Lot 654

From long-term ownership, this Standard Steel Cloud I appears to have been particularly well looked after.Rolls-Royce broke from tradition when it introduced its Silver Cloud. Instead of building incomplete cars and delivering chassis to custom coachbuilders, the Silver Cloud (and corporate sibling Bentley S1) was a complete car clothed in a factory-built body. This allowed Rolls to produce the new car in far greater numbers and with a higher margin than previously and helped set the stage for future development.Typifying the growing economic confidence of the mid 1950s, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud was larger, faster, and more boldly styled than its Silver Dawn predecessor. Introduced in 1955, there was nothing average about its standard steel saloon bodywork. The Silver Cloud was beautifully proportioned, benefitting from a modified J. P. Blatchley razor edge design, and it was a huge hit.A masterclass in formal elegance, it was underpinned by a new cruciform-braced box-section chassis equipped with independent coil-sprung front suspension, a live rear axle, and servo-assisted four-wheel drum brakes. Powered by a twin SU carburettor fed, 4,887cc straight-six engine allied to standard-fit 4-speed automatic gearbox (GM’s Hydra-Matic transmission was standard from 1956), the Cloud could waft along at over 100mph. Critics of the Cloud's later variants noted that the new 6.75 V8 was neither smooth nor quiet compared to the Cloud I's 4.9-litre straight-six.In addition, they had adjustable shock absorbers operated by a lever on the steering column, and the brakes got a second master cylinder in 1956. Chassis and suspension lubrication was facilitated by a foot-operated total-loss Luvax-Bijur system, with an oil tank on the firewall.Once affectionately described as 'a veritable country club on wheels', the model certainly boasted an inviting cabin. Trimmed with the finest hides, carpets, and wood veneers, it promised relaxation and contentment. The car presented here is a 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud l which has had a cherished history, in more recent times, as part of a wedding car fleet. Regularly maintained and being a model of reliability, it is now offered for sale. VNP 777 is further understood to have spent some time in America, again, being dutifully cared-for. Indeed, our vendor has over £20,000 worth of receipts relating to its maintenance and upkeep. It has recently benefitted from an engine rebuild and is said to be running beautifully.SpecificationMake: ROLLS ROYCEModel: SILVER CLOUD 1Year: 1958Chassis Number: SHF133Registration Number: VNP 777Transmission: AutomaticEngine Number: SF66 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 94215 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

One of the 90 examples finished by Ford in the more refined road car specification and just 7,800 miles from new.Ask any rally fan to name their favourite era and chances are that the wild Group B years will be at the top of most people’s list. It was a time of uncompromising and completely unhinged machinery, with designers and engineers really pushing the edge of the envelope when it came to interpreting the rules and endowing these four-wheel-drive turbocharged monsters with the maximum possible performance. Perhaps the wildest of them all was Ford’s RS200 and where the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16 and even the Lancia Delta S4 were very obviously derived from their more mundane production cousins, Ford took a different route, designing and building a Group B car that looked – and drove – like no other Ford before or since.Ford had, of course, been part of the rallying furniture ever since the rear-drive Escort made its debut, but as the WRC entered the Group B era, it found itself without a machine to compete at this level. Unusually for Ford, the solution proved elusive and, with the Escort RS1700T failing miserably, they were forced to return to the drawing board and start all over again. The result was the RS200, however, they had now become ‘late starters' and were effectively three years behind. The car was styled by Ghia and, unusually, the bodywork for the majority of cars was entrusted to Reliant of Shenstone, a company who knew a fair bit about building fibreglass cars. The chassis engineering was looked after by F1 gurus Tony Southgate and John Wheeler. Naturally, four-wheel drive was essential and it was built around a space-frame chassis, Kevlar bodywork, and a potent mid-mounted engine courtesy of well-proven race engine builder Brian Hart. Add to this an innovative front-mounted gearbox for better weight distribution and balance, plus a variable torque-split differential from Ferguson, and you have a serious rally car. The RS200’s mid-mounted engine was a development of the RS1700T’s, but capacity was increased to 1803cc with a bore and stroke of 86.0 and 77.62mm respectively. It featured Ford/Bosch injection, and with an 8.2:1 compression ratio allied with a Garrett turbocharger in road-going trim it developed 246bhp at 6500-7000rpm and a maximum torque output of 215lb ft at 4000-5000rpm. The rally cars had significantly more to play with – 444bhp at a screaming 8000rpm and 361lb ft at 5500rpm.It looked like Ford finally had the package to win and things were looking promising after Kalle Grundell came home third in the Swedish Rally of 1986, however, the fickle finger of fate was soon to be pointed at Group B. After a series of tragedies with both drivers and spectators being killed, it became obvious that 600bhp, lightweight rally cars being threaded at three-figure speeds through banks of standing spectators was not the way forward and the decision was taken by the FIA to pull the plug on Group B at the end of the ‘86 season. As a result, after just one year in competition, it was all over for the RS200 so it never got to show off its full potential, however, it did prove that it had enormous promise with many of the cars being spectacularly successful in Rallycross particularly in the hands of Norwegian Martin Schanche.FIA Homologation Rules for Group B required the construction of at least 200 road-legal vehicles, however, the demise of Group B meant that only 144 were completed. Of these, 20 were further developed and sold as the RS200 Evolution with a 2.1-litre power unit, a number were disassembled for spares, and records indicate that 90 were converted to road cars with improved build quality and a number of creature comforts. In the true tradition of RS Fords, Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this RS200 as one of the 90 cars Ford returned to the more refined road specification. Well documented, it was supplied by Frews of Perth, one of the nine Rallye Sport Dealers in Scotland, to Mr Brian Holmes in Derbyshire who was the former Managing Director of Chesterfield-based Auto Windscreens, which probably explains why it comes with a new boxed spare windscreen. The RS joined his Collection which included an RS500, also supplied by Frews. It was fitted with the 300bhp upgrade, a multi-light grille lamp-pod, full competition Sabelt harnesses and finished in Ford Motorsport’s iconic blue and white livery. The RS200 remained with the Holmes family until 2010 and had still only covered around a 1,000 miles when it was entrusted to RS200 expert Geoff Page for a total engine refresh. The work is fully documented in the history file. It revisited GPR again in October 2012 for a throttle pot and full spanner check before being exported to a collector in Japan. He decided to reduce his collection and it returned to the UK last month with an indicated mileage of 7,794. It's supplied with the original alloys, spare screen, light-pod cover, original exhaust and its factory owner's manual.Group B rally cars with the cachet of the RS200 seldom come to market and, with its solid timeline and lovely condition, this is a super example and we welcome and encourage your close inspection. If this lot remains in the UK it will be subject to a reduced rate of import duty of 5% on the hammer price.  SpecificationMake: FORDModel: RS 200Year: 1988Chassis Number: SFACXXBJ2CGL00118Registration Number: F666 MSLTransmission: ManualEngine Number: GL00118 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: RedClick here for more details and images

Always a Q-car, the 5-Series Touring here is the desirable M-Sport twin-scroll turbo model; low mileage and low owners, a hugely capable allrounder. The car that did more than any other to make the idea of a performance diesel acceptable: the BMW 535d.  Indeed, it was the first ever diesel car to be welcomed onto the Top Gear test track! The fifth-generation of BMW’s 5-Series (E60 as a saloon or E61 as an estate or ‘Touring’) was produced from 2003 to 2010 and is ageing like fine wine. Even though Chris Bangles’ design was at first widely critiqued, the E60/E61 was well accepted and still looks good for its age.The E60 generation introduced various electronic features to the 5-Series, including iDrive, head-up display, active cruise control, active steering and voice control. The E60 also was the first 5-Series available with a turbocharged petrol engine, a 6-speed automatic transmission and regenerative braking. New safety features (some as options) for the E60 included adaptive headlights, night vision, active headrests, Lane Departure Warning, and high intensity emergency brake lights. In 2007, there came a model face-lift and the introduction BMW’s fuel-saving Efficient Dynamics programme (that means regenerative braking, a gearshift indicator and active aerodynamics – meaning flaps over the air intakes don’t open when the engine is cold).Today, the 535d has something of a reputation - with its twin-turbo version of the 3.0-litre M57 straight-six engine, allied to a 6-speed SMG-ll gearbox, there is 282bhp and 428lb ft of torque to enjoy. Impressive figures even by today’s standards. The car presented here is a 2010 BMW (E61) 535d Touring M Sport which has an enviable service history to back up its modest 66,227 miles in the hands of just two previous owners. Our vendor has recently entrusted the car to the very capable Darragh Doyle, an ex-F1 Mechanic, and BMW guru of ‘Everything M3s’ in Banbury. In August 2022, some £12,000 was spent to ensure this Touring is now in the best possible health. This work included a full engine, gearbox, and differential service (the latter with the fitment of a Wavetrac ATB spool), a custom remap, swirl flap and EGR cooler delete kits, a new water pump and thermostat, new turbo vacuum lines, new Bosch glow plugs, new belts/filters/fluids, a new crankshaft damper pulley, rear suspension air bags replacement and new BMW front brake pads. With a complete service history from new, low ownership and a great specification, this highly capable ground-breaking estate, is the epitome of a Q-car – a discrete appearance, with go anywhere, do anything abilities, allied to a turn of pace and power to rival much more obvious machinery – all at a very tempting guide price.(Please note that the registration 'T88 CCL' will not come with the car, it will revert back to 'YE59 VFD'.)SpecificationMake: BMWModel: 535DYear: 2010Chassis Number: WBAPX92030CR25802Registration Number: YE59 VFDTransmission: Automatic Engine Number: 25617319 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 66145 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 745

One of just 369 right-hand drive Silver Seraphs produced and a member of the Edwards Collection since 2005.This Collection is offered by the family of the late J. Anthony Edwards whose passion for Rolls-Royce and Bentley motorcars spanned decades. With business success in his thirties, Tony as he was universally known, bought a Bentley S1 that started his enthusiasm that led to owning virtually every subsequent model of Rolls and Bentley since. Tony even passed his advanced driving test in a 1996 Bentley Brooklands at the age of 75! At the age of 80 his passion was still undiminished when he exchanged a Phantom Coupé for a new Wraith. The cars that Tony loved to drive remained in the collection, some retained by the family, and these four cars are a testament to his diligent maintenance, each on the button, for the next custodian to enjoy as he did. When the Silver Seraph was launched in 1998, the most significant break with tradition was, of course, the adoption of BMW engines, the Seraph's power unit being the 5.3-litre, 60-degree V12 of the range-topping 750i, its engine management system appropriately reconfigured for the heavier Rolls-Royce. The ZF 5-speed automatic gearbox is likewise sourced from the 750i, and once again its electronics, which control shift points, are re-programmed to suit the different application. Whilst many flag-waving traditionalists were outraged, the buyers did not complain for the new Rolls-Royce offered the same level of build quality but with new, and reliable electronics and progressive power delivery from the silky smooth V12 engine. Bearing a strong resemblance to Bentley’s Arnage, which were mass produced by comparison, the Silver Seraph ceased production in 2002 with just 369 cars built in right-hand drive.Supplied new to the UK on 21st May 2001, the silver paintwork compliments the cream leather and rich Burr Walnut veneers nicely. With some 20,000 miles on the car it was bought by Tony on 24th March 2003 and he enjoyed driving it, as evidenced by the current mileage of 48,425 miles. Presented to auction with service records, V5C and an advisory free MOT valid until 18th October 2023. We conclude that the Silver Seraph remains popular in the collector car market as do all limited production motorcars and it retains the historic link with the Silver Shadow that saved Rolls-Royce back in the 1960s, as a Rolls that is owner-driver focused whilst boasting rear passenger comforts unparalleled by its contemporaries.SpecificationMake: ROLLS ROYCEModel: SILVER SERAPHYear: 2001Chassis Number: SCALA62E41CH06324Registration Number: Y504 GFMTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: 61132466799963 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 48422 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Cream LeatherClick here for more details and images

One of the lowest mileage Capris we have ever offered - only 3,617 miles.Towards the end of its life, the Ford Capri enjoyed an upswing in interest as more buyers realised that perhaps a front-wheel hot hatch simply wasn't for them and a V6-engined, rear-wheel drive sporting hatchback might very well do the job. Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering group was entrusted with developing the Capri 2.8 Injection that made its debut at the 1981 Geneva Motor Show. Based at the Research and Engineering centre in Essex, SVE decided to adopt the 2.8-litre V6 with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection - the first regular model since the RS2600 to use fuel injection - plus lowered suspension, thicker anti-roll bars, gas-filled shock absorbers and wide-rim alloy wheels fitted with Goodyear's 205/60VR NCT tyres. The specification also included a 5-speed gearbox, a limited-slip differential (1984 onwards) and ventilated disc brakes for the front wheels. All this translates into a car that goes with 'wonderful eagerness', the Autocar test team enthused after rocketing from 0-60mph in just 7.9 seconds. The Capri 2.8 Injection breathed new life into the range and kept the car in production two to three years longer than Ford had planned. In 1984, the 2.8 injection model was the subject of a substantial upgrade and was known as the Capri Injection Special. This development used Recaro half-leather seats and included a limited-slip differential. Externally the car could easily be distinguished by the 7-spoke RS wheels and its colour-coded grille and headlamp surround. Packed with performance and character, it paved the way for the superb Capri 280.The 1987 model offered here is a truly stunning example displaying only 3,617 miles from new, with just one former keeper. It has formed part of a private collection for most of its days and is accompanied by an extensive history file, including a Letter of Provenance from its former keeper who acquired the car in 2003.Astonishing inside and out, this gleaming Capri is as close as one might find to a new car in a Ford dealership showroom in the 1980s. Incredibly it still retains that intoxicating 'new car smell' of leather and polish and paint, pure nostalgia. As lovely underneath as it is above, we understand that the car has ‘never been out in the rain’ and has been dry stored for its whole life. Nothing about the car suggests otherwise. With low mileage examples of the Capri continuing to set new standards, we look forward to seeing just how well this unrepeatable car performs at auction.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: CAPRIYear: 1987Chassis Number: WF0CXXGAECGA91511Registration Number: E435 DPHTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 3617 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Cloth and LeatherClick here for more details and images

Lot 753

The unashamedly driver-focused 968 Club Sport superbly presented in Speed Yellow. The standard 968 was a great all-round sports car, but as a last 'hurrah' to this enduring lineage Porsche wanted to create a car tailored more for the pure enthusiast and, in particular, one that would excel in competition. In late 1992, the 968 'Club Sport' was introduced and, whilst it was mechanically identical to the standard 968 and shared the same 3.0-litre engine (producing 225lb-ft of torque and 240bhp) and 6-speed gearbox (situated at the rear axle, which helped give the car it's excellent weight distribution), it differed in a number of important ways. This track-focused run-out model adopted the philosophy of 'less is more' by removing all luxury-related equipment from the basic build specification. With the no-frills approach, less weight and clever suspension, Porsche could now focus media attention on the Club Sport's fast road and track abilities. In total, just 1,923 CS examples were produced worldwide and it's now rightly regarded as one of the best driving Porsche cars ever madeFinished in Speed Yellow this exquisite Club Sport with its black interior stands out from the crowd. Designed for Porsche enthusiasts seeking track-inspired performance, this is one such example that certainly delivers. Cosmetically refinished in 2017 with new sills and front wings, the overall condition is now outstanding and beautifully detailed throughout, complemented by its black ‘Club Sport’ decals and 17inch Cup Alloys.Forming part of a large Porsche collection in recent years, the car is accompanied by its original tool roll and mandatory compressor, a comprehensive and detailed service history including the document wallet with service and handbooks and a photographic record of the body refurbishment. With Club Sports being on every Porsche collectors wish list, this is one example that is most certainly worthy of your very serious consideration.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 968Year: 1994Chassis Number: WPOZZZ96ZSS815104Registration Number: M447 VJLTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black / YellowClick here for more details and images

Lot 739

One owner and just 62,000 miles from new. Emerging from a few years in storage, a fabulous example.Based on lessons learned with the S1, the S2 Escort RS Turbo (produced between 1986-1990) was more suited to daily use, whereas the earlier car was a bit of a homologation special. Many new features were adopted for the Series 2 including utilising the 1600cc fuel-injected CVH engine taken from the S1 Turbo but now fitted with the Garret T3 turbo (water-cooled, unlike the S1), revised engine management settings, lower overall gearing, an improved gearbox and limited-slip differential, a larger clutch and improved KE-Jetronic unit and inter-cooler. Suspension and chassis changes included stiffer front and rear springs, uprated anti-roll bars, mechanical ABS and larger brakes. The S2 produced an impressive 132bhp at 5750rpm, with maximum torque of 133lb/ft produced at 2750rpm, offering ample performance with a top speed of 125mph and a 0-60mph time of 8.3 seconds. Although on paper these figures were a tad down on the Series 1, the new car was considerably easier to drive quickly and, effectively, was a faster car.Having spent recent years in storage due to our vendors late father’s health meaning he wasn’t able to drive it, the car has been very nicely looked after and cared for in a temperature-controlled environment. This kind of treatment is now common for these cars, however, this car being the late vendors pride and joy means it was always treated with a level of respect that the average Fast Ford is not accustomed to.Purchased new by its only ever custodian in 1985 and supplied by Hendy Lennox, this early example presents well in the traditional S1 RS Turbo colour scheme of Diamond White over a grey Recaro interior. Whilst it remains largely original, a few minor upgrades were made including new coolant pipework due to the original rubbers perishing and a stainless steel backbox. According to our vendor there is a selection of various original parts from the car that remain in the boot which should originality be paramount. Routinely serviced and looked after, the history on the car is good, but as is customary for cars going into long-term storage, there are some expected gaps and patches where it hasn’t moved or been MOT’d. Running and driving nicely, but with a few small imperfections as is to be expected with a car of this era, it can be used and enjoyed exactly as is or fully sorted and tidied up to a fabulous condition without too much stress. With Sierras, Escorts and now the inevitable Focus all seeing substantial increases in value in recent years, the market for Performance Fords from this period never seems to cool down, particularly from single ownership. This lovely example would be equally at home within any collection of nostalgic 80s 'rocket-ships' or being driven and enjoyed as all cars should be.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: ESCORTYear: 1985Chassis Number: WF0BXXGCABFU49547Registration Number: B555 WOTTransmission: ManualEngine Number: FU49547Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 74000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Grey ClothClick here for more details and images

Lot 715

Fabulous, road/race Series I, faithfully built as a 'Semi-lightweight' with genuine motorsport celebrity provenance.Offered here is a 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series I 4.2 Roadster with a fascinating provenance. Selected as a straight, corrosion-free bodyshell, 1E11338 was entrusted to respected XK and E-Type specialist, the late Jeremy Broad, to be converted into semi-lightweight specification ready for competition use. Jeremy Broad’s competition workshop was situated not far from Browns Lane and Broad followed the specification of the two special-order, semi-lightweight cars constructed by Jaguar Works in 1964. Impressed by the success of the 12 full-blown Competition Lightweights built to compete with Ferrari and Aston Martin in International GT competition, two, presumably very persuasive, customers managed to talk the factory into building something very similar for them, a left-hand drive Fixed Head Coupé for a prominent French collector and a Roadster for Sir Robert Ropner (4th Baronet) in County Durham. Interestingly, it's believed that 1E11338 wears the original bonnet from the Ropner car, presumably removed when the car was restored in an age when panel gaps mattered more than originality.Purchased in 1991 by Manx Motor Racing Club Director, Graham Warwick, and registered in the Isle of Man as 1E MN, Chassis 1E11338 was entered into the 1991 Mountain Challenge, a prestigious event organised to commemorate Britain’s greatest road race the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy and the 30th Anniversary of the E-Type, to be piloted by Sir Stirling Moss. Sir Stirling was full of praise for the car, comparing his laps of the TT circuit in the E-Type with his races in earlier years on the Island’s British Empire Trophy course, saying “The car was pretty good, but it needs to be damped down a little, made more taught if we were going to try really hard!  It handled nicely, behaved quite well, and was comfortable”. As a result of Sir Stirling's observations, 1E11338 was then further developed by the legendary Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering in conjunction with marque specialists, Pearson’s Engineering, probably the world’s most famous preparers of C, D and E-Type Jaguars. Graham then went on to win the Manx Classic sports car event outright in this car.A decade after Sir Stirling’s time with 1E11338, the car was invited to Donington Park to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the E-Type, this time to be steered by Le Mans and British/World Touring Car star, Win Percy, who reportedly left his D-Type in order to drive the Semi-lightweight. 1E11338 also appeared nationally and internationally including an outing at Jarama in Spain. The 4.2-litre engine is currently in fast-road tune, with a Sigma head, performance cams and pistons, balanced crank, lightweight flywheel, hi-torque starter, triple Webers, Power-Lock LSD, adjustable shocks, Safety Devices roll-bar, uprated springs, lowered suspension, vented boot, alloy radiator and header tank, internal rear brake access panels, FIA-type foam-filled tank with alloy case and a five-speed gearbox (Jaguar’s later Le Mans E-Type lightweights had 5-speeed boxes in the 60s).This unrepeatable E-Type has recently been subject to a thorough mechanical overhaul and sympathetic restoration work which included fresh paint whilst thoughtfully preserving the original 1991 Manx Mountain Challenge decals. The history file includes a wealth of evidence supporting the fascinating provenance including an entry in the Peter Griffiths book ‘E-Type Factory and Private Competition Cars’. More recently, it has been invited to attend a number of prestigious events including the E-Type's 60th Anniversary celebrations and was chosen by the Schwetzingen Palace International Concours 2021 to feature in a series of paintings by artist Mauricio Franco to publicise the event. Further documentation within the history file includes; FIVA identity card issued in 2019, expired FIA papers issued 1998, signed images and correspondence with Win Percy, 1991 Manx Mountain Challenge official programme, correspondence between Graham Warwick and Jeremy Broad, a copy of Classic Jaguar magazine with a full feature titled ‘Perfect Pedigree’, Invitations to have the E-Type feature at Amelia Island Concours d’ Elegance, a copy of 1991 Jaguar drivers magazine with feature, many photos and clippings, race timing paperwork, old registration documents and copies and a wealth of invoices for recent attention. The car is absolutely on the button, performs well and will continue to turn heads outside the pub, at any classic car event or sat in Parc Ferme after a racing event and, despite its provenance and focused appearance, is remarkably well behaved on the road and docile in traffic.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1965Chassis Number: 1E11338Registration Number: EOL 584CTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 13000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: RedClick here for more details and images

At the time, the 599 represented the peak of modern Ferrari design, the GTB’s coachwork uniquely combining understatement and aggression. A civilised supercar for the discerning enthusiast. The Ferrari 599 succeeded its predecessor, the 575, in the summer of 2006 and brought the front-engined V12 Grand Tourer into the modern age. Whereas the 550 and 575, even at their introduction, always felt like modern classics, the 599 was every inch a new-age Ferrari. The all-aluminium chassis, F1 SuperFast gearbox, F1-Trac stability and traction control, magnetic semi-active dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes, all wrapped in aggressive, aero-optimised bodywork with minimal overhangs and maximum presence was a mission statement. Top billing, though, went to the engine - a lightly modified version of the Enzo's 6-litre V12 with a mighty 611bhp at 7600rpm, endowing Ferrari's new series-production flagship with truly sensational performance with 0-62 in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 205mph. Of the 3,500 Ferrari 599 GTB F1 Fiorano produced globally, the United Kingdom’s share, as is the norm with right-hand drive Ferraris, amounted to under 10% of the total production.Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive 599 GTB finished in classic colours with Rosso paint, Nero leather carbon-backed sports seats and black carpets. First registered in October 2007, today the odometer indicates just 30,831 miles at the time of cataloguing. The extensive specification includes ceramic brakes with matching red calipers, Scuderia wing shields, front and rear parking sensors and a set of 20inch 599 GTO alloy wheels to complete the look. This striking Ferrari is presented to auction in exceptional condition, the Rosso paintwork retains a deep gloss and has an even finish across the bodywork and the GTO wheels sparkle with the bright red calipers peeking through the alloy spokes. Inside, the cabin feels clean and fresh showing only minimal wear and all electronic features appear to function correctly. On test the V12 fired into life on-the-button and our vendor informs us that on the road the 599 performs well. The history file contains the original Ferrari book pack with the service book stamped up-to-date, regularly maintained correctly only by Ferrari main agents, and showing the most recent service in November 2021. Also within the file are supporting invoices and old MOT Certificates with the most recent MOT valid until May 2023.Please note - the private number illustrated (V12 GMA) will not form part of the sale, a new V5C will follow upon successful transfer of ownership.SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 599Year: 2007Chassis Number: ZFFFD60C000156926Registration Number: V12 GMATransmission: F1Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 30522 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

A superbly restored, matching numbers example of arguably the first 'Fast Ford' that was to inspire Carol Shelby's GT350.Some say that the Ford Mustang created its own industry sector by offering an affordable sports car for the daily commute, performance to raise a smile when in the mood and enough space for the family when required. That may well have been the case, however, it mattered not as the Mustang became a worldwide success story. The second of two models, the Coupe was marketed as the hardtop version of the convertible, and is today known as the 'Notchback'. The sportier-looking Fastback Coupe was launched in early 1965, clearly defining the Mustang range and was the genesis for the line of performance Mustangs that followed. An early example of those hot (well warm) Mustangs from the production line was the 289 High Performance (Hi-Po) which was later to form the basis for Carroll Shelby's legendary GT350.Records show that just 466 1965 K-Code cars were built at Ford's Dearborn factory, many destined for Shelby's Los Angeles workshops. The example offered here is a February 19th 1965 registered Ford Mustang K-code Hi-Po refinished to the most exacting standards. It's possibly the finest early correct example available worldwide and all tuned Mustangs, even today, can trace their DNA back to this car. Purchased by our UK vendor three years ago in the United States, the restoration was carried out by the renowned Mustang expert and MCA judge, Denis Frances, of Danville Virginia. It was subject to a bare-metal, rotisserie restoration with the unusual brief to present the car exactly as it would have left the factory complete with factory overspray detail and crayon marks. Finished in Caspian Blue and with a black interior and Carlite factory tinted glass, it is totally faithful to the original specification and retains its original door plate. Its original V8 289 Hi-Po engine was rebuilt at the same time as the restoration at a cost of $7,000 by a top US engine builder. The 4-speed. "top-loader' manual gearbox was also rebuilt at the time and the full specification includes black Decor seats, 9-inch differential, front discs with dual master cylinder, date-correct seat belts, correct steel wheels and reproduced Arvinode exhausts. This Mustang really is as good as it gets, and with just 300 miles since the restoration it caught the eye of our vendor on a plinth at the Silverstone Auctions NEC Classic Motor Show in 2014. In more recent years, it has been rightly displayed on the 'Pride of Ownership' stand and the vendor has covered some 1,200 miles in the car since. Our vendor has subsequently added a spare wheel with cover, fitted a period correct radio with modern electrics, prop-shaft seals and a passenger side window regulator, with the works carried out by noted specialist Bill Shepherd Mustang at a cost of £2,358.Presented to auction with a history file that includes recent receipts, V5C, owners manuals, a book entitled 'The 289 Mustang High Performance Mustang Story'  and an odometer reading of 20,987 miles at the time of cataloguing.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: MUSTANGYear: 1965Chassis Number: 5F09K640857Registration Number: FNA 392CTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 640857 Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 20987 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Rarely do 964 Turbos come to the open market, especially with relatively low mileage and in such remarkable condition.Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 3.3-litre 964 Turbo which currently displays less than 47,000 miles. Supplied new by AFN Porsche in Chiswick and first registered in May 1993, finished in gleaming Grand Prix White with a classic grey leather interior and optioned with a sunshine roof, sports leather seats and a top-tinted windscreen.Today, this Turbo presents in outstanding order and has benefitted from some extensive attention over recent years including a thorough underside restoration carried out by a specialist Porsche technician. This detailed overhaul is fully documented with stage-by-stage photographic evidence along with a wealth of recent invoices. The images display many major mechanical components being removed before being renewed or refinished correctly prior to careful reassembly and as such the underside of this example presents as well as the exterior. The relatively low mileage is supported by a history file including the original service book stamped by Porsche Service Centres or regarded Porsche specialists. Most recent major maintenance includes an engine-out service with tappets checked and adjusted, new belts, gearbox oil, A/C overhaul, steering-rack overhaul and four-wheel alignment in April 2021 at 43,930 miles and subsequently an oil service with professional wheel refurbishment in February 2022 at 45,253 miles. The wheels are the correct original genuine split-rim Porsche items and not aftermarket replicas. It's supplied with an excellent history file and has a full, clean MOT to September 2023.The previous owner really cared for this Turbo and invested a great deal of time, money and energy to have it looking and performing as well as it does today. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a highly coveted yet totally usable example of the classic 964 Turbo finished in arguably one of the best period colour schemes available and will appeal to 911 collectors and enthusiastic drivers alike.  SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 1993Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ96ZNS470446Registration Number: K32 SLNTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 46300 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images

A stylish example of Aston's elegant DB7 in a lovely colour combination that has covered just over 18,000 miles.Introduced to an astonished public in 1993, the handsome new DB7 was Aston Martin's first six-cylinder model since production of the DBS had finished in 1971. Styled by Ian Callum, its lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen if you looked carefully. Arguably, one of the most attractive looking cars ever produced by Aston Martin, the '7' was more approachable than the leviathans that had immediately preceded it. Well received, it attracted new customers worldwide, with the traditional layout of the curvaceous two door coupé body, robust six-cylinder engine and a 'proper' interior. Power was supplied by an all-alloy, double overhead camshaft, supercharged, 24-valve, in-line six-cylinder engine which produced 335bhp at 5,750rpm. In the same way that the beautiful little Sixties' Lotus Elan morphed, over the years, into the be-winged Esprit Turbo, the DB7 was the first in the line of modern Astons that have become more dramatic with each new model, however, we feel that the simple purity of line of the DB7 will ultimately define the breed. We are very pleased to be able to offer this lovely DB7 presented in Mendip Blue with a stunning light grey leather interior, that has covered a mere 18,155 miles from new. The current custodian bought the car in March 2020 when he moved to France, however complex French vehicle regulations have meant that it has proved difficult to register over there and consequently he is reluctantly offering the Aston for sale. It will come to our NEC Sale with a fresh MOT and will therefore be immediately ready to use by its next lucky owner. Whilst in his care, the current technical engineer keeper has added some value by way of changing the grille to a super chrome version, stainless steel tail pipes have been added, the front brakes have been upgraded to Brembos and all fluids have been changed including the gearbox oil, engine oil and all relevant filters. The car is supplied with its original book pack and stamped service book and, we understand, is 'on the button'.This elegant Aston could grace any private collection, would make an excellent weekend cruiser or even, a slightly indulgent daily driver.    SpecificationMake: ASTON MARTINModel: DB7Year: 1996Chassis Number: SCFAA1117SK100491Registration Number: N246 BKRTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: AM1/0200298Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 18155 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Elegant, 2.6-litre, four-seat, early-1960S Coupé clearly personifying Giorgetto Giugiaro's emerging talent.Alfa Romeo’s 2000/2600 family of saloons, spiders and coupés have never quite captured the imagination in the way the smaller 101 and 105-Series Giulias and Giuliettas have done but are now finally being recognised as serious classics in their own right. The 2000 replaced the 1900-Series as Alfa Romeo’s flagship model in 1958 and utilised a 2-litre, four-cylinder engine coupled with a 5-speed gearbox on a longer wheelbase platform for additional legroom. The Berlina was joined at the outset by a lovely Spider version, styled by Carrozzeria Touring, which acquired a set of twin carburettors to boost power to 115bhp. In 1960, the range was further expanded to include an elegant 2+2 Coupé styled by the talented Giorgetto Giugiaro, then employed as Chief Designer by Bertone. The Sprint, as the coupé version was known, managed to convey a refined, sporting air that still looks fabulous nearly six decades on. Answering criticism that the 2000 lacked power, Alfa’s engineers developed a new six-cylinder engine, a reworking of the big four, and the over-square motor had a total capacity of 2,584cc with twin overhead camshafts, a raised compression of 9:1 and triple carburettors. With a healthy 145bhp available, the new power unit was capable of propelling the 2600 Sprint to a top speed of 125mph (200 km/h). The styling of the Sprint was little-altered, only the air scoop on the bonnet and ‘2600’ badging setting it apart from the four-cylinder version. Although built in comparatively small numbers, the 2600 Sprint was actually the most successful of the 2000/2600 family, with 6,999 finding homes worldwide and it has become historically significant as the last Alfa Romeo to have been fitted with an inline, six-cylinder engine topped with twin overhead camshafts, the traditional Alfa Romeo engine configuration since the 1920s.Manufactured on 21st May 1963, this is a superb example of these rare Alfas and is finished in an attractive shade of Cobalt Blue with burgundy leather seating, complementing wine-red interior trim and sky blue carpets. It was delivered new to South Africa in left-hand drive before eventually arriving in the UK in 2014. The subject of an earlier, photo-documented restoration, this particular Alfa has clearly passed through caring hands and remains in excellent, corrosion-free condition throughout. It has recently been serviced including a brake overhaul and will be offered with a fresh MOT issued prior to our sale. Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to appreciate this eminently useable, four-seat classic. The 2600 Sprint is a wonderful 1960s Italian GT and represents superb value when compared with contemporary exotics from Maserati and Ferrari.SpecificationMake: ALFA ROMEOModel: 2600Year: 1963Chassis Number: AR822146Registration Number: LDS 522ATransmission: ManualDrive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 57474 MilesMake: LHDInterior Colour: Red HideClick here for more details and images

One owner from new, 11,618 miles and as near perfect as you could ever hope to find. The legendary Honda NSX (standing for New Sportscar Experimental) was developed by the Honda Motor Corporation between 1984 and its eventual launch in 1990, with major chassis and suspension input from three-times F1 World Champion, Ayrton Senna. It featured an all-aluminium monocoque body, encompassing a revolutionary extruded aluminium-alloy frame and suspension making the car extremely light and very strong. Power was provided by a state-of-the-art, 3.0-litre, 24-valve, V6 'VTEC' engine (variable valve timing) which, despite being developed during F1's turbo-era, was normally aspirated. The free-revving, all-alloy unit produced 270bhp initially, which was good enough for a top speed of 168mph and a 0-60 time of less than 6.0 seconds. Those performance figures put the NSX on a par with Ferrari's 348 GTB, but in terms of comfort, ergonomics, driving dynamics and build quality, the NSX was in a different league entirely. Other game-changing features included 4-channel ABS brakes, Titanium connecting rods and, later in the model's life, an electric power steering system as well as an upgrade to 3.2-litres. The car was the first real Japanese 'supercar', proving itself and quickly establishing respect from its key competitors. However, this superiority was not translated into sales and, by the time production ceased in 2005, fewer than 20,000 had been sold making them relatively rare and much sought-after today.Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this stunning Honda NSX finished in Formula Red with a manual gearbox and non-assisted steering, exactly the same specification as Ayrton Senna's own road car, so familiar from the well known image of him washing it outside his Portuguese villa in 1992. J15 NSX was collected new by its one and only owner from Honda Dealer, Windmill Hill in Swindon on 31st January 1992 and since then has travelled a very cossetted 11,618 miles. The car is accompanied by an impeccable history file listing every MOT and detailing every service at the correct intervals, the most recent of which included a cambelt change. The overall condition of this beautiful NSX can only be described as straight from the 1992 International Motor Show Stand with the exception of its original Bridgestone tyres which naturally have been replaced but which do come with the car for those seeking 100% originality. Testament to the quality of the exotic metals used in the building of these masterpieces is that the underneath still looks factory, fresh today. It's supplied with both keys, all service books, the original purchase invoice and, as new, dealer mats. This 1992 Honda NSX is as correct and as perfect as you will ever find and to drive one still makes you question where some supercar manufacturers have been for the last 30 years, a truly exceptional example. SpecificationMake: HONDAModel: NSXYear: 1992Chassis Number: JHMNA11500T000990Registration Number: J15 NSXTransmission: ManualEngine Number: C30A3-1000795 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 11600 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a unique and beautiful Carrozzeria-bodied car, the world’s only right-hand drive TVR Trident Coupé.The third of three prototype TVR Trident Coupés and the only right-hand drive example, the Trident was designed by Trevor Fiore and hand-built in steel on a stretched TVR Griffith 200 chassis by Carrozzeria Fissore of Turin in 1965. It was shown at the Turin Motor Show in November of that year before being sent to TVR Cars where it was dismantled and carefully stored until 1972. Over the next decade or so it passed through the hands of several optimistic restorers before being acquired by its current owner in 1986, at which time a full restoration commenced under the guidance of Sir Stirling Moss’ ex-racing mechanic, Don Haldenby. Don's brief was to return this unique TVR to its original condition, including sourcing a correct Ford 289 V8 with 4-barrel Holley carburettor, Borg Warner T10 gearbox and Salisbury Power-Lok 4HU differential. When the Trident was put together in the late 1980s, the correct TVR suspension was unavailable, so it was fitted with Ford front and Jaguar rear suspension, pleasingly, resulting in better drivability and, as it was a prototype, that was the whole idea. The car has recently undergone a complete strip down and respray to maintain its Concours standard and eligibility for most major Concours events. It has previously featured in the Cartier Style et Luxe at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace to name but a few. The car’s provenance has recently been verified by the TVR Car Club and, more importantly, in a letter from the then owner and managing director of TVR Engineering, Martin Lilley, confirming its presence at the Turin Motor Show in 1965 and its sale from the factory in 1972.Having covered just 13,000 miles from new and still sporting its original Italian hand-crafted interior, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a unique and beautiful Carrozzeria bodied car, the world’s only right-hand drive TVR Trident Coupé.SpecificationMake: TVRModel: TRIDENTYear: 1965Chassis Number: LWB107Registration Number: FNB 449CTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 303725Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 13053 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Grey VinylClick here for more details and images

Lot 717

Outright winner of the 1965 RAC Rally in the hands of Rauno Aaltonen, this remarkable Mini is a true British competition legend and, having formed part of highly regarded UK private collections over the years, DJB 93B is now offered on the open market.Unlikely though it may have seemed to anyone viewing an 848cc-engined 'Mini Seven' in 1959, when John Cooper got hold of it a few years later the resulting 'Mini Cooper' became the most successful works rally car of the 1960s. The Mini Cooper family's ultimate expression - the 1,275cc 'S' - won first time out in 1964 and became the works' frontline car from 1965 onwards, winning eight international rallies outright that same year, an amazing achievement.According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, this now Morris-badged (though originally Austin) Mini Cooper 1,275S, 'CA2S7/662044', was built at Longbridge on 26th November 1964 prior to despatch on 2nd December to the MG Car Company at Abingdon where, like most BMC factory competition cars, it was issued with a Berkshire registration, in this case 'DJB 93B'. Following subsequent preparation by the Abingdon-based Competitions Department, initially as an Austin for export market reasons, it took part in the 1965 Swedish and Acropolis Rallies before finishing 13th in class on the Alpine and (as a Morris) winning the RAC Rally of GB in the legendary Rauno Aaltonen's hands.Having been driven to victory by Tony Fall on the Scottish Rally the following season, 'DJB 93B' rolled into retirement from Abingdon Competitions Department service during the 1966 Gulf London Rally and was not seen again until 1986. By 1991, ownership had transferred from clubman Jeff Wilson to Mini Machine of Darlington, from whom the project was taken on in 1996 by the highly respected and very successful Works Rally co-driver and subsequent World Rally Team Manager (Toyota, Mitsubishi etc) Phil Short, who commissioned a total restoration to original 'Works' specification.A correct and fully restored Mk1 body shell was employed, though with double-skinned exhaust tunnel, floor under driver's feet and cross-member, strengthened bulkhead steady bar bracket, steering rack mounts and rear shocker mounts all being to Abingdon specification. Although run initially in hydrolastic form, like most works Minis of the day, the car was given 'dry' suspension in period and is in this form today. Parts were sourced by marque specialist John Kelly while Simon Wheatcroft's workshop was responsible for the detailed build. The engine incorporates a 1,275S thick-flange block, linered and bored out +0.020" to 1,293cc; Omega dished pistons; Farndon cross-drilled crank in EN40B steel; fully machined conrods in EN24V; Downton No. 2 cam; and 12G940 cylinder head fed by twin SU H4 carburettors. Engine builder Bryan Slark, formerly with Downton, achieved a dynamometer reading of 117bhp at 7,000rpm and 1071b/ft torque at 5,000rpm. The transmission specification includes a 22G333 gearbox casing, straight-cut close-ratio pinions, straight-cut drop gears, 4.3:1 final drive and Quaife Torsen-type limited-slip differential. Following installation in the car, the rolling road showed 96bhp at 7,250rpm and 811b/ft at 4,250rpm. The engine is said to be extremely flexible from 3,000rpm and eager to rev to 8,000rpm at which point it sounds wonderful! As the early BMC roll-bar with single rear stay no longer complies with FIA/MSA safety requirements, a Safety Devices bolt-in full cage with easily removable front hoop was chosen. 1964 glass windows have been used, while the heated screen and all trim, as well as the Springalex-type steering wheel, air horns and internally mounted electric washers, are exactly as used on the 1965 RAC. The seats are exact replicas of the originals: the driver's a bucket-type with tubular frame, the co-driver's reclining. The works dash and well-equipped navigator's department are Abingdon-correct, while the Willans harnesses and FIA cut-out switch are compliant with current regulations. The electrics are authentic, having been wired by Stan Chalmers who, with John Smith of Lucas, used to wire-up all the factory cars. There are five extra Lucas lamps with quick-release brackets and a swivelling roof light with Aaltonen anti-glare scoop. Under-body protection is provided by a 'Scottish' sump guard with optional extension guard and battery skid. The wheels, six of them, are genuine magnesium Minilites shod with Yokohama A008 tyres: five new, one used. Roof and body, as well as engine and transmission, paint colours are all authentic. For display purposes, there is a December '65 tax disc.A most impressive history file contains signed and dated BMIHT Heritage Certificates pre- and post-rebuild confirming manufacturing, registration and competition history; Abingdon 'Build Sheets' for 1964 RAC Rally; BMC Homologation Forms from period; FIA Historic Vehicle Identity Form; current MSA Competition Car Logbook; MoT Test Certificates 1986-July 2007; two folders of original invoices; and current Swansea V5C registration document. Photograph albums record the car's restoration, wiring and engine - both in build and on the dyno - and winning drivers Aaltonen and Fall with it at the Abingdon Reunion. On the front covers of Autosport (December 1965) and Mini World, 'DJB 93B' has also featured in several other publications, copies of which accompany the car also.'DJB 93B's BMC factory team rally history:1965 Swedish (Rauno Aaltonen) retired, mechanical1965 Acropolis (Timo Makinen) retired, mechanical1965 Alpine (Pauline Mayman) 13th in category1965 RAC (Rauno Aaltonen) 1st overall1966 Scottish (Tony Fall) 1st overall1966 Gulf London (Tony Fall) retired, accidentThis is one of the most correctly specified and detailed ex-works Minis around. Since completion in 1998, the car has been maintained regardless of cost (as confirmed by bills on file) and always garaged in a heated and dehumidified motor house. Apart from regular exercise on various historic rally 'fun runs' as part of the 'Slowly Sideways Group', 'DJB 93B' has also been successfully hill climbed and sprinted with a win in the 2001 Midland Speed Classic Championship. The car purchased at Bonhams' 'Race Retro' sale at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire in March 2007 (Lot 306), since when it has been invited to the Goodwood 'Festival of Speed' where it was driven again by Rauno Aaltonen in 2010.While other ex-works cars come onto the open market from time to time, many of them are likely to cost very much more again to restore and then involve even further expenditure to return them to period-correct specification. Few are likely to have been prepared to the standard of authenticity to be found on this car. 'DJB 93B' has been rebuilt as far as has been practical to the original specification in which it would have started the 1965 RAC Rally, which it won, making it the only Mini ever to do so. The desirable 3.8-litre 'S' model with 355bhp, sports suspension, upgraded braking and a sports exhaust. Full Porsche service history plus top-bearing replacement. The 997 marked another new chapter for Porsche, although to look at, the new generation seemed to hark back to former glories, particular in profile and the design of its oval headlights. The 997 was initially available from July 2004 in two guises, Carrera and Carrera S, both rear-wheel drive only with identical bodywork. The base Carrera stuck with the well established 3.6-litre power unit producing 325bhp, however, the Carrera S had useful extra power – some 355bhp – thanks to a larger displacement engine (3 litres). Other general 997 enhancements included better suspension, reduced drag-coefficient, a more appealing interior and extra room for passengers. The Carrera S also benefited from a sports exhaust, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), bigger brakes, 19” wheels as standard and Xenon headlights with red brake callipers the only external clue. The car presented here is a 2005 Porsche 911 (997) 3.8-litre Carrera S specified with the ‘drivers’ choice’ of the manual 6-speed (G97/01) gearbox (which was reinforced by Porsche for the ‘S’ model). It has a full Porsche service history, the most recent of which was only a few weeks ago, and included some remedial work to repair and ensure the longevity of the engine’s top bearing. This is sure to be peace-of-mind to any potential buyer of this era of 997, with marque specialists Zentrum Ltd. of Nottingham observing absolutely no piston scoring when this work was carried out. The car is accompanied by a large history file, showing its fastidious service history, and supporting its 76,000 miles (which equates to under 4,500 miles per annum). The car presents well in a very stylish colour combination and, having been first registered on 24th March 2005, its condition belies its 17 years, indicative of diligent ownership. There is nothing quite like the urgency and sound of a large-capacity normally-aspirated Porsche flat-6 accelerating, giving an instant response, with real torque and a potent sound, especially channelled through the more vocal Sports exhaust. Our vendor is a private Porsche enthusiast and having enjoyed this car for the last three years, a change in circumstances dictate that he has now decided to offer the car for sale. Currently, the 997-Series Porsche 911 seems tremendous value, particularly at this guide, offering real performance with everyday usability and an entry into the fascinating world of 911 ownership.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 2005Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99Z5S736053Registration Number: S2 XXNTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 68509110 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 76000 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A mini piece of Italian exotica, carbonfibre monocoque chassis, dual dry clutch gearbox and only 8,000 miles from new; this example also benefits from some incredible upgrades. A rear-wheel drive, mid-engined sportscar based around a lightweight carbonfibre chassis? That'll be a McLaren or a Lamborghini, right? Not in this case. Alfa Romeo has long been a brand of unfulfilled promise. With the 4C, it got itself right back on track and its construction really does put it among some very rarefied machinery indeed. Back in 2013, it had been 30 years since we'd seen a real Alfa Romeo sports car for real people, but then came the 4C. Immediately there was a lineage to the 4C’s bigger sibling, the 8C Competizione (2007-2010), with its carbonfibre bodyshell, this now modern-classic supercar regularly demands £250,000-plus; furthermore, the 8C was produced for Alfa Romeo by Maserati, the very people who lovingly took on the task of hand-assembling the 4C, its populist successor. That fact is significant and will continue to be, as history judges the Alfa Romeo 4C. Make no mistake, the 4C is a proper, bespoke, and gorgeous driving machine. For now, perhaps, it is content with being a lightweight, mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sportscar (that just happens to hand-built and composite bodied), which makes the most of a relatively small engine with its lack of mass and impeccable handling - in short, the type of Alfa Romeo they used to build and that almost anyone could aspire to own.The light rigid chassis, the wide track and a low centre of gravity aided by a McLaren-style electronic Q2 differential (that utilises the brakes to do the work of an LSD) all add up to impressive road-holding and cornering traction, however, it wasn't particularly happy on British roads. In retrospect, Alfa Romeo and indeed every other manufacturer who wants to offer their products in the UK, should have developed the car on the UK's finest lumpy lanes, on the grounds that if it worked here, it would have worked anywhere. In the end, the driving improvement duties were happily taken on by equally clever folk in the aftermarket. Chassis 'fixes' from a plethora of specialists quickly resolved any bumpy B-road misgivings and give the 4C the handling ammunition it needs to take on and likely beat all-comers on all roads.Enter the car presented here, a 4C developed by a real enthusiast with a truly impressive specification. Our vendor happily relinquished his 4C (already supplied with the Race Pack) to the best-in-the-business, Alfa Workshop of Royston, Hertfordshire who have lavished all their expertise, plus servicing dedication (regularly serviced, with cambelts on due-dates) on this car. Along with a full geometry set-up, Alfa Workshop also fitted an upgraded front anti-roll bar, plus an additional rear anti-roll bar and electric power-assisted steering – a real gamechanger for the driving experience - according to Alfa Workshop, who solely supply and fit this £6,000 EPAS upgrade, this is one of only three UK 4Cs to have benefitted from this improvement. It's also enhanced by the addition of a full KW coil-over kit, a mild ECU remap (280bhp), Helmholtz exhaust resonator, tailpipe, and carbon fibre tip, multiple KOSHI carbon-fibre parts (costing £8,000, includes interior, engine bay, rear diffuser), Tillett B5 carbon-fibre race seats (costing £2,000), plus lightweight magnesium Titan alloy wheels (costing £5,000, specially imported from the US, fitted with performance tyres that have covered less than 1,000 miles; the four original upgraded style of wheel accompany the car with tyres that have covered just 7,000 miles). The car also benefits from the application of PPF and is accompanied by a branded, fitted indoor car cover.Other upgrades include faux-suede headlining and sun visors, together with upgraded heater and ventilator controls, again, specially sourced from the US. All original components/parts will accompany the car, however, the cherished registration, 'S88 CCL' will not.The little Alfa has covered just 8,412 miles from new and, having benefitted from input from some very knowledgeable 4C people, it's almost certainly the best handling, most accomplished and totally 'sorted' example available.(Please not that the registration 'S88 CCL' will not come with the car, it will revert back to 'RX17 NUY'.)SpecificationMake: ALFA ROMEOModel: 4CYear: 2017Chassis Number: ZAR9600000M193033Registration Number: RX17 NUYTransmission: Manual Engine Number: 7661081 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 8412 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Carbon Click here for more details and images

A genuine, UK-supplied (C-16), right-hand drive, 930 Turbo in good condition with substantial recent investment.Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program, and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0 litre Carrera RSR engine, in road trim, a combination that delivered 260 bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978 the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3 litres, gaining an intercooler in the process; power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only four speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.Offered here is a right-hand drive, UK-supplied ‘C16’, 3.3-litre, four-speed manual gearbox example that's finished in the striking combination of Marine Blue Metallic with a Dark Blue (Dunkesblau) leather interior. Just over 87,849 miles were showing on the odometer at the time of cataloguing and this particular car has been the lucky recipient of over £20,000's worth of mechanical attention by marque specialist, Paragon Porsche, during March and April 2022. There is a huge amount of detail in the invoices showing the extent of the work and we encourage all interested parties to come see for themselves at the NEC.Offered by a well-known Porsche aficionado, this Turbo represents a wonderful opportunity to own a highly useable example of one of these iconic German coupes. With the market for 930 Turbos continuing to gain strength we are delighted to offer this spectacular classic supercar that could well prove to be a shrewd and enjoyable purchase.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 1988Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ93ZJS000516Registration Number: XDZ 2201Transmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveClick here for more details and images

One owner from new, presented in the iconic Focus RS colour of Ultimate Green, and one of the lowest mileage Mk2 RS' in the world having covered just 357 miles from new.As a result of the ‘interesting’ launch of the Mk1 Focus RS, the decision was made to never build another Focus RS. Thankfully, Ford went back on their word and the second generation Focus RS was released in 2009. The car they built was a limited run, 300bhp 'super-hatch' and they did not hold back one bit. With its huge twin-blade spoiler at the back, aggressive body kit, and ballistic performance from the turbocharged 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine, the car was launched with a hugely vibrant Ultimate Green paint scheme. Only 11,500 examples were built in a production run that lasted a little over three years, with just 4,000 finding homes in the UK.The RS stayed true to its lineage and opted to remain front-wheel drive over four-wheel drive, but with a combination of Ford’s trick Revo-Knuckle front suspension, a Quaife limited-slip diff, and well-judged ESP, the Mk2 did a great job of laying the power down and managing the torque-steer while still providing plenty of involvement. The chassis was stiffened by around 30% and featured bigger driveshafts, a wider track, lower ride-height, and a faster steering rack translating into remarkably civilised road manners with a fabulous bite when you wound it up. With 301bhp and a massive 324lb.ft on tap, the RS could hit 60 mph in under 6.0 seconds and topped 160 mph, all accompanied by the throaty five-cylinder warble, plenty of turbo flutter, and even the occasional pop and bang from the exhausts. When you weren’t on a charge, the RS was a polite and practical hatchback capable of returning 25-30mpg, easy to park, offered plenty of boot space and was reasonably quiet at a constant speed. However, with its gaping grille, 19-inch wheels, flared arches, deep diffuser and a wing that would embarrass a Porsche Turbo, the RS left you in no doubt about its intentions. This 2009 Focus RS Mk 2 is finished in the iconic launch colour of Ultimate Green and is in outstanding condition. As standard, it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, eight speakers, a heated windscreen, and auto-levelling Xenon headlights with jet wash. This example was specified as the very desirable Lux Pack 1, equipping the car with dual-zone air conditioning, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, keyless start, rear parking sensors, and auto lights/wipers. The interior is finished in black with Dynamica partial-leather Recaro seats which appear unmarked, as do the carpets, presenting the whole of the interior in ‘as new’ condition. The car has lived a life of luxury in a heated garage and remained completely standard all its life, as it left the factory. The current indicated mileage is 357 and the service records have been stamped by Jermyn & Sons Seaford, Ford Main Dealers with the most recent being recorded at 328 miles. With the prices of performance Fords continuing to rise across the board, particularly the modern classics such as the Mk1 Focus RS and Mk2 Focus RS500, this 2009 example with its single ownership, high specification and borderline unrepeatable low mileage is perfectly suited to being nestled into a collection, enthusiastically driven, or ideally a combination of the two.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: FOCUS RS MK2Year: 2009Chassis Number: WF0GXXGCDG9B47148Registration Number: GV09 ZKCTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 9B47148Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 353 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

A beautifully restored, matching numbers 3.8-litre, ex-South African car finished in the most stunning combination of British Racing Green with Sage Green leather. For many, the definitive Jaguar sports saloon, the Mk2, was introduced in October 1959. A peerless blend of elegance and muscularity, its sleek lines clothed an evolution of the Coventry marque's first monocoque design. Powered by derivatives of the same XK DOHC straight-six engine that had swept Jaguar to five Le Mans victories, the Mk2 was quick to dominate contemporary saloon car racing. Equipped with coil-and-wishbone independent front suspension, a leaf-sprung Salisbury rear axle and servo-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, the range-topping 3.8 boasted nearly seven times the horsepower of a Mini 850 and a 126mph top speed! Blessed with one of the all-time great automotive interiors, its stylish instrumentation, rich wood veneers and sumptuous leather upholstery all conspired to cosset and cocoon its lucky occupants. This rather smart 3.8-litre example dates from 1964 and we understand returned to the UK in 1990. It's a UK-supplied, right-hand drive car and was converted from a manual gearbox to automatic during its restoration by P and K Thornton in 1999. The Jaguar now presents very well in British Racing Green over Sage Green leather with new Apple Green carpets, a light grey headlining and excellent veneers. It looks very sporty with chrome wire wheels, Speedwell racing mirrors, chromed tailpipes and a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel. Supplied with the car are invoices dated between 1992 and 2000 totalling £38,896 and in 2003 it was valued at £30,000. It has covered 96,500 miles which is a bit academic with a restoration of this quality. This a beautifully presented Mk2 with all the right sporting cues and, unusually, it's an automatic which opens up a whole new list of potential owners who, for one reason or another, are more comfortable without a clutch pedal.   SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: MK2Year: 1964Chassis Number: A232768Registration Number: ENP 416BTransmission: AutoEngine Number: 7B647928 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 96500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Sage Green leatherClick here for more details and images

A desirable, second-generation RS Turbo subject to a fastidious restoration a few years ago and maintained to that standard today.Based on the success of the previous model, the Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 (produced between 1986-1990) was more suited to daily use, whereas the earlier car was a bit of a homologation special. Many new features were adopted for the Series 2 including utilising the 1,600cc fuel-injected CVH engine taken from the S1 Turbo but now fitted with the Garret T3 turbo (water-cooled, unlike the S1), revised engine management settings, lower overall gearing, an improved gearbox and limited-slip differential, a larger clutch and improved KE-Jetronic unit and inter-cooler. Suspension and chassis changes included stiffer front and rear springs, uprated anti-roll bars, mechanical ABS and larger brakes. The S2 produced an impressive 132bhp at 5,750rpm, with maximum torque of 133lb/ft produced at 2,750 rpm, offering ample performance with a top speed of 125mph and a 0-60mph time of 8.3 seconds. Although on paper these figures were a tad down on the Series 1, the new car was considerably easier to drive quickly and, effectively, was a faster car.Originally supplied by Perry’s of Finchley in 1989, this multi concours-winning Series 2 RS Turbo is finished in Radiant Red with the normal grey Recaro interior. A five year restoration commenced in 2007 with the car looking ‘showroom’ fresh when it emerged, underlined by the fact that it immediately won the RS Owners Novice Concours Gold Cup. Since then, the RS has remained in careful and considered ownership and has covered little mileage in recent years, ensuring that it still presents in the same spectacular condition. It's accompanied by a comprehensive history file containing the original book pack, a photographic record of the Concours rebuild, numerous invoices, tax discs and MOT certificates.  The market for performance Fords from this period never seems to cool down, particularly when it comes to RS Turbos, and this superb example would be equally at home within any serious collection or taking its place, once again, on the show circuit. In the 1970s, ownership of a Capri 3000E meant that you had definitely 'arrived'.Although a fastback coupé, Ford wanted the Capri Mk I to be affordable for a broad spectrum of potential buyers. To help achieve that, it was available with a variety of engines with the British and German factories producing different line-ups. The continental model used the Ford Taunus V4 engine in 1.3, 1.5 and 1.7-litre engine capacities, whilst the British versions were powered by the Ford Kent straight-four in 1.3 and 1.6-litre form. The Ford Essex V4 engine 2.0L (British built) and Cologne V6 2.0 L (German built) served as initial range-toppers. At the end of the year, new sports versions were added: the 2300 GT in Germany, using a twin-choke carburettor with 125bhp, and in September 1969 the 3000 GT in the UK, with the Essex V6 generating 138bhp. The range continued to be broadened, with another 3.0-litre variant, the 3000E, introduced from the British plant in March 1970, offering "more luxurious interior trim". Although the 3000GT was seen as the most sporty of the MkI, the equally powerful 3000E with its impressive specification became the most aspirational of the entire range. This rare, UK-supplied 3000E Automatic  is finished in Evergreen Metallic, a rare colour in period, with a tan interior sporting the cloth centre inserts in the seats, unique to the 3000E. Over more recent times, it's been treated to a pair of new front wings and a quality repaint in Evergreen. ahe engine and gearbox have both been fully overhauled recently and the car has covered less than 200 miles since. The suspension was also restored with Poly-bushes being fitted and the underside finished off with a full stainless steel exhaust. In a super colour with its black vinyl roof, polished Rostyle wheels, stainless exhaust and good chrome, this is a very attractive example of a rare and collectable '70s legend.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: CAPRIYear: 1971Chassis Number: BBECKA32752Registration Number: WKR 888JTransmission: AutomaticEngine Number: BBECKA32752Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 70143 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

UK-delivered in Olive Green and offered directly from the personal collection of rally champion and James Bond stunt driver, Mark Higgins. The Porsche 911 (996) Turbo S came at the very end of the 996 production cycle in 2005 and was given the full-house treatment of options, being sufficiently different to become known as the 996.2. The engine was fitted with the bigger turbos from the X50 Power kit, uprated intercoolers and a revised ECU boosting output to 450bhp, and the car's top speed broke through that magic 300km/h barrier, with a maximum of 190mph (307km/h), placing it firmly in supercar territory, helped by the four-wheel drive. This period also saw a huge change in attitude towards semi-automatic gearboxes, helped by Ferrari’s F1 and Porsche’s Tiptronic, and unprecedented technological advancements. It was accepted as the best of both worlds by the traditional, yet enthusiast, Porsche Turbo buyer, and subsequently a manual gearbox was rarely specified, none more so than the Turbo S, most of which were Coupes. A UK-delivered manual cabriolet Turbo S is therefore so rare that UK production figures are not recorded but, undoubtedly, there are very few and they seldom become available. However, none are comparable to this car’s colour, mileage and provenance, which combine to make it unique.Optioned with carbon ceramic brakes and delivered new to the UK, finished in the very rare colour of Olive Green, this Turbo S Cabriolet was first registered on  23rd May 2005 to a successful restaurateur. He used it as a daily driver for the first few years, covering largely motorway miles, however, the annual mileage gradually reduced as time went by. Having always coveted the car, our vendor, multiple British Rally Championship winner Mark Higgins, purchased the Porsche from his friend, becoming the second owner on  26th December 2013.Like many of the sports cars in Mark’s Collection, this Turbo S has been driven sparingly with overseas filming commitments limiting his time behind the wheel. His talents have been called upon in the modern era of Bond films, most recently doubling as James Bond in the set piece Aston Martin DB5 scene in No Time To Die. As one of Hollywood’s go-to 'wheelmen' Mark’s driving has featured in the Fast & Furious, Batman and Star Wars franchises to name a few.Regular oil changes were carried out and the maintenance record lists main dealer and specialist services together with dates and mileage. Since 2013, Mark has driven less than 3,000 miles in the car and it's presented to auction freshly serviced and MOT'd with an odometer reading of 66,995 miles at the time of cataloguing. It's supplied with hard top, spare key, wallet containing the Porsche manuals, aforementioned receipts and its V5C.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 911Year: 2005Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ99Z5S670343Registration Number: NG05 REDTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 64531360 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 66995 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

Very impressive Plus 8 restored and upgraded to a level rarely seen.Although Rover's attempts to acquire the Morgan Car Company in 1966 had proved fruitless, it nevertheless granted the sports car manufacturer access to its newly acquired, ex-Buick lightweight aluminium V8 engine with a view to cementing a supply contract. Hired by the Malvern works to assess the powerplant's merits/suitability, race engineer Maurice Owen lost little time in shoehorning one into a Morgan Plus 4 chassis. With trials of the resultant prototype successfully undertaken in 1967, the Plus 8 debuted at the following year's Earls Court Motor Show. Its lengthy production run has seen the Plus 8 alter little in outward appearance, save for ever widening wheelarches accommodating fatter rubber, yet beneath the skin the changes have been innumerable. Better gearboxes, fuel injection, rack-and-pinion steering, improved corrosion protection and paint, telescopic rear dampers, air bags and the obligatory catalytic converter have all become part of the Plus 8 picture over the years, along, of course, with bigger engines to offset the inevitable increase in weight.Dating from 1990, E9 MOG was chosen by our vendor for it’s exceptional build quality having been restored by renowned Morgan expert Kevin Vernon of Tudor Motors. During the process the car benefitted from many refinements and upgrades and it's estimated that the parts and labour costs for the enhancements and upgrades ‘E9 MOG’ enjoys, would be in the region of £40,000 in today’s market. An original UK-supplied, right-hand drive, matching-numbers, manual gearbox, V12 carefully restored in the past.A decade after the original Jaguar E-type arrived, the design progressively matured through 1971 with the introduction of the Series 3. Designed to showcase the new smooth and torquey 5.3-litre engine, originally developed for Le Mans, the Series 3 cars were available as a 'Roadster' (convertible) or a 2+2 Coupe. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by its large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a larger bonnet bulge, updated bumpers, four exhaust tips, and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. It also featured uprated brakes, power steering as standard and a large horizontal scoop added to the underside of the bonnet to assist with cooling. The interior was entirely new in the V12, with more comfortable seating, stylish new door panels and a smaller dished and leather-rimmed steering wheel. Being slightly larger and altogether much softer in nature, the E-type in Series 3 form had lost the wildness of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile, to which it was arguably better suited.Having been with its current owner for the last 32 years, this Primrose Yellow Series 3 E-Type Roadster with a black interior and mohair hood remains in excellent condition throughout having been restored in the 1980s with replacement panels as required and a partial retrim completed. With regular care and maintenance, this Jaguar has led a cossetted life and, after a recent mechanical recommission carried out after a period of little use, it's now ready for its next lucky owner. The current indicated mileage is just 39,446, believed to be the genuine mileage covered since first registration in December 1974, as supported by the accompanying history file which contains relevant paperwork and a quantity of invoices going back to day one. Presented in outstanding unmolested condition, this lovely Series 3 has a real air of originality and, although restored some years ago, the condition is such that is now ready to be used and enjoyed as intended. In E-Type terms, this lovely example seems to tick all the boxes; UK-supplied, right-hand drive, manual gearbox, matching numbers, Pale Primrose, chrome wires, long-term ownership, low mileage, an older restoration that's mellowing nicely and sensibly guided.  SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPEYear: 1974Chassis Number: IS2288Registration Number: GRR 600NTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 7S132445BDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 39466 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Rare South African, two-door, long stick Range Rover Classic recently sympathetically restored. The no-nonsense Land Rover was an unashamed agricultural workhorse and, though fully roadable, was never intended to cosset its occupants. Therefore, from day one, there lay scope for the production of a sibling that combined the Landie’s much vaunted off-road prowess with a greater degree of on-road chic and comfort. Though various such plans were mooted in the 1950s, it was the emergence of the SUV market in America a decade later that finally convinced Rover to create such a model. Spen King famously oversaw the 100 inch Station Wagon project that was finally revealed to the world as the Range Rover in 1970 - a David Bache design that created a whole new genre of go-anywhere vehicles, which remains in full bloom today. This right-hand drive, manual gearbox, two-door Range Rover Classic was imported from South Africa in 2018 by the car's previous owner who purchased it from a friend who lives out there. Once back in the UK, it was subject to a sympathetic restoration over a two-year period which included a glass-out respray in Lincoln Green, new tan interior including the headlining, new fuel tank, fuel pump, steering box, alternator, refurbished carbs, a full brake overhaul, five new tyres and the wheels powder coated in silver.Purchased just over two years ago by our vendor, it has been lightly used and regularly serviced by him during that period and still presents beautifully. The odometer indicates some 43,000 miles, but naturally this is not warranted, and the car is supplied with its V5C and some previous history and restoration bills.Two-door Classic Range Rovers are wholly endearing and always seem in fashion, blending in effortlessly whether at Goodwood or a local country show, and this nicely restored example will be welcome anywhere. SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: RANGE ROVERYear: 1979Chassis Number: 35753919Registration Number: EEL 827TTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 24G04105BDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 43000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Tan VinylClick here for more details and images

Fastidiously restored Cooper in 'better than new' condition. This super little Cooper was found in a garden in Newquay with a Conifer tree growing though it and was duly rescued from its role as a garden ornament and shipped to its new owners in Coventry where it began its transformation. They are technical motor engineers by trade who are, more often than not, building E-Type bodies for Jaguar amongst many other aspects of car refurbishment and CAD work. Inevitably, this was always going to be a detailed restoration from the start. As the Mini's bodyshell was beyond hope, a brand new Heritage Shell was purchased and the remains of the original car stripped out. Brand new front and rear subframes were fitted along with all new braking components and new suspension parts. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt by Crafted Classic Tuning, a Mini specialist and fitted with a coil and alternator in place of the dynamo, however, both original parts are with the car should its next owner be fanatical about originality. We understand that this aspect of the restoration cost a fairly substantial £7,000.The restoration of the Cooper's interior was entrusted to Hamilton Commercials, acknowledged as one of the best in the business, utilising the original Red /Gold Brocade fabrics, Tartan Red carpets and, with the addition of a Moto-Lita wood-rim steering wheel, the result is simply stunning. The beautiful paint finish was the handiwork of ATD in Coventry in the original Old English White with a Black roof and the car was treated to a brand new set of Cooper steel wheels and branded new rubber.KAF 370E is supplied with a small history file which basically shows all the invoices for the recent works completed during the restoration and makes interesting reading along with a Heritage Certificate showing this to be a matching numbers car. The odometer indicated 38,148 miles when it was extricated from the undergrowth and the car has covered around 100 bedding-in miles since completion. This is a very impressive restoration with every nook and cranny indicating quality and attention to detail and, whether its new owner wishes to enjoy it on the Concours Lawn or simply buzz around doing the things that Mini Coopers do best, it's bound to be a lot of fun and attract admiring glances. SpecificationMake: AUSTINModel: MINIYear: 1967Chassis Number: C-A257/1013978Registration Number: KAF 370ETransmission: ManualEngine Number: 9FD-SA-H/25992Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 38153 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Red/GoldClick here for more details and images

A North American M3, first registered in the UK on 14th April 1989, now fitted with Evolution cosmetic additions, supplied with service book, V5C and recent main dealer service receipts - Offered Without Reserve. The pedigree of the original E30 M3 is obvious all the way from its race-bred four-cylinder engine (designed to rev past 9,000 RPM in race form) and dog-leg five-speed gearbox to those wheel arch blisters specified, not to look cool on the Kings Road, but to accept slick tyres of up to 10” in width. It has a design purity and simplicity of specification that hardly any modern car, and certainly not a new M3 could hope to match. Admittedly today's M3 has double the power but it isn't all about BHP. To really understand the M3 you need to get behind the wheel and drive one, and really drive it. Get hold of it by the scruff of the neck and give it the ‘Full Monty’ and you'll be approaching automotive nirvana.Today the E30 M3 in any of its iterations is a wonderful device, but it's the way the car handles combining brilliantly crisp turn-in with unlikely stability and poise, that truly puts you in the seat of a car that, in its short life won a dozen Touring Car championships across the globe and made it without doubt BMWs finest car ever. The chassis number for this 1988 BMW E30 M3 designates the car for the North American market and it was first registered in the UK on the 14th April 1989 according to the accompanying V5C which also notes that the car was first registered outside of the UK. We cannot confirm if this was in in America or Canada. The service booklet’s maintenance records starts on the 16th July 1996 at 34,551 miles and ends with the most recent service at a main dealer on 31st March 2022 at 64,422 miles. The advisory free MOT Certificate is valid until the 9th March.Fitted with Evolution cosmetic additions at some stage in its life, this car is an ideal base for a restoration back to what we believe is a standard E30 M3. We note areas of corrosion beneath the paintwork which will need to be addressed at some stage. The history file includes dozens of previous MOT Certificates including recent main dealer service receipts, which come to a total of £1,939.32 in March of this year. An important piece of early Lotus history. The Earl's Court Motorshow car and still boasting some interesting and unique design features that never made it onto later production cars. The Lotus Elite Type 14, when first launched in 1958, put Colin Chapman and Lotus cars very firmly on the map. It utilised a monocoque construction which meant there was no separate chassis and the body was load bearing, and whilst this was becoming accepted practice, the Elite was the first time it had been attempted in glass-fibre. When combined with independent sporty suspension, a ZF gearbox, disc brakes, a Coventry Climax all-aluminium engine and a very low drag coefficient of just 0.29 - it made for a great drivers car. So much so that by production end in 1963 over one thousand had been produced and Lotus was now a credible British sports car manufacturer. The lilac-hued Type 14, chassis #1008 on offer here is a rather special car and an important part of early Lotus history. It is the eigth pre-production prototype Elite and was displayed on the Lotus stand at the 1958 Earls Court Motor Show. The car that followed it, #1009, is recognised as the first genuine production car and was originally purchased by one of Colin Chapman's favoured customers and friends, jazz legend Chris Barber. Initially, 008 was used by the then Lotus works driver, Keith Hall, for road use until 1960. This example and the other prototypes were being sold or lent to selected racing drivers in the late 1950s to gain publicity whilst at the same time discovering any weaknesses before full production started. After Keith Hall’s time with the car, chassis 008 passed in 1960 to its first private owner, who staggeringly kept it for the following 60 years! Under this long-term ownership the car was preserved in its Motor Show appearance both inside and out, as you can see by the charmingly original patina of the Lilac bodywork and original yellow interior. Documented in the huge accompanying history file are details and letters regarding the installation of a 1,500cc Cosworth-modified Ford engine, with a close ratio gearbox due to the poor reliability of the original 1,220cc Climax. This unit was fitted relatively early in the car's life as you’ll see in the letter dated 9th March 1964 to Mr Costin by the then owner. The result of this change meant a huge improvement in both the reliability and performance of 6 SML as recently confirmed by renowned marque expert, Paul Matty, who told Silverstone recently just how good this car is to drive today. Paul knows the car well and, in fact sold 6 SML to the current owner, who is only the second registered keeper, following his predecessor's 60 years of loyalty to the little Lotus.008 boasts some interesting and unique design features that never made it onto later production, one of which is the fuel tank which is encapsulated in the right front wing. There is an incredible amount of history accompanying this special car, far too much to list here as you can see from some of the accompanying photographs, so we highly recommend interested parties come see the car and the owner's file for themselves to really understand the history and preservation on offer here.By the time Elite production ceased in September 1963, 1,030 examples had been built and Lotus had developed from a company unheard of outside of UK club racing to one of the most famous racing teams in the world. They were about to be crowned F1 World Champions for the first time with Jim Clark, and were seen as established world players in road car manufacture with a mature market presence in the USA and elsewhere. The Elite played a big part in this remarkable feat of automotive industrial growth. It was Lotus' first 'grown-up', credible road car and laid down the foundations of the Lotus business that still exists today.Cars are only original once, and 6 SML needs be preserved and cherished by its next owner. We welcome and encourage any inspection of this important piece of both Lotus and British Automotive history.SpecificationMake: LOTUSModel: ELITEYear: 1958Chassis Number: 1008PRegistration Number: 6 SMLTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: YellowClick here for more details and images

Lot 682

A famous Turbo known as 'BADDIE' rediscovered after 20 years of hibernation; with a fascinating history, just 11,000 miles and originality to match; recommissioned ready for sale.Much of the Porsche 911's development had resulted from the factory's racing program and it was the period Group 4 homologation rules, which required 400 road cars to be built, that spurred the development of 'Project 930' - the legendary 911 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a KKK turbocharger to the 3.0-litre Carrera RSR engine in road trim; a combination that delivered 260bhp for a top speed of 155mph. In 1978, the Turbo's engine was enlarged to 3.3-litres, gaining an intercooler in the process, power increased to 300bhp and the top speed, of what was the fastest accelerating road car of its day, went up to 160 mph. But the Turbo wasn't just about top speed, it was also the best equipped 911 and amazingly flexible, hence only 4 speeds in the gearbox, being capable of racing from a standstill to 100mph in 14 seconds! The Turbo's characteristic flared wheel arches and 'tea tray' rear spoiler had already been seen on the Carrera model while the interior was the most luxurious yet seen in a 911, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning and electric windows. More refined than hitherto, yet retaining its high-performance edge, the Porsche 911 Turbo sold in the thousands, becoming the definitive sports car of its age.The car presented here is a 1980 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 3.3-litre and has a fascinating backstory. It is accompanied by the most intriguing and complete history file, full of handwritten letters and addressed invoices relating to its original owner, the legendary music industry figure, Peter Grant (5th April 1935 - 21st November 1995). Grant was best known as the manager of The Yardbirds, Bad Company and most famously Led Zeppelin from their creation in 1968 to their breakup in 1980. With his intimidating size and weight, confrontational manner, knowledge and experience, Grant procured strong and unprecedented deals for his band. He is widely credited with improving pay and conditions for all musicians in dealings with concert promoters. Grant has been described as "one of the shrewdest and most ruthless managers in rock history". In his early years, he had also been a bouncer, wrestler, actor, stunt double and eventually the president of Swan Song Records (LZ & Grant’s own label); hence, he was one of the wealthiest men in the music industry at his peak."Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant didn’t just rule his band, he ruled the entire music industry.’"Marital problems, diabetes, cocaine addiction and the death of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham all took their toll on Grant's health and after the official breakup of Led Zeppelin in 1980 (and the subsequent folding of the Swan Song label in 1983) he virtually retired from the music business to his private estate in East Sussex. However, towards the end of his life, he conquered his addiction and lost a significant amount of weight. His first public appearance for many years was in 1989, when he and Jimmy Page both attended a Frank Sinatra concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Grant subsequently sold his estate and moved to nearby Eastbourne. In 1992, he appeared in the film ‘Carry on Columbus’ as a cardinal and in his remaining years, Grant became a keynote speaker at music management conferences, where he was lauded by latter-day peers. On the afternoon of 21st November 1995, Grant suffered a fatal heart attack while driving to his home at Eastbourne with his daughter Helen. He was 60 years old. Grant was buried on 4th December 1995 at the cemetery opposite his mansion, with the funeral service held at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Hailsham, East Sussex. Coincidentally, it was the 15th anniversary of Led Zeppelin's official breakup. His final public appearance had been at the last night of the Page and Plant tour at the Wembley Arena in July 1995. Grant was survived by his son Warren Grant and his daughter Helen Grant.Unbeknown to lots of people, Peter Grant was also a big car fan and collector, owning, amongst others, a Dino GTS and a 1930 Bentley Speed Six which appeared in the Led Zeppelin film ‘The Song Remains the Same’, with Grant driving his wife in it at their home Horselunges Manor. In July 1980, Grant bought a brand-new Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 3.3-litre from Duncan Hamilton & Co. Ltd, specially ordered in Black with a full Burgundy Hide interior (including dashboard and knee roll), with air conditioning and a sunroof. So taken was he with this car, he registered it (from new) with his number plate ‘BAD 1’ (which was given to him as a Christmas present from the members of Bad Company; Grant also had ‘LZ 1’ on his Range Rover). By the early 1990s, Grant was a fully signed-up and active member of Porsche Club GB, attending and displaying his car at numerous events right up until his death (in 1995); at this time, his Porsche was very well-known, referred to as ‘BADDIE’.The car was seldom used (in no small part due to him being in his reclusive period from 1980 until 1989) mostly taken to shows and car events, being always serviced at Porsche main dealers (Malaya of West Sussex and Rivervale of Hove etc.), racking up only 6,000 miles by 1993. Peter died in 1995 and in June 1996 the car passed to his son Warren (registered in his name). It wore ‘BAD 1’ until 1998 (replaced then with ‘GGM 107V’). In 1998 the car (then with 7,000 miles) was reoffered (via a letter written by Warren Grant) to Duncan Hamilton & Co. Ltd. to sell (there are invoices to them for remedial work to get it ‘sale ready’). They advertised the car for sale in 1998/1999 (now with 9,000 miles) for £31,950, whilst at this time it also featured in a Porsche book.In February 1999, it was bought by Mr Ceanam Baird of Farnham, who kept the car until 2001, when Duncan Hamilton & Co. Ltd (again) sold it to Mr Michael Corregan of Cobham (but didn’t register to himself). Our vendor then bought it from Michael Corregan in May 2002 (then with 9,950 miles covered – all corroborated by MOTs/invoices). Prior to doing the deal, our vendor had it professionally inspected by Autocheck (specialist vehicle surveys) run by an ex-Le Mans Porsche engineer (report in history file) who gave it a glowing report.Life and work took over for our vendor and his Porsche, so it was safely tucked away in his garage. He used it only a handful of times, as indicated by the current mileage of 11,124. There it has sat, unmoved and occasionally run-up, for the last 15 plus years. On deciding to sell the car, our vendor has wisely utilised the expert skills of William Francis Porsche of Suffolk to evaluate and recommission the car where required. At the time of writing, this process is still ongoing, but the originality, solidity and preservation of the car are evident and impressive. The condition is wholly commensurate with the 11,124 miles covered. The car is being given a thorough going-over, renewing all fluids, belts, numerous gaskets, tyres and other consumable parts that require it. The goal is to get the car to the best possible standard as is possible in time for the auction, which will involve a fresh MOT (passed 31/10/22).This car and its history file are very special things, both for classic car enthusiasts and for British rock music fans - a potent combination. Not your usual fully restored Series I, but full of charm and with an interesting history, ready to grace any period drama or The Goodwood Revival.  Over the years, here at Silverstone Auctions in conjunction with Classic Car Auctions, we have been pleased to offer over 150 Land Rovers, including examples supplied to the armed forces, which always hold a special cachet. As an engineering marvel, the Land Rover can still outstrip its modern counterparts, and the Series I rightly belongs in the Motoring Hall of Fame. Hugely successful globally, improvements were made throughout its long lifespan. In 1950, the lights were moved from a position behind the grille to protrude through the mesh and in 1952, a larger, stronger and more reliable 2.0-litre petrol engine replaced the original 1.6-litre. The 1954 model year brought major changes, the 80-inch (2.03 m) wheelbase model was replaced by an 86-inch (2.18 m) wheelbase model, and a 107-inch (2.72 m) wheelbase ‘pick-up’ version was introduced, offering a variety of applications. The car presented here is a 1955 Land Rover Series I 107-inch which, in 1956, was issued to the RAF, and subsequently converted to an Aircraft Crash Rescue vehicle in 1959. It then went on to work at Marshalls of Cambridge and then into civilian ownership. Obviously, over its working life it must have been well-maintained doing such important work (and hopefully seldom used as a crash vehicle) and consequently survived in such a state to be a worthy contender for restoring, building on its inherent preservation and originality and going on to have a new life as a classic vehicle worthy of a Land Rover collection and gracing any show. Our marque enthusiast/engineer vendor purchased this vehicle as a project a couple of years ago and has meticulously restored it back to its original rescue vehicle condition. The work done to it includes its original chassis being fully cleaned and coated in two-part epoxy, the fitment of a new Autosparks wiring loom, a full engine (being a slightly newer and possibly a replacement unit) and gearbox rebuild, the addition of an original Winkworth bell and original search light, a stainless-steel exhaust, new brakes and brake lines (with original calipers being reconditioned) and new Avon Traction tyres. The original panels (left in their preserved state) were treated to a full respray. This charming Land Rover is accompanied by a copy of its RAF Vehicle Card documenting its history, plus a book entitled British Military Land Rovers in which it is mentioned.Often restored and rebuilt but rarely to this standard, this lovely Series I is now ready to be enjoyed once again, be that starring in a period drama, gracing the aerodrome at a vintage airshow, or looking the part at a 1950s re-enactment gathering – it would be superb at The Goodwood Revival, or simply ambling to a country pub on a Sunday, a delightful vehicle to own and appreciate.  SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: SERIES 1Year: 1955Chassis Number: 270600871Registration Number: CAS 389Transmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 86100 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

A simply astonishing 'as new' Defender cherished by a real enthusiast; regularly serviced and stored in A1 condition.   The icon. As much a part of British car culture as the Mini, the Jaguar E-Type or the Ford Escort - perhaps even more so. Though officially only known as a Defender from 1990, as a rebadge of the previous 90 and 110 models it was instantly familiar given the evolutionary relationship with the Series Land Rovers that preceded them. To the layman, the different versions have almost become interchangeable, not least because each represents the utilitarian, unpretentious, rugged off-roader that made Land Rover famous. The Defender itself evolved gradually over its quarter-century on sale, gaining new Ford engines and the odd interior tweak. Perhaps the most significant change, however, was nothing that the Defender did it all - it was in trendy metropolitan elites adopting it as their carriage of choice, taking the Land Rover legend from the country into the city. As such it became popular with both cattle herders and yoga instructors and is now reflected in a replacement new-era Defender that’s as good up to its axles in clag as it is carving through SW1.The car presented here, a high specification 2012 XS TDCI, is perhaps a real sweet-spot in the evolution of the Land Rover; still with the endearing Land Rover feel and classic shape of old, but by now Defenders gained a cleaner Euro5 engine, a 2.2-litre Ford-sourced Duratorq diesel unit, fitted with a diesel particulate filter. Other updates - ventilated disc brakes, the option of more comfortable seats and upgraded stereo equipment - were more minor, but then the previous 2007 upgrade had already introduced a redesigned gearbox, extra sound insulation and a smarter, slightly more car-like interior. This particular car is one very special example, a real collector’s choice - with a discerning specification, including Corris Grey bodywork with a Santorini Black roof, four half-leather seats (heated in the front), black Alcantara headlining, a tow bar and side-steps - its real point-of-difference is the 16 miles only it has covered and the ‘better-than-new’ showroom condition it remains in.Owned and cherished by a dedicated marque enthusiast, it was the last Defender build slot ever issued to the Stratstone Cheltenham Land Rover dealership. It was collected by our vendor in an enclosed transporter from new, tucked away and meticulously stored (its underside having a regular WD40 wipe-off) in in a purpose-made ‘Carcoon’, in dark, heated, and dehumidified conditions. It has been similarly transported every year back to the Stratstone Cheltenham dealership for its annual service - the oil is as clean coming out as it goes in! It has never been driven on-road and it has never been wet.Is there a better, lower mileage example out there? Probably not. Needless to say, it comes with 2x keys, every piece of paperwork (all in plastic wallets), including all service receipts, MOTs, its original sales receipt from Stratstone, and two pages from the production line. Sold with the cherished registration ‘S22 HUE’ - reference to its 2.2-litre engine and bearing the famous Land Rover suffix letters of HUE – ‘S90 HUE’ was assigned to the 2,000,000th Defender produced, which famously sold at auction for £400,000.What an opportunity to acquire a collection-ready ‘real’ Land Rover Defender, the likes of which we won’t ever see again, and this is the sort of example of such you’re similarly unlikely to replicate.  SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: DEFENDER 90 2.2 XS TDCIYear: 2016Chassis Number: SALLDWBP7GA488856Registration Number: S22 HUETransmission: Manual Engine Number: 151127012546DT224 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 16 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

One of only 10 built by Vauxhall Dealers, Mamos of Greenford, with only three believed to still exist.A Vauxhall Chevette HS is a rare beast indeed, a Vauxhall Chevette ‘HS-X’ even more so and offers a very interesting alternative to the usual items on your 1980s shopping list.  Based on the increasingly desirable HS Homologation special the HS-X evolved under the watch of Mamos of Greenford, Middlesex, Vauxhall specialists, who described themselves as 'a different type of Vauxhall dealer' and were well known for producing ‘dealer specials’. The idea was penned by David Harley, and was based on the ‘Black Magic’ car by Wayne Cherry, and featured black paintwork rather than the traditional silver. The HS-X package also gave buyers the option to specify the graphics, making each car unique. They were marketed under the banner 'X-Rated. For Adults Only'  a bit corny but it was 1980. 10 cars were believed to have been built with just three still thought to exist.Purchased by the present owner and Vauxhall fanatic some 20 years ago, the Chevette has been lovingly cared for and preserved until this very day, remaining resplendent in its black paint with distinctive red decals. Under the bonnet sits the renowned 2,300 twin-cam unit mated to a 5-speed gearbox, sitting over the rally-bred and upgraded suspension with front and rear spoilers adding to the intrigue. Internally there are reclining front seats, extra dials, 2-speed wipers and floor to door carpeting for which you had to contribute an additional £1,400 over and above the list price, a King’s ransom back in the day!  Expertly restored including the recently rebuilt engine, this HS-X must surely represent what is one of the most desirable Vauxhalls of the era and one that would grace any serious collection. One caring owner from new, 12,948 careful miles and looking particularly svelte in Argento Auteuil, this is a very special GT4.Introduced at the 1973 Paris Motor Show, the Dino 308 GT4 was a significant departure for Ferrari in several ways. It was the first production car from Modena to feature a mid-engined V8, a layout that would become common to their core range for decades to come, along with the first production model to feature Bertone styling rather than Pininfarina bodywork. The chassis was based on the Dino 246 but was stretched to make space for a 2+2 configuration and the 3.0-litre V8 was integrally joined with the gearbox and featured an alloy block and heads with dual overhead camshafts fed through four Weber 40 DCNF carburettors. The styling was controversial at the time, with some journalists comparing it to the Bertone-designed Lancia Stratos and Lamborghini Urraco, and the proportions gave traditionalists an attack of the vapours but, as is often the way, Bertone's styling effort probably looks better now than it ever has. For all this, the car was a huge success being bigger and more usable than any other mid-engine car had managed or would manage for a while. More than 3,600 were sold, dwarfing sales of V12 models and showing Ferrari the way forward. Today, these '70s Ferraris have come of age with their classic looks and brilliant handling and are as fast as you are ever going to need in the real world, with a top speed of over 150mph and a 0-60mph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds.Delivered new in May 1978 by H.R.Owen, this exceptional Ferrari Dino 308/GT4 has covered only 12,947 miles in the hands of its only owner. Purchased new by his Mayfair-based PR company for his private use, it was subsequently transferred to him personally in June 1985 and has formed part of a small exclusive collection for the last 44 years. Complete with its original owner's handbooks and service book corroborating the very low mileage. It has a full service record and a belt change 120 miles ago in 2017 and is supplied with a spare rear light cluster and various front bumper parts. It's finished in Argento Anteuil, which makes a refreshing change from the normal red, yellow or blue and the interior is in grey leather. The whole car is in lovely condition and is ready for a new owner to enjoy this versatile and practical Ferrari which has been cherished by its one enthusiast owner. The 308 GT4 has been a bit of an underdog for many years but, as a drivers' car, it's superb in every way and has earned the right to call itself a 'Ferrari'. Recent results have witnessed a lift in prices as the collectors' car world wakes up to the potential of these great little Ferraris.SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 308Year: 1978Chassis Number: 13880Registration Number: VUC 761STransmission: ManualEngine Number: 13880Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 12000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: GreyClick here for more details and images

A delightfully restored example of the 500F Nuova (1965-1973) which featured conventional doors, a folding sunroof and a bit more power. On offer here is a delightful Fiat 500F finished in Aquamarine with a period-correct red and cream interior. Introduced in 1965, the F featured conventional doors a shorter sunroof, strengthened transmission and a little more power.WGU 476F was purchased in 2017 by our vendor after having had the bodywork refreshed but still in need of a little ‘TLC’ to bring it up to the next level. With that in mind, a schedule of works was embarked upon which was to include a full mechanical overhaul including the sensible decision to fit an all-synchromesh gearbox together with a full suspension strip and rebuild with all components refreshed or renewed as required. With the focus on keeping as close to the factory specification as possible, the interior was correctly retrimmed including the ribbed rubber matting alongside a new folding roof and even the tool kit received careful consideration such has been the attention to detail. Accompanying this outstanding Fiat is a comprehensive history file including an original Italian handbook, a workshop manual and factory parts catalogue, various invoices and some rare factory advertising material. Delightfully presented and offering a much- improved driving experience, this is one ‘Cinquecento’ that would be happy within any collection or being used as intended, as a fun urban run-around and, on offer at No Reserve, may be the bargain of the day. SpecificationMake: FIATModel: 500Year: 1968Chassis Number: 1868041Registration Number: WGU 476FTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 110F000Drive Side: Left-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 75350 Make: LHDInterior Colour: Red / Ivory VynilClick here for more details and images

A superb, UK-supplied, right-hand drive 550 Maranello finished in classic colours with gleaming Rosso Corsa paintwork, Crema leather seats and Rosso carpets offered from long-term private ownership.Firmly placed in Ferrari's history as one of their finest modern era big GTs, the 550 Maranello's combination of elegant lines and legendary front mounted 12-cylinder engine, meant that these cars had the potential to become instant classics. The 48-valve, 5.5-litre V12 developed 485bhp at 7,000rpm and the 6-speed manual gearbox complements a slightly more even torque curve, ensuring that the power delivery was a little less frenetic, whilst excellent weight distribution and delightful road manners make the 550 Maranello a truly refined driving machine, whilst still capable of almost 200mph. Offered here at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2022 is a superb Ferrari 550 Maranello supplied new by JCT600 Specialist Cars in April 1997 finished in classic colours with Rosso Corsa paintwork, Crema leather interior and matching Rosso carpets. Coming to market from 16-years private ownership and indicating 54,244 miles on the odometer supported by a comprehensive service record.Overall, the 26-year-old Ferrari presents very well, the Rosso Corsa paintwork retains an even finish and deep gloss across the bodywork with uniform panel gaps, the wheels present well and black brake calipers show nicely through the alloy spokes. Inside the cabin space is a factory, special-order Bordeaux leather dashboard that really sets this 550 apart from others and looks fabulous. The leather seats are in good order with minimal wear relative to their age and the limited electronic gadgetry tested appears to function well. Absolutely on-the-button, the 550 fires into life and sounds strong and healthy with no adverse smoke or sounds and we understand that on the road the Ferrari performs well due to its comprehensive maintenance over the years and stops well with well adjusted brakes and  matching premium-brand tyres on all four corners.Accompanying the 550 is a history file with Ferrari book pack including a service book stamped up-to-date with 16 stamps from Ferrari agents or specialists with the most recent entry a belt service in 2019 at 54,202 miles. Also within the file are paper invoices supporting many of the services and other maintenance along with old registration documents, Tracker paperwork, spare key and fobs (including the red one) and a wealth of old MOT Certificates with the most recent valid until August 2023. In the car is the tyre inflation system, Ferrari tool kit and a trickle charger to keep the battery maintained when not in use.In summary, this is a lovely 550 Maranello that has clearly been well maintained and has covered a 'sensible' mileage, meaning that it's a car you can continue to use as intended on long road trips without feeling guilty about racking up the miles. Offered at a sensible guide, this lovely modern-classic Ferrari may well turn out to be one of your better decisions.SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 550Year: 1996Chassis Number: ZFFZR49C000108275Registration Number: P261 AWTTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 54500 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: CreamClick here for more details and images

Lot 656

Just as you would hope to find one! An unrestored, single owner, hot-hatch legend with a comprehensive up-to-date service history and just 57,000 miles. It’s the early 1990s, and the 1.8-litre Clio 16v is locked in combat for hot-hatch glory with the ageing Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9. It’s a better car by many objective criteria, but not a convincingly faster one and, in the eyes of many, the GTI still holds the crown. It took a truly special car to convincingly wrestle supremacy away from Peugeot, to really bury the old-timer and to refine the class in the process. That car was the Clio Williams.Sold with the compelling marketing strategy of an F1 team association, the Williams was actually an homologation special in the familiar mould. It was built because RenaultSport wanted to go rallying and the class maximum displacement stood at 2.0-litres. Given this was still the era of homologation into classes A and N, Renault simply had to build 2,500 road cars to qualify, although it would eventually build many more. The initial production run of the Clio Williams was limited to just 5,400 examples, of which only 390 arrived in the UK.Naturally, RenaultSport did a thorough job. The suspension used a reinforced front subframe borrowed from the Clio Cup racer, plus uprated springs, dampers, rear torsion arms and thicker anti-roll bars. The track was increased by 34mm and the 7J Speedline alloys were half-an-inch wider than the 16v’s and distinctively gold. The gearbox was stronger, too, with revised ratios. There was just one exterior colour offered for the first generation of Williams – ‘449’ Metallic Sports Blue – and the cumulative effect of body (already blistered of arch, front, and rear, and bulging of bonnet from the 16v), paint and those golden wheels was as close to hot-hatch perfection as many felt it was possible to get. It's a small car with a wheel pushed to the very extremity of each corner; a little shorter, slightly wider, and significantly lower than a Clio 172 or 182.Codenamed ‘F7R’ and developed from the 16v’s 137bhp F7P unit, the new engine featured a longer stroke and bigger bore size, and benefitted from a stronger crankshaft (borrowed from the diesel Clio) plus new pistons, camshafts and conrods, with bigger valves and a lightweight exhaust manifold. Output was now 148bhp at 6,100rpm and 126lb/ft at 4,500rpm, not enormous by today's standards but 85% of the torque was available from 2,500rpm and the car only weighed 981kg. The car presented here is a 1994 Renault Clio Williams (Phase One), #0114, and was originally supplied through Trenton Renault of Hull to its first owner, who kept and treasured this cracking car right up until last year when, sadly, it passed to a family member (but not being registered to them, so this is a 0 previous owners car). It has been indulged from day one, being undersealed from new, always garaged, and annually serviced. The indicated mileage of 57,964 is fully verifiable, supported by its bulging history file and the car really is as good as it looks, having the sort of preservation and mechanical health that you'd associate with single-person, long-term, dedicated ownership. The current custodian has lost access to his storage so is reluctantly selling it, understanding that to keep such an original and low-mileage example in tip-top condition is a commitment and is perhaps best done by an marque enthusiast. To honour the car's superb condition and maintenance history, our vendor has made sure the car was fully serviced (on 02/12/21 at 57,628 miles, costing £1,460.99) making it absolute A1 and ready for sale (including a new timing belt and all auxiliary parts, plus five new Michelin tyres, even down to a repaired oil sender dial). These very special performance hatchbacks are now rare; even rarer in this sort of condition with one owner and a very worthy addition to any car collection based on its status, history and amazing state of conservation.SpecificationMake: RENAULTModel: CLIOYear: 1994Chassis Number: VF1C57M0510844744Registration Number: L910 DUETransmission: Manual Engine Number: 00C5561 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 57000 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Williams Click here for more details and images

Right-hand drive 599 GTB fitted with the HGTE handling pack and less than 14,000 miles. The Ferrari 599 took over from its predecessor, the 575, in the summer of 2006 and brought the front-engined V12 Grand Tourer into the modern age. Whereas the 550 and 575, even at their introduction, always felt like modern classics, the 599 was every inch a new-age Ferrari. The all-aluminium chassis, F1 SuperFast gearbox, F1-Trac stability and traction control, magnetic semi-active dampers and carbon-ceramic brakes all wrapped in aggressive, aero-optimised bodywork with minimal overhangs and maximum presence. Top billing, though, went to the engine - a lightly modified version of the Enzo's 6-litre V12 with a mighty 611bhp at 7600rpm, endowing Ferrari's new series-production flagship with truly sensational performance with 0-62 in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 205mph.The Handling Turismo Evoluzione (HGTE) package was designed to deliver a more dynamic driving experience. The technical modifications included a modified set up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the magnetorheological shock absorbers and most notably yellow brake callipers. A letter from Ferrari, dated July 2016, within the car's history file, confirms that this 599 GTB (ZFFFD60C000164311) was built in right-hand drive at Maranello during September 2008 prior to being shipped to Hong She Motors Pte. in Singapore where it was registered SKX 1223K on 10th March 2009. It was imported to the UK in September 2016 by noted trader Michael Wise and sold via Foskers to our vendor who has owned it since.Within the file is a Foskers service invoice dated September 2019 and a further invoice from them in August 2021 detailing a 20,000 mile service with wheels refurbished, two new shock absorbers and new front tyres, totalling £7,502. Also within the file is a stamped service book from Singapore, all the import documents as well as its UK service records and its UK V5C. We understand the car is fitted with an H&P Raptor tracker and the spare key is present.     SpecificationMake: FERRARIModel: 599Year: 2008Chassis Number: ZFFFD60C000164311Registration Number: GD58 FFZTransmission: ManualEngine Number: F140C141705 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 13049 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Bordeaux leatherClick here for more details and images

Rarity, performance, provenance and build quality are all on this amazing Cobra's CV. Perhaps an unrepeatable opportunity?According to the original AC advert for this special car, AC Car Group Limited created the AC Cobra 212 S/C as the evolution of the legendary 427 S/C, which dominated the 1960s and has been continuously bult to order. The 212 S/C was built on the legend of the 427s awesome performance by combining iconic styling with 21st century technologies and materials to meet targets set by ultimate sports roadsters.Factory-built back in the year 2000 this particular car features a 3.5-litre 350bhp twin-turbocharged Lotus V8 engine, mated to a full carbon fibre body which was the largest one-piece construction of its type in the motor industry at that time. This specification led AC to claim it to be, at the time, the fastest accelerating production car to 100mph ever produced. The result was a power to weight ratio of 390bhp/tonne and a 0-60mph time of 4.0 seconds, with 100mph coming up in 9. Top speed was 155mph. Power reached the ground via a six-speed Tremec gearbox and BTR Hydratrack limited-slip differential. Other noteworthy features included power steering as standard and AP Racing dual-circuit servo-assisted disc brakes all round. With its title coming from its engine capacity in cubic inches and the 'S/C' standing for 'Street/Competition', only a few of these cars were ever produced and the right-hand drive example we have has an illustrious history. X577 HRD featured for AC at the 2000 British International Motor Show, indeed its early life was served as the press car for AC and it was featured by Car Magazine, Evo, Octane and Top Gear magazines. It also made an appearance on the Top Gear television show and was driven by Jeremy Clarkson, Mark Blundell and Damon Hill along with a further appearance on Jeremy Clarksons video Top 100 Cars.Pleasingly accompanied by a factory hard top, wet weather equipment and the interior features the additions of a CD Player and full intercom, with headsets and microphones. The seats were retrimmed within the last 4 years in the correct grade of Alcantara. As you would expect of a car of this significance, this AC is accompanied by a fully documented history which contains its original build information, press cuttings, and a plethora of invoices for work carried out over the years. Furthermore, as you can see from the pictures X577 HRD also features in Trevor Legates book "Cobra. The first 40 Years" and the vendor has generously included a copy with the car. The current indicated mileage is just over 22,000 miles. All things considered, Silverstone Auctions are extremely proud to offer such an interesting piece of British Automotive history to the market. Everything is on tap here, rarity, provenance, performance and high quality. We welcome and encourage interested parties to come see the car during the NEC Classic Car Show weekend itself. SpecificationMake: ACModel: COBRAYear: 2000Chassis Number: SA9AC2120XA017518Registration Number: X577 HRDTransmission: ManualEngine Number: N2LL918000930Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 22024 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 752

Superbly prepared and totally user friendly, this is a right-hand drive, recreation of Porsche's circuit only, 964 RS N/GT.In 1992, Porsche introduced the Carrera RS, a lightweight, rear-wheel drive only version of the 964. The RS was fitted with individually selected engines of type M64/03 which had a minimum power output of 260hp and a lightweight flywheel coupled to the state-of-the-art G50/10 gearbox which featured closer ratios, an asymmetrical limited slip differential and steel synchromesh. The car’s interior was stripped out and was devoid of luxuries such as electric windows, rear seats and air conditioning. Leather Recaro bucket front seats and lightweight carpets were fitted and the sound deadening was much reduced. The bonnet was made of aluminium, the chassis was partly seam welded, thinner glass was used in the doors and rear window, and overall the RS was 155kg lighter than the standard car.The Carrera RS was further developed by Porsche in 1992 with the launch of the N/GT and a total of just 290 of these very special cars were put together, all in left-hand drive. These cars were further stripped-out with all the carpets removed and replaced with plywood foot-boards for the driver. A fully welded cage was fitted and the standard RS seats were replaced with lightweight, Nomex-covered, FIA specification racing buckets. The N/GT also featured a long-range fuel tank, dual internal fire extinguishers, internal dash mounted engine cut-off and the DME was relocated behind the driver to allow the use of six-point harnesses. Harder and more track focused, the result is a car which felt more direct and visceral than the standard RS whilst still being usable on road or track. With genuine RS N/GT being thin on the ground, expensive and only available in left-hand drive our vendor decided to create his own. This particular RS N/GT tribute has been created utilising a Porsche Championship-winning, right-hand drive, 964 race car known as ‘The Goose’, now exquisitely reimagined as it is presented today. With the initial intention being track day focused, this outstanding example was completely stripped to bare metal before having the body fully refurbished and refinished in Porsche Maritime Blue with the same care and attention lavished on the interior, engine bay and front compartment. The engine has just been totally rebuilt including new engine casings due to a hair line crack being detected, now refitted and fully detailed, so fresh in fact is the rebuild that a period of running in is highly recommended to get the very best from this potent 911.With the fitment of a lighter, more progressive clutch, this particular 964 is now far more user friendly and presents an ideal opportunity for possible track or fast road use depending upon what its new owner has in mind. We understand that the car is now lighter and faster than a standard 964 RS and is offered at a fraction of the cost of the real deal.An outstanding 911 that will surely provide much enjoyment be that out on the open road or circuit based.SpecificationMake: PORSCHEModel: 964Year: 1989Chassis Number: WPOZZZ96ZK5401353Registration Number: F435 DDYTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Blue / BlackClick here for more details and images

The final competing WRC99 example in the world. Highly revered, hugely successful and fresh from a total rebuild, Chassis #15 is on the market for the first time in nearly 20 years.Over the course of its life in the World Rally Championship with the works 555 Subaru World Rally Team, the Impreza scored an impressive 46 victories and 122 podium finishes in 193 World Rally events, claiming 6 World Rally Championships in the process. The car presented here is 1999 Subaru Impreza WRC example, chassis PRO GC8-99.015, built in late 1999 by Prodrive. Chassis #15 is one of only 27 WRC99 examples produced and was originally owned and registered by Prodrive as ‘V100 ALL’. It was utilised as an ‘Allstars’ car being driven by Holowczyc Krzysztof (with co-driver Fortin Jean-Marc) on two WRC events, namely the Swedish International Rally on 10th February 2000 as car 22, and by the same pairing as car 26 on the TAP Rallye de Portugal 2000 on 16th March 2000. Subsequently, Chassis #15 was totally re-prepared and later in 2000, was sold to well-known Northern Irish driver and businessman Andrew Nesbitt, now bearing the registration ‘V10 WRC’ and its famous ‘Cuisine de France’ livery. He and co-driver James O’Brien campaigned the car for 18 months, winning six events, including the Shell Donegal International Rally, breaking all previous records by taking the fastest times on all  22 special stages, and going on to win the Irish Tarmac Championship.  In 2002, the car was subsequently sold to Niall Maguire who converted it to right-hand drive and competed in the National Championship of Ireland, which he won in 2003. Our vendor bought the car from Maguire in March 2004 and has owned/campaigned it ever since, this being a long and fruitful custodianship. He has used Chassis #15 on all home national/international rallies including Jim Clark, Killarney, West Cork, Waterford, Wexford in Ireland, Bethune Rally and Rallye Charlemagne in France, Mull and Isle of Man; the last of these being the Pentraeth Glyn Memorial Stages in November 2021. The car is presented to auction in immaculate condition, having been the recipient of a full bare shell rebuild (costing £50,000), only 800 miles ago. With absolutely no expense spared and with a full photographic record, the work included an engine prepared by Graham Sweet of GT Motorsports Ltd., a fully rebuilt gearbox (£5,500) by Autosportif Engineering Ltd., new front hubs and new rear hub bearings, a new tubular front cross member (£3,000), a new Inconel exhaust manifold (£5,000), and a new AP clutch; the Reiger 3-way suspension had the fronts re-gassed and oiled, whist the rears were rebuilt. The bag tank is valid until 2024 (which can be extended by 2 years), with Motordrive seats (2022) and harnesses (2022), Lifeline Zero 360 fire extinguishers (serviced March 2021) and a Peltor intercom. The car has been solely prepared and run by GEO Preparation of Bromsgrove whilst in our vendor’s ownership.  Chassis #15 is a very well-known and highly revered car, having been hugely successful and reliable in the hands of just three owners (the last of which for 18 years), and is the final competing WRC99 example in the world – a testimony to its diligent ownership. The car's status and achievements are fully documented on the ewrc-results.com website: https://www.ewrc-results.com/carinfo/38-subaru-impreza-s5-wrc-99/?car=851This is a very special car, and we invite any interested parties to come and inspect it. They won’t be disappointed. Its quality is clear both ‘in the metal’ and in its achievements.  Complete with a huge spares package, the car will come with a carbon-fibre lamp pod with Hella hid Zenon lenses and halogen corner pods, a bespoke stainless-steel tundish and dry break, 4 x refurbished magnesium 6-spoke Speedline wheels, a pair of brand new AP front discs with bells fitted, 1x set front/rear Mintex pads, 1x spare clutch (re-shimmed), new front/rear bumpers plus splitter, original Prodrive Bilstein dampers, alternative springs for Reiger dampers and 100 litres of 102 octane fuel.Available by separate negotiation are: 30+ magnesium alloy wheels (12 x original 6-spoke Speedlines), springs, driveshafts, clutches, complete turbo (0 miles since rebuild), new throttle motor, new rad pack and fans, new intercooler (needs headers fitting), s/h exhaust manifolds, a new steel front wing and new steering rack, plus more.     SpecificationMake: SUBARUModel: IMPREZAYear: 1999Chassis Number: PRO WRC GC8-99.015Registration Number: V10 WRCTransmission: ManualDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: RallyClick here for more details and images

One of just nine right-hand drive examples of the 60 Series 2 Aero 8s, this one-owner from new Morgan has been fastidiously maintained and has aged particularly well.Released in 2000, the Aero 8 was Morgan’s first properly ‘new’ car since their financially underwhelming Plus 4 Plus of 1964, and personified the fabulous notion of traditional styling with modern underpinnings. Ditching Morgan’s tradition of using an aluminium-skinned wooden body with a heavy steel chassis, the Aero 8 was revolutionary for both Morgan and the wider sports car world, as it featured an all-aluminium bonded chassis.Designed and engineered in-house with a ‘form follows function’ undertone, the main principle of the car was lightweight luxury. The interior features a comfortable combination of polished hardwoods, hand-stitched leather and electronic technology to create a driving environment that is efficient, ergonomic and sumptuous. Despite all this opulence, the driving experience is hugely responsive, largely due to the overall weight of the car remaining minimal at 1,180kg. Unusual as it does not feature anti-roll bars, the Aero 8 walked the fine line between sports car and supercar. Originally fitted with BMWs thumping-yet-smooth M62 4.4-litre V8, the Series 2 was upgraded to the N62 4.4 litre BMW powerplant, pushing out 333bhp and 450Nm torque, mated to an uprated 6-speed Getrag gearbox resulting in 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 160mph.This rare example is made all the more special due to its single 17-year ownership. In excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically, this enthusiast-owned example stands its ground very well as a strong part in Morgan’s recent history. The maintenance and general care that this car has experienced through its life is evident in its outstanding condition. It's superbly presented in the lovely colour combination of Bentley Silver Pearl Metallic paint over Old Yarwood Red leather and the interior remains fresh without the usual heavy bolster wear on the driver’s side. With a valid MOT until 23rd August 2023, this Aero 8 has covered just 36,483 (atoc) miles from new, averaging a whisker over 2,000 miles a year. Contained within the significant and comprehensive lever-arch history file are details of the full Morgan agent service history from new, with any and all maintenance work undertaken and documented, along with the original owner’s handbook and associated Morgan documentation.Despite receiving initial criticism for its seemingly ‘cross-eyed’ look, the Aero 8 has aged remarkably well, with its unusual appearance now being a huge factor in its desirability. With its striking looks, rarity factor and a rumbling 4.4-litre V8, you will certainly turn heads for all the right reasons. The cherished registration number, V33 ATE, will remain with the car.SpecificationMake: MORGANModel: AERO 8Year: 2005Chassis Number: SA9ER080004J0329Registration Number: V33 ATETransmission: ManualEngine Number: 5275Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 36453 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Old Yarnwood Red LeatherClick here for more details and images

1972 MGB Roadster, registration number DAY 720K, with V5c. Fitted with 1800cc four cylinder engine coupled to a four speed and overdrive gearbox, the vendor purchased the car in 2019 but sadly health reasons mean its now being offered for sale and it was driven to the auction. Work done whilst owned by the vendor includes 5 new tyres, new hood, complete stainless steel exhaust system, battery, new needles and jets in the carburettors, electronic ignition and door cards, in addition to usual oil, filters and other servicing. The history folder has receipts for many of these items along with further history and old MOTs, the V5c records four previous owners and the paperwork present suggests one of them had the car from 1981 to 2003 and an engine rebuild has been undertaken circa 1986. 1934 Riley 9 Lynx car, registration number CRF 902, with V5c and 1970s buff logbook. Purchased by the vendor's late father in 1997 via Orchid cars, a letter on file lists works undertaken in the previous year including John Kirkby white metal work, David Newman camshafts, Riley Register pistons, gearbox rebuild, Wessex radiators recore and a full retrim in leather with new carpets. The vendor reports his father drove around 100 miles in the whole time of ownership, apparently not getting on with the gearbox, as such it is believed that the car has covered under 500 miles since the works were undertaken. After the death of his father the vendor has changed the oil with Penrite oil and started the engine which ran and the car was moved out onto the drive and back into the garage but not taken out on the road. The vendor discovered that some pinprick holes had developed in the fuel tank and obtained a quote of £400 to remedy this issue, but has left this for the next owner to decide which path to take with regard to the tank.10%+VAT buyer's premium on this lot

Lot 204

c.1901 Cottereau et Cie 7hp Project Registration no. not registered Engine no. 65•Short-lived French make•Rare example•Incomplete•Offered for restorationFootnotes:Like so many of its contemporaries, the company founded in Dijon by brothers Louis and Henri Cottereau began life as a bicycle manufacturer before turning to the automobile. Built in 1898, the brothers' first offering was a light car, which was powered by a 5hp v-twin engine and featured a three-speed gearbox and chain final drive. In 1900 the engine was enlarged to 9hp and wheel steering adopted in place of the original handlebar. The majority of the 1901 range was made up of twin-cylinder models, although Cottereau also offered a single-cylinder Benz-like car and a 10hp four. A comparatively large concern, Cottereau made virtually all elements of its cars in house, thereby avoiding the potential problems caused by components of sometimes variable quality sourced from outside. Characterised by Hotchkiss-style round radiators, the 1906 range was Cottereau's most extensive, featuring single-, twin-, three-, and four-cylinder models of varying power outputs, the largest being a 24hp four. Despite having a lot to offer, Cottereau went into decline from around 1908 and before the year's end was reorganised as Constructions Industrielle Dijonaise (CID), while the motorcycle side of the business was sold to Terrot. CID offered two lines of product: a light car and a larger model featuring rotary valve engines, and survived for only a few more years, closing in 1914. Consisting in the main of a rolling chassis with engine and carburettor, this incomplete 7hp twin-cylinder Cottereau was discovered in France 18 months ago. It is a rare car - the VCC has only ever come across one Cottereau twin before - and this one almost certainly dates from 1901 (wheels of equal size were introduced for 1902), while the water-cooled cylinder heads indicate it is the larger, 7hp model. The transmission and bodywork are missing, as is the crankshaft, con-rods and pistons, but the cylinder bores and all the valves are in good condition. A challenging project admittedly, but one that nevertheless has the potential to reward its restorer with a powerful early twin. Offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed, the Lot includes NOVA details and period articles and a catalogue copied during research undertaken at the VCC library. This Lot is available to view at Classic Car Storage near Petersfield, Hampshire (by appointment with the Car Department only) from Monday 24th October to Wednesday 2nd November. It will then be available to view at Bonhams, 101 New Bond Street on Friday 4th November from 10am.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
