Lot 965

Fully restored with a myriad of OEM+ upgrades, a simply outstanding example recently finished with a £10,000 respray. It was back in 1970 that Ford introduced their Rally Sport models - the RS range. Originally designed as a way of building limited numbers of homologation specials for serious competition use, it soon grew into a major marketing opportunity, and one that Ford grabbed with both hands. By 1976, when the RS2000 Mk2 was launched, the term RS had grown to mean something quite special. Unlike the Mk1 Escort which was designed by Ford of Great Britain, the Mk2 was a much more sophisticated design that was jointly developed with Ford of Germany. Based on a standard Mk2 two-door saloon shell, the RS2000 used the familiar 2-litre, inline four-cylinder, SOHC, Pinto engine mounted longitudinally in the bay driving the rear wheels. A single, twin-venturi 32/36 DGAV Weber carburettor was fitted with the option of a 'Group 1' dual Weber 40DCNF or IDF set up. The front suspension used independent MacPherson struts with an anti-roll bar and, at the rear, traditional leaf springs with telescopic dampers were utilised. Front-mounted discs and rear drums were used and 4-spoke alloy wheels came as standard. Its biggest distinguishing feature was a droop snoot polyurethane nose housing four headlamps which gave it a rather aggressive look. The new car was capable of 110mph with 0-60mph taking 8.9 seconds, not too shabby in 1976 and which, combined with the car's distinctive looks and that shiny RS badge, set Ford's showroom doors swinging. In late 1978, the Custom Pack became an option and included the following:Fishnet Recaro seats, full door cards, clock and pod centre console, 6J x 13" alloys, boot carpet, remote drivers door mirror and the back panel around the rear lights was painted black.First registered on 13th February 1980, this final year of production car has been subjected to a three-year intensive restoration, making it one of the best RS2000s we've seen, finished to the highest OEM/OEM+ standards with meticulous attention to detail. Mechanically, the engine has been professionally rebuilt and features an FR30 high-torque cam, +0.020 re-bore with new pistons, and all-new components including a Piper stainless steel custom manifold with a full exhaust system, new carburettor, oversized alloy radiator, electronic ignition, and an electric fuel pump with pressure regulator and filter. The original-specification 4-speed Type-E gearbox has been retained and rebuilt with new seals and bearings, ensuring that the car remains intact, as a 5-speed unit would have required altering the tunnel. A new, single-piece prop shaft is mated to a rebuilt rear axle, complete with new bearings, seals, and an overhauled differential with the correct 3.54:1 ratio. The suspension and handling have been improved with one inch lowering blocks at the rear, one inch lowering springs at the front, new rear leaf springs, Gaz adjustable shocks, shot-blasted and powder-coated NOS front struts, alloy front hubs, and a new 2.1 ratio steering rack with track-rod ends, all sitting on new JBW wheels shod in Yokohama tyres ensuring a responsive yet comfortable experience.Cosmetically the car has benefited from a hugely expensive professional respray, correct rear light lenses and a bonnet line that impeccably aligns with the nose cone. Inside, the Aldridge interior has been retrimmed, including seats, carpet and underlay, door cards, and rear quarter trims. The dashboard has a new circuit board for dash clocks, LED bulbs and a rebuilt steering column. The underside has received the same level of care as the interior and topside. No underseal has been applied, every bracket/component has been meticulously cleaned, shot-blasted, primed and sprayed and all seals and bearings have been replaced with new ones. The extensive rebuild is thoroughly documented with over 300 photos and a large folder of receipts, both keys and numerous original handbooks and Ford folders accompany this genuine RS2000 Custom.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT RS2000 CUSTOM Year: 1980 Chassis Number: GCATWU004350 Registration Number: HKR 173V Transmission: Manual Engine Number: WU00435 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 89000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black ClothClick here for more details and images

1951 SUNBEAM S8 500cc Registration No - FAS 179 Engine No - S8 7829 Frame No - S8 4942When the first post war Sunbeam was announced, it was acclaimed as a mount embodying most of the features demanded by the well-informed rider of luxury motorcycles. With its in-line parallel twin cylinder engine and gearbox in unit, shaft drive, coil ignition, unique appearance and many ingenious features it represented a complete change from current motorcycle design. Its smooth engine worked just as well at 75 mph as it did at 40. Unfortunately as good as the bike was, the gentleman tourist did not exist in large enough numbers (approx. 8,500 S8s were produced) to make continued production worthwhile and in 1956, the model ceased production. This bike was restored some years ago to a high standard and still looks good today. Due to lack of recent use and the requirement for space the owner has decided to sell the bike for someone else to enjoy and be ridden as it should be. The bike will require the usual checks and recommissioning prior to use. Comes with - current V5C, Workshop Manual and a lot of receipts etc.Estimate: £3,850 - 5,000

The Swift Motor Company was formed in 1902, although a few machines were made prior to this with propriety engines. The factory was based in the Cheylesmore district of Coventry. Two- and three-cylinder engines were offered from 1904 and were of Swift’s own design with large engines of 16 hp from 1905. Lot 720

Championship-winning Martini-liveried B31 from long term ownership, continuously developed, very competitive, recently refreshed and in fantastic condition. Shy, intuitive engineer and vastly underrated driver, Derek Bennett, was once dubbed Britain’s Enzo Ferrari, yet his most stunning world-beating Chevron cars emerged from the gloom of a lofty old brick-built Lancashire cotton mill in Bolton’s Old Chorley Road. The Chevron story officially started with a pair of beautifully built front-engined sports cars for the quirky new Clubmans Formula of 1965. Bennett himself started a tradition by winning the model’s debut race at Kirkistown in Northern Ireland, but the prototype GT cars which followed paved the marque’s way to international stardom. The ubiquitous B6 and B8 coupes of 1967 and 1968 took the world by storm, particularly with 2-litre BMW 2002 engines, enabling pecunious privateers to take on the world while satisfying the demands of the greatest professional talents – superstars like Lancastrian Brian Redman.Debuted in 1969, the B16 sports racer – arguably the prettiest sports coupé ever to grace the circuits - spawned a long series of 2-litre prototypes, much beloved by connoisseurs of the sport then as now. Today, the closed coupés are among the most popular models, but the incredibly agile and quick open 'Group 6' sports cars, derived from a cut-down B16 Spyder (Bennett’s response to Lola’s T210), enjoy a loyal following throughout Europe. The B31 was an evolution of the B26 and featured subtle changes, such as slightly redesigned fibreglass bodywork, but it retained the same basic aluminium monocoque as its predecessor. Designed to compete in the European 2-Litre Championship, it was powered by a Hart 420R naturally-aspirated, 2-litre, 16-valve DOHC, fuel-injected straight-four generating 290bhp at 9,500rpm fed through a Hewland 5-speed gearbox. Suspension featured double wishbones, coil springs over dampers with an anti-roll bar at the front, and single top links, twin lower links, twin trailing arms, coil springs over dampers with an anti-roll bar at the rear. With ventilated discs all round, rack and pinion steering and weighing only 580kg, the B31 was incredibly nimble. The B31 offered here is the fifth of six documented as built in 1975 and at one point was finished in red and powered by a 3-litre Cosworth DFV. It's now superbly presented in Martini colours and is powered by an Anderson Racing Hart 420R coupled to a J&P Hewland FG400 transaxle, both of which have been rebuilt. Significantly, the car won the 2013 HSCC Martini Sportscars Trophy, achieving four out of 11 wins, and has been professionally maintained and further developed by our vendor ever since. Recently refreshed, it remains in fantastic condition and will come with basic running consumables and four spare wheels. The history file contains HSCC papers issued in 1998 and FIA papers issued in both 2001 and 2007, so renewal should be relatively straightforward if required. One of the best looking '2-litre Sportscars' ever produced, B31/75/05 is well known for being competitive, racing continuously in the HSCC for nearly 30 years and a constant front runner. We invite and encourage your inspection of this superb example of Derek Bennett's magic touch. Superbly presented and fastidiously prepared, this fabulous little Alfa is FIA-papered until 2033, offering exciting racing at some of Europe's most prestigious events for years to come. Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia Spider in June 1962, being a development of the Giulietta Spider but now with a 1,570cc engine and a 5-speed gearbox. The Spider bodies were designed and built by Pininfarina in Turin and the cars were assembled by Alfa Romeo in Milan. The Veloce version used twin Weber carburettors and hotter camshafts than the Normale to produce around 129bhp.This exceptionally rare 101 Spider Veloce was originally dispatched to Germany, equipped with the highly coveted 1,600 engine from the factory. Transitioned into a racing machine in the 1990s, it embarked on a successful and meticulously documented competitive journey, culminating in a recent comprehensive professional rebuild, leaving no nut or bolt untouched. In the skilled hands of Dr. R Schimmer of Dusseldorf, the Alfa underwent its transformation into a race car, gracing tracks across Europe including Spa, Zolder, Zandvoort, Brno, Hockenheim and the formidable Nordschleife, where it secured an impressive ninth place overall among 185 contenders in the Eifelklassik. Notably, it triumphed at Monza in the 2010 Coppa Intereuropa, starting from the very back of the grid.Acquired by its current custodian in 2021, it underwent a comprehensive overhaul, with attention to the rear axle, carburettors, gearbox and wiring. Engineered for reliability, it has never faltered in over 16 hours of relentless racing since its rejuvenation, looked after by Alficina, who are happy to provide race support in the future. The Alfa boasts an impressive track record, as evidenced by its achievements seen below:2022:Equipe GTS – Silverstone – First in classCSCC Classic K – Silverstone – Second in classHRDC – Silverstone – Third in Monza class2023:Donington Historic HRDC – Second in classEquipe GTS – Brands GP – Fifth in classHSCC Road Sports – Donington – First in classAlfa Revival Cup – Monza – First in GTS classEquipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Saturday) (with Roberto Giordanelli)Equipe GTS – Zandvoort – First in 1600 class (Sunday)HRDC – Brands Hatch – Second in Monza class (Grant Williams)HRDC - Silverstone - Third in Monza classSuperbly presented, the Alfa commands attention wherever it roams, its rarity securing invitations to premier events. Fabulous 3.0 S fitted from new with a factory-supplied 'X-Pack', comprehensively upgraded to 240bhp very fast road spec yet superbly presented to a show-winning standard. The original dealer's invoice from 20th February 1981 that accompanies this remarkable Capri reveals that it began life a Capri 3.0 S in Midnight Blue with a black interior and factory sunroof and that, with number plates, delivery charges and VAT, the Capri would have cost its first owner the grand total of £6,538.37 had this particular owner not also chosen to tick the Factory X-Pack option box, thereby adding a further £1,834.05 to the bill. The X-Pack menu was extensive and covered bodywork, trim and performance options, however the Capri’s new owner restricted himself to four Fibresports wings and a set of RS wheels and tyres. All X-Pack options were dealer-fitted and were known as 'Factory' to distinguish them from the many after-market kits available.Having lived a normal life doing the things that Capris do, at some point, this 3.0 S was transformed into one of the most desirable Capris we have ever seen. We understand that the work was carried out by the owner prior to our vendor, with a restoration in 2008 and a further mechanical upgrade in 2018. Previous owners were obviously diligent as the massive history file contains every single MOT. It also contains over 100 invoices and receipts for the work carried out and is available to inspect at our Documents Desk. When the engine was rebuilt, it was taken out to 3.1-litres and the spec includes a balanced crank, pistons and flywheel, big-valve stage-2 heads refurbished and skimmed, high-compression pistons, steel timing gear and a Burton A9 camshaft enhances performance without compromising idle stability. Fuelling is delivered through Ford's original triple Weber carburettors, specifically the correct 42DCNF ones and additional upgrades include electronic ignition, a blaster coil, high-spec silicone leads, Facet fuel pump and a Janspeed manifold and stainless exhaust exhaust system. On the dyno, the engine recorded an output of over 240bhp, showcasing remarkable smoothness and tractability. The gearbox is a 5-speed from a later model, complemented by a limited-slip differential in the axle, providing efficient performance without unwanted noise. Bilstein adjustable coil-overs grace the front, while Bilsteins and single leaves adorn the rear. The braking system features big vented discs and alloy 4-pot calipers at the front, and standard with uprated shoes at the rear. Revolution RS wheels wrapped in Yokohama tires ensure excellent grip. Now finished in gleaming white with 'S' decals along its flanks, the Capri looks fabulous. To match the wings, it’s fitted with a Fibresports tailgate and bonnet opened with AeroCatches, Lexan composite rear and side windows and the front and rear bumpers have been replaced with genuine carbon fibre parts - much lighter but very expensive. The interior is finished to the same incredibly high standards as the rest of the car. It’s fitted with a full Safety Devices roll-cage ('dash-dodger' to preserve the dashboard), carbon door skins with billet aluminium furniture, supportive bucket seats, Securon full harnesses, flocked dash and an RS steering wheel.Although many of this car's upgrades would apply to a competition car, it was built for fast, safe road use and was undoubtedly a labour of love. The driving experience is nothing short of extraordinary, with a glorious sound that aligns with expectations. You’ll surely struggle to find a comparable specification Mk III on the market right now. This is really special and we invite and encourage your close inspection of this delightful Capri.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI 3RD GEN Year: 1981 Chassis Number: WF0CXXGAECBR03631 Registration Number: DGS 383X Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBC Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 91000 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: White/ BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 731

Raced by two giants of British saloon car racing, initially in Production Saloons and now 'Group 1', this well-known Autoplan Warranties 3.0 S Capri has amassed a trophy cabinet full of wins over the last four decades and is now on offer with a new set of FIA papers. A slightly tongue-in-cheek suggestion by Roger Williamson, proprietor of Willhire Vehicle Rentals in Norfolk, resulted in the arrival on the club motor racing scene of the Willhire 24 Hours, an endurance race for production cars and Britain’s first 24-hour motor race. The event was staged every year between 1980 and 1994 at Snetterton Circuit, becoming known simply as 'The Willhire', and there can’t be many drivers at club and national level during those years that didn’t get involved at least once. Many Willhire winners went on to enjoy success in other forms of motor sport and we are proud to mention that our own Lionel Abbott won the race twice, firstly in 1986 with Mike Smith (the first two-driver team to win the race) and in 1988 with Graham Scarborough. It was initially assumed that a production car being hammered around Snetterton for 24 hours would self-destruct and so, for the first two years, it was a team event with up to four cars used, however the survival rate was surprisingly good and, from 1983 onwards, it became an individual event with cars shared by between two and six drivers. The Capri on offer today is a 1981 3.0 S that was originally built from a Ford-supplied trimmed body shell for the 1981 production saloon car championships. With funding from Autoplan Warranties, it was put together by Roger Dowson of Gerry Marshal Racing (prior to Roger forming Roger Dowson Engineering) and was finished just in time for the Willhire, where the ebullient Gerald Marshall and the equally quick but considerably better behaved Graham Scarborough co-drove the car to second place in that race. Gerry continued to race the car for the rest of the season winning every race entered and both Production Saloon Car Championships (BARC and BRSCC). At the end of the year, Gerry sold the car to Harold Hagan in Ireland, where it continued to race with much success. Some 15 years later, in late 1996, Graham Scarborough bought the car, still in it’s original Autoplan livery, and set about fully stripping it and rebuilding the Capri to 'Group 1' specification in order to compete in the Classic Saloon Car Club Pre-83 'Group 1' Championships. Graham’s well known standards of preparation and his undoubted ability behind the wheel resulted in years of success including many wins, dozens of class wins plus the Championships outright in 1998 and 1999 and the Class in 2000 and 2001. The car was well known at Spa, enjoying many successful visits up to its last outing there at the end of 2016.The Graham Scarborough-built 'Group 1' engine was refreshed in 2018 and was set up on Neil Brown’s dyno late in 2021 having done just three races and not used since. A new clutch has been fitted which transmits through to an original Hewland 'Group 1' close-ratio gearbox and an Atlas 3.44 ratio rear axle. More recently, the car has benefitted from a thorough refresh with the paintwork and period livery being restored to a very high standard. The car is well set up and well balanced with Bilstein dampers all round. The Capri is complete with recently issued FIA/HTP papers valid for ten years, making it eligible for Legends, Goodwood Members' Gordon Spice Trophy, Classic Touring Car Club (CTCRC) and the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) Gerry Marshall Trophy.Well known, much admired and superbly prepared, the 'Autoplan Capri' has always proven to be a very fast and very reliable front-running car and, in the right hands, should continue to be a winner.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI Year: 1981 Chassis Number: N/A Registration Number: N/A Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Genuine ex-Works Fabia WRC with much success in WRC and National Championships, now factory-restored to tarmac specification as driven by Didier Auriel to his 12th place on the Rallye Sanremo-Rallye D’Italia in 2003. The Fabia WRC was based on the first-generation Škoda Fabia RS, a five-door hatchback with a 130bhp TDI engine. For the competition car's homologation, the Czech manufacturer first had to build 2,500 units of the Fabia RS and, after a three-day inspection by FIA officials in Mladá Boleslav, it was finally homologated on 1st July 2003.Due to the regulations in force at the time, the Škoda Fabia WRC – unlike its series-production counterpart – was powered by a turbocharged, water-cooled, four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of two litres. Its output was 221 kW (300bhp), with a maximum torque of 600Nm and this power was transmitted to all four wheels via a sequential 6-speed gearbox and three active differentials. The McPherson strut suspension included wishbones at the front and two wishbones and one trailing arm at the rear, while disc brakes on every wheel enabled the necessary retardation. To conform with the regulations, Škoda also installed a modified front bumper in the series-production Fabia RS for homologation purposes, increasing the overall length of the vehicle beyond the four-metre mark as was required. The Škoda Fabia WRC made its debut in the World Rally Championship at the Germany Rally in 2003, followed shortly afterwards by the demanding Finland Rally. Initially, some issues with the vehicle as well as bad luck on several special stages resulted in a disappointing start for the Fabia, however, the new car went on to celebrate a number of major successes towards the end of its debut season. The drivers included Didier Auriol, Toni Gardemeister, Armin Schwarz, Jani Paasonen, Roman Kresta and Colin McRae.Just 24 examples of the Škoda Fabia WRC were produced in total before its career ended with the introduction of the second‑generation Fabia which wrote another successful chapter in the Czech manufacturer’s motorsport history. This perfectly presented Škoda Motorsport Fabia WRC car was debuted by Didier Auriel on the Rally Australia in 2003 and the following year Toni Gardemeister used it in five WRC events and Jan Kopecky competed in the Rally Spain. Whilst still being run by Škoda Motorsport, this consistent top-ten finisher was driven by Armin Schwarz, Jani Paasonen and Alexandre Bengue. In 2007, the Škoda entered the private domain, with Eric Wevers selling it to Eugene Donnelly, who proceeded to win overall on the 2008 Donegal International Rally, the 2009 Galway International Rally, the 2009 Circuit of Ireland, the 2009 Jim Clark International Rally and the Ulster Rally that year. In 2010 the Škoda returned to Europe with Eric Wevers reacquainting himself with the Fabia and it was also driven by Alain Depierreux before being owned by Eric Cunin. In early 2020, a full back-to-works specification rebuild was undertaken which was entrusted to renowned experts RMC Motorsport owned and run by former M-Sport engineer, Ronan McCrory. The decision was taken to present the car in tarmac specification as driven by Didier Auriel to his 12th place on the Rallye Sanremo-Rallye D’Italia in 2003 and the result is, as you would expect from a full factory preparation, on the button and sorted. Currently registered in Belgium (1-KHA-604).Superbly presented and supplied with its Gold Book and a good spares package, this ex-factory Fabia WRC is part of WRC history and would be suitable at events like Rally Legends and Goodwood.Specification Make: SKODA Model: FABIA WRC Year: 2003 Chassis Number: TBC Registration Number: NOT UK-REGISTERED Transmission: Automatic Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Make: LHDClick here for more details and images

Recently restored 1,275cc MkIV with tasteful modifications and upgrades to fast road/club motorsport specification, offered with No Reserve. Introduced at the London Motor Show in October 1966, the fourth generation of Austin-Healey's diminutive Sprite now benefited from the larger 1,275cc 'A-Series' and a number of other minor mechanical developments including separate brake and clutch master cylinders. Externally, the most notable improvement was a change from a removable convertible top, which had to be stowed in the boot, to a permanently affixed folding top of greatly improved design which was much easier to use.A facelift was carried out for the 1970 model-year (beginning in September 1969) after Austin-Healey (and MG) became part of British Leyland. These largely cosmetic revision were to update the appearance of the car (now ten years old) and minimise the difference between the Sprite and Midget versions to reduce production costs; both cars now had the same cosmetic features, differing only in their badges. Alongside a new range of body colours, both cars now had the same grille, based on the plainer square-mesh design of the MkII-onwards Sprite, but now finished in satin black with the addition of a chrome embellisher. The work on fully restoring SRU 562H, this delightful little 1970 Austin Healey Sprite MkIV, was completed by its previous keeper between 2020 and 2021 and there are a number of photographs with the car showing the restoration in detail. It’s an original, UK-supplied, right-hand drive example that was factory-finished in yellow before being changed to red in the late 1980s. During the restoration, it was treated to a fresh coat of, what we believe, is Signal Red, which is complemented by its hard-top roof finished in Old English White. As can be seen from our images, the little Sprite now presents particularly well.Converting SRU 562H, to its current fast road/sprint and hill climb specification has taken place over the last 12 months by its current keeper. Work included a bolted-in roll cage, twin Sparco Sprint steel-framed, cloth-covered bucket seats with red Sparco full harnesses (all purchased from Demon Tweeks on 08/03/2023 so obviously still current), bonnet and boot lid retaining straps, new Swiftune racing mirrors on brackets, front and rear tow straps, and Minilite-style alloys. It still retains its standard 1.3-litre engine (1,275cc) A-series inline-four, fed by twin SU carburettors fitted with K&N filters and driving the rear wheels through its new 4-speed manual transmission replaced in 2023. A spare gearbox is available by separate agreement to the new owner should they choose. A new exhaust back box, along with an alternator conversion have also been added. We understand that SRU had an outing at Anglesey and was cleared by the scrutineers for that event in the Healey Sport Championship, however the regulations tend to vary from club to club and further safety equipment (plumbed-in extinguisher, remote cut-offs etc.) may be required for subsequent outings. On offer at No Reserve, this fabulous little Sprite could well be a great first entry into the world of club motorsport or simply enjoy as a fun road car.Specification Make: AUSTIN-HEALEY Model: SPRITE Year: 1970 Chassis Number: HAN1085468G Registration Number: SRU 562H Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 12CEDAH9629 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 49361 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Red/BlackClick here for more details and images

A genuine Aveley-built 1971 Mexico, recently refreshed and now ready to go. It seems likely that Ford already had plans to introduce a high-performance Escort to fit in the range between the 1300GT and the Twin Cam/RS1600, but their victory in the 1970 World Cup Rally, which finished in Mexico, provided an ideal platform to launch such a model. The engineers at the newly formed AVO (Advanced Vehicles Operations) quickly developed the 'Mexico', marrying the Type 49 bodyshell as used in the Twin Cam and RS1600 with the 1,600cc Kent 'crossflow' engine and 2000E gearbox. So, effectively, the Mexico was basically a re-engined Twin Cam/RS1600. The Mexico was AVO's most successful and numerous of the 'Rally Sport Escorts' and it had a number of advantages on the road in that it offered decent performance, was easy to maintain, relatively easy to insure and above all it was great to drive, something which is still true today.Offered here is a genuine AVO Ford Escort Mexico built at Aveley in May 1971 confirmed by its V5C which clearly states 'Ford Mexico'. Its rally pedigree is endorsed by an earlier MSA rally competition logbook (needs renewing) and the roll bar carries some early scrutineering stickers. It has a gas-flowed head and only recently has been treated to a couple of brand new 45 DCOE Webers. The crossflow engine is dry-sumped with the oil tank in the boot and it has a close-cut 'Rocket' gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Feeding the new Webers is a Rally Weld alloy competition fuel tank with a spare wheel recess.Classically finished in Diamond White with black graphics, the Mexico has recently benefited from substantial expenditure with a view to renewed competition use and a new MSA Logbook. Both front and rear brakes have been replaced and a new pedal box fitted. Two new Cobra seats have been fitted with new TRS Turn One harnesses and an extinguisher, making sure that all the safety equipment is right up to date. It's just been granted a fresh MOT so is ready for the papers to be renewed by the next owner. With the recent RAC Rally capturing the publics imagination again this Mexico, which wrote the book on national grass roots rallying, would be the perfect car to enjoy the resurgence in the sport at a very realistic budget. This is a great opportunity to own an iconic 1970s 'Performance Ford', with all the history and magic that the name 'Mexico' implies. A rare and desirable Mk1 Capri 3000GT superbly modified for fast road, sprint or hill climb events. Ford's European pony car - inspired by the legendary Mustang and immortalised by the TV detective series 'The Professionals', the Capri has a special place in many a car enthusiast's heart. MKI production ran from 1969 to 1974 and it was towards the end of the first year that the sporty 3000GT joined the range. Powered by the 2,994cc V6 'Essex' powerplant, it harboured 138bhp under its lengthy bonnet, sufficient for a 0-60mph time of 9.5 seconds and a 110mph top speed which was Jaguar Mk 2 territory at the time. There are believed to be just 31 Ford Capri 3000GTs currently road-registered in the UK, with a few more on SORN with this particular example, standing out from the crowd and almost certainly unique. Modified and uprated some years ago to an enviable standard and now powered by a turbocharged and injected 3.1-litre Essex V6 driving through a 5-speed Borg Warner T5 gearbox. The additional specification is impressive (a full list available upon request) and includes an aluminium bell housing, Pace custom alloy radiator, Weber Alpha engine management, uprated suspension and enhanced braking, a full roll cage and the instantly recognisable 'Cologne' front and rear arches all rolling on 15" Compomotive CX split-rim alloy wheels shod with Toyo R888 tyres. The Capri presents superbly finished in Sebring Red with RS3100 graphics and the engine bay is almost 'show standard'. The black interior is equally impressive with 'fishnet' Recaro bucket seats, Sabelt full harnesses and a classic RS 4-spoke wheel.Fully UK-registered, this Capri can be enjoyed as intended out on the open road or, as of late, pressed into action as a sprint or hill climb car with the option to drive to the event should you wish. Looking every inch the legendary RS3100 but considerably quicker, we invite and encourage your viewing of this versatile Capri GT.Specification Make: FORD Model: CAPRI 1ST GEN Year: 1972 Chassis Number: BBECMY14665 Registration Number: JKH 939L Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBC Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 14734 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Renault Clio V6 Trophy #065 of c.160 manufactured in Dieppe for a specific race series that accompanied the F1 circus between 1998 and 2000.  This particular Renault Clio V6 Trophy, #65 of the 159 believed to have been built, was assembled in Renault Sport’s Alpine facility in Dieppe in conjunction with Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) specifically to participate in a single-make race series that would accompany the F1 circus around Europe between 1998 and 2000. Essentially a marketing exercise with the sole intention of promoting the new, at the time, Clio 2 range, a series that replaced the Renault Sport Spider and prior to the arrival of the road going Clio V6 that was to appear in 2001. In addition to its F1 commitments, in 1999, the Trophy Series ran as a support race for the 24 Hours of Le Mans with 60 cars starting only for 25 to be eliminated in a first-lap accident.Motivation was provided by an L7X 2,946cc V6 (derived from the PSA ES engine used in the Renault Laguna) developing 285bhp @ 7,000rpm mated to a 6-speed Sadev mechanical-sequential gearbox. As is normal with one-make championships, frequent upgrades were carried out to keep the vehicles up to the current specification and clearly in pristine condition as stipulated by Renault given the prestigious environment in which they were racing. For the 1999, 2000, 2001 & 2002 seasons - all cars had Phase 1 body panels but for 2003 the cars had facelifted Ph.2 body panels fitted to align with the rest of the Clio range.Number #065 was sponsored in period by Remus Innovation Austria and Team Senn Motorsport and driven by Austrian Andreas Mayerl, a regular Renault and later Porsche competitor. When the Series was eventually shelved, it was rebuilt with a complete overhaul being carried out in 2003 but it never raced again, only seeing a circuit briefly on a couple of track-day outings in Germany. More recently, the engine and gearbox have been checked as required in readiness for its next outing, what or wherever that may be, however as with any competition car, it’s essential that interested parties carry out their own 'due diligence' on the Renault’s fitness for, and likely competitiveness in, whatever events they are considering entering. This fabulous little Clio is superbly presented and is offered with a comprehensive spares package including body and mechanical parts, a full list of which is available upon request.Specification Make: RENAULT Model: CLIO V6 TROPHY Year: 1999 Chassis Number: 0065 Registration Number: N/A Transmission: Manual Engine Number: TBA Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Make: LHD Interior Colour: YellowClick here for more details and images

A delightful example of Alfa's diminutive sporting coupé, sympathetically prepared for Historic Road Rallies. Following the ravages of war, Alfa Romeo regrouped, equipping their rebuilt factories with up-to-the-minute machinery to enable them once again to become a major manufacturer on the world stage. An all-new business plan was devised to move the company into mass production and the 1,290cc Giulietta emerged to fulfil those ambitions. In best Alfa Romeo tradition, a twin overhead-camshaft engine was to power the new model, the smallest engine size ever offered by the company but yet, in standard form, developing just shy of 80bhp. Although offered as a four-door saloon, it was the Bertone-styled Giulietta Sprint which captured the Italian sporting motorists' heart with its neat and functional styling looking good from absolutely every angle.Right from the start, the Giulietta Sprint Coupé was appreciated by drivers who recognised its potential for competition success. With its unitary construction, independent front suspension, well-located live axle and coil springs/hydraulic dampers all round, it handled better than anything else in period and was only held back by a lack of power and being a touch heavy. To address this, Alfa introduced a more powerful (90bhp) and lighter version, the Giuiletta Sprint Veloce. To reduce the Veloce's weight, Bertone used thinner steel for non load-bearing panels, the insulation was removed and the doors, bonnet and boot lid were made of aluminium as were the bumpers, 'eyebrows', whiskers and headlight rims. The combination of a rev-happy engine, fine-handling, responsive chassis and excellent brakes made the Sprint Veloce a drivers' car par excellence and explains why these stylish Alfas continue to attract the discerning enthusiast.First registered in the UK in May 1997, this 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce is a fine example of the classic Italian coupé, which has been converted to historic rally-specification. Our vendors purchased the Alfa from John Williams Classics in 2003 with some rally upgrades already in place and they continued its modification for use in long-distance regularity events. It’s powered by a replacement 1.3-litre, twin-cam, inline four-cylinder engine which was built by the Dutch Alfa specialists, Autogroep Sam Lingen. The car's original engine which has been rebuilt, confirmed by an Engineer's Report is available by separate negotiation. The extensive work to bring the car up to the standard our vendors required included quick-release bonnet hinges and locks, body shell respray in Rosso Alfa, full Safety Devices roll-cage, 5-speed gearbox, underside plates/guards for the engine, gearbox and differential, Recaro rally sport seats, Schroth four-point racing harnesses, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, reconfigured centre console, instruments refurbished, Brantz rally meter, fuel and brake lines re-routed inside the car, dual fuel pumps, dual coils, external oil filter, oil cooler, brake servo, alternator and an electric fan. It’s accompanied by a copy of the original handbook, a selection of maintenance invoices, its lapsed FIA Historic Vehicle Identity certification, FIVA identity card, a copy period brochure, the V5C and its current MOT valid until 25th April 2024.We understand that this charming Giulietta has performed faultlessly over the years, competing in many European historic road rallies and has been maintained to the highest standards regardless of cost. A classic 1950s Alfa that would be welcome anywhere.Specification Make: ALFA ROMEO Model: GIULETTA SPRINT VELOCE Year: 1958 Chassis Number: 1493-06913 Registration Number: YSY 556 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 31503 Drive Side: Left-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 1567 Miles Make: LHD Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Extensively modified all-steel Mexico powered by a 2-litre Vauxhall 'red top' engine. Previously MSA-papered and from long term ownership. The Ford Escort Mexico was introduced in November 1970 and was so named because of Ford Motor Company's victory in the World Cup Rally which started in London on 19th April 1970 and finished some 16,000 miles later in Mexico. Originally, Ford intended to use Escorts with the Twin Cam or BDA engine, but after some local reconnaissance, it was decided that high speeds and large power outputs were less important than reliability and ease of servicing, and therefore the Kent pushrod engine was used in the Escort shell. It seems likely that Ford already had plans to produce a high-performance Escort to fit in the range between the 1300GT and the Twin Cam/RS1600, but their victory in Mexico provided an ideal platform to launch such a model. The engineers at the newly formed AVO (Advanced Vehicles Operations) quickly developed the Mexico, marrying the Type 49 bodyshell, as used in the Twin Cam and RS1600 with the 1,600cc Kent crossflow engine and 2000E gearbox. So, effectively, the Mexico was basically a re-engined Twin Cam/RS1600. The Mexico became AVO's most successful and numerous of the 'Rally Sport Escorts,' and had a number of advantages on the road in that it had excellent performance, was easy to maintain, relatively easy to insure, and above all, it was great to drive, something which is still true today.ODJ 888L is a UK-supplied Escort Mexico and was first registered on 1st September 1972, originally finished in Sunset Red with the signature white stripe. It passed through the hands of a few different custodians before it was purchased by our vendor around 25 years ago.He was keen to take up rallying and decided to rebuild the car and hopefully be competitive on the club rallying scene, so the shell was fully rebuilt with steel bubble arches and refinished in Ford Motorsport White. The decision was taken to fit a Vauxhall 'red top' 2-litre engine which offered 150bhp in standard tune, a lot more power than the Ford 1600 'crossflow' and was permitted in the rally regulations at the time. This was coupled to a Quaife Professional 5-speed gearbox and through a bespoke propshaft to an English LSD back axle. Other modifications and upgrades included an aluminium radiator with built-in fan, a two and a quarter turn 'quick-rack', a biased pedal box, adjustable Bilstein suspension, an aluminium fuel-cell with twin Facet fuel pumps and the car now sits on a set of wide gold Minilite replica alloys which certainly fill the arches. The little Mexico ran well for our amateur rallying racing custodian who enjoyed many seasons with it, but it has not seen a competitive life for a few years. Clearly its MSA papers have expired but we believe it would not take much to get this cracking entry-level package back on track and what lot of fun for a very sensible outlay.Specification Make: FORD Model: ESCORT MK1 MEXICO Year: 1972 Chassis Number: BFATME00497 Registration Number: ODJ 888L Transmission: Manual Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

A Ford 1910 4 WD three cylinder 1,702 cc Diesel engined 32 H.P. compact farm tractor. Registration no. A 867 DDP, first registered on the 14th June 1984 and understood to have a 12 speed gearbox. Fitted with hydraulic lift arms and a pick-up hitch, as well as a P.T.O. and rear hydraulic coupling. Currently showing 3,049 hours (Not Warranted). At present fitted with Turf tyres. A very capable and manoeuvrable lightweight tractor ideal for a small-holding or perhaps a horticultural unit, the low speed capability being invaluable for planting and harvesting tasks. With a link box fitted would be a worthy substitute for a quad bike and so much more versatile, with a mower fitted would be ideal for the maintenance of those dauntingly large grassed areas. This tractor started promptly and drove in all gears around the sale-yard for the filming of the video footage. An ideal subject for smartening up over the winter with a new coat of paint, perhaps in readiness for next year's road run season being light enough for legal trailering to those more distant events. As with all motor vehicles sold through our auctions, this machine is sold in its current condition and all vehicles should be inspected in person prior to bidding. N.B. BUYERS PREMIUM ON THIS LOT 10% + V.A.T. (Total Premium 12% plus specific on-line bidding fees).
