Lot 172

2004 Aston Martin Vanquish to S-Specification Transmission: automaticMileage:19700The Vanquish is widely accepted as being one of the most important cars developed by Aston Martin and heavily influenced the direction of the company's line-up of sports cars in recent times. So much so, in fact, that the Newport Pagnell factory underwent an extensive refurbishment to accommodate it, gaining a new assembly line, paint shop, rolling road and water test facility. The genius that is Ian Callum, who developed the DB7, then turned his attention on the new Vanquish using a bonded aluminium tub as the core as well as carbon fibre struts welded to the backbone. All new engine management systems were used with drive-by-wire throttle control and a six-speed manual gearbox with an electro-hydraulic change mechanism matched to a hugely powerful six litre, V12 powerplant. It was an instant success and was the obvious choice for the nation's favourite secret agent. Sadly, it was the last Aston Martin to be built at Newport Pagnell with all future cars moving to Gaydon and using more production line-based build systems. The near-perfect and bespoke example offered here today was ordered at the Park Lane showrooms of Aston Martin by a gentleman from Surrey and registered in March 2004. It was fully equipped with all the latest extras including Connolly leather and Wilton carpeting throughout costing the princely sum of £165,000. The car presents with a full service history with, notably, a new and uprated 'S' clutch fitted in 2013. The mileage at that time was 15,683 however, the vehicle had very little use since that time as it changed hands to the present owner in March 2014 with the mileage showing just 15,753. During the current ownership it has been looked after regardless of cost and always serviced by accredited Aston Martin specialists and with the full-service history maintained. The current mileage is still only 19,700 so, amazingly, this has been kept and maintained regardless of cost, and benefits from a full-service history with just two recorded owners. Additionally, we are led to believe that the first owner always kept the car garaged as part of his private collection as indeed has the current owner. A new set of tyres were fitted in April 2020 with such a low mileage, this represents a well-deserved place in the annals of Aston Martin history as not only one of the last cars ever to leave its spiritual home but uprated to S-Specification and kept in truly remarkable condition throughout.

Lot 154

1994 Ferrari 456 GT Transmission: manualMileage:60209Introduced at Garage Francorchamps, Belgium in 1992, the 456 was Ferrari's attempt to produce a motor car that was somewhat different from their usual offerings. The idea was to generate the space and comfort of a Gran Turismo (GT) whilst being the most powerful 2+2 in the world. The 456 GT incorporated features familiar to generations of Ferrari cognoscenti with the front mounted four-cam V12, rear transaxle, tubular steel space frame chassis, and all-independent suspension remaining, whilst an electronically controlled adaptive suspension and a six-speed gearbox made its first appearance (an automatic gearbox was also an option). Power was supplied via the nearly 450 horsepower V12 that produced a massive 398 ft lb of torque at 4500rpm. Variable ratio power steering, three-way adjustable suspension dampening, self-levelling rear ride height and a speed-activated rear spoiler ensure the handling is up to the performance. The interior was well appointed with features you expect from a luxury motor car. Aerodynamically efficient with a subtly beautiful curvaceous body, the 456 remained stable up to its maximum speed of around 190mph, a figure that made it the world's fastest production four-seater passenger car. This superb example of this iconic front engine V12 Ferrari is presented in the best colour combination of dark metallic blue with a crème leather interior. It comes with the desirable manual gearbox and a very good service history, with it being serviced at yearly intervals over the last few years by the well-known Ferrari specialist, Rardley Motors Ltd in Grayshott, Surrey. The history file is very concise with many old MoT test certificates, records showing the car's past ownership and many invoices chronicling the various owners' expenditure on the Ferrari making certain it has been kept in fine condition mechanically and cosmetically. We believe its paintwork is original and is in good general condition with the interior also in good general condition with the only sign of wear and tear being on the driver's side bolster. A fabulous example which also comes with its own soft car cover and still exudes panache and style even after nearly 30 years.

Lot 239

1994 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur III Transmission: automaticMileage:56000The Silver Spirit III and Silver Spur III were introduced in 1993 featuring engine improvements, more power and some cosmetic updates over the earlier models; the Silver Spur being the longer wheelbase version and the independent adjustment of the rear seats. The interior was dominated by the expected combination of fine wood and leather and interestingly was also the first Rolls-Royce to be fitted with a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy mascot atop the radiator grille. This beautifully maintained example with 19 service stamps recorded, as well as two additional recent service bills, was the property of a retired Army Colonel who has both looked after it and maintained it without regard to cost. The car is finished in dark metallic blue paintwork to the exterior and has clearly been always garage-kept. The magnolia leather interior is in excellent condition, piped in dark blue with blue carpets and highly figured burr walnut. The headlining is also unmarked magnolia hide with additional occasional tables fitted for rear passengers. There is no corrosion evident under the bonnet, wheel arches or bumper surrounds, all usual hot-spots. The air conditioning blows cold and the engine runs silently with the gearbox seamless and imperceptible in operation. A good Spur is often hard to find and this example is certainly hard to fault, especially with a comprehensive history file and both factory owner's book packs. A full pre-sale service and check-up has also been performed by noted Rolls-Royce experts, Colbrook Specialists immediately prior to the sale.

Lot 250

1960 Triumph TR3A Transmission: manualMileage:55883The Triumph TR3 was built between 1955 and 1962 and was usually supplied as an open two-seater, although an occasional rear seat and bolt-on steel hardtop were available as extras. It was powered by a 1991cc engine which initially produced 95bhp increasing to 100bhp at 5000rpm. The four-speed manual transmission could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956, the front brakes changed from drum to disc becoming the first British series production car to do so. Because of these disc brakes, the TR3 became known for its superior braking ability, making it an autocross favourite.Presented in red with a desirable white hardtop, this magnificent example of the iconic British sportscar boats just four owners in its entire life. Offered with a large history file which contains information going back to 1985 when the second owner, a Mr. Howard purchased the car requiring full restoration. An electronic ignition was fitted, and the gearbox completely overhauled with a new clutch for good measure. The front suspension was updated and braided hoses fitted alongside new side screens rebuilt with a matching hood and tonneau. The third owner fitted a front anti-roll bar, and all the suspension bushes were polybushed alongside narrow V-belt pullies (less friction) and alternator. The car then took part in numerous rallies such as the TR Register Pyrenees tour in 1995 and the Millennium Tour in 2000.In 2012, the car was completely stripped and painted by Bristol Classic & Sports Cars in Clevedon. Contained within the history file are approximately seven A4 size sheets of paper with 35 photographs per sheet recording the recommissioning in 2015, we believe this included twin choke Weber carburettors, servo brakes and electronic fuel pump before tuning on a rolling road. You will be pleased to know that the car comes with old logbooks, tax discs and the factory hardtop which was also restored in 2015.Looked after and cherished without regard to cost, this TR3A with overdrive performs amicably in rallies but would be equally at home on the road and the bills and invoices over the years add up to thousands and thousands. 1998 Bentley Azure Widebody Symbolic Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:35000The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and was based on the platform of the Continental R which had been launched in 1991. The Azure intended to both convey a sense of presence and allow for comfortable seating of four adult passengers. Power came from the company's stalwart 6.75 litre, V8 featuring a single intercooled turbocharger. The gearbox was a General Motors sourced four-speed automatic unit with the Azure capable of 0-60mph in an impressive 6.1 seconds. Owing to the limited space at Bentley's Crewe factory, the Azure was designed and manufactured by Pininfarina, significantly adding to the vehicle's production cost. This unique and desirable Azure Symbolic Edition is finished in a special-order Mendip Blue (an Aston Martin colour) in deviation from the black that the other six cars were finished in with magnolia leather hide interior. A Mulliner commissioned example; this car had a number of non-standard features spanning two pages on the supplied specification details report. Sitting on 18" chrome wheels, this example also boasts the T-style console, Burr walnut veneers, the removal of side repeater flashers, flared arches, Bentley wings in the door waist rails and an uprated 420bhp engine boasting 875nm of torque to mention but a few of the non-standard features from new. The car was originally supplied to Bentley San Diego on 1st May 1998 and imported to the UK in 2018 from Florida with 13,000 miles on the odometer, where the seller informed us it had just had a $10,000 overhaul including the replacement of the hood hydraulic lines unfortunately, we do not have invoices for this within the history file. Since its arrival in the UK, the car has been cared for by Bowling-Ryan Ltd, Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists in Bolton with the most and recent service in August 2022 coupled to previous services in 2018 and 2020. Supplied with handbooks, an MoT test certificate with no advisories and valid until April 2024, the Azure is not only one of the best cars to cruise the French Riviera but it is uniquely specified and rare which increases its potential for strong collectable values in the future.

1971 Lotus Europa Twin Cam Transmission: manualMileage:76000The 1971 Lotus Europa Twin Cam is a classic icon that epitomises automotive engineering excellence of its time. With a mid-mounted 1.6 litre twin-cam engine, it delivered an impressive blend of power and agility. Its innovative fiberglass monocoque chassis contributed to its lightweight design and exceptional handling. The distinctive, low-profile body showcased a timeless aesthetic, marrying form and function. The Europa Twin Cam's impact reverberates through automotive history, leaving a lasting impression as a driver-focused sports car that pushed boundaries. Even today, its influence can be seen in the principles that underpin modern performance-oriented vehicles.Owned by the vendor since July 2019, this car has had £14,000 spent on refurbishments and improvements to make an excellent ready-to-drive, useable example, with a high degree of originality. A substantial folder of bills and photographs describe the car's history up to the present day. In addition to the V5C registration document in the vendor's name, there is a Lotus Classic Certificate of Vehicle Provenance, issued to David Golding Cars of Dublin, from December 2012 which confirms the VIN and engine number as original, and the car's delivery to Lotus dealer, Foley Park Motors of Kidderminster in November 1971. Tax discs from the 90's show the car spent time in the West Midlands before being exported to Dublin, returning to the UK around 2012. The Lotus certificate states the car's colour as Carnival Red. Extra options recorded were alloy Lotus wheels and air horns. In the history file there are several MoT test certificates dating back to 2012, showing the mileage figures and a Lotus Europa owner's handbook from 1971. All work since July 2019 is documented in bills from Lotus specialists, Rapid Mechanical Services (RMS) of Romford, with numerous older bills dating back to 2013. The car was resprayed to the original colour sometime in the 00's with photos of that work also contained in the history file. RMS were commissioned by the vendor to complete £14,000 of work which included reconditioning the original gearbox, starter motor, reconditioning the Dellorto carbs and refurbishing the original radiator, installing a new fan, thermos switch, coolant transfer pipes and alloy expansion bottle. Head and sump gaskets were fitted as was a rear main oil seal and water pump. In addition, the car benefitted from a new coil and HT leads, new adjustable suspension dampers and coil over springs, a modern alternator, new battery, battery isolator, electronic ignition and modern headlights. We are informed that the car drives really well as a result of this work. It is light and highly sensitive to driver input. The 650kg weight and twin overhead cam Lotus head and refurbed Dellorto carb's transform the Ford 1558cc engine's performance, while the new suspension units do the same for the handling. Not quite 'blistering' by today's standard, but surprisingly quick and precise. A unique driving experience. You have to get used to people taking photos/selfies and answering questions!

1975 Ford Escort RS1800 Rally Car Transmission: manualMileage:The squarer-styled Escort Mk. II appeared in January 1975 with the first production models having rolled off the production lines on 2nd December 1974. Unlike the first Escort (which was developed by Ford of Britain), the second generation was developed jointly between the UK and Ford of Germany. Codenamed 'Brenda' during its development, it had the same mechanical configuration as its predecessor; the estate and van versions even used the same panel-work as the Mk. I but with the Mk. II front end and interior. The car used a revised underbody which had, in fact, been introduced as a running change during the last six months of the life of the Mk. I. The car was a success with just four body styles competing in a variation of market niches where rival manufacturers had multiple models. The 'L' and 'GL' models were mainly purchased by the private sector; the 'Sport', 'RS Mexico' and 'RS2000' in the performance market; the 'Ghia' for an untapped small car luxury sector and 'base' models for the fleet market. The Escort continued to prove hugely popular with buyers in Britain during the second half of the 1970s, but production slowed and after an incredibly popular model run, ended in Britain in August 1980 with other countries following soon after.Built around one of the spare shells provided to Ford South Africa for their works rally team, it is reported that this RS1800 was bought by the well-known and respected Italian driver, Piazza Musso when the South African Ford team closed. Along with the unused shell and another, he also acquired direct from Ford South Africa many spares including; gearboxes, axles and suspension. UK based and well-regarded Escort rally specialists, Phil and Mick Squires were asked to travel to South Africa to complete the builds and compete in the sister car. By the end of the event, a deal had been struck to buy the car offered here. Mr. Squire even remembers having the factory 'Team Span' stripe stickers included in the deal, which are fitted to the car to this day. Before the car was sold, its 2.1 litre engine was removed as it would not have been legal to run in UK competition. Upon its arrival to the UK, the car was sold as a rolling chassis to the vendor who prepared the car to BTRDA specification, originally in the 1600cc class and latterly the 1800cc class. The car enjoyed good success between 2003 and 2009 winning several rallies in its respective classes before being converted to period specification to compete in the Historic Rally series, before later that year being put into long term storage.Full specification of the car can be seen in its history file, but highlights include; 2.0 litre three stud BDX competition engine with 48 Weber carburettors, AP racing twin plate clutch, Tony Law manifold and exhaust system, Terry Samuels built gearbox, works wiring loom, safety devices roll cage, four link box turrets, large differential housing with Atlas limited slip differential, GP4 adjustable pedal box, Bilstein shock absorbers, GP4 adjustable front struts with roller bearing top mounts, 'Monte Carlo' brake calipers and dry sump oil feed system. Supplied with a V5 registration document and fitted with a new starter motor, this piece of rallying history is ready to hunt down victories once more.

2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R Transmission: automaticMileage:25389The GT R is a high-performance variant of the Mercedes-AMG GT and was introduced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2016. The M178 engine in this variant is tuned to an output of 577bhp and with 516 lb ft of torque. The GT R accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph. While the GT R retains the key mechanical differences the GT C gains over the GT S, it also gains manually adjustable Coilover springs, an active underbody fairing, a manually adjustable rear wing, and a nine-mode AMG Traction Control system. When it was launched, the GT R had several cosmetic changes compared with the standard car, notably the vertical slats in the front grille, an adjustable rear wing, new front air intakes and new front and rear diffusers. The styling of the GT R is more comparable to that of the AMG GT3 race car. For the 2018 Formula One World Championship, the GT R became the official Formula 1 safety car and during the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix, the safety car ran a red livery rather than the traditional silver to commemorate Scuderia Ferrari's 1,000th Grand Prix start. For the 2021 F1 season, the GT R Safety Car permanently wore a red livery rather than the traditional silver to increase the chances of drivers seeing the Safety Car in poor visibility and shared the role with the Aston Martin Vantage. The GT R completed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife track in 7:10.92, in a test conducted by German magazine Sport Auto making it the fifth fastest lap time for a road-legal production vehicle around the track at the time. This example of the GT3 RS crushing GT R is presented in matte grey with contrasting black alloy wheels and boasts the uprated race seats to what is a fabulously plush cockpit given the incredible potential of this car under the bonnet. The 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine sounds incredible on start-up and being mounted so far back it is referred to as a front mid-engine example. With the gearbox over the rear puts the majority of the weight over the rear wheel drive axles producing a fabulously balanced car.Having covered a mere 25,389 miles, in August this year this example received it most recent Mercedes-Benz dealer history. This car was driven for the Historics 'Driving in Cars' series found on the Historics Auctions YouTube channel and Historics ambassador and auctioneer Vicki Butler-Henderson can testify to the incredible performance level with or without the traction control system engaged.Watch the Historics driving in cars episode featuring this AMG GTR!

1994 Land Rover Defender 90 County Transmission: manualMileage:99196The Land Rover Series I was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years through various evolutions before becoming the Defender, though the design stayed largely un-changed. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin. This Defender has lived a relatively sedate life, it was with its original keeper, a Mrs Doyle until 2012, before being bought by our vendors neighbour, Mr Litton, in 2012. Our vendors neighbour decided to treat himself to a brand new Defender when he retired, but decided he wanted a second vehicle to keep the mileage down on his shiny new purchase. Mr Litton fitted the option of a hand controlled brake pedal to the vehicle and when our vendor purchased the vehicle from him earlier this year, he decided to leave it fitted as it wasn't in the way and it may help someone else at a later date. The vendor reports that the speedometer stopped working and had to be replaced some years ago, so the true mileage is understood to be in the region of 120,000. This rugged go-anywhere Defender is being offered without reserve, so why not have a go at buying one of the most accomplished off-roaders?

1958 Austin Healey 100/6 Transmission: manualMileage:2693The Austin Healey 100 was built between 1953 and 1956 by the British Motor Corporation. It was developed by Donald Healey to be produced in-house by Healey's small car company in Warwick and based on Austin A90 Atlantic mechanicals. Healey built a single 'Healey Hundred' for the 1952 London Motor Show and the design impressed Leonard Lord, Managing Director of Austin, so much that a deal was struck with Healey to build it in quantity at Austin's Longbridge factory. The car was renamed the Austin Healey 100. The '100' name comes from Donald Healey who selected the name from the car's ability to reach 100mph as opposed to the Austin Healey 3000 which is named for its 3000cc engine. The final '100' models, 1956's 'BN4' (2+2 seats) and 1958's 'BN6' (two seats) were six-cylinder 100/6 cars. To make room for the occasional seats the wheelbase was increased by two inches. The bonnet had a built-in air scoop and the windscreen no longer folded down.Subject to a full mechanical and bodywork restoration this stunning example was manufactured in 1958. Presented beautifully in green coachwork with a newly trimmed interior in contrasting blood red Nappa leather with new wool carpets and new tonneau cover. Boasting a manual gearbox, this desirable four-seater is UK registered, and the original engine has been uprated and bored out to 3.0 litre, this coupled to a new wiring loom, rebuilt carburettors and a lightened and balanced flywheel, new engine mounts and clutch. The cooling has been uprated with a new aluminium radiator, new fan and new water pump. The fittings are all zinc or stainless steel in the engine bay and the car now also benefits from electronic ignition and disc brakes. A look underneath also gives an indication of the extent of the restoration for what is a great looking car. The most desirable model with the most desirable engine, this example will deliver many more years of driving pleasure with its classic good looks and strong performance this example looks fabulous.

1981 Land Rover Series III 109 Transmission: manualMileage:301Land Rovers were inspired by the US-built Willys Jeep immediately after the war. By 1992, Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had ever built were still in use. Before the war, Rover had produced luxury cars which then ceased to be in demand in the post-war period. Raw materials were also strictly rationed to companies building construction or industrial equipment. Rover's original factory in Coventry had also been bombed, forcing the company to move into a huge factory it had built in Solihull to construct aircraft. The Series III is the most common vehicle with 440,000 built. The headlights were moved to the wings and the traditional metal grille featured on its predecessor, was replaced with a plastic one. The production run for the Series III was from 1971 through to 1985, and during this cycle in 1976, the 1,000,000th Land Rover rolled off the production line. The Series III saw many changes in the later part of its life as Land Rover updated the design to meet increased competition. This Land Rover was originally registered on 25th February 1981 and has been totally and beautifully restored by the knowledgeable and fastidious vendor. The body was removed from the chassis and a new galvanised chassis fitted. The bodywork itself was repaired where necessary and repainted in the traditional colour combination of Sherwood Green with black. The engine was stripped down and rebuilt as was the gearbox. Wolf wheels have been fitted and the interior trim taken care of accordingly. This 109 inch Land Rover has four inward facing seats to the rear and a suitable 'rag-top' for inclement weather. Series III Land Rovers are exceptionally robust and offer the ultimate 4x4 off road experience. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a current MoT test certificate valid until 11th June 2024 and a collection of invoices in the history folder. This model was only in production for three years and to find one in such fabulous condition is a rare treat indeed.

2003 Bentley Azure Performance Final Series Transmission: automaticMileage:15400The Bentley Azure was launched in 1995 and was based on the platform of the Continental R which had been launched in 1991. One of the rarest of Azure developments was the 'Final Series Performance' version, only 62 examples of which were completed towards the end of production during 2002/2003. The 'FSP' was based on the Bentley Azure Mulliner, which came with an engine up-rated to produce 420bhp, suitably stiffened suspension, and various other improvements. This series was commissioned as a tribute to the cars that had marked Bentley's release from Rolls-Royce's benefaction. This Bentley Azure Performance final series is one of 62 ever produced and one of just 15 cars in right hand drive. We are led to believe the car was previously owned by Mr. Duncan, the owner/founder of the 'Henry the hoover' one of which can be found in almost every office in the UK, who owned and cherished this very special Bentley for a decade with the car wore the number plate 'H5NRY' from 2016. Presented in Peacock Blue with a cream quilted leather and French navy blue secondary leather interior and blue roof. This is a lovely low mileage car showing just 15,400 miles since its date of first registration on 27th March 2003. Offered with 17 Main dealer services at HR Owen, the car has within the last 700 miles had over £10,000 lavished on it with service and preparation for sale.General characteristics on the final edition included Bentley-branded brake calipers, a turbo boost gauge on the facia (T series layout), chromed bezels a large red starter button, diamond quilted sports seats and door inserts, a choice of dark stained walnut or black lacquer furnishings and winged Bentley motifs on the waist rails. This is an iconic and rare final series, beautifully presented and very collectable example and viewing is highly recommended.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 420 SL Transmission: automaticMileage:109000These fabulous and popular models were launched at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1985, the 420 SL convertible retained its predecessor's long-running Type 107 bodyshell virtually unchanged. The V8 engined newcomer supplanted the outgoing 380 SL model and was produced alongside the outwardly similar 300 SL 'six'. Its power unit was an enlarged and improved version of the existing 3.8 litre overhead cam Type M116 V8. The running gear followed Mercedes-Benz's established pattern, comprising of independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, while a new five-speed manual gearbox was offered alongside the existing four-speed automatic transmission. A mere 2,148 examples of this luxuriously equipped limited edition model were made between 1985 and 1989.Originally registered on 7th January 1989, this beautiful Mercedes-Benz is presented with a restored bodywork combination finished in metallic grey with a contrasting cream leather interior and new black hood. Clearly a very well cared for example, the cream coachwork presents beautifully as does the chromework. The history file shows an extensive servicing history, many with Mercedes-Benz dealers and specialists prior to our vendor purchasing the car in 2019. After an extensive search for a V8 in this colourway our vendor purchased the car and continued the maintenance by replacing the bulkhead with items from the SL Shop, having the car fully repainted and recently having the gearbox serviced alongside its usual scheduled service, this is coupled to an MoT test certificate valid until June 2024 with no advisories, all handbooks and this six owner example also boasts the factory hardtop. With straight panels and good panel gaps, this R107 is above the level of similar examples offered for sale at comparable prices. Supplied with a V5C registration document, this is a stunning colour combination example of the desirable V8 powered 420 with hard and soft tops for all year-round classic motoring.* Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead which is understood to be F311 FKR Interested parties should note that upon delivery this car developed a small misfire, our mechanic has checked the car and diagnosed that it has developed an injector problem issue on one cylinder and needs replacing. We are informed that this is an inexpensive and simple fix but one we cannot complete at the auction venue, the car has just had a full service including new plugs and the vendor has offered to have the injector fixed for any successful bidder.

1985 Porsche 911 / 930 Turbo Transmission: manualMileage:71800In the early 1970's, Porsche had designs on racing a turbocharged version of the 911 and the Porsche 911 Turbo or 930 was born. It was the fastest production car available on the market. Adding this level of power to the already powerful car created a vehicle that was not for the faint hearted. In skilled hands, however, a 930 will show a clean pair of heels to most of its rivals. It was based around the Carrera RS 3.0, the engine from which was modified, courtesy of turbo technology. Initially, power output was 260bhp but from 1978, it was increased to 300bhp by raising the engine capacity to 3.3 litres as is the case in this instance.First registered on 8th August 1985, this fabulous black on black unmodified genuine C16 UK supplied 930 Turbo is not only stunning but ready to use and enjoy having had thousands lavished on it by our vendor, notably to the bodywork and engine. In addition to the extensive engine work the turbo was rebuilt, a new clutch and gearbox synchros. A recent oil service by Uber GT is coupled to a full engine rebuild by Northway Porsche at 70,000 miles before running in and all of the necessary and recommended work thereafter has been carried out by the renowned Porsche specialists.Evidence of this work is all found within the impressive history file with detailed invoices and comprehensively stamped service booklet. The bodywork is superb with a deep gloss as you would hope with this iconic car and importantly there are no signs of any corrosion, the black leather interior looks original and in keeping with the age of the car with good bolsters and a fine finish. Our vendor informs us that the car drives superbly and the engine pulls as strong as he would hope providing, as it should, a very visceral and engaging experience. The fuel system has had the necessary work to ensure that this 930 drives as you would expect, work includes reconditioned fuel distributor, pressure regulator, along with new coil pack and ignition amplifier. Michelin PS4 tyres were fitted within the last 1,000 miles and it is used regularly to keep the fluids flowing. There is a Blaupunkt Bremen fitted which looks the part of course. Recent work is in excess of £25,000 so you have the confidence you are buying a great car. The 930 Turbo is incredibly collectable, and this example not only has looks to die for but the mechanical confidence to back it up. A true icon and sure to retain its value in the coming years.

1979 Ford Capri Mk. III 3.0 S X-Pack Transmission: manualMileage:71000The Mk. III Capri was launched in 1978 and with a facelift which included quad headlights and wrap around bumpers that offered a more modern shape and improved dynamics which naturally improved the performance and economy. The Mk. II and Mk. III 3.0 litre X-pack special performance options pack was offered between 1977 and 1980. They used a special glass fibre widebody kit made by Fibresports, larger ventilated front disc brakes (retaining the standard drums at the rear), Bilstein gas-filled rear dampers and front struts, an 'anti-dive kit', a Salisbury limited slip differential and a choice of two performance upgrades for Essex V6 3.0 litre engines. The first upgrade, called the Group 1 pack, boost the power up to 170hp. This engine included larger valves, ported cylinder heads and a Weber 40 DFI5 carburettor and other optional performance upgrades. The second option, referred to as X-Pack, offered 185hp and 195 lb/ft of torque, thanks to three Weber 42 DCNF two-barrel carburettors fed by an electric fuel pump, the same ported cylinder heads and larger inlet and exhaust valves as the GP1. It used special head gaskets even though the standard compression ratio of 9.0:1 and standard camshaft were retained. The X-Pack was also equipped with a wing as standard and it featured unique 7.5 x 13" wheels, for which a special body kit was made. The X-Pack included a free-flowing performance exhaust system with distinctive flattened rear ends. The X-Pack Capri could reach 60mph from standing in 7.4 seconds, a full second faster than the standard 3.0 litre Capri and had a top speed of 130mph. These upgrades could only be bought through and fitted by one of the 80 Ford RS Motorsport dealerships in the UK, or a completely new car could be ordered factory equipped through a Ford Motorsport dealer. It is estimated that little over 100 conversions were made. This lovely 1979 Ford Capri Mk. III 3.0 S has the second upgrade pack, the X-Pack, which includes the uprated engine bored out to 3.1 litres, with triple Weber 42 DCNF carburettors putting the power through a four-speed manual gearbox to a Salisbury limited slip differential. Finished in silver with the original checked patterned Recaro seats with tennis racket head rests and RS steering wheel. It has the Pringal RS wheels, full body kit with RS rear spoiler. This lovely Capri Mk. III is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in September 2024 and a file containing some history and paperwork. 1961 Bentley S2 Transmission: automaticMileage:78562The Bentley S2 Saloon and Continental models all received a shot in the arm in 1959 when introduced at London Motor Show, the Rolls-Royce/Bentley straight-six engine was replaced by an all-new aluminium V8 unit. The more muscular engine, producing approximately 200bhp, was designed primarily to deliver more torque, but it also allowed the company to deliver a product more in tune with its rivals in export markets. Of course, there were many rumours as to what the origins of the V8 engine were but Rolls-Royce always maintained it was an entirely in-house effort. As before, the Bentley S2 was a badge-engineered Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II and was built to the same standards and luxury. The 6230cc unit installed in the S2 was smoothly powerful and transformed the Bentley into a grand tourer capable of running silently at speed all day long. Power steering was improved in the S2 but the General Motors automatic gearbox was the same as its predecessor and in fact Rolls-Royce continued to use the gearbox until the introduction of the Silver Shadow. This example is presented in silver/grey with a light grey leather interior. Its interior is showing nice patina and this Bentley was in a single long-term ownership prior to the present owner. From the early 1990s to 2023 the car was stored as part of a private collection until it was sold to its present owner earlier this year and due to ill health, the car is now being offered without reserve. It comes with a current V5C registration document and although the car does run and drive, we advise that due to some work needing to be carried out on the brakes, we do not recommend the car be driven away from the auction and in addition to this, owing to the car being in storage for a number of years, recommissioning will be necessary.

2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante Transmission: automaticMileage:70270Introduced in 1993 to the public, the handsome new DB7 was styled by Ian Callum, its lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen in its design. Arguably one of the most attractive looking cars ever produced by Aston Martin, the DB7 was well received and attracted new customers worldwide with its traditional layout of the curvaceous two-door coupé body. At the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, Aston Martin introduced the six litre Cosworth-designed and built V12 engine, developing 420bhp and accelerating from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed limited to 185mph. Ian Callum enlarged the grille, added fog lamps and restyled the valances to give the car a more aggressive look. This beautiful Aston Martin was originally registered on 22nd December 2002, the possibilities are it was a Christmas present. The Silver Birch coachwork is in great order as is the Parchment interior. The specification includes heated front screen and satellite navigation. We are advised this DB7 drives with no known faults and the Touchtronic gearbox operates as it should. A significant service history accompanies this Aston Martin confirming it has clearly been a very well looked after car. Supplied with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until 27th June 2024 and the original service books, this is certainly one of the prettiest Aston Martin DB7 Volantes we have seen for a while.

1999 Maserati Quattroporte IV Evoluzione (3.2 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:23342Maserati launched its first Quattroporte back in 1963 and has continued to make a version of this luxury four-door sports saloon ever since. The fourth-generation model came out in 1994 and was the first Maserati to be produced under new owners Fiat, who had bought this illustrious Italian marque from Alejandro de Tomaso in 1993. An evolution of the Biturbo platform, the Quattroporte IV was styled by Marcello Gandini (of Lamborghini Miura and Countach fame) and featured his signature slashed rear wheel arch design which had first been seen on the Countach and later on the Maserati Shamal. Initially powered by the 280bhp twin-turbo 24-valve 2.8 V6 from the Ghibli, the Quattroporte IV got the flagship Shamal engine in 1996, a 336bhp twin-turbo 3.2 V8 which gave it blistering performance, 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 168mph. 1972 MGB GT Mk. II Transmission: automaticMileage:74276The MGB was a revelation to the British sports car industry moving away, as it did from body-on-frame models to a more modern monocoque system of construction. This resulted in welcome weight savings, reduced manufacturing costs and far better handling. The sporting coupé, designed by Pininfarina, was only offered in GT form after its sister 'roadster' variant launched 1962. Originally powered by a three-bearing crank engine, this was swiftly replaced by a five-bearing unit some two years into production. Swift performance figures, a sporting pedigree and refined styling lines. The interior was very roomy in fact with space allegedly for four and a large rear compartment, with if the rear seats were folded down, allowed for a very roomy luggage platform. The options list was equally interesting with a heater costing £14, overdrive at £60 and seatbelts at £3 each!Owned for the last 10 years by one man, an early full engine-out restoration took place under his guidance. The new red coachwork has clearly been very well restored and, at the same time, the engine and automatic gearbox was stripped down and rebuilt. The dashboard has been replaced with an upgraded burr-walnut unit which sets of the lustrous paintwork well. A Webasto sunshine roof has been fitted alongside a modern Blaupunkt stereo, both items combine to create a fun driving atmosphere".Interested parties should note that in March 2007 this car was subject to a category D insurance loss.

Such was its success; the SL is still one of the leading cars in the Mercedes-Benz range. This generation of car features the very capable 5.0 litre 302bhp V8 powerplant mated to a standard auto gearbox. The R230 also features the ABC (active body control) which offers the balance of comfort and handling. 1990 Porsche 911 / 964 Carrera Transmission: manualMileage:224831Known internally as the 964, Porsche's new generation 911 debuted in 1989 and was available in two (Carrera 2) and four-wheel drive (Carrera 4) guises with its familiar silhouette clothing a radically revamped platform. Boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.32 thanks to its deeper bumpers, smoother sills and flatter floorpan, high-speed stability was maintained by a self-deploying rear spoiler which rose above 48mph. Throughout his tenure the Porsche was driven regularly, often used for touring throughout Europe and the UK and in particular driving to and from his two homes in Switzerland and Buckinghamshire, England consequently the odometer now showing some 224,831 miles! Meticulously maintained by Autofarm during this time, the car received regular services with no expense spared and was also professionally resprayed circa ten years ago. In more recent years and following the passing of the late Mr. A Oetterli, the Porsche was transferred to his wife who has used the car occasionally. The 964 was more recently subject to a major service and recommissioning by Autofarm at a cost of £5,531 in July 2022 and more recently the decision was made to sell the Carrera 4 after 33 years of single-family ownership. This example has been used as intended throughout its life and comes to the market with a sizeable history file detailing its past, including many invoices for maintenance work, service records and old MoT test certificates. 1936 Riley 12/4 Merlin Transmission: automaticMileage:The Riley 12/4 Merlin is a classic British car, which embodies the elegance and sophistication of the pre-war automotive era. Produced by the renowned Riley Motor Company, the 12/4 Merlin was introduced in the late 1930s, just before the outbreak of World War II, and it quickly became an icon of its time. Under the bonnet of the Riley 12/4 Merlin lies a robust 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine, known for its smooth and spirited performance. The interior is equally charming, featuring plush upholstery and a wood-trimmed dashboard. Not only was the Riley 12/4 Merlin a stylish vehicle, but it also had a strong racing pedigree, participating in various motorsport events of its time. Its nimble handling and responsive engine made it a favourite among racing enthusiasts. This 12/4 Merlin benefits from an older restoration, believed to have been carried out in the 1990's. The overall condition of the car today is one that has developed a lovely patina and can be enjoyed as it stands. The car is presented in a dark green with red wire wheels and a leather interior, a colour combination which suits the car perfectly. One of the main features of this example is its pre-select gearbox, a system which proved very popular on pre-war cars and can be a fantastic gearbox, once you are used to how it operates. A pre-select gearbox allows the driver to select the next gear they wish to use, then a simple dip of the clutch engages the next gear when desired. This 12/4 Merlin is being sold without reserve, our vendor purchased the car from a local gentleman earlier this year and has realised the car just isn't getting the use it deserves, so he has chosen to pass the car to its next custodian, instead of seeing it sit idle.

This was mated to a four-speed pre-selector gearbox via Daimler's patented fluid flywheel. Suspension was by semi-elliptic springs and beam axles all round and braking by Girling servo-assisted drums. The total production of E20s was some 873, of which some 35 are known to have survived, making it a rare car today. Daimlers were the sole royal appointment cars up to 1950 and this magnificent 1936 example is very much in this tradition.Originally registered on 29th July 1936, according to the current owner, this Daimler E20 has only had two owners throughout its 80 years on the road and has covered the remarkably low mileage of 80,498. 1985 Jaguar XJ-SC (3.6 litre) Transmission: automaticMileage:26743The Jaguar's XJS was launched in 1975, its twenty one year production life was a testimony to the excellence of its basic design. With all round independent, coil sprung suspension, power assisted rack and pinion steering and disc brakes, its excellent ride/handling balance was justly praised by the contemporary motoring press. The XJS's original 5.3 litre developed some 295bhp in later fuel injected form and when allied to automatic transmission gave authoritative 150mph performance but did suffer from very bad fuel consumption. Many would argue the 3.6 litre AJ6 unit is the sweet spot, with ample power and far better fuel economy. The targa element of the XJ-SC was often preferred over the straight convertible as it added more torsional rigidity and so increased performance. This example is a true piece of Jaguar history, it is a pre-production XJ-SC built in 1983 in left hand drive form, then converted to right hand drive by the factory before being delivered to its first owner. Benefitting from the Getrag five-speed manual gearbox, this example is a true driver's car, quite opposite to its V12 powered automatic siblings and offers a very different driving experience.  Having covered less than 27,000 miles from new, this XJ-SC presents in very impressive condition throughout and comes to auction with an MoT test certificate valid until September 2024 and is supplied with a comprehensive history file. Although the car is photographed with its factory rear hardtop, the folding rear section is included.

1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Transmission: manualMileage:65The Ford Mustang was the brainchild of Lee Iacocca and was branded as the first 'Pony Car', it was born out of a need to compete with the flood of European sports cars coming into the USA in the sixties. The Mustang was only available as a hardtop coupé and convertible until September 1964, it was the fastback that drew the interest of Carroll Shelby which extended the iconic reach of the Ford Mustang and firmly put it into the category of motoring legends. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market and became a popular car to customise, from engine upgrades to racing stripes, no two Mustangs are often found the same. Ford kept the Mustang relatively cheap with a list price of $2,368, making the car extremely popular. This Mustang is an extremely desirable manual transmission fastback, painted in stunning Ivy Green, which was only available on the 1965 model year. The car was manufactured in Dearborn Michigan in May 1965 and fitted with the optional C-code 200bhp Windsor 289ci V8. The next year an accord was signed with Renault which saw the Renault diamond badge added to the bonnet and the brand name changed to Alpine Renault. This A110 A1300 was manufactured in 1971 as a 1,296cc Berlinette, one of the 693 DinAlpins built in Mexico. 1973 saw Alpine win the First World Rally Championship with the "Group 4" 1,596cc variant and in 1976 Alpine Renault added their 1,647cc engine to form the A110 1600SX on which this car is now modelled. This Alpine was imported into Spain as an A110-1300, converted to Group 4 specification and set-up for Rallies, Hill climbs and Sprints being frequently driven over the last 10 years by husband and wife team Andy and Liz Owler. Finished in Alpine Renault works colours of black and yellow with a black interior, this car caries the livery similar to that worn by the Famous #7, winner of the 1976 "Tour de Corse" as seen recently at Goodwood! Notable is that the livery and graphics have been painstakingly painted on and are not "stickers". This Alpine A110 wants for nothing, is on the button, ready for use in competition or as a great road car! A very capable yet forgiving car in the right hands.
