin Hurcum in Kent on 1-10-1999, this right-hand drive, 360 Modena is finished in Rosso Corsa with Rosso-piped Crema hide and Scuderia Wing Shields and was ordered with the 6-speed, electro-hydraulic, 'F1' gearbox. At the time of cataloguing, the Ferrari had covered a total of 7,595 miles, a figure corroborated by a full collection of MOT Certificates and Acknowledgements of SORN. The service history is as you would expect from such a cherished example and the Service Book details that it was serviced on 9/05/01 (H.R.Owen) at1,306 miles, 23/04/03 at 3,975 miles (cambelts) Graypaul, 25/05/04 Graypaul at 4,614 miles, 12/07/07 Terry Keys at 6,506 with cambelts and ball joints and 11/02/2020 (Graypaul) at 7,569 with cambelts. The current MOT dates from 20-04-2020 (7,583 miles) and is valid until 19-04-2021. It doesn't appear to have needed much mechanical attention over the years, apart from routine servicing, but those few invoices that are in the history file are from the best names, Graypaul, Lancaster, Terry Keys and JCT600. The tan leather Ferrari wallet that accompanies the car is as immaculate as the rest of the car and contains the Owner's Manual, Owner's Warranty and Service Book, Alarm System Manual, Hi-fi System Manual, Hi-Fi Warranty, Ferrari UK Warranty, Ferrari Assistance paperwork, Ferrari Dealers List, the original Ferrari Torch and spare keys. Truly immaculate, with a detailed history, and sensibly guided, this is one of the most attractive 360 Modenas we have ever seen. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Nick Whale. Conceived by General Motors as a high-performance flagship for its European Marques 3.6-litre, straight-six with twin turbochargers producing 377bhp and 419lb/ft. 6-speed ZR1 box Superbly-balanced rear-drive chassis, limited-slip differential and ventilated discs Dating from June 1992, Number 811 is one of only 284 right-hand drive Lotus Carltons produced The Imperial Green Pearlescent paint retains a deep shine. Superb Anthracite leather Comprehensive service history from new. Fastidiously maintained. Refreshed early last year Less than 100,000 miles, MOT valid until January and in remarkable condition The legendary Lotus Carlton is the kind of car that comes along once in a generation. At a time when really fast four-door saloons were the preserve of BMW and Mercedes, this Vauxhall (Opel) derived 'super-saloon' arrived on the scene demolishing the opposition. Oddly, it wasn't its huge performance or masculine good looks that created the most fuss, but the fact that the Daily Mail was so outraged by its stated top speed of 176mph, that it declared it too fast for British roads. Of course, the Lotus Carlton - or Type 104 to Lotus aficionados - was nothing of the sort, and although it shared its major components with a mainstream executive car, its level of development across every aspect of automotive dynamics had resulted in a truly special performance car. It was powered by a twin-turbo version of the venerable straight-six used in the range-topping Senator, which developed a remarkable 377bhp. To achieve that figure, Lotus had put a lot of work into the 3.6-litre power unit, uprating and strengthening the bottom end, porting the 24-valve cylinder head (from the Carlton GSI), and fitting forged 'slipper' pistons made by Mahle atop new Lotus-designed connecting rods tied to a counterweighted, forged steel crankshaft. The gearbox was the same six-speeder used in the Corvette ZR-1, the only transmission in GM's parts bin, capable of handling the car's monster torque. AP 'Group C' derived brakes - four-pot calipers with 330mm ventilated discs at the front and two-pot at the rear - sat behind specially developed Goodyear tyres. Performance was brisk, to say the least. 0-60mph came up in 5.0 seconds, 0-100 was dispatched in 11.1 seconds and in 1992, Autocar Magazine recorded a time of 17.0 seconds for their 0-100-0 challenge, 2nd best behind an F40, however, it's the car's maximum speed of 176mph that will always be quoted by its fans. Lotus Carlton (SCC0000019N1231798) was 'Signed from Production' on 23/06/1992 and granted Limited Edition Number 0811G. In common with every other Carlton, it was finished in Imperial Green pearlescent with Anthracite Connolly leather and despatched to Frosts (Cars) Ltd. in Shoreham-by-Sea who registered the car (K909 MFG) to its first owner on 14/01/93. Within the History File is the Lotus Carlton Maintenance Programme (Service Book) which contains a stamped Pre-delivery Inspection by Frosts which is followed by a 1,000-mile service on 21/1/1993 at 851 miles and a 'First Main Service' on 2/8/1993 at 9,095 miles. Frosts carried out the car's 2nd Main Service in early 1994 and on 13/05/94, '811' was registered to Brian McMullan in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, NI. The following three services were carried out by Vauxhall Dealers (Carlton specialists) 'Savilles Auto Village' in Lisburn with the latest of these being on 15/04/96 at 43,547 miles. It returned to England and was registered to Paul Nevill of Knebworth as K33 NEV on 26/07/96 and he enjoyed ownership of '811' until very recently. In March 2006, cherished registration K33 NEV was replaced with K909 MFG. Frosts of Shoreham returned to servicing the vehicle and carried out the next four services culminating with the 8th Main Service on 11/11/98 at 78,068 miles. Mr Nevill was obviously particularly fastidious as between early 1997 and January 2006 there are a total of 19 invoices from marque specialists for servicing, minor repairs and ongoing maintenance amounting to £14,995. The mileage at the most recent (27/01/2006) was 98,595 and the odometer reads 99,392 now so the car has covered less than 800 miles in the last 14 years having mainly been on SORN. In February 2019, '811' was refreshed by GB Autos of Colney with a bill for £1,652 and there is a very recent account (4/03/2020) from Saxon in Neath for £120 that relates to an oil and filter change. The current MOT is valid until 25/01/2021. It's obvious that this Carlton has been totally cherished, the Imperial Green paintwork retains a deep shine and the ruched Anthracite leather looks almost unmarked. The five-spoke alloys are excellent, the engine bay is very tidy and well detailed and the dashboard is crisp with bright instruments and 'LE 811' proudly displayed on the glovebox lid. The car is accompanied by its Owner's File with older MOTs, SORN documents, V5Cs, the Lotus 'Certificate of Vehicle Provenance', the aforementioned invoices, the bespoke green leather Lotus Carlton book pack with the service record and a spare set of keys. All in all, this is an original and unmolested example of these very collectable 'super saloons' and, in this remarkable condition, would be an asset to any collection. UK-supplied, right-hand drive R107 280 SL, indicating just 69,582 miles (atoc) Delightfully presented in Cabernet Red Metallic with a matching factory hardtop Superb interior in Cream Beige MB-Tex with unmarked Burr Walnut veneers Smooth, fuel-injected straight-six producing 182bhp and 176lb/ft. 4-speed automatic box With its original handbooks and service book along with a substantial history file. Serviced most recently at Mercedes-Benz With Pagoda prices now out of reach, the equally stylish R107SL is a very attractive option Some cars just get better looking with age and the R107 Series Mercedes-Benz SL is definitely among them. Overshadowed for a long time by its graceful 'Pagoda' predecessor, it's now becoming better appreciated for what it is - a beautifully built sports roadster that is totally dependable. To this day, no car door closes with a more reassuring 'thunk' than a Mercedes SL, and everything about the car suggests solid engineering. Fast, comfortable and discreetly understated, the SL has a matchless ability to munch up the miles for year after year without ever seeming to falter. No wonder it stayed in production, fundamentally unaltered, from 1971 until 1989 - the longest production run of any Mercedes car to date. First registered in May ready for the summer of 1985, the original owners must have been rather pleased with their choice when they collected their gleaming new Cabernet Red Metallic Mercedes-Benz 280 SL, we imagine quickly driving home from the dealership to stow the factory hard-top on its stand at the back of the garage before setting off to enjoy open-top motoring at its very best. Today this example pleasingly continues to present well with the paintwork retaining a deep shine and the tasteful Cream Beige MB-Tex and Burr Walnut interior looking cared for. Clearly this SL has lived a pampered life and this is supported by a comprehensive history file with the most recent services carried out by a Mercedes-Benz main agent. In our vendor's words ''On the road, she is a fine GT tourer with a lusty performance from the super twin-cam engine allied to the smooth four-speed auto gearbox''. It's supplied with the original books including the service booklet stamped up-to-date and the above-mentioned history file containing old MOTs and related invoices. Good, well looked after examples of the 107 are becoming increasingly difficult to source and, offered at a very realistic guide having covered less than 70,000 miles, we believe this lovely Mercedes represents superb value for money and, at the very least, will offer its new owner many years of enjoyable motoring. From Rock Legend, Jay Kay's, amazing collection. Owned by Jay for the past nine years. One of his favourite cars Very rare and desirable. One of only 64 UK-built, right-hand drive cars and one of only 18 with the Getrag 5-speed manual box Classic Alpina bodywork with deep front splitter, boot lid spoiler, 16" Alpina wheels and 'Deco Set' graphics 135,000 miles. E28 six-cylinder engines are known for their longevity. Excellent history, service records etc Sounds and looks superb and at this guide price, combined with rock star provenance, this is a rare opportunity This is one of 500 B9 3.5s (E28) built between 1981 and 1985 of which just 64 are understood to have been right-hand drive examples. Of the 64, 46 were supplied with ZF automatic transmission, with only 18 (including this car) being optioned with the far more desirable Getrag five-speed manual gearbox. Costing almost twice that of the BMW 528i SE (E28) on which it was based, the B9 3.5 offered huge power and performance increases over the standard car. Manual transmission B9 3.5s were easily the fastest saloon cars of their day. According to Autocar, 0-60mph required just 6.3 seconds and top speed was 153mph putting the E28-based Alpina on a par with Porsche's then-current 911. Left-hand drive examples were built by Alpina at Buchloe while right-hand drive production took place at Sytner in Nottingham. Cars destined for transformation were supplied by BMW with certain modifications already in place and then further enhanced with a long list of Alpina upgrades. The B9 engine had been developed from the unit used in BMW's 635 and 735 variants. Uprated by Alpina with a gas-flowed cylinder head featuring hemispherical combustion chambers, bigger inlet valves and a gas-flowed inlet manifold, a 268-degree high-lift camshaft and balanced pistons enabled compression to rise from 9.3 to 10.2:1. Combined with revised fuel injection settings, a reprogrammed Bosch Motronic engine management system and Alpina twin-pipe exhaust system, the net result was a conservatively rated 245bhp at 5700rpm. The standard ZF automatic gearbox was retained (a Getrag 5-speed manual box was an option) and those cars destined to become B9s always came with a BMW-fitted 25% limited-slip differential that was further uprated with an Alpina-installed oil cooler. Suspension modifications saw progressive-rate coil springs and adjustable gas-filled Bilstein dampers fitted although the original front and rear anti-roll bars stayed. New Alpina 16-inch wheels measured 7-inches wide at the front and 8 at the rear (requiring a small modification to the rear wheel arch), these light alloy rims originally being shod with Pirelli P7 tyres. Cosmetically the exterior was enhanced by Alpina's deep front spoiler, a rubber boot lid spoiler and body-coloured door mirrors, the eye-catching Deco stripe kit being an optional extra. Early examples were supplied with an amazing interior, the figure-hugging Scheel bucket seats being upholstered in Alpina's trademark grey fabric with blue and yellow stripes. Other bespoke features included an Alpina leather-rimmed four-spoke steering wheel, Alpina instrumentation, Alpina wooden gearknob and numbered dash plaque. Offered here is a beautiful B9 3.5 Alpina that for the last 9 years has formed part of a significant collection belonging to rock legend Jay Kay. First registered on 27th October 1983, this rare UK-delivered right-hand drive example is believed to be one of just 18 B9s with a manual gearbox. 64 right-hand drive cars in total were upgraded by Sytner in Nottingham (Alpina's UK partner) to this specification most of which had been delivered from BMW with an automatic transmission. Indicating 134,756 miles at the time of cataloguing 'A853 FRA' presents very well, the black paintwork retains a deep gloss and the Alpina clothed Scheel sports seats are superb. Accompanying the car is the original book-pack and a substantial history file containing a wealth of old MOTs, invoices dating back to the mid-80s and some correspondence between the previous owner and Jay Kay, both clearly BMW enthusiasts. It appears that shortly after purchasing the B9, Jay Kay instructed a thorough inspection from a marque specialist with all areas requiring attention to be taken care of. Pleasingly, a customer copy of an invoice for the purchase of this car from Sytner of Nottingham can also be discovered in the file, dated 1st September 1986, and this invoice clearly shows the full Alpina B9 specification leaving little doubt on the authenticity of this particular Alpina. Having been well maintained over the years and carefully selected for a good reason to form part of a diverse and interesting collection of motorcars, this is an opportunity to take ownership of this truly superb super saloon from the 1980s. A modern classic that really stands out from the crowd and should rightfully be preserved for future generations to see and admire. Performance BMWs continue to have a strong following and this Alpina is sure to be the talking point of any classic car show you choose to attend. The 944 Turbo Cabriolet combined the Turbo S' 250bhp engine with the strengthened cabriolet body built by ASC at Weinsberg Only 625 were built, with just 100 examples produced in right-hand drive for the UK, Japanese, Australian and South African markets Classically finished in Guards Red with a Classic Grey (TT) leather interior and grey carpets throughout Original and fully stamped Porsche Service Book plus numerous invoices for maintenance and previous MOT Certificates, helping support the indicated mileage Factory stickers still in situ, two sets of keys and a complete book-pack suggest careful ownership This is a simply lovely example of one of the rarest and most sought-after Porsches from the 1990s Following the international success of their nimble 924, Porsche designed an all-alloy, 2.5-litre inline-four for their new 944 which they planned to introduce in 1982. Their talented engineers were able to produce a very smooth running four-cylinder engine by utilising two counter-rotating balance shafts running at twice engine speed. These carry eccentric weights which produce inertial forces that balance out the unbalanced secondary forces, all a bit technical but the result is a large four-cylinder engine that feels as turbine-smooth as a six. Cosmetically, the 944's bodywork was revised with wider wheel arches (similar to that of the 924 Carrera GT), a fresh interior and upgrades to the brakes and suspension. With greater visual presence and the performance to match, better handling, stopping power and more creature comforts, the 944 was a natural step forward. A 'turbo' version of the 944 was always on the cards, and the forced induction boosted the 2.5-litre engine by a healthy 60bhp, necessitating an upgraded clutch and gearbox. The chassis was further developed and thicker anti-roll bars and four-pot brake calipers were fitted to deal with the significantly increased performance. Externally, a smoother nose panel and a larger rear spoiler distinguished it from its lesser siblings. In February 1991, the final year of 944 production, Porsche released the 944 Turbo Cabriolet which combined the Turbo S' 250bhp engine with the strengthened cabriolet body built by the ASC-American Sunroof Company at Weinsberg. Compared to the Coupé the Cabriolet's windscreen is lowered about 6cm and raked back to reduce the wind noise when the top is down. Porsche initially announced that 600 would be made, but ultimately 625 were built, with just 100 examples produced in right-hand drive for the UK, Japanese, Australian and South African markets. These are rare cars, produced for just one year, with only 32 examples believed to still reside in the UK. Presented here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 944 Turbo Cabriolet supplied new by Porsche Centre-Strattons of Wilmslow Ltd. on the 1st August 1992. Finished in the ageless Porsche colour combination of Guards Red with a Classic Grey (TT) leather interior and grey carpets throughout, this car is in superb condition and has today covered just 50,000 miles (approx.). It was supplied with options 220: a limited-slip differential with 40% lockup with reinforced inner plates and molybdenum coated differential shafts (as standard), 233: tyre specification, 573: air-conditioning, 605: headlight aim control and 946: leather/ leatherette seats. It was serviced by Porsche Centres (Strattons, Chariots, AFN) from 2,789 miles to 19,968 miles, and latterly by marque specialists. It's supplied with the original fully stamped Porsche Service Book, numerous invoices for maintenance, and older MOT Certificates, which help corroborate the indicated mileage. Now being sold from part of an enthusiast's collection, this car has recently benefited from a full service (including cam-belt) in 2016. Bought by our vendor from a Porsche main dealer, unfortunately, a change in circumstances now means he must sell the car. This fabulous, open-top, Porsche has obviously been well-maintained and presents, both mechanically and cosmetically, really well. Small but important details like factory stickers still in situ, two sets of keys and a complete book-pack help support its careful ownership. This is a simply lovely example of one of the rarest and most sought-after Porsches from the 1990s. The 944, the 968 and even the 928 are seeing their values rise in the wake of the '911 explosion' and front-engined Porsches are having the Renaissance they richly deserve. This great example, whilst being competitively guided, opens the door into a very exclusive club. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Joe Watts. Very rare (1/1,366) 1300cc Giulietta Sprint Speciale with great provenance 100bhp/120mph from the 1290cc double overhead cam, alloy block, straight-four. Remarkable Correct 5-speed box, rare alloy wheels, upgraded front brakes and an oil cooler Until recently part of a large UK private collection and maintained by their in-house mechanic Eligible to race in a plethora of prestigious 'Blue Riband' events 2015 FIA/MSA Historic Technical Passport (Period E 1947-61 Class GTS4) valid until 2025 Carta di Circolazione, CSAI Passaporto and Log Book, Classic Car Taxatie (Dutch valuation) When Francesco Vittorio Scaglione moved to Turin in 1951 in pursuit of his dream to become a car stylist, he was fortunate enough to be taken under the wing of a young Nuccio Bertone, who had recently established his own design studio and body shop. Franco's first efforts were focussed on an Abarth 1500 and the svelte Siata 208CS followed by the dramatic BAT 5. In 1954, he styled the Alfa Sportiva Coupé and Spider, subsequently the superbly balanced Giulietta Sprint (aided and abetted by ex-Ghia, Mario Boano) and finally, the out-of-this-world BAT 7, a design that stops traffic now never mind 65 years ago. Scaglione's output was prodigious with creative designs flowing from his fingertips onto the drawing board. In 1956, he penned the remarkable little Giulietta Sprint Speciale, an example of which we are offering here. It embodied his search for streamlined beauty and, despite the lack of computer-aided design, the car's Coefficient of Drag was a tiny .28, scarcely troubling the surrounding air, and a figure that would not be bettered for 20 years. In 1957, at the Turin Motor Show, a pre-production prototype of the SS was given a low-key debut to assess reaction and was particularly well-received, however, Alfa continued to tweak the design and displayed two further prototypes at later motor shows until, on June 24th 1959, the official press launch of the finalised design was held at Monza in the lovely Italian sunshine. The new car was powered by an Alfa Romeo Twin Cam straight-four of 1290cc, with an aluminium-alloy engine block and cast-iron inserted sleeves. The 'crossflow' alloy head featured hemispherical combustion chambers and the double overhead camshafts were driven by two timing chains and acted on two valves per cylinder, angled at 80°. With 100bhp available and lightweight streamlined bodywork, this little car had a recorded maximum speed of 124mph, quite remarkable for a 1300. Motorsport is part of the Italian DNA and Alfa were convinced that Scaglione's incredibly 'slippery' design would offer success on the circuits and with the FIA requirement to produce 100 cars in order for the model to be 'Homologated', the first 101 cars produced had the "low nose" and 750SS designation. Whilst there were some all-aluminium cars produced, the majority of these cars had steel bodies with aluminium doors, engine bonnet and boot lid. After these initial cars, the Tipo 101.2 was introduced as a production road-going model and changes included steel doors, Weber 40 DCOE2 carburettors, a higher front nose, removal of Plexiglas windows, bumpers front and rear, and minimal sound-proofing. In total 1,366 1.3-litre, Giulietta SS were completed with production ending in 1965. This charming Guilietta SS 1300 dates from early 1960 and was used as a road car until being converted to an historic racing car in Italy at some point in the past. During 2005, it was granted FIA papers (Period E /Class HGTS4) and in 2011, the little Alfa was imported to the UK to join a large private collection where it was campaigned by a prominent historic racer and carefully maintained by the collection's personal mechanic. In 2015, it was fitted with new FIA seats and belts but, as always with any competition car, it is essential that a new owner satisfies himself as to the legality, validity and currency of any racing-related equipment. An MSA/FIA Historic Technical Passport (Racing and Hill-Climb) was issued in 2015 and is valid until the end of 2025. The car is nicely prepared and has been well maintained with the bodywork, underneath, running gear and engine all appearing to remain in very good condition. It's fitted with twin Weber DCOE2s, an oil cooler and retains its correct 5-speed gearbox, however, the internals of the original engine obviously made a determined bid for freedom as it has been replaced by another original, model-correct, power unit. Lighter alloy wheels replace the original steel examples and the triple-shoe front brakes have been upgraded to aid retardation. It is supplied with old Italian registration documents that date back to 1967, the FIA/MSA HTP, Carta di Circolazione, CSAI Passaporto and Log Book (lots of interesting entries), a Classic Car Taxatie (Dutch valuation) along with a binder full of history. With only a handful of these cars racing, both in Europe and the UK, their values continue to strengthen and this venerable Alfa seems very competitively guided. We are sure that the car will be welcome at a number of prestigious motorsport events throughout Europe but, even if you choose not to race it, this is a classic example of Bertone's most creative period and with its diminutive stance, fifties Alfa cachet and Scaglione's 'molten velvet' flowing lines, it's simply a work of automotive art. You can book an appointment to view this the FORD GT40 with Lionel Abbott. Please make contact on 07831 574381 to agree a suitable date and for location details. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions will be given when making your appointment.Terry Drury built up a very comprehensive spare parts stock including a 'Works' 302 cubic inch, four-bolt main bearing, Gurney-Weslake Ford V8 and a ZF Le Mans gearbox. The inventory, we understand, included a tub featuring the infamous fuel-cross over fabrications and it is believed that this spare monocoque was supplied to Terry after #1073 was damaged at Monza, however, the damage turned out to be less serious than initially thought and the new tub was put aside.Fast forward some fifty years and after a lifetime in motorsport, it was decided that Terry Drury Racing would set about assembling their GT40 as an homage to #1005 and #1073, utilising many original parts, and the period Gurney-Weslake and ZF-1 gearbox. As the project started, Silverstone Auctions were invited to the TDR premises and to view the etch-primed bare monocoque, still tight as a drum, and discuss with Terry the build specification and the plethora of original works parts that would be incorporated in the build.A new wiring loom to the original specification was used, however, original factory connector plugs for the front and rear bodywork are used. The steering column and rack are original items together with refurbished tie-rods. The steering column flasher stalk is original, as are the Lucas switches and warning lights. Both the heated screen and the original wiper motor mechanism operate and the ventilation system on the dash features the original eye-ball air vents and dash centre windscreen vent. Another rare feature is the foot vent on the passenger side centre section, designed to extract hot air from the tunnel carrying internal pipework from the front radiator and engine. The front and rear uprights are original factory Magnesium items (one rear upright has 1015 stamped on it) as are the tubular wishbones, driveshafts, hubs and rear roll bar and the original Koni double adjustable spring/damper units were rebuilt by 'TrueChoice' in the USA. The front wheels are original BRM Magnesium 15 x 9 inch but the rears are remanufactured 15 x 14 inch to the same BRM Magnesium specification with Halibrand spinners. The original 'Works' 302 cubic inch, 4-bolt main bearing Gurney Weslake Ford V8 is complete with its original steel crank, 'Indy' rods, and works peak-top pistons with the bore size remaining at 4-inches. The rocker assembly was acquired with other miscellaneous parts from Dan Gurney's private collection and original Italian Weber 48 IDA carburettors are fitted. The build of the engine was sadly interrupted by Terry's passing but was completed by his sons, Jack and Steven and time-served TDR mechanics. A new aluminium radiator and oil cooler were fabricated to original spec and a fan ensures temperatures stay within limits. The engine oil cooler is housed in an original mount with period-correct fittings and the gearbox oil cooler is located where Terry Drury preferred, on top of the rear subframe. The fuel system features brand-new FIA-approved Premier tank bladders in each side pontoon (accompanied by their Certificates of Conformity) and both pontoons retain the original aluminium fuel tank closing panels. Fuel lines are in Aeroquip fed by the original Stewart Warner pumps, complete with a new rebuild kit. The fuel filler caps are also the original magnesium type with the, now very rare, vent valves used on the early cross-over monocoques. The car's brakes - new callipers, pads, vented disc and bells from BG Developments - are brand new but original specification and period correct. The brake lines have been run as original with copper piping routed through the monocoque in their original positions whilst some of the flexible piping is now in Aeroquip with safety in mind. The fibreglass seats were produced by the original trimmer and feature parachute material with those distinctive brass eyelets. Many original body panels had been retained by TDR over the years and we understand that the vented front section, rear body and doors with period-correct latches, were as used at Monza, Spa and Le Mans.Although not a household name, Terry Drury played a significant part in the world of British motorsport for several decades. As well as building and racing some amazing Special Saloons whilst working for Ford, he played a significant role in Ford Advanced Vehicles helping develop the GT40. He was also responsible for the 'Supervan', a GT40-engined Ford Transit van and there was many a Transit van-driving teenager with a photograph of a sideways 450bhp Supervan on their bedroom wall. Many years later, whilst preparing a competitive Ford Falcon Sprint for the HSCC, it occurred to him that it might be fun to finally build his GT40 monocoque into a full car and recreate some of those happy days with #1005 and #1073.This 1968 GT40 is unique, in the proper sense of the word consisting of, not only this extraordinarily faithfully-constructed monocoque but so many original parts from Terry Drury's personal collection. It has been acknowledged by one of the most respected GT40 specialists as the most accurate monocoque Ford GT40 that he has ever seen. Built by Peugeot Sport UK under the guidance of Des O'Dell. Sister car to actual factory owned T16 1.8-litre, turbocharged, 16v, transversely-mounted, 4-cylinder producing 350+bhp and 332lb.ft Used by Jon Woodner with great success in the US between late 84 and 88 Purchased by Peter Johnson & shipped to New Zealand in 2000 prior to a full recommission Rebuilt & upgraded by NZ rally legend, Ron McMillan, to a remarkable standard In the UK since 04, invited everywhere & actively displayed by its owners A comprehensive history, large owner's file & a substantial spares package 'Group B' cars with this pedigree & known history rarely come to market The Peugeot 205 T16 'Evolution 1' marked Peugeot's 'works' entry into top-level rallying, shaking the world of WRC 'Group B'. From its debut with Ari Vatanen, it was the car that provided 2 years of almost complete domination of the WRC by the Jean Todt-led Peugeot Talbot Sport team. As well as Vatanen, Bruno Saby, Timo Salonen, & Juha Kankkunen contributed to a total of 13 outright wins between 85/86, placing Peugeot at the pinnacle of Group B until it was eventually banned on safety grounds in 1987. The car's clever, mid-engine 4 x 4 packaging with transversely-mounted engine & suspension, great derivability made it almost unbeatable. With a 16-valve head, mechanical fuel injection compressed by a turbocharger running at approximately 1.5 BAR, the little four-pot developed as much as 400 bhp at an incredible 8,000 rpm. Peugeot factory stats quoted max torque was 332 lb.ft at 5000 rpm coupled with a relatively svelte 2,160 pounds, acceleration was almost linear prompting some drivers to complain of 'tunnel vision'. The example offered here is 'the' Jon Woodner Car # S007. Commissioned by American Real Estate Developer & rally driver in 84, it was built by Peugeot Sport UK under the guidance of Des O'Dell, before being exported to the USA for Jon's outings in the SCCA Rally Championship. The Peugeot arrived in the US late 84 & its 1st 'shakedown' was at the Carson City International Rally on Dec 8/9. The rally was won by Hannu Mikkola but unfortunately 'S7', co-driven by Ty Holmquist, recorded a DNF. The following year, with Tony Sircombe navigating, only 2 rallies were entered but 86 proved a more productive year with 7 SACCA events rewarding Jon & Tony with 5 podiums. The high spot of 86 was undoubtedly the Olympus Rally in early Dec which, was an official round of the World Rally Championship & consequently Jon & S7, as leading 'privateers' were treated to 'works support' & an abundance of factory upgrades. 87 was to be another full season for the team with events in Ireland, France & Belgium however the Peugeot remained at home in the States enjoying 5 outings in SACCA achieving two 2nd & a 3rd in very competitive fields. In early April 1988, Chassis S7 made its final appearance in Jon's hands at the intriguingly named Chattahoochee Forest Pro Rally poignantly resulting in an 'Open Class' win. Sadly, Jon was killed in an aeroplane crash 2 weeks later the 24th of April 1988. Having acquitted itself brilliantly over the previous three years, Jon's beloved T16 was put into storage by his widow in 89, however, in 2000, Peter Johnson, a New Zealand businessman purchased S7 & it was immediately shipped to NZ accompanied by a substantial quantity of spares. Shortly after its arrival, Ron McMillan of Road, Race & Rally in Auckland was asked to fully strip & assess the car and he entrusted Alistair Wickens to dismantle the rolling shell & evaluate its condition prior to the rebuild. Having fully considered all the options, Peter Johnson decided on a 'no-expense-spared' rebuild with some minor modifications to make it more approachable & acceptable for rallying in the early 2000s. There were small changes made to the bodywork, engine management, turbo & the car was fitted with Pectel fuel injection, new wiring, seats, safety equipment & a comprehensive replacement & upgrade of the suspension (Proflex), wheels & brakes. NB; the gearbox is now an original, period-correct, 6-speed, H-pattern E1. This more-modern spec enabled the car to qualify for current events & it subsequently enjoyed outings in the world-famous, 5-day Targa NZ & even UK/Ireland based rallies such as the Killarney International. Peter then formed an agreement with Lancashire-based, ex-works Peugeot driver, Kevin Furber, to buy & keep the car in the UK. Kevin had been around the factory in period & knew the car well so this was a dream fulfilled. In 2005, Andy Medlicott purchased a 50% share in the car to become its joint owner. The car has been maintained to the highest of standards, regardless of cost it’s been invited to & appeared at lots of major motoring events, both in the UK & Europe - Goodwood, Rallycar Day, Rally GB, Race Retro etc. not just as a static display but one that is ready to be driven & enjoyed. To quote Andy Medlicott; "As an ex-works Peugeot driver, Kevin does most of the display driving because the car is still fast and aggressive & needs to be treated with respect, however, I have had the opportunity to drive on several display events & test it. I remember driving in front of ten thousand people in Holland & feeling very nervous, not wanting to make a mistake but also feeling the need to put on a good display for the crowds, I'm always blown away with the crowd's reactions to this car & I'm very humbled when people ask for my autograph. Thanks to the Peugeot 205 T16, we’ve been to places we never would have been to & met people we never would have met. This includes many works drivers of the Group B era who have subsequently put their signature on the car - Ari Vatanen, Juha Kankkunen, Miki Biasion, Harri Toivonen & even Paddy Hopkirk". To accompany the T16 there is a history file that includes a District of Columbia Certificate of Title for Jon Woodner & his SCCA Rally Log Book detailing events 1984-87, the New Zealand Certificate of Registration, import & shipping papers for New Zealand & the UK, a 2003 Targa New Zealand Programme featuring S7, photographs of the car prior to the rebuild in, a T16 Service Manual & access to numerous films, videos & photographs of the car in the UK with such luminaries as Ari Vatanen, Colin McRae, Didier Auriol, Malcolm Wilson and Chris Ingram amongst others! A package of spares is included.Rarely do such iconic machines with known history from day one venture on to the open market making this an opportunity that may not come around again for a very long time. One of only 574 Bentley convertibles produced between 1967 and 1995 Absolutely delightful combination of Royal Blue over blue-piped magnolia hide Excellent electric hood in matching blue mohair with a blue-piped magnolia fitted cover Just over 39,000 miles from new supported by the comprehensive service history Freshly MOT'd, spare keys, full and original book pack set and service schedule The cherished registration H20 BCT will remain with the car The Bentley Continental and Rolls-Royce Corniche convertibles were built in Crewe and both utilised the traditional 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce alloy engine, and GM auto gearbox found in their saloon variant, the Silver Shadow. The Series I Bentley and Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible versions of the Shadow and T1 models first appeared in 1967, and production continued up until the first major face-lift in 1988, renamed the Corniche II when ABS and airbags became standard. The Series III debuted at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show when new alloy wheels, a revised interior, colour-coded bumpers, more advanced suspension, and MK-Motronic fuel injection were introduced. The final iteration, the Series IV, arrived in 1992. This particular Continental Series III has the benefits of the Rolls-Royce Corniche III upgrades and is a UK-car supplied through Jack Barclay when new. It's finished in the stylish colour combination of Royal Blue with Magnolia hide, piped blue, and a blue electric soft top, the car sits well, drives superbly and looks very smart in the metal. The full and comprehensive service history supports the current indicated mileage of just over 39,000 miles. Between 1967 and 1995 just 574 Bentley soft tops were produced compared to 4,548 Corniche convertibles, making this car a rare and special opportunity underpinned both by its condition and provenance. On offer from a private Bentley collector, this delightful motor car is offered with an MOT valid until May 2021, spare keys and its original book pack and service records. The essence of Continental ownership was once most aptly summed up by Autosport's inimitable John Bolster. Writing in 1958, Bolster noted that the Continental was a classical design that achieved a high degree of excellence by its sheer quality of construction: "In doing so, it develops an individuality, a character, call it what you will, that makes it entirely different from any other marque. The man who drives a Continental lives in an enchanted world, for everybody calls him 'sir' and he may park where other lesser cars may never tread." Despite the passage of more than 60 years, Bolster's words ring every bit as true today as they did then. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Harry Whale. In 1971, the Europa Twin Cam (Type 74) was introduced with a 105bhp, 1558cc Lotus-Ford 'Twink'Body-off and new chassis. Fastidiously restored over a 12-year period Bodywork fully stripped and re-painted in amazing Roman Purple. New Beige and Oatmeal interiorBig-bore engine rebuilt and set up by the legendary Richard Winter of Europa Engineering. Now 145bhpRebuilt chassis, electrics etc. In fact virtually everything. Over £30,000 has been spent with specialists Thousands of hours of work by the previous owner. A real labour of loveWith only 2,000 miles completed since the restoration, this immaculate Twin Cam is sensibly guided and is a cost-effective entry into '70s classic sports cars Launched at the 1967 Brussels Show, the Lotus Type 46 - the Europa - was the marque's first mid-engined road car, and was powered by a Renault 16 engine mounted in an Elan-type backbone frame. Its specification also included all-round independent coil-sprung suspension and disc brakes on the front wheels (subsequently on the rear, too). Unusual styling provided ample luggage space while rearward visibility through the narrow, full-width back window was surprisingly good.Having been manufactured exclusively for export for its first two years, the Europa made its UK debut in 1969 in improved S2 form. Renault engined like its S1 predecessor, the S2 reverted to a conventional body/chassis attachment, the S1 'shell having been bonded in place - a move that greatly simplified, and cheapened, accident repairs - while electric windows and adjustable seats were welcome additions to the previously somewhat penny-pinching specification. In the autumn of 1971, the Type 74 Europa Twin Cam was introduced, powered, as its name suggests, by the Ford-based DOHC engine from the Elan. With 105 bhp on tap, the Twin Cam was good for 117 mph, a figure bettered by the more powerful (126 bhp) 'Big Valve' engined Special model that superseded it after a year.According to the Lotus Europa Twin Cam Register, Chassis No. 74/1041P was built in the Autumn of 1971 and finally invoiced on 28/10/1971. It's listed as having Engine No.25136, a 4-speed 336-56 gearbox and was originally finished in L14 (Colorado Orange). The stunning little Roman Purple car you see today has come a long way since then. It's been subject to a 12-year fastidious restoration and we are fortunate to have the full details of this 'labour of love'. The report runs to five pages and is too long to list here (please click our website link below to view the report) but we can offer the opening paragraph."The restoration took place over a 12 year period. The car arrived in a very poor state and it was obvious from the start that this would be an exhaustive and complete restoration. The body was removed and the original chassis exposed and inspected and as suspected was badly corroded across the front T. This is the usual place where corrosion occurs, because of a water build-up over the front T piece. The best option would be to replace the old chassis with a new one. I bought a genuine Lotus chassis that had been refurbished to as new. The idea was to move usable parts from the old chassis to the new, whilst refurbishing during the changeover. As it turned out, very little of the old running gear was salvageable, so new parts were sought out and installed."The rest of the report is as comprehensive as we have ever seen and, in our opinion, totally confidence-inspiring. We understand that the car has only covered around 2,000 miles since the restoration and certainly presents superbly today in a classic period shade of Roman Purple with Gold pin-stripes and a delightful interior in Beige, Oatmeal and Burr Walnut. The odometer currently indicates 85,172 miles which is completely academic as most of the car has covered about 2,000 miles. It's fair to say that elderly Lotus sports cars do not have a reputation for being the most reliable forms of transport and, without wishing to denigrate the efforts of the legendary ACBC, build quality didn't win any Oscars either but, in terms of innovative design, no company was better. So this little purple jewel is the best of all worlds combining the looks and handling of the Europa Twin Cam with an engine prepared by one of the best engine builders anywhere and the build quality you would expect from an owner who put thousands of careful hours into his pride and enjoy. It's remarkably sensibly guided so read the full report below, look at the photographs, and make a decision that, for once, works for both head and heart. UK-supplied, right-hand drive, with less than 25,000 warranted miles from new Superbly presented in Arctic Silver Metallic with Black Extended Leather Desirable six-speed manual gearbox Complete dealer/specialist service history. Porsche COA. Recent MOT Presented with all hand and service books, all service invoices and both keys An exceptional example. A reluctant sale from discerning Porsche collector The sparkling Boxster 'S' Manual that we have on offer here must surely qualify as one of the very finest currently available and is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a Black Hood and desirable Extended Black Leather. According to its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, it was optioned from new with Heated Seats, 19'' Carrera Classic Alloy Wheels, a Sports Steering Wheel, and Top Tinted glass, a very desirable specification. The top of the range 'S' was powered by the state of the art, 3.4-'litre, 299 bhp/250 lb.ft, water-cooled DOHC, 24-valve, Boxer flat-6 (Vario Cam Plus) 'M97.22' This UK-spec, right-hand drive, 987 was built in early 2008 at the Valmet Automotive plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland and was supplied new by the Porsche Centre Sheffield in January 2009. At the time of cataloguing the odometer indicated mileage of less than 25,000 and this is supported by MOTs and a 'full dealer/specialist' service history as below. 7,574 miles (Porsche) 13,841 miles (Porsche) 20,069 miles (Porsche) 23,006 miles (Zentrum Porsche) 24,226 miles (Zuffenhaus Porsche), with the last 'major' service including gearbox oil, spark plugs and drive belt replacement. All service/handbooks are present as is the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity together with the car's original two keys. The recently issued MOT Certificate (No Advisories), shows a recorded mileage of 24,423 and is valid until February 2021. The standard of finish, externally and internally, is exceptional and a testament to all four custodians who have clearly lavished much time in keeping up its appearance. It remains virtually unmarked throughout including the wheels which are wearing matching Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The 300bhp, 3.4-litre engine, six-speed manual gearbox and legendary Porsche build quality make the Boxster S one of the most enjoyable performance cars available at any price and dynamically the 'S' is still the 'King' of the roadster brigade. On offer from a small 'classic' collection, this lovely low-mileage car has all the gloss, integrity and well-oiled solidity of a 987 that's just rolled of the production line and will provide its next lucky owner with a sensibly guided entry into the rather exclusive world of Porsche ownership. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions will be given when making your appointment. An evolution of the XK120 with improved accommodation and rack-and-pinion steering Jaguar's sublime 3.4-litre, twin-cam six, which now produced 190bhp in standard trim thanks to high-lift camshafts and revised porting Right-hand drive, manual overdrive example with matching numbers and original panels Full photographic restoration, lots of fascinating history and a Heritage Certificate Originally a left-hand drive, US-car. In the UK since 1989 and owned by a Jaguar-enthusiast since 1999 Launched in 1954, the Jaguar XK140 was broadly similar to, though more refined than, its XK120 predecessor, major engineering changes being confined to the repositioning of the engine 3-inches further forward and the adoption of rack-and-pinion steering as used on the racing C-Type. The suspension and brakes remained much as before, though with stiffer torsion bars at the front and telescopic shock absorbers replacing the previous lever-type at the rear. Outwardly the newcomer was distinguishable by its revised radiator grille, rear lights incorporating flashing indicators, and larger bumpers - the latter adopted to withstand the cut and thrust of urban parking. The power unit remained Jaguar's well-tried, 3.4-litre, twin-cam six, which now produced 190bhp in standard trim thanks to higher-lift camshafts and revised porting. The car presented here is a 1955 Jaguar XK140 SE 3.4-litre Fixed Head Coupe with a desirable manual gearbox, manufactured on the 25th November 1955 and despatched to acclaimed US Jaguar dealer 'Hornburg of Los Angeles' (established in 1947). Fascinatingly, a much later owner of the car (and the person responsible for overseeing its complete restoration) in the 1990s, a Mr Ralph of Devon, contacted the wife of the original US owner (who in 1955 already owned an earlier XK120), a Mrs Phyllis Hobbs. There are letters in the history file explaining that Mr Hobbs purchased the car new from 'British Motor Sales' in San Diego, California. Mrs Hobbs explains that the car was put in her name (backed up by numerous original Automobile Registration Cards bearing both her name and the car's details from the 1960s & '70s) and sent to her in the Chicago area for a while before both returned to San Diego. In 1960, Mr Hobbs' work took him to Nebraska to supervise the missile bases being built there. The couple moved to Nebraska for two years, dutifully trailering their beloved XK140 with them behind their Oldsmobile! Upon their return to San Diego, the car was repainted red and joined by two E-Types and a Mk4 in the Hobbs' extensive garage! Charmingly, there are also copies of photos of the Hobbs with the XK140. By 1993, the Hobbs had sold all their classic Jaguars, except the XK120. Such priceless provenance! As stated, the car returned to the UK in 1989 as a very complete, matching-numbers example (still with its Black with Red piping interior features). In need of much work, it was bestowed with the most thorough of fully documented restorations, ensuring all major components and panels stayed together. It was converted to RHD and returned to its original colour combination of Pearl Grey paintwork and Black with Red piped interior. Upon completion, the car won numerous Concours events held by Jaguar clubs - known for their exacting standards. In 1999, the XK was purchased by our Jaguar-enthusiast vendor, as he had known Mr Ralph and the quality of the car, and it has formed the basis of a small collection of best-of-breed Jaguars for the last 20 years. Maintained and stored with the utmost of care and attention, this impressive British sportscar is in fine fettle and ready to be enjoyed by a new owner. Launched in 2004, the Vanquish S featured an increase in engine power to 520bhp from 460, revised gear and back axle ratios and a much-improved paddle-shift gear change 1 of only 375, right-hand drive S variants built, this lovely example has covered just 28,300 miles (atoc) A superb combination of Tungsten Silver with Obsidian Black leather and red calipers Very well spec'd with Plus 2 seating, Linn hi-fi, Motorola car phone, and satellite navigation Great history. 11 main dealer stamps, last two at Aston Works Service at Newport Pagnell New discs and tyres plus a full refresh of the underneath three/four years ago Our vendor has generously included cherished registration number VS55 AML in the sale This desirable Aston appears to be guided very sensibly for such a rare car The Vanquish was built in two versions, a two-seater and what became known as the '2+2' with a couple of child-friendly rear seats filling the space that in the two-seater was occupied by a shelf for a golf bag or other luggage. A pleasing blend of up-to-the-minute technology and traditional materials, the interior was dominated by an imposing aluminium centre console extending from fascia to transmission tunnel. Connolly leather upholstery, Wilton carpeting and quilted Alcantara headlining emphasised its Aston Martin heritage for, despite its advanced specification, the Vanquish was built like all other Astons before it, one at a time and by hand. Production ceased in 2007, by which time the model had been upgraded as the Vanquish 'S' and the UK list price had risen to over £185,000. The Vanquish is yet another 'James Bond' Aston Martin, having featured in 'Die Another Day' starring Pierce Brosnan as the eponymous secret agent. The car offered here is an example of the revamped Vanquish 'S' that superseded the original version following its debut at the Paris Auto Show in 2004. Chief upgrade concerned the engine, which now produced 520bhp, an output good enough to whistle the 'S' up to 200mph, a figure only recently exceeded by the Aston 177. The previously optional Sports Dynamic Pack of enhanced steering, suspension and brakes came as standard with the 'S'. It was the last of the line of handbuilt Aston Martins, the last model to be produced at the Newport Pagnell factory and, with only 375 built in right-hand drive, is now a very rare car. At circa £185,000 when new in 2005, exclusivity had its price. Having owned a DB4 for many years, one of the first Aston Martins produced at Newport Parnell, our vendor was keen to bookend his Astons with a Vanquish 'S' the last model to roll out of the factory gates at Newport Pagnell and he commenced a thorough search for the best example he could find. A number of cars were inspected before his search culminated in this lovely example. Its previous owner had intended it to be the centrepiece of a museum in Devon dedicated to "The Best of British", however, in 2013 the plan was changed and a decision was taken to auction the entire collection. Our determined vendor drove 300 miles there and back to test drive the Vanquish which was duly purchased after an active bidding contest. The original auction catalogue is in the history file. Classically finished in Tungsten Silver with Black leather (coincidentally the same as the "Die Another Day" car) it's the practical Plus Two version and was fitted from new with a Linn Hi-Fi, Motorola car phone, Sat-Nav and red brake calipers. Our vendor was particularly attracted by its traceable ownership, being a highly spec'd dealer demonstrator, one family and just two owners together with a full main dealer service history which sealed the deal. An indicated mileage of 23,000 showed that the Aston had seen light regular use and it drove so much better than many much lower mileage examples that he had inspected. Immediately after purchase Vanquish specialists, Bamford Rose, were entrusted with the car with instructions to completely go through it sorting out any niggles and concerns. The Vanquish has been maintained regardless of expense and the most recent couple of services have, reassuringly, been carried out at Aston Works Service. A complete car assessment by Aston Works is included within the large history file. Particular emphasis was placed by the vendor in getting the 'S' driving as it should, which only a few firms can do correctly, particularly the gearbox which has a reputation for being a little recalcitrant, however, this example is now described as "the best he has ever experienced in a Vanquish". The car has just been MOT'd for 12 months (no advisories), was serviced by Aston Works Service less than 150 miles ago and is accompanied by a comprehensive history file. Our vendor has enjoyed the car for a little over 5,000 miles during his ownership, however, with new cars added to his growing collection, the Aston is simply not being used enough and it's time for someone else to experience the pleasure of this delightful, correctly set-up, 520bhp, Vanquish 'S'. The BMW E9 3.0 CSL (Coupe Sport Light) was built as an homologation special to allow the car to be eligible to race in the European Touring Car Championship Unveiled in 1971 at the Geneva Motor show, production ran until 1975 (1,265 cars in total) This 'Batmobile' replica is based on a 1973 E9 CS shell, completed to a very high specification and would cost considerably over £100,000 to replicate Powered by an M30 Alpina B10 unit, mated to a five-speed Getrag dog-leg gearbox Full FIA/HTP roll cage, fuel cell, race seats, 6-point harness, lightweight wings, doors, bonnet and boot, plus full 'Batmobile' rear wing and air scoop Fantastic road/track day car but could also be a very serious racing car with some minor tweaks Cherished registration number 4 BYJ will stay with the car This superbly presented, left-hand drive recreation of the legendary 'Batmobile' is a fantastic road/track day car but has the potential, with a few modifications, to become a competitive historic competition car. Painstakingly created over a five-year period by its previous owner, '4BYJ' is based on a 1973 BMW CS shell prepared with enormous attention to detail and a very high standard of workmanship. The engine is an M30 Alpina B10 unit, overhauled by Fritz's Bits of Somerset and this is mated to a five-speed Getrag dog-leg gearbox. An aluminium boot, bonnet and doors have been fitted, together with Image wheels, a Sideloader LSD, Brembo front brakes, a ducted side exhaust, new windscreen and rubbers, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, ATL fuel cell to FIA standard FT3-1999 (with a Certificate of Conformance valid until 2022), OMP race seat (in compliance with FIA standard 8859-1999), racing harness and a Custom Cages roll cage. Our vendor, a well-known collector and historic racing driver bought the 'Batmobile' from its previous owner, who commissioned the initial build, and has painstakingly gone through this wonderful machine during his ownership and the results are clear to see. Interestingly, going through the history file, there is some correspondence between our vendor and the MSA as to the car's potential eligibility for FIA papers. Our vendor informs us that he's been advised that there are five minor areas that would need to be addressed in order to potentially obtain an FIA HTP. 1. Change the bell housing for the period-correct item. 2. Change the clutch slave cylinder. 3. Change the distributor 4. Change the Brembo calipers for original BMW parts 5. The exhaust should not be recessed into the bodywork and a small section of the floor would need to be returned to manufacturer's spec. Our vendor has preferred to use this fabulous replica for road use during his ownership and he is generously including the cherished private plate '4 BYJ' in the sale. Finished in Chamonix White with the classic 'M Sport' stripes in Process Blue, Purple 268 and Warm Red and sounding fabulous, this fantastic homage to the iconic 'Batmobile' would cost considerably over £100k to replicate today. Accompanied by the aforementioned history file, correspondence with the MSA, along with its UK V5C, Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this superbly crafted homage to one of the most legendary Touring Cars in BMW's history. For those of us of a certain age, there is a huge amount of appeal in being able to enjoy a serious 'track day' on a Thursday at Silverstone in a gorgeous, well-sorted, E9 'Batmobile' and 'burble up' in the same car at your favourite pub on a Sunday lunchtime. Delightful, early 5-dial dashboard, short wheelbase, 5-speed, four-cylinder 912 Imported from the USA in 2009. Subject to extensive works by Tower Bridge Porsche (£28,000) Further invoices (Strasse, Roger Bray and Renn Sport) take total spend to over £42,000 Full, engine and glass-out respray in Porsche Schwarz 041, new interior, new headlining New floor pans, inner and outer sills, fuel tank and fuel lines, and refurbed alloys Fitted with a rebuilt, period-correct, original 912 engine dated 1967. (original 'matching-numbers' engine block is included in the sale) The question of how to tempt new customers into Porsche ownership has always been problematic. On the one hand, you're trying to uphold the reputation of the company as a purveyor of high-quality, high-performance sports cars whilst on the other, you're anxious not to alienate those potential customers whose budget won't stretch to a new 911. In 1964, Porsche had just such a problem with the sales of their new 911 proving a touch disappointing and continuing demand for the 356, which was scheduled to be phased out, necessitating that the production lines kept rolling. The solution seemed to be financial, and the decision was made to replace the 356 with a four-cylinder, more appropriately priced 911 and, as a result, the 912 (initially 902) was conceived. Like so many Porsche 912s, this particular example was delivered new in left-hand drive to its first owner in the USA during December 1965. Originally finished in Aga Blue with a Beige leatherette interior, the car was ordered with tinted glass and chrome wheel hubs. Some 44 years later in 2009, it was imported to the UK from the US (a copy of a Certificate of Title for Virginia State resides in the history file) and, upon arrival, was subject to extensive works by marque specialists, Tower Bridge Porsche. The work included; stripping of interior and removal of glass, removal of engine and gearbox, replacement floor pans, inner and outer sills, new fuel tank, new fuel lines, replacement headlining, refurbishment of the Fuchs alloys, a full respray in Porsche Schwarz 041 and a new interior featuring Renn Sport houndstooth sports seats and Coco mats. The invoice for this work totalled £28,000 and there are a host of parts invoices from Strasse, Roger Bray and Renn Sport also included in the history file with total spend exceeding £42,000. The car is currently fitted with a rebuilt original, period-correct (1967) 912 engine which was fitted by Strasse in 2013. The 'matching-numbers' engine block is included in the sale but will require a rebuild before it can be married to the car once again. Lovely, left-hand drive US-market car imported to the UK in 2009 Comprehensive restoration some years ago in the States and still stunning to this day Superbly finished in White over Velvet Green with a classic Westfalia interior Desirable 'Pop Top' with a 'Rock n' Roll' bed and front seat hammock! Complete with additional awning, electric hook up and USB connect Recent full mechanical overhaul and fresh MOT by 'Type-2 Detectives' Good history file including details from the USA and UK Starting in 1951, Volkswagen offered an officially sanctioned camper conversion for its Type 2 by Westfalia-Werke of Franz Knobel & Sohne in Rheda-Wiedenbruck, Germany. Interiors were panelled in birch plywood and standard equipment included screened jalousie windows, a laminated folding table, storage cabinets, an icebox and electrical hookups. Some models included a sink and pressure water system. A number of fold-out seat arrangements provided sleeping accommodation and optional equipment included a pop-up roof section, awnings and side tents, a chemical toilet, camping equipment, a small map table and even a child's crib in the driver's cab. This, comprehensively restored 1969 VW Westfalia Camper is finished in Velvet Green and White - a 'classic' colour combination evoking memories of years gone by. It was a US resident from new in 1969 until arriving on these shores in 2009 and just prior to import, was the subject of a comprehensive restoration, including bodywork, interior and engine and remains in stunning condition throughout to this day. In 2016, the present owner decided that the mechanical aspects of the camper could do with a refresh and with that in mind presented his pride and joy to the well-respected 'Type 2 Detectives' in Cambridge to work their magic. They carried out a complete mechanical overhaul, including an engine check and tune, full gearbox rebuild, brake overhaul, Bilstein shocks, replacement fuel lines and a complete underbody Waxoyl. Business commitments mean that the vehicle has only been used lightly recently but despite that, it has been regularly serviced and has just passed its MOT with flying colours. All accoutrements are in full working order including the fitted leisure battery, 16A coupler, USB connection and three-pin sockets. The passenger seat also has the addition of a heating element for the partner with a bad back ! Complete with 'pop-top' roof with double bed, rock-n-roll bed and even a front seat hammock! Also included is a desirable camping awning and solar charging panels to make life on the road that little bit easier. Within the history file there are some details of later work in the States from 2003 to 2009, when it arrived here, but no real documentation prior to that. Since arriving in the UK, there is a complete annual MOT trace with its most recent carried out on 27/03/2020 at 54,931 miles and service records covering 2009 to the present day. This genuine, early bay-window bus is in fabulous condition and strikes the perfect balance between 1960's camper-van cool, VW- enthusiast credibility and real-life modern drivability. It's fast enough but not too loud, long-legged and easy to drive, comfortable with good ride quality, and is ready-made fun for all the family. Left-hand drive, UK-registered Generation 2 SRT10. One of only 840 produced Finished in its original factory Steel Grey Metallic with Viper Stripes, and a smart two-tone interior 8-litre, V10 producing 450bhp and 465lbft of torque fed through a six-speed, Borg-Warner T-56 manual gearbox Fitted with an uprated stereo system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, Cat 1 alarm system, battery conditioner Only 15,700 miles supported by MOTs, its USA service records, a Carfax vehicle history report and the owner's file New rear tyres and a new battery within the last 1,000 miles. Two sets of keys and a fresh MOT prior to the sale Wonderfully politically incorrect, the Dodge Viper was launched in January 1992. A pure American muscle car, it was conceived by Bob Lutz, Tom Gale, Francois Castaing, and Carroll Shelby. Built around a tubular steel backbone chassis equipped with all-round double-wishbone independent suspension, vented disc brakes and power-assisted rack and pinion steering, it did without ABS or a traction control system. Extensively reworked by Lamborghini (another Chrysler subsidiary at the time), its 8-litre, V10 former truck engine gained a new aluminium block and cylinder heads. Early cars were quoted as developing some 400bhp and 465lbft of torque, although these numbers would rise over time (the 2000 car featured here produces just North of 450bhp) and the efforts of all these horses were corralled through a beefy six-speed Borg-Warner T-56 manual gearbox. Clad in lightweight resin transfer-moulded glass fibre body panels, the Targa-roofed RT/10 boasted a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 165mph. Only recently out of production, the Viper has long since attracted a cult following which will only continue to gather pace. This 2000, left-hand drive, UK-registered Dodge Viper Roadster 8-litre, SRT10 is a Generation 2 model and is one of only 840 produced. It's finished in its original factory colour, the evocatively named Steel Grey Metallic with Viper Stripes, and a smart two-tone interior. In addition to the convertible soft-top, there is a colour-coded hardtop (difficult to find now as they were a £6,000 option at the time) and rear exhaust outlets were originally specified. The cars equipment level is too long to list here but it includes an uprated stereo system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, a Cat 1 alarm system and a battery conditioner. It's supplied with its American Carfax statement showing that it left Los Angeles having covered only 7,571 miles with its two American owners. Upon arrival in the UK, it was looked after mainly by Falcon Engineering in the North East, where it was meticulously maintained including a full service, transmission service and new rear tyres (less than 1,000 miles ago) before being bought by our vendor in 2017 to add to his own collection. He has since used it little, but it has been serviced and checked over by his company maintenance team within the last eighteen months. Currently on SORN, it will come to the sale freshly valeted and with a new MOT. You may ask yourself if you really need 8-litres of V10, nearly 500 horsepower, tarmac-shredding lumps of torque, and only two seats, and realistically, you probably don't, but then again, they are going up in value and you're only young twice! An original 1600 Mexico correctly finished in Monza Blue with white stripes A combination of the Type 49 body-shell, the 1600cc Kent crossflow, and the 2000E gearbox Clearly restored to the highest standards. Full engine rebuild in 2015 (invoice in file) Bought by our vendor in 2016 and offered from his private collection A very fine example offered at a sensible guide. The Ford Escort Mexico was introduced in November 1970 and was so named because of Ford Motor Company's victory in the World Cup Rally which started in London on 19/04/1970 and finished some 16,000 miles later in Mexico. Originally Ford intended to use Escorts with the Twin Cam or BDA engine, but after some local reconnaissance, it was decided that high speeds and large power outputs were less important than reliability and ease of servicing, and therefore the 'Kent' pushrod engine was used in the Escort shell. It seems likely that Ford already had plans to produce a high-performance Escort to fit in the range between the 1300GT and the Twin Cam/RS1600, but their victory in Mexico provided an ideal platform to launch such a model. The engineers at the newly formed A.V.O (Advanced Vehicles Operations) quickly developed the 'Mexico', marrying the Type 49 bodyshell, as used in the Twin Cam and RS1600, with the 1600cc Kent 'crossflow' engine and 2000E gearbox. So, effectively, the Mexico was basically a re-engined Twin Cam/RS1600. The Mexico became AVO's most successful and numerous of the 'Rally Sport Escorts,' and had a number of advantages on the road, in that it had excellent performance, was easy to maintain, relatively easy to insure, and above all, it was great to drive, something which is still true today. Offered here is an original, UK-supplied 1600 Mexico correctly finished in Monza Blue with White stripes. Purchased by our vendor in 2016, it has remained in his private collection since but he is in the fortunate position of being able to shuffle his collection around every few years and has only used the little blue Ford occasionally. The car has clearly been fully restored to a very high standard and within the history file is an invoice for a full engine rebuild dating from 2015. Also in the file is a communication from the DVLA detailing the car's nine former owners. The Mk1 Escort Mexico remains high on most enthusiast's 'Wish List' and this is a very fine example offered at a sensible guide. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Joe Watts. 1983 Land Rover 3528 cc. Registration number A839 SKH. Chassis number unknown. Engine number unknown. Production of the model now known as the Defender began in 1983 as the Land Rover 110, a name which reflected the 110-inch length of the wheelbase. The Land Rover 90, with 93-inch wheelbase, and Land Rover 127, with 127-inch wheelbase, soon followed. Superficially there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Initially the conservative engineering department insisted that the Land Rover was also available with a part-time 4WD system familiar to derivatives produced since 1949. However, the part-time system failed to sell and was quickly dropped from the options list by 1984. While the engine and other body panels carried over from the Series III, mechanically the 90 and 110 were modernised, including: Coil springs, offering a more compliant ride and improved axle articulation, a permanent four-wheel-drive system derived from the Range Rover, featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential, a modernised interior and a taller one-piece windscreen. From 1984, wind-up windows were fitted (Series models and very early 110s had sliding panels). The low compression version of the 3.5-litre V8 Range Rover engine improved performance. It was initially available in the 110 with a Range Rover LT95 four-speed transmission with integral transfer case and vacuum operated differential lock, then later in conjunction with a high strength "Santana" five-speed transmission. SKH is believed to have been originally purchased in September 1983 by our vendors ex husbands father, before being purchased by Alistair Gartshore of Driffield in August 1988. We believe the ex husband purchased it in 2014 and had intended to restore it. He had purchased a new chassis from YRM of County Durham (stored in a garage since purchase) as well as a secondhand bulkhead. It has not moved since this time until transported to the saleroom. Buyers should be aware that Spicers do not have the paperwork for the vehicle although a copy of the front page is available, also there are no keys. It will be sold with the "new" chassis. Full title will pass with the purchase receipt and a copy of the court order for disposal by auction.

Lot 1004

1987 Westfield 7 SE, 1599 cc. Registration number Q 417 WJR. Chassis number 86 SE 026. Engine number RK01673. Founded in 1983, Westfield Sportscars began manufacturing the Westfield Eleven, a replica of the iconic Lotus Eleven produced in the 1950's and then the Seven as both factory built and kit versions inspired by Colin Chapman's immortal Lotus 7.Lo tus had sold the design rights of the original Lotus 7 to Caterham who, in the late '80s, took Westfield to court over copyright issues. This was settled out of court, Westfield changing a number of elements to the design, the earlier cars are now known as pre-litigation models. According to the Robinshaw & Bouckley Westfield book there are two 'generations' of Pre-lit Westfield Sevens. The first was an accurate replica of the early Lotus Seven, with all-alloy bodywork (except for GRP wings and nosecone), Triumph front uprights and Spridget or Ford engine/gearbox/axle. Total production 132. The SE had more GRP (all-in-one GRP rear bodywork and wings, for example) and all-Ford running gear. It is believed 605 Seven SE kits were sold from Spring '86 until production was brought to a premature halt in early 1988 as a result of the litigation with Caterham Cars.' This SE was built by Falklands Veteran Major Hector Chambers MBE (awarded in the New Years Honours List 1985), of the Royal Irish Rangers as rehabilitation project post the Falklands Conflict. With a chassis number of 26 this must be one of the earliest second generation examples built and uses a X Flow 1600 cc rebuilt engine. First registered on the road on the 11th of June 1987 he sold it to a Mr Morris of Scarborough in 1990 and then Gerald Hodgson in 2006. He used it sparingly, and fitted a stainless steel fuel tank, Lotus replica windscreen supports and new front discs, calipers and pads. Purchased in March 2017 at this saleroom when the mileage was just over 8,000 it has seen little use and our vendor has decided to part with it. Sold with the V5C, Caterham build booklet, a February 2020 MOT, various old MOT's and other paperwork together with a full tonneau cover.

Lot 1008

2003 Porsche Boxster S, 986, 3200cc. Registration number A20 HYP. Chassis number WPOZZZ98240640670. Engine number 670083. Companion models to Porsche's perennial 911 - 914, 924, 944, 928 - have all come and gone, but in 1997 a new car arrived that looks as though it might stay the course a little longer: the Boxster. The secret of the Boxter's success lies in the fact that, unlike previous attempts to extend the range, it bears a strong resemblance to the 911 and is recognisably a Porsche. First seen as a showcar at the Detroit Motor Show in 1993, the Boxster was designed in-house by Grant Larson and Stefan Stark, and took its inspiration from two main sources: the 356 Speedster and 550 Spyder of the 1950s. Mid-engined like the latter, rather than rear-engined like the 911, the two-seater Boxster is powered by a water-cooled version of Porsche's trademark 'boxer' flat-six motor, a feature that would later be applied to the 911. The Boxster debuted in 2.5-litre form with 204bhp on tap. Anti-lock brakes, electric hood, climate control, pop-up rear spoiler, twin air bags, leather interior and an alarm came as standard plus, of course, Porsche's legendary engineering excellence and superlative build quality. In 1999, the model's original 2.5-litre engine gave way to a 2.7 producing 217bhp. At the same time, the more focused Boxster S entered the fray, powered by a 3.2-litre flat six making 249bhp, sufficient for 0-62mph in 5.9sec, and with a six- speed manual gearbox or the existing five-speed Tiptronic. The addition of Motronic engine management and VarioCam (variable camshaft) technology in 2003 helped to raise the performance of the standard Boxster 2.7 to 225bhp and of the S to 256bhp. In addition, a minor facelift ushered in a glass rear window. These 2003/53-reg cars are considered the best. In 2004, with the replacement 987-series Boxster approaching, a 261bhp limited-run S-based version called the Anniversary was launched. HYP was first registered in November 2003 and according to the replacement service book it has had 12 stamps from either Porsche or Specialists until recently when it was serviced locally. These confirm its life of use in London 2004 - 2005, three stamps and a mileage of 38,971 added, it then began moving North to Cumbria and Tyneside until in February 2015 it was serviced in Scotland at 97,604 miles. It remained there before arriving in the East Riding with our vendor in May 2018 and the yearly MOT's have taken it up to the current 108,851 miles. As with all cars of this type it is the cataloguers opinion that one is better buying a car that has been used and regularly maintained than one laid up for long periods. When viewed for the catalogue it started with no issues apart from a slow drivers window and drove very well. Sold with the V5C and service booklet, it has recently had a new battery and alternator fitted.

Lot 1011

1998 Jaguar XK8 Coupe, 3996 cc. Registration number B4 JXK. Chassis number SAJJGAED3AR031241. Engine number CC9807161545.Living up to expectations can be a burden. Consider the handsome Geoff Lawson-penned XK8 that followed in the wheeltracks of such automotive icons as the XK120 and immortal E-type. Like the E-Type before it, the XK8 made its debut at the Geneva Salon - that of 1996 - and, from launch, was available in either Coupe or Convertible guise. Like its immediate predecessor, the XJS, the original XK8 was more of a Grand Tourer than an outright sports car. It also had the distinction of being the first Jaguar to be powered by an eight-cylinder engine. This then, was a cat with strong DNA but also its own distinctive endearing personality. At the time of the newcomer's unveiling, Jaguar Cars was owned by Ford, as was Aston Martin, and it made sound economic sense for the XK8 and similarly targeted DB7 to share the same platform; which itself was derived from that of the outgoing XJS. The biggest of many differences between new and old, was the adoption of Jaguar's second generation independent rear suspension system, previously found on the XJ40 Saloon. Prior to 2003, power came from either a normally aspirated (XK8) or supercharged (XKR) 4.0-litre version of the company's DOHC V8 AJ26 engine. The all-aluminium 32-valve unit displaced 4.0 litres and produced 281bhp, an output good enough for a top speed of 156mph. Power was transmitted via a ZF five-speed automatic gearbox to the limited-slip differential, while traction control was standard.JXK was first registered on the 8th September 1998 having been sold by Jaguar Lancaster of Sevenoaks in Meteorite Silver with Charcoal leather interior with the registration number of S935 RKJ. In January 2000 they sold it to Dr Jackson for £42,750 with a mileage of 7,650, by September 2004 it was with Mr Haley of London and the service that month was at 47,682 miles. Our vendor purchased it in August 2006 with a mileage of 57,000 miles and by now it wore the cherished number it now has. Little used these days, the mileage has only risen to some 60,000 miles, the wheels were powder coated in 2018, last serviced in the same year with a suspension overall at the cost of nearly £1,000. A new battery has just been fitted and a new MOT issued for this auction.Sold with the V5C, MOT, large history folder with full service history and two keys.

1958 Excelsior Consort, 98cc. Registration number 637 UYK (non transferrable). Frame number SAC 255. Engine number 605B 5523. Excelsior's Consort first appeared in 1953 as the F4, with Villiers 4F engine and two-speed gearbox, changing to the 6F unit for 1956 when a plunger-suspended version joined the range. The Consorts continued in production until the end of 1957 when they were replaced by the new Consort CA8, a more up-to-date design featuring a telescopic front fork and swinging-arm frame. A year-or-so later a rigid-framed (F4F) version was reintroduced and the two Consorts continued until the rigid model was dropped in 1963, to be followed a year later by the swinging-arm type. UYK is a swinging arm version and having been off the road was registered with DVLA in 1986. Having undergone a full restoration it has a wonderful patina now. Owned by Michael Ralph of Birmingham from January 2017 our vendor bought it in July 2018. Unused since its acquisition our vendor has decided sell his collection due to his advancing years, it should only require gentle recommissioning. Sold with the V5C and a photocopy of the engine manual.

1965 (see text) BSA A10, Golden Flash Project, 650cc. Registration number FKE 93C. Frame number GA7 12001. Engine number DA10 12447 (see text). Launched in 1949, the BSA A10 was a development of the A7 500cc and was needed to compete with the Triumph Speed Twin, it was designed by Bert Hopwood (who had previously worked at Triumph and Norton). Initially it was available with a rigid frame but the rear plunger was a more popular choice, especially amongst the sidecar buyers. It had hinged rear mudguard and a semi unit gearbox mated to the parallel twin engine until 1954 when a swinging arm rear was introduced along with separate gearbox and engine. Initially offered in black and chrome to the UK market a new gold colour was introduced and became very popular and led to the name Golden Flash, some 80% of all units were made for export which meant that there were long waiting lists for UK buyers, the Golden Flash remained a popular model in the range until 1963. This example was purchased by our vendors father in September 2018 from Moto Classics as a project and he had nearly finished it when he passed away. The engine was fully rebuilt with replacement crankcases, (please note the V5C states the engine number to be D1740) crankshaft and conrods, new clutch, Super Rocket camshaft, rear wheel spindle. The frame was painted, much stainless steel was used throughout. Now in need of final assembly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves as to the completeness of this project. Sold with the V5C, (please note it states the date of registration to be November 1965 but both the frame and engine numbers are from 1961).

Lot 1043

1979 Honda CB400N Super Dream cafe racer, 396 cc. Registration number GNA 603V. Frame number CB400N 2000185. Engine number CB400NE 2000196. The Honda CB250N and CB400N Super Dream were produced from 1978 to 1986, they were the successor to the short lived Dream model. It had a series of revisions including a six-speed gearbox and what Honda termed as European styling which resembled the CB750F and CB900F. The Super Dream was fitted with a four stroke, air-cooled, twin-cylinder engine. It had three valves per cylinder, two inlet and one exhaust, operated by a chain-driven overhead camshaft. Ignition was provided by capacitor discharge ignition with a 360° crank layout similar to many traditional British parallel twins, but with two balance shafts to reduce unwanted vibrations. Fuelling was provided by twin Keihin carburettors. The CB400N was very similar to the 250N variant, however, it differed with its larger engine capacity, twin front brake discs and a halogen front head light. The front instrument had different markings for the rev counter and speed to reflect the lower maximum engine speed and higher top speed of the 400N. The CB400N had several revisions during its production run. The launch model CB400N (1979-1980), CB400NA (1980-1981), CB400NB (1981-1983), CB400NC (1982-1985) and CB400ND (1983-1986). GNA was first registered on the 18th September 1979 and by November 2013 it was with William Wilkinson of West Lothian by which time the mileage was 21,258 miles. Over the next two years he restored and converted it to a cafe racer with a CRK kit at the cost of some £1,150 and reset the speedo so when MOT'd in 2015 it had covered only 6 miles. One presumes a full engine refresh was undertaken during this period as there are several receipts from David Silver. In April 2017 our vendor bought it with a mileage of 24 miles. He has hardly used it do to other commitments. Sold with the V5C, MOT history from 2013, CRK instruction book and various receipts.

Lot 49

c. 1958 BSA A7 Shooting Star Project, 495cc. Registration number (no paperwork). Frame number FA7 1066. Engine number CA7 SS 8793 HC. BSA's first production parallel twin, the A7 was extensively revised for 1951 along the lines of the newly introduced Bert Hopwood-designed A10 650 and continued fundamentally unchanged until 1954, when the introduction of a new duplex frame for the BSA twins range meant that the original bolted-up gearbox had to go. Otherwise the engine remained much as before, though the new sports 500 - the A7 Shooting Star - featured an alloy cylinder head and detachable inlet manifold. With 32bhp on tap, the sporting A7SS was good for a top speed in excess of 90mph. Production ceased with the introduction of the unitary construction A50 in 1962. This project has been started before our vendors father passed away and prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves as to its completeness.
