1929 Singer Junior 4-seater saloon, reg. no. VX 1239. 848cc engine, 3-speed gearbox. The vendor's husband describes the car as follows:"An older restoration but drives perfectly on the road. Driven and seriously campaigned by the same owners for 57 years. Two gearboxes, a petrol tank and radiator to go with the car.The Singer was bought from a scrapyard in Stanway, Essex, by local resident and vintage motoring enthusiast, Harry Booth, sixty-four years ago. It was in reasonable working condition and Harry’s daughter, Merriel, aged sixteen, decided it would be an ideal car in which to learn to drive. The extensive yard in front of “The Old Cottage Paint Shop”, Harry’s business in London Road, Stanway at the time, proved ideal for Merriel to practice gear-changes and become familiar with the controls of an elderly car, its accelerator between the clutch and the brake. But on returning from work one afternoon, she discovered that her Dad had sold the Singer to a couple from Great Maplestead who had answered an advertisement for a 1930s Sunbeam which he had for sale in Exchange and Mart. David and Sylvia Rouse were keen vintagents but decided that the Sunbeam was not for them and asked Harry if he had anything else he might like to sell, whereupon he suggested the Singer. A deal was done, the princely sum of £5 changed hands and the car was driven back to Maplestead, but when David opened the door, a mouse jumped out. That was in the summer of 1962.Returning home from work that evening, Merriel was most disappointed to discover that the Singer had gone. Some thirty years later she came across the car at a rally and declared, “That’s my car!”, to a surprised David Rouse who initially doubted her story, but after being shown a photograph of Merriel sitting on the bonnet, doubted no longer. After driving it home and having renewed the magneto cap, David immediately began to use the Singer as everyday transport travelling to and from Marconi in Chelmsford, where he worked as Patents Officer, twenty miles each way for nine months after which he decided that a major overhaul of the car might be sensible. He and Sylvia subsequently used the car mainly for Vintage Sports Car Club events, covering more than 44,000 miles whilst competing in hill climbs, driving tests, navigational rallies and tours. They were adamant that the car should never be trailered and would drive frequently as far as Llandrindod Wells, for example, on a Friday afternoon averaging 30mph or so, in order to compete on the Saturday. David kept a detailed record of every journey, time taken, average speed, oil used, and petrol consumed; it makes fascinating reading. On one occasion, they had driven from Maplestead to Builth Wells when the magneto began to misfire and the decision was taken to, “return home whilst the engine was still running”, a distance of around 450 miles, almost non-stop.The Rouses owned a number of vintage and classic cars, competing seriously in all of them, but the Singer was one of their favourites which they kept for 57 years. When David died in 2017, Sylvia decided that the time had come to sell the collection, but two remained, a BSA that had been David’s first, and the Singer which, when Merriel asked whether or not it had been sold, Sylvia replied, “But it’s yours if you’d like it.”Merriel has been its custodian since 2019 but it is now time for a new owner and the Singer will be sold at auction, all proceeds going to St Helena Hospice, Colchester".It is supplied with a massive history file, including photographs, which is a joy to read. A truly loved old car. (Subject to 12% buyers' premium inclusive of VAT).

Registration – YA63 KGG Chassis No. – MLHPC44B9D5003638 M.O.T. – NO Odometer – 10,126 The Honda CBR500R and its siblings, the fairing free CB500F and adventure bike styled CB500X were launched in 2013 to take advantage of the then new A2 license regulations. This limits output to 47bhp and top speed to 112mph. ‘YA63KGG’ represents the sports tourer of the trio with a bright sporting livery and a fully faired in presentation. The current owner acquired ‘YA63KGG’ in September 2023 to become its seventh keeper and covering around 2,000 miles in his tenure to bring the total to a shade over 10,000 miles. ‘YA63KGG’s advisory free MOT expired in February 2025 so a retest will be required before road use. Despite the restrictions required for A2 eligibility, the CBR500R is noted for its impressively sporty dynamics and modest running costs. ‘YA63KGG’ is offered here with NO RESERVE and boasts a partial service history with independent specialists. In January 2013, new A2 motorcycle license conditions were introduced allowing for the introduction of models with a power output of no more than 47bhp to be ridden by those over 19. Honda introduced their new trio of 500cc models to specifically cater for this niche and ‘YA63KGG’ is from that stable. Being a CBR500R iteration is boasts an impressively sporty demeanour with a crisp red, white and blue livery applied to a rakish full fairing and associated bodywork. The dainty, black alloy wheels combine with black finished engine parts and matt trim pieces. It’s a great looking bike with a low rider saddle height and a higher mounted, occasional pinion perch. ‘YA63KGG’s’ bodywork is vendor rated as “average” with the paintwork and rider environment judged as “good.” ‘YA63KGG’s’ liquid-cooled, DOHC, 8v, parallel twin, engine delivers that A2 specific 47 bhp and power is routed to the rear wheel via a six speed manual gearbox. The engine is considered as a torquey and rev-hungry unit that can deliver plenty of thrills despite its modest output. The vendor reports that ‘YA63KGG’ is “mechanically sound with engine, transmission and electrics all rated as “good.” In summary: · Compatible with use on an A2 license. · A light, lithe and sporty looking all-rounder. · Complete with a partial service history and a sensible original mileage.

Its second owner had it from 1989 to 2005, after which it moved to an Irish dealer. After being sold on from there, it was restored by its next keeper, which included a full strip-down and repaint in Opalescent Silver Blue with grey hide in preference to its original Sable Brown with Cinnamon trim. Chrome wire wheels were added along with a Coombes bonnet. Fitted with power steering. The engine and gearbox were rebuilt as part of the restoration. However, post-refurbishment, the Jaguar covered around 200 miles before its owner decided it was too good to keep mainly standing around in his garage and decided to part with it. Our vendor purchased the Daimler from our November 2022 sale but due to other interests has not had time to enjoy it, not driving it at all over the past year. The history file is extensive, with the current and previous V5Cs, photos of the car prior to its restoration, sales brochures and servicing and maintenance records back to when it was new. There's also the original owner's handbook and Heritage Certificate. 41,371 recorded miles

1980 Laverda Jota Mk 2, 180, 981cc. Registration number PNS 600V. Frame number LAV.1000*6914* DGM 12571 OM. Engine number 1000 *6914*. Sold with the V5C, V5, two keys, large history folder.Laverda began with the manufacture of farm machinery, diversifying into production of small capacity motorcycles in 1949. Increases in capacity and variations of design (including a scooter) followed over the years. They eventually offered a large-capacity 650cc twin in 1966, which was soon enlarged to 750. In 1969 Laverda exhibited their first three-cylinder machine which was to take until 1972 before being offered to the public as the 3C, later becoming the 3C(E). At the instigation of the British importer, Roger Slater, performance was enhanced by Laverda and the 3C(E) became the Jota. The 180 had the distinction of being the fastest production motorcycle in the world in the late 1970s, at over 140mph.The Jota model ran from 1976 through to 1982 and is powered by a 981cc DOHC air cooled inline triple with a dry weight of 234 kg. Originally fitted with a crankshaft with 180° crankpin phasing and ignition timing on the right hand side of the engine till 1980. Then in 1981 the ignition timing which was by then electronic, was moved to the left side and in 1982 the Jota 120° was released which had the crankpin phasing to 120°.PNS comes with a copy of Slaters import document dating from 1979, noting it went to Lloyds Bros in August 1980. In 1996 Tom Mitchell sold it to Stuart Oram and then Donald Drawbell in 1999. He sold it to Dr Murphie in 2005 and in 2014 it went to Paul Miles. In November 2016 Made in Italy sold it to Charles Rising for £15,000, he sold it to our vendor in 2017 using the services of The Bike Specialists in Sheffield. In 2015 it underwent a full restoration with Keith Nairn Of Lavenda Scozia, including new main/big ends, cylinder head overhaul, new mainshaft for the gearbox, the carbs were rebuilt, full stainless exhaust, brakes rebuilt, powder coated frame, all new bearings. There are MOT's on file from 1996 at 17,010 miles, rising slowly, 20,418 miles in 2003, 24,861 miles in 2016 and the last one was in 2019 at 26,998 miles. The odometer today shows 27,201 miles. This suggests it is the correct mileage and it has only covered some 3,000 miles since the rebuild. Our vendor has had it running before it was delivered to the saleroom.

1986 Suzuki RG500. Registration number D329 XJU. Frame number HM31A-104582. Engine number 105483.Sold with the V5C and keys.Derived from Suzuki’s 500cc RG Gamma XR45 factory Grand Prix racer, the Suzuki RG500 was a road-legal replica racer produced between 1985 and 1987.Barry Sheene achieved back-to-back 500cc championship titles in 1976 and 1977 before the Gallina Suzuki team repeated the feat five years later with riders Marco Lucchinelli and Franco Uncini in 1981 and 1982.To capitalize on their reputation Suzuki decided to develop a production version of its competition square-four machine based on the XR45’s race-bred 130 hp unit. The engine produced 95 hp at 9,500rpm and 53ft-lbs of torque at 8,000rpm. Weighing in at just 340lbs dry, the RG500 offered a top speed of over 130mph and could achieve quarter-mile runs in 11-seconds. The engine had rotary valves and twin-cranks, it featured Mikuni 28mm flat-side carbs, an exhaust utilizing SAEC (Suzuki Automatic Exhaust Control), a six-speed cassette-style gearbox and thermostatically controlled liquid-cooling.XJU is a UK from new bike, and can be traced back to Steven Brown in 1998, at this time is was black/yellow, then came Antony Cunro in 2001 and our vendor bought it from him in the same year. 1927 Raleigh 248cc. Registration number OP 5370. Frame number J10406. Engine number 10364.Sold with the V5C.Although known today mainly for its bicycle output, the Raleigh company was once one of the leading pioneers of the British motorcycle industry, building motorcycles first from 1899 to 1905 and then again from 1919 to 1933.The Model 14 was typical of Raleigh’s output, and of affordable motorcycling generally, during the Vintage years. Built from 1925 to 1927, the 248cc single-cylinder SV four stroke engine and three-speed Sturmey-Archer gearbox made for a bike which, by the standards of the day, was conventional, straightforward, easy to ride and economical. OP has been owned by our vendor for eight years and regularly ridden, a proper oily rag machine. The acetylene lamp system is fully functional and a bulb horn is fitted.

In a BSA team led by Jeff Smith he rode Goldies in the 500 class, winning the British Championship in 1959, until the factory switched to the C15-based 250s. The Lampkin family do not need any other words, they are probably the most famous family in off road motorcycling in the world! This bike is fitted with all the "Works" mods, floating front brake, inside footrest exhaust, box air filter, alloy petrol tank with works dents, central steel oil tank, low rise BSA pattern braced handlebars, Scrambles gearbox and competition Lucas Mag.Since completion it has been dry stored and will need commissioning before use.
1986 Yamaha TY250, 246cc. Registration number C181 JGL. Frame number 59N 001784. Engine number 59N 001784.Sold with the V5C, Yamaha dating letter, expired MOT.Having come to dominate the spheres of road racing and moto-cross, the major Japanese motorcycle factories turned their attention to the trials world in the early 1970s, recruiting top British riders to assist with machine development. In Yamaha’s case this meant Mick Andrews, late of Ossa, who began work on the TY250 in 1973. A conventional, air-cooled, single-cylinder two-stroke equipped with Yamaha’s reed-valve induction, the TY250 proved good enough for Andrews to win the arduous Scottish Six Days Trial in 1974 and the model went onto establish a formidable reputation in observed trails. Mono-shock rear suspension and a six-speed gearbox were among the innovations tried, both of which later found their way on to the production model. This example was first registered in the UK in 2018 to Martyn Smith, who fully restored it, our vendor bought it from him and has used it very lightly.
1936 Riley Lynx Tourer, 1596cc. Registration number CON 59. Chassis number 27L 5887. Body number 5443. Engine number TBC. Sold with the V5C, keys, history folder. Produced from 1936 until 1938 when Nuffield took over the company, the Riley 1½-litre, is a range of cars that were available with saloon, touring, and sports/racing coachwork, The car is powered by a four-cylinder 1,496 cc with one or two Zenith carburettors. It was advanced for its day with twin camshafts mounted high in the engine block, cross flow head on some versions, and Zenith or twin SU carburettors. A Wilson re-selector gearbox is used. The chassis had half-elliptic leaf springs all round and drive was to the rear wheels through either a four-speed preselector or manual gearbox. Girling rod brakes were fitted. At launch three body styles were available: the Kestrel 4 light fastback saloon, the Falcon saloon and the Lynx open tourer. Of all the new 1½ Litre models, the Lynx was the least changed from its 12/4 predecessor. The chassis featured the same upgrades as the Falcon and Kestrel which were the only other bodystyles carried forward, but the Lynx body was carried over virtually unchanged. It remained the only 4-seater open car in the range, although by the end of 1937 production had almost ceased as the publics love of open 4-seaters had faded.Conny has been owned by our vendors father from the mid 1980's until his passing a 4 years ago. According to the V5C she has only had 3 owners since 1936. He was a very competent engineer and had a collection of Marston Sunbeam's that Spicers sold in 2020. Every winter he would take the Lynx off the road and strip her down for a thorough check over and service. This is evidenced by the good condition of the chassis and running gear, when photograph we released the hand brake and she effortlessly was pushed out. The engine has been turned over by hand but no effort has been made to start her. The ash frame appears to have been replaced in the rear section but the front is original with both sides having the body number stampings. The body now has considerable paint patina but appears to have no corrosion. The hood is in OK condition, as is the hood bag and full tonneau; there are thee window panels for each side.
1966 Yamaha YG1 (1963), 74cc. Registration number GAT 985D. Frame number Y20 87050. Engine number G1 87050.Sold with the V5C, V5 and one key.In 1963 Yamaha introduced the YG 1. It had a number current state of the art touches such as turn signals, drum brakes, pressed steel frame and a megaphone exhaust. The 74 cc single cylinder, air cooled, rotary valved engine delivered 6.44 HP through a 4 speed gearbox for a rumored top speed of 60 MPH and 170 claimed MPG. The oil mix was specified at 20:1 and you mixed it yourself. The first pre lube models were very quickly superseded by a pre mixed version and this example is one of the first that was not sold and put into storage. In 1966 Yamaha massively reduced the price of the model resulting in the DVLA dating of 1966 for this example.GAT, a local Hull bike, was first owned by Terrance Rowden of Hull, he sold it to Charles Kettlewell in 1999 and then it was owned by Ricky Gamewell in 2013, our vendor buying it in the same year. It has been part of his collection since that date. Sold with several spares bought to restore but never used.
1960 Velocette Viper, 350cc. Registration number 716 KVK. Frame number RS 14048. Engine number VR2221.Sold with the V5C, V5, VE60 and a large detailed history folder.Engine development pursued as part of the Velocette factory's scrambles programme bore fruit in 1956 in the shape of the high-performance Venom and its 350cc sibling, the Viper. The MSS frame and forks were retained for the newcomers, but full-width alloy hubs were adopted to boost braking power, and smart chromed mudguards fitted to enhance the models' sporting image. In 1960 'Clubman' versions of both were introduced, minus the enclosure panels of the standard models, which featured a raised compression ratio, Amal TT carburettor, 'racing' magneto, rear-set footrests and a close-ratio gearbox among many other improvements. Produced until the end of Velocette production in 1971, the Venom/Viper in its various guises represents the final glorious flowering of the traditional British sports single.KVK has a VE60 stating its engine to be a 500cc MSS in Durham in the early 1970's, with its owner being Leslie Witten and then Donald Green. Our vendor bought it from him in 1985 as a retirement project. This was started in 2006 and the correct Viper 350cc engine VR2221 was fitted, over his ownership he has kept a detailed record of all works undertaken, including overhauling the magneto in 2014 and wiring loom in 2016. Since the restoration he has covered some 7,954 miles. It should be noted that both the oil and fuel have been drained and that the frame and tinware are hand painted.
Lotus 23 B Type ProjectUnregisteredBeing sold without reservePurchased by the owner in 1981With two doors (not photographed on the car), a Series II Lotus Twincam engine, a Renault gearbox, a differential and other partsFile with a small amount of correspondence, a group of photographs and copy informationBeing sold due to poor health and the owner having given up drivingAlso see the owners Lotus Elan DHC and Caterham Super 7 projects in this auctionwith a box steel and not round steel frame this is not an original Lotus 23 B, hence we have called this a 'Type'From a leading authority on Lotus 23 B cars:the engine is a series 2 Lotus Twincam, probably taken out of an Escort judging by the shape of the sump. It had a 6 bolt flywheel attachment which theoretically means that it cannot have started life in a 23b. It looks pretty standard to me. The gearbox is an early Renault unit similar to but not the same as that used in the 1100cc 23's. The bell housing at the front of the box is unusual and may fit onto a ford cylinder block, if that's the case then it must be some sort of specially made part probably for some sort of ford powered mid engined car like a formula junior but not a Lotus as they had a different design to this. The differential is not a part I recognise at all, it looks like a conversion of a ford Atlas axle maybe but with drum brakes I cannot think of a car it might have come from. All lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Britain in the Blitz Willys MB Jeep A World War II period Willys MB Military Jeep with rear canvas tonneau & hoops, spare wheel & spare fuel can on the back. There are no apparent markings or data plates on the vehicle but it does have spark plugs on top of the engine rather than angled ones, a split windscreen with no name on it & a 9-slot front grille. The vehicle looks to be in very good, complete condition but will need some attention, having stood as a static display in the Britain in the Blitz Exhibition since 1984.1977 this jeep was almost certainly used in the production "A Bridge Too Far" as were most of the Lamanva vehicles.Provenance Ex Lamanva collection Cornwall until 1984 since then at FlambardsPurchasers may need to comply with The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 The jeep is not currently running however the motor appears complete,it has not been possible to turn over by hand, it is not known where the jeep was sourced from no paperwork exists & no chassis numbers have been located, there are no identifying data plates There is some rust in the drivers floor pan and outer skin, the supporting frames look relatively good. There are some old riveted repair patches added inside the outer edges of both footwells and rusting in both of these regions. There is a rust hole at the back of the rear toolbox, some damage to either end of the front bumper, one of the blackout shrouds is missing from one of the headlights, the radiator filler cap is missing and there is general wear and bodywork knocks as to be expected on a vehicle of this age and use. The engine will not turn over by hand and we cannot determine the condition of the engine, gearbox or running gear.
Registration No: MOX 13 Frame No: 90763 MOT: ExemptReported to be 'in running order'Offered with a paperwork file that includes receipts and the old buff logbookAn ‘easy to manage’ sporting 1950s AJS singleThe AJS 500cc Model 18 and AJS Model 18S are 500cc British motorcycles almost identical to the Matchless G80 and both were produced in the same Associated Motor Cycles (AMC) London factory from 1945 to 1966. These bikes represent the end of the era of big British singles, as when AMC merged with Norton production concentrated on twins. The AJS Model 18 was developed from a design from the 1930s, despite which it was still being manufactured 30 years later. The 18 was updated when a springer frame rear suspension was made available for 1949, to become the Model 18S. Presenting as an older restoration of the 500 OHV AJS model, this example is reported to be 'in running order', however, a new owner would need to carry out the usual checks prior to use. A reluctant sale, prompted only by the vendor's advancing years, the machine is offered with a paperwork file that includes an old buff logbook, a current V5C, an original parts book, owner's handbook, receipts (including those for a magneto overhaul) and old MOTS. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an ‘easy to manage’ sporting 1950s AJS single. Please Note: The gearbox fitted to this motorcycle is not the original, however, the original (with reported third gear fault) is supplied with the machine. Registration No: NMC 32R Frame No: 45792 MOT: ExemptRare prototype Harris TriumphMagazine featured and owned for 36 yearsRestored to a high standardThis very special machine was purchased some time ago by the current owner. Dismantled for around 8 years before that, the overhaul started in earnest with the engine and included new bearings, pistons, new conrods etc; Phil Pick from Triple Cycles overhauled the gearbox. To aid the restoration, the current vendor visited Harris Performance with some pictures. The vendor was informed that Lester Harris told him it was 'one of three prototypes for track testing and racing whilst the other two did not survive due to crashing'. Said to have been raced previously by Jim Wells, in F750 and Endurance, the Harris was taken back to Lester to have a look at and at that time some work was carried out by him, which included a fork brace, battery box, chain guard, a one-off exhaust system, and a White Power suspension spring. All the wheels were overhauled at the time, with new bearings and tyres and tubes. The amount of work that has been carried out has been listed by the current vendor. It was subsequently featured in the July 1989 'Performance' magazine once completed. We have been advised the Harris Prototype is 'running very well' and should be a delight for its new owner. It is offered with a current V5C and various paperwork. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217
Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 1548 MOT: ExemptThe 'big brother' of Veteran Douglas machinesRestored by the current ownerOwned for over 20 years, mainly in AustraliaNOVA number on fileThe Douglas Brothers, who started up in 1906, acquired the design of a flat twin-cylinder engine from J. Barter's defunct Light Motor Company enterprise, Barter coming to work for Douglas. Having two cylinders horizontally opposed 180 degrees to each other was much the same elegant solution to twin-cylinder engine design as adopted by over fifty other motorcycle manufacturers, although Douglas chose a longitudinal layout for their early twins. To meet the demands for greater power, Douglas introduced the 3½hp Model A for 1914, with a 494cc side-valve engine and two-speed gearbox. The Model B shown here, with kick start, cone clutch and footboards, cost £4 more at £62. The production of civilian machines continued alongside machines for the armed forces until 1916, after which all output was taken by the British Army. This 1914 Douglas MKodel B 500cc has been with the current vendor for over 20 years, during which time he has restored the Douglas to a good standard using many original parts where possible. This is the larger capacity machine being the 500cc flat twin with lots of torque and was only produced for a short time. Having spent most of its life in Australia, the Model B was brought back to the UK when the owner moved back. There is a NOVA number on file for the new owner to get it registered for the UK. Only run static since completion, some light fettling would be required before use. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217
Registration No: POF 580 Frame No: 3519 MOT: ExemptPurchased in the late 1970sIdeal Gold Star replica projectOld RF60 and continuation logbookA DVLA V5C on fileThe Birmingham Small Arms factory was established in the Small Heath area of Birmingham in 1861 and as the name suggests manufactured weapons. Around the turn of the century, they started making bicycles and progressed onto motorcycles a few years later. BSA went on to be one of the world's largest producers of motorcycles up until its demise in the early 1970s. Probably the most sought-after models produced by BSA were the Gold Star range of 350 and 500cc singles and the rare Rocket Gold Star 650cc twin of the late '50s/ early '60s, the Gold Star the most replicated of them all. On offer is a 1954 BSA 350cc Gold Star replica, this machine is based around a 1954 BSA B31 frame with a standard gearbox and a BSA BB32 Gold Star engine. It appears the BB32 engine was fitted to the frame around 1974/5, according to the continuation logbook. Sadly, not much history is known from when the late vendor purchased the machine, but appears that some work has been carried out. It is offered as a restoration project requiring checking over before use. The BSA comes complete with a DVLA V5C, an old RF60 logbook, a continuation logbook and an old MOT certificate from 1977.
