Registration No: LOX 945 Frame No: ZC10549? Engine No: XC11.28478 CC: 250 MOT: ExemptAn exciting shed findIdeal ride or restore machine90% OriginalNo documentation foundThe little side-valve C10 250cc machine had entered the BSA catalogue during 1938. The new model featured a single-cylinder engine with coil ignition and a three-speed, hand-change gearbox housed in a rigid frame with girder forks and was graced with a combined fuel and oil tank. With the end of hostilities in 1945, it was among four machines announced to return in August 1945. 1946 saw the girder forks changed for telescopic items and the speedometer moved to the tank. This c.1948/9 BSA C10 was found in a shed in Birmingham where it has resided since 1965. In mostly original condition for its age, it has a tax disc from 1965 showing when it was last used. It rolls easily, but sadly the engine does not turn over. There is no documentation with this lot.

Registration No: VAM 995D Frame No: 125LIS 859745 Engine No: 125LIS 859280 CC: 125 MOT: ExemptCompletely standard 6v and appearing untouchedOriginal Italian documents from newV5C and ready for the roadAppears to be original paint all overLambretta revised the Li Series 3 for the third time in late 1965. Already more elegant and better designed than the earlier Li the Special range aimed to be more sporting and performance-based. The improved engine and close-ratio gearbox made for a faster machine with much-improved acceleration than earlier standard Li 125cc versions. The attractive angular lines and new metallic colours modernised the range. The 125 Special was not exported to the UK at the time and it is still relatively difficult to find one imported in excellent condition. Here we present a very original 125cc Special in the desirable metallic blue. Completely standard and having had no modifications. The scooter was imported directly from a dealer in Italy and was supplied with its original purchase receipt Foggio Complimentare and Ministry of Transport booklet showing details of its early history up to 1988. The purchase date was February 1967 and the UK registration from LCGB states a manufacture of 1966. The body work is straight and good bar a repairable scrape on the right-side panel. The paint has a pleasant patina all over the panels and the running in transfer is fully visible. The seat is the original Blue Giuliari with original cover in remarkably good condition. All over the scooter we can see originality including; The control switch, speedometer, engine and panels. Our vendor has carefully specialised in collecting very original examples and we note that all of the outer cables, grease-points and cable straps have never been removed. Still standard on 6v points. Full original keys are present and the scooter is registered ready for the road. We were able to see the scooter running at the time of consignment although do advise a service before using. Also has an original '60s Cuppini rear spare wheel holder and rack in black, quite rare in itself. Learner legal and a well above average condition machine. Registration No: LXS 715 Frame No: 21626 Engine No: 2286 CC: 250 MOT: ExemptRare in the UK Moto Guzzi Airone 250 SportTypical Italian style and race breed technologySupplied with a large paperwork file and a V5CMoto Guzzi was established in 1921 by three friends from the Italian Air Corps and is Europe’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production, based in the same factory in Mandello del Lario overlooking Lake Como ever since. One of the founding fathers was Carlo Guzzi who gave his name to the company and was also the chief designer, always innovative they were very successful in Grand Prix racing with products as diverse as the 350cc horizontal single that won five world championships in a row to the incredible 500c V8. The forward facing cylinder with an outside flywheel became Guzzis signature layout until the arrival of the big vee twins in the late 1960s. The Airone isn’t as well known in the UK as its bigger brother, the 500cc Falcone, but in Italy the 250cc single was by far the bigger seller and the model was in production from the late 1930s through to 1957. An expensive bike in its day and rare in the UK, this beautifully presented Airone is the Sport model with a Sport cam, a higher compression piston and a Dellorto SS1 25mm carburettor. Bought by the vendor in 2013 as an unfinished project, the paint, chrome and preparatory mechanical work was already done with the cycle parts and frame repainted or re-chromed, wheels rebuilt and new or refurbished mechanical parts already sourced and purchased ready for the final engine rebuild. In 2018 the engine/gearbox was completely rebuilt using fully refurbished crankcases, a new crank, refurbished gearbox, a new clutch, plus all new bearings, bushes, gaskets and seals together with a full piston, barrel and head restoration. The bike has been fully rewired and with a reconditioned dynamo and magneto fitted. By late 2019 this Airone was finally ready for UK registration and issued with an age-related number. The machine was briefly run and tested after completion and went very well but due to ill health it has not been used since so will need a light recommissioning and then running in. The quality of the paintwork and the chrome/ alloy brightwork is very good and it comes supplied with a large paperwork file of technical information and receipts, some spares together with a current V5C. Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 8564748 Engine No: 1778509 CC: 50 MOT: ExemptA c.1966 example, it appears to be unrestoredIn unmolested original conditionA very original machine that needs to be it a restoration or conservationIn 1919, Garelli constructed a 350 cc motorcycle which set a long-distance record from Milan to Naples. Many famous Italian racers such as Ernesto Gnesa, Tazio Nuvolari and Achille Varzi began their racing careers on Garelli bikes. The company also produced motorcycles for the Royal Italian Army. After World War II, Garelli concentrated on producing smaller bikes and mopeds for the European market. Usually 50cc with a 3-speed gearbox and a kick start. This c.1966 Garelli appears to be unrestored and presents in an unmolested original condition. This little machine has recently been discovered sleeping in a shed. It is a very original machine that needs some restoration or conservation. This Garelli is certainly a charming Italian lightweight with great potential for a new owner. For more information, please contact: Stewart Parker info@handh.co.uk 07836 346875

Registration No: SV 7308 Frame No: A2473 Engine No: 02722 CC: 269 MOT: ExemptA rare British pioneer machineFormed part of a private collectionIdeal pioneer run machineJuno was the name given to motorcycles sold by the Metropolitan Machinists Co. of Bishopsgate, London, between 1905 and 1924. Juno motorcycles were often built to order, and the company started out with a small 3hp solo and a 3½ hp forecar fitted with Fafnir engines. Later they turned to Precision engined machines, JAP and the 269cc Villiers engines. Typical of the era, the machines had belt drive, one or two speeds and Druid forks. There was a very small demand and production was limited. Post-WWI, the company resumed again, having stopped in 1915. Production was modest and the machines were mainly built to order and to customers' specifications. This trend continued until at least 1924, when they were advertising a lightweight fitted with a 147cc Villiers engine, two-speed gearbox and electric lighting. By that time the company was called the Juno Cycle Co.This 1914 Juno lightweight machine has formed part of a private collection of machines. It is a rare survivor today, especially being from 1914. Restored many years ago it has had little use since completion. Recommissioning would be advised before use. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 1309R Engine No: N15CS/1220224 CC: 750 MOT: N/ARecent restorationAuthenticated Metisse frameOverhauled 750 Norton Atlas engineDerek and Don Rickman made off-road, race and road motorcycles using their own frame designs for fifteen years after commencement in 1960. Frame kits were supplied to allow home builders to fit a variety of British motorcycle manufacturers’ power units, as none of the major marques would supply them with complete new engines. Rickman kits were well respected for their excellent fibreglass bodywork and outstanding nickel-plated frames branded ''Metisse'', the translation of which ‘Mongrel’ (a combination of unrelated but harmonious components). Racer and actor, Steve McQueen, was an enthusiast of the Metisse motorcycles.A freshly restored and beautifully presented machine this Rickman machine is currently fitted with an overhauled 750 Norton Atlas engine with a new magnesium 5-speed Norvin racing gearbox with authenticated Metisse frame. It has been started but not ridden seriously since the restoration. The vendor advises ‘the usual checks’ before use and also advises that a period of ‘running-in’ should be undertaken before serious use! A history file is present and includes various documentation relating to recent works, frame certificate of authentication etc. This could be an excellent opportunity to acquire a very attractive and well-specified example of a legendary British racing motorcycle from the golden era of road racing.

Registration No: CSL 565 Frame No: EC12 19874 Engine No: BC11G 31266 CC: 250 MOT: ExemptAuthentically restored swinging arm BSA 250Fitted with Stainless wheel rims and spokesSupplied with lots of receipts, manuals and V5CFamous for the larger capacity 650 twins like the A10 and RGS, and sporty models like the classic Gold Star range, one of BSA’s more popular products was the C range of 250cc OHV singles that provided a good solid reliable bike for many 1950s enthusiasts to start motorcycling on. The C12 was the first version to feature swinging arm rear suspension using the same engine as the earlier C11G with its four-speed gearbox, but in a more modern chassis. This early C12 model has been restored keeping a good degree of originality and will make an ideal bike for someone wanting the character of a 1950s British bike in a relatively lightweight chassis. Supplied with over 40 receipts for parts bought during the restoration process including one showing £341 for stainless rims and spokes and various parts books, service sheets and workshop manuals together with a copy of the 'Book of BSA Singles' and a V5C. Ridden last summer it may need a light recommissioning before use. For more information, please contact: Ian Cunningham ian.cunningham@handh.co.uk 07415871189

Registration No: WXG 936 Frame No: T1P02 7010 Engine No: T1P02 7053 CC: 125 MOT: ExemptExceptional restored conditionWithin the first 2100 Lambrettas ever madeCorrect numbers.76 years old and a very rare modelV5C for use on UK roadsThe Lambretta Model A or 125M as it was first called, was the first ever Lambretta launched on October 1947 and so began the legend that is Lambretta. During its sole year in production only 9669 were produced and it was subject to dozens of modifications in this short time. The 125M was never exported, had a 125cc engine, 3 speed gearbox and foot operated gear change. It has no suspension except a rubber block at the front. It had 7 inch wheels, later changed to 8 inch on the model B. Many of the parts were chrome plated and the overall design was extremely elegant, particularly the deco-style gear shift guide and the sweeping front mudguard. These machines are now very rare and there are very few registered for the road in the UK.Chassis number 7010 (numbering started at 5001). This extremely well-restored example in the correct colour and using the original parts or quality NOS replacements as specified by Casa Lambretta. One must remember that until only recent times new 7 inch tyres of the specification were impossible to find and remade parts were not in production. The scooter was sought out in Italy by avid collector and perfectionist Craig Robinson who acted fast to secure this fine example circa 2013. Our vendor was able to acquire it in 2021.We were able to see the scooter in full working condition at the time of consignment and as one can see from the photographs and accompanying video the condition is exceptional. These 1940s Lambrettas are tipped for rocketing collectability in the future and good examples are becoming hard to find and seldom come onto the market. Also supplied with the scooter is an exact replica handbook as reproduced by Tino Sacchi and the original sales brochure in first reprint with the number stamp which is also collectible in itself. Harley epitomizes large-capacity cruisers that many have tried to copy but have never managed to match Harley's image and prestige. The Sportster range has been produced continuously since 1957, powered by the classic air-cooled V-twin engine in a nice simple chassis. In 1991 the model was given a facelift including the adoption of a five-speed gearbox and belt final drive. This one owner from new Sportster, being offered at no reserve, was bought by the vendor from Warrs Harley Davidson, Europe's oldest Harley dealer, in April 1991. Still wearing its original paint and chrome, the bike is Stage 1 tuned and comes supplied with 2 sets of original exhaust, original air filter parts and dual seat. Included in the sale is an extensive paperwork file including the original bill of sale, some contemporary catalogues, accessory brochures, many old MOTs and tax disc and a current V5C. Please note, this bike has recently been returned to the UK from the vendor's home in Portugal. The battery had to be removed to allow for transport so a new one will be needed before use. Registration No: VPE 661G Frame No: 129156 Engine No: 129156 CC: 650 MOT: ExemptOne of just 600 approximately madeFully restored at great expenseAll correct numbers machineA host of paperwork on fileCurrent V5CThe Norton 650 Mercury was the culmination of Featherbed framed bikes. Production of a mere c.600 built was organized into two batches, stored in a Plumstead building with a single entrance. Consequently, the last bikes often became the first to roll out. Mercury production commenced at number 129147 in September 1967, yet the inaugural shipment, a month later, was 129353 dispatched to Swindon Motors. The aforementioned Mercury #129147 eventually left the factory in 1969, after languishing for 18 months in storage, finding its way to Grenada via the Eastern Caribbean Commission.Standard features of basic models include painted (Atlantic Blue) mudguards, a battery box, oil tank, and primary cases, a solitary speedometer clock (sans rev counter) paired with a Silver tank. Optional upgrades encompass chromed or stainless mudguards, rev-counter parts, and the Commando twin leading-shoe front brake. Notably, the Mercury model's cylinder head and crankcases were modified Commando castings tailored to 650 specifications. Similarly, save for the main shaft, the gearbox was sourced from Commando inventory. In February 1970, the final official factory Mercury, numbered 18SS 129894, rolled off the line. Speculation swirled that the Mercury 650 was a 'parts bin' special to clear unused factory stock. However, this assertion doesn't fully capture the reality, as many major components were either bespoke or compatible as spares for earlier models. The model's Achilles heel lay in its pricing. Once outfitted with a twin leading-shoe front brake and requisite optional extras to align with the previous 650SS specifications, the final cost nearly paralleled that of a new Commando. Unsurprisingly, the Mercury struggled to find buyers, leading to production halting after fewer than 750 units, nearly matching the Manxman MkI's production figures a decade prior. This 1969 Norton 650 Mercury, #129156, is just one of approximately 600 produced. The previous owner realized he had something a bit special and decided to carry out a very extensive rebuild. The owner then researched the machine through Andover Norton who confirmed it to be a genuine machine. The Norton has had much money spent on the restoration and during the rebuild, he made two CDs of the restoration. The Norton is running very well and has been enjoyed by the current owner since in his ownership. It is offered with a file of receipts, many old tax discs, old MOT certificates, and a current V5C Registration Document. Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 22/2/258767 Engine No: SX200/258901 CC: 198 MOT: ExemptOriginal all over including paintMany important original parts unique to the ‘Electronic’ present Rare Electronic version of the design icon by Nuccio Bertone acclaimed for his designs for Ferrari and LamborghiniCorrect numbers very closeNOVA for UK registration The DL200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off of Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 it is said a total of only 9350 DL/GP200s were made and less than 1000 were electronic versions. The DL200 followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the day of the early 1970s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/2 frame and rectangular headlight. There were however significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The electronic version went even further with a 6v electronic ignition and CDI unit and these today are extremely collectible. The only immediately noticeable difference between the DL and GP Electronics was the battery being absent from the DL version, and different front panel badge. This 1971 manufactured DL200 Electronic is in a challenging condition and will prove to be a project for only the most proficient Lambretta enthusiast. We can only guess what has happened to this poor machine as the frame is generally solid but looks like the scooter has misbehaved and has been attacked by a hammer. However, having said that it is in its original state and so many original and almost impossible to find parts are there and this can be clearly seen by examination of the photographs. Starting with the electrics she has 6v red original CDI 323901 with black wire and presumably the original electronic stator plate. The ignition switch is the original with key number 162 visible. The light switch is the original. The seat frame is the original Guiliari. The cables appear to have never been removed are all fastened with the correct straps and have the correct grease nipple points. The original KM speedometer is present and stopped at 10222 kms. The brake adjusters are the original late short versions found only on late GP/DLs. The plastic parts are also original black including the petrol flap. The correct ball-end levers, shark teeth and cast badges front and back are all present. The engine appears to be complete and original with correct kick start but the casing has significant damage. The carburettor and exhaust are missing but these are not hard parts to obtain. The side panels are missing but also standard DL/GP panels are identical. The front hub and disc brake all appear to be complete. This is a very rare opportunity for the most serious restorer or conservator of Lambrettas if you are up to the challenge. Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 8/72 1204R (Not visible) Engine No: 66R (Not visible) CC: 496 MOT: N/ABuilt-in 1989 by the late ownerAmazing handwritten documentation over the yearsRaced with successComplete with a host of sparesThe bike was built/assembled in the autumn/winter of 1989/1990. The build comprised a brand new G50 motor from Rutter Engineering, a second-hand Metisse rolling chassis with disc brakes front and rear, and genuine Metisse forks. The rolling chassis was disassembled and delivered to Pat French at MRD Metisse in Bristol and was modified to accept the G50 motor. An AMC gearbox was obtained and fitted with 5-speed Quaife internals along with a racing end cover. A Bob Newby clutch and primary drive were also purchased. The machine was then used from 1990 to 1992 unaltered at the Manx Grand Prix and in the UK.Rebuilt and upgraded for competition use between 1993 and 2011, the machine was used on the TT course, the MGP, before being last used at a Mallory Park test day in 2011.We are grateful to the vendor for the following:“The machine was rebuilt for the 1993 season by my father (who kept detailed records of his builds) and I recorded my first ever 90 mph lap of the TT course on a classic single in that year. In 1994 after a practice week engine rebuild (broken crankpin) I managed to complete the race at an average speed of 90.15 mph (not too shabby for a 6’6” bloke with no skill and weighing 16.5 stones). In 1999 after two more crankpin failures my father ordered and fitted a one-piece crankshaft manufactured as a one-off from Dave Nourish of NRE Engineering, Dave was a friend of my father. In 2001 a Mick Taberer drive side main bearing conversion kit was fitted which according to my father’s records included INA needle roller bearings. The engine’s last complete rebuild was in 2007 when a new liner along with piston and rings, main bearings, and big end shells were fitted the bike was then used at the 2008 MGP.Following the race in November 2008 the top end of the bike was stripped and rebuilt by my father, the bike was last used in July 2011 at a Mallory Park test day.”We are advised the lot will include numerous spares, spare PAL mag, pistons, bearings, sprockets, brake discs, fork tubes, transponder, flywheels, suits rev counter, etc. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Registration No: MWV160F Frame No: 20/9 590959 Engine No: N/A CC: 135 MOT: ExemptPLEASE NOTE: The reserve has been reduced.Professionally built in the UK to Rimini/CASA specificationUsed regularly by our vendorV5 and ready to use on UK roadsThe Lambretta Lui range was part of the ‘Luna Line’ and was launched in August 1968 as a futuristic masterpiece of Italian design collaboration between Innocenti and design house Bertone, famed for their designs for Ferrari and Lamborghini. A lightweight scooter it was marketed in the UK by Lambretta Concessionaires as ‘The Space Age Look for the year 2000’ in the space race era of the time in 1968. Despite a huge marketing campaign by Innocenti the Luna line sold poorly in general and this has resulted in a fairly scarce amount of survivors. It was one of the last scooters to come out of the famous Milan factory.A trend in recent times has been to customise the Luna Line scooters into road Tourers and this has been led largely by Dean at Rimini Lambretta Centre. A well-thought-out new engine (ONE 35) with a 135cc capacity has been refined over the last 10 years together with CASA Lambretta and has been tried and tested by Rimini staff on many long rides and rallies. The combination of compatible engineering components has resulted in a machine that can cruise at almost 70mph.Presented here is a 135cc Tourer that is reportedly using over £3500 in engine parts alone. The parts are pictured in this description and include: CASA engine casing polished by JW Polishing, a CASA 135cc top-end kit, CASA crank, Firefly 12v ignition, 5-speed CASA gearbox, Polini 24mm carburettor, CASA performance maxi box exhaust and BGM adjustable rear shock. The scooter also has a Vega style rear light set up and an inline Spare wheel on customised holder. The vendor has also registered the correct new capacity 135cc on the V5C registration document. He has also said that he has used the scooter often including recently and that it runs very well but may need some adjustment to the 5th gear which occasionally drops out. He informs us that a competent scooter mechanic will be able to solve this. For more information, please contact: Paul Diamond info@vintagescooters.co.uk 07768 313001

The 998R and non-US 998S models had different crankcases with a deep oil sump. The standard 998 had crankcases which were very similar to the previous Desmoquattro. The non-US 998S as well as the 998R had revised cam profiles which provided more power than the standard 998.This 2002 Ducati 998S was purchased by the current vendor in 2020 as a restoration project but then decided to do a full rebuild, and most of the work was carried out by Louigi Moto in Bristol. What needed to be done was done, the engine and gearbox were stripped and rebuilt to Ducati's specifications, and the vendor knows the owner Rich Llewellin very well, so extra details were done. It benefits from Ohlins forks rear shocks, Marchini Mas wheels, and Termi exhaust. The machine will need to be run-in by its new owner. Rich Llewellin from Louigi Moto can back up the work carried out. It comes complete with a current V5C. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Registration No: BB 2076 Frame No: 1022 Engine No: 1022 CC: 770 MOT: ExemptA rare survivor with just a handful knownIt is believed to have its original New Hudson SidecarRestored over 2019/20Old and new logbooksNew Hudson Motorcycles was a Birmingham-based motorcycle manufacturer which started producing powered motorcycles in 1903. The New Hudson motorcycle range expanded from 1910 through to 1915 using JAP engines before joining the war effort putting motorcycle production on hold. The company continued producing motorcycles after the Great War before stopping in 1933, changing their name to Girling Ltd and continuing to produce automotive components. Some of our readers may be familiar with the later New Hudson autocycles which were produced by BSA under the New Hudson name after the Second World War.This combination was purchased by the previous owner for the purposes of restoration. Prior to the current owner, we understand it was with the previous owner for nearly 60 years. The previous owner used it without the sidecar for many years before the whole outfit needed a complete restoration. Unfortunately, there is no further history documented with this one, as is often the case with earlier motorcycles. The V5C states it has had three former keepers, but it wouldn’t surprise us if the complete, exact ownership over the last 108 years had alluded the records.Presented for auction today is the result of a diligent and mindful restoration. Care has been taken to aim for originality with both shades of Green having been colour-matched from the components prior to painting. It hasn’t all been overfilled and smoothed over meaning that, whilst it is a wonderful job, it still has its story to tell, and it feels like a 1914 outfit. It drives nicely and starts very reliably. This would be expected as the engine was rebuilt by renowned V-twin experts, Cowley Restorations of Derbyshire. The magneto is correct for the era and the carb has, again, been professionally overhauled. It is a three-speed hand change gearbox with a belt drive onto the back wheel. The lubrication is by an oil drip feed which can be overridden manually when needed. The sidecar is a beautiful addition with stunning woodwork and a remarkable sprung system.Paperwork includes a buff logbook which we think was issued in 1970, alongside a selection of invoices from the recent restoration. The motorcycle is stated as having been registered in 1921 and includes a modern V5C. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

Registration No: Unregistered Frame No: 150LiS 247702 Engine No: 150Li 764762 CC: 150 MOT: ExemptCompletely original and untouchedGenuine Red Italian 150 SpecialCorrect numbersIn apparently full running orderNOVA for easy UK registration or exportExceptional opportunityThe ‘150 Special’ debuted at Milan in 1963. The tuned engine and close-ratio gearbox made for a faster – 95kmh – machine with much-improved acceleration over a standard Li. The Special 150cc engine/gearing combination on these models was also particularly sought after by Lambretta racers who raided the machine engines and this has contributed to the rarity of them in original state. Here we present something special. A complete original paint unmolested pure genuine Italian 150 Special originally supplied in all red paint. We understand that there were very few factory-made Specials in red and the other known examples are SX200 models and only two of these are known to have survived. This the only 150 Special known to exist according to the vendor who has extensive Lambretta contacts and also through our own research. All of the red Lambrettas were sent as a special order to the USA as mentioned by Vittorio Tessera in his historical notes. It is also believed that these were a special order for a regional US post office. This very rare scooter was imported to the UK by Dean Harvey of Scootopia in 2016 it has a NOVA on file for simple UK registration or easy export. On close examination we note that there appears to have been a temporary sidecar fitted at some point. The original stand which would have been removed to do that was retained and was refitted and indeed is in the original red paint but in excellent unfaded condition in our opinion. It is interesting to see that all over the scooter the areas of paint that would have caught the sun have faded while other areas under shade have stayed quite vibrant. It is quite possible that the spare wheel would have had a cover to retain the brighter paint. There is a small running in transfer still visible inside the leg shield in English only. Believed totally original all over we could not see any touch ups to the paint anywhere. The original Giuliari seat is in pretty good condition with its original cover having minor unstitching at the top. The MPH Veglia speedometer shows 944 miles only which could easily be genuine. Our vendor has carefully specialised in collecting very original examples and we note that all of the outer cables, grease-points and cable straps have never been removed. Still standard as a 150 on 6V points. All of the original keys are present for the tool box, steering lock and ignition. The totally original standard engine started up easily and sounded very good at time of consignment. Please see running video. Registration No: YTR 243 Frame No: LCU72 Engine No: LCU81 CC: 175 MOT: ExemptTypically stylish Italian OHC 175cc sports single Moto Giro eligible in Rievocazione Storica classSupplied with restoration photos, receipts and a V5CMoto Guzzi was established in 1921 by three friends from the Italian Air Corps and is Europes oldest motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production, based in the same factory in Mandello del Lario overlooking Lake Como ever since. Always innovative they were very successful in Grand Prix racing with products as diverse as the 350cc horizontal single that won five world championships in a row to the incredible 500c V8. The Lodola, featuring a lightweight 175cc OHC single cylinder engine was company founder and original designer Carlo Guzzi's last design before his death in the early 1960s.This well presented Lodola has been part of a Moto Guzzi enthusiast private collection for the last few years. Dated as a 1957/58 model it is Moto Giro d’Italia eligible in the Rievocazione Storica or Historic re-enactment class. Purchased by a previous owner in 2006, he then gave it a full engine/gearbox and mechanical overhaul including a rebore, new piston, new bearings and seals throughout in preparation for the 2008 Giro d’Italia. The bike has since completed 3 more Moto Giro events and the Colombres Rally. It has only had light use under current ownership since 2021, taking part in VMCC and Guzzi Club events, the vendor reports it would benefit from a front fork overhaul with a new bronze bushes kit provided. Lot 119

Registration No: FWX 506L Frame No: V9SS2T 10428 Engine No: V9SS2T 7097 CC: 88.5 MOT: ExemptAn opportunity to acquire one of the rarest Vespas ever producedOriginal SS90 engine and SS frame and partsCorrect numbersV5 present for use on UK roadsBy the early 1960s Vespa Douglas in Great Britain were importing Italian-built Vespas as opposed to continuing to manufacture them. The Vespa SS90 made between 1965 and 1971 is much sought after by collectors due to its extreme rarity and only just over 5000 were produced. The later Vespa SS90 Racer is even rarer with a total reported production of only 3512 machines. The engine is identical to the SS90 Supersprint with the two-stroke 88.5 cc engine as a single-cylinder, air-cooled unit with a bore/stroke of 47/51mm and an 8.7:1 compression ratio. It’s paired with a 4-speed gearbox, the dry weight is 77 kilograms, and the top speed is 93km/h (58mph). The only visible difference on the 90 Racer is that the exhaust was black as opposed to the SS90 exhaust which was chrome. The frame was a standard Vespa 90 body with simple Vespa badging on the front. On the rear, however, there was an identifiable sticker ‘Racer’. The headset, forks and wheels were the same as the 125 Primavera. This 90 Racer is a very interesting lot indeed. The original correct engine is there but will need restoration and is missing some parts. However, the extremely rare SS90 ’S’ cylinder barrel is supplied. The chassis is an original correct SS90 racer frame although work had started to cut down to imitate a SS90 Supersprint and this work could be continued. The frame has already been jigged to be correct by well-known Vespa engineer John McLochlan. There are also many extremely hard-to-find original and correct parts including the seat which is in very good order, the speedometer, ball-end levers, headset and front light. This could be a very worthwhile restoration project and it already has a V5C. For more information, please contact: Paul Diamond info@vintagescooters.co.uk 07768 313001

Registration No: 334 XWB Frame No: 175TVS 3676 Engine No: 175TV 3785 CC: 175 MOT: ExemptThis scooter features in a full article in this months (March 2024) Scootering MagazineFully running ATC and appears well maintainedRemarkable original conditionCorrect engine and frame numbersIgnition, steering lock and toolbox keys presentOriginal ignition and carburettorV5C for use on UK roadsThe Lambretta TV175 Series 1 was launched in September 1957 and was a very different kind of scooter than all that had gone before it. It was the first scooter of the Li range and appeared some 7 months before the Li. The new 4-speed TV machine was able to reach an unprecedented 103kmh (64mph) which was a significant improvement on the 3-speed LD models which it replaced. However, the new engine was not without its problems and various changes to the design were made during its short production run to improve things. It had a large carburettor with a diaphragm and a complicated kick start arrangement. Early examples had cable adjusters on the handlebar levers. The rear suspension had a combined spring and hydraulic shock which allowed the engine to swivel silent mounts. The wheel rims had chrome edging. The rear light had a triple bulb arrangement with an orange lens either side of a red centre. The new enclosed chain driven engine had an increased capacity and the crankshaft, barrel, piston and gearbox ratio were changed. The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers. The rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The TV175 models were fitted with a Veglia 120 km/h speedometer face and a dual seat. The ‘Lambretta’ and ‘TV175’ side panel badges were attached to the panels with small nuts as opposed to the riveted badges on the Series 1 Li panels. Often referred to as the ‘tourer’ it had a superb performance when running correctly coupled with beautiful styling and has been hugely sought after for many years by collectors. This early version example with cable lever adjusters was imported recently into the UK and is registered to enjoy immediately. She was reportedly in use on the road in Sweden up until the present and our vendor did join a local rally on it at the time of purchase riding some 50km without issue. The scooter certainly appears to be mechanically well maintained but with striking patina. The rear shock has been replaced with a correct type and the floor mats are new but we could find little else that was not original to the scooter. Used floor mats are sometimes available and would complete the entire original look. The seat is the original Aquila Continentale with a cover replaced long ago. Please see below videoOf note the original correct speedometer with chrome bezel is showing 11,694km. The scooter being largely untouched and unmodified is showing superb originality all over the machine including: Sound deadening rough in all the correct paces, lights front and rear, carburettor and fuel tap, ignition, engine and the electrics are still on 6v points. A TV series 1 in this unmodified condition, fully running with full keys and V5C is a rare and desirable machine. In 1923, a production Model 18 was successfully used for the first time at the Brooklands 12 Hours. The Norton 18 became famous through the South American voyage of Che Guevara and Alberto Granado in 1951.This c.1926 Norton Model 18 has had all the hard work carried out during its restoration, it benefits from an extensive engine and gearbox rebuild, along with the wheels and hubs. Sadly, due to the current vendor being unable to complete the restoration it is offered for the next custodian to complete. This is a very rewarding project to complete with not too many jobs to do, mostly the operating cables. This Norton will need to be registered for road use and does not come with any paperwork. Registration No: TD 6048 Frame No: 43530 Engine No: 20376 CC: 600 MOT: ExemptElegant Vintage touring machineOlder restoration that is holding up wellRunning very wellRare Grindlay sidecar fittedCurrent V5C on fileThe first motorcycle to be produced at the Wolverhampton workshops of Sunbeam proprietor John Marston, who had been a manufacturer of high-quality enamel items, pedal cycles and, from 1912, automobiles. It was at the 1921 French Grand Prix that the marque's soon to be famous long-stroke side-valve engine clocked up a debut win for rider Alec Bennett. Powering Sunbeam road machines, this legendary motor was then to remain in production until WW2.This 1926 Sunbeam Model 7 was restored by the previous owner to a good standard, since its completion it has been used on many vintage events since. The engine was rebuilt by Chris Odling. The Sunbeam benefits from the hard to find four speed gearbox. The current vendor has advised us the Sunbeam is running very well and has lots of power when needed. The sidecar was manufactured by Grindlay and is a rare survivor today, this was restored at the same time as the Sunbeam. It comes complete with a current V5C, a file with receipts for parts and work carried out and a dating certificate from the Marston Sunbeam Club. Registration No: 398 XVX Frame No: VT74259 Engine No: V56 74183 CC: 125 MOT: ExemptRestored exampleVery presentableFull working condition ATCV5C present for use on UK roadsMotovespa from Ciudad, near Madrid had been manufacturing Vespas under license since 1956 broadly manufacturing models in line with the Italian ranges. Many of the parts were supplied from Italy (Piaggio) and France (ACMA) from the beginning and then later models had many Italian Piaggio supplied parts and this dId not alter until the last MotoVespas were produced. The 125 N was the first fully Spanish built wide frame Vespa after the grey Faro Basso type. It retained the crimped beading on the frame sides., which is a desirable effect. Often referred to as the Spanish ‘Struzzo’ (Italian for Ostrich) it resembled the Italian VL range. It had many features the same as the Struzzo including cabled handlebars, 3 gears, 8 inch wheels and Femsa ignition. Here we present a very attractive example that has been the subject of a very long restoration because of the owner's insistence on sourcing original parts which he tells us took patience. He bought it 8 years ago and has decided to sell to make room for a new project. We are informed by the vendor that the attractive light green period style colour was an original paint colour for the model in Spain but we cannot verify this, however, it really is a typical 50s colour and very nice too in our opinion. Original parts that we could see were the Veglia speedometer (Douglas), lights, hubs and rims, engine cowls and we are informed all of the panels are the originals restored. We are also informed that the engine is completely standard with original barrel and gearbox. The top of the petrol tank is original however the lower part is a SIP replacement as is the carburettor. The electrics have been converted to 12v with a quality Pinasco ignition system. The original Spanish number plate is also supplied and one can see the original owner's plate beneath the seat on the carb door.We were able to start the scooter easily at the time of consignment and our consultant also took it for a little spin and all seemed to work as it should. Registration No: KBC 61K Frame No: JG00301 Engine No: JG00301 CC: 650 MOT: ExemptA beautifully restored BSA A65Very striking paintworkPart of a collectionV5C document is presentThe Birmingham Small Arms factory was established in the Small Heath area of Birmingham in 1861 and, as the name suggests, manufactured weapons. Around the turn of the century, they started making bicycles and progressed onto motorcycles a few years later. BSA went on to become one of the world's largest producers of motorcycles up until its demise in the early 1970s. The 654cc unit-construction parallel twins were launched in 1962 as the A65 Star model with various improvements introduced throughout the decade. The Lightning model was designed as the all-round sports machine aimed largely for export to the US market to complement the more touring-orientated Thunderbolt. A closer ratio gearbox combined with a higher lift camshaft made for lively acceleration and performance at higher RPM than the standard A65.Offered here is a very nice 1972 BSA A65 Lightning that has been restored by the previous owner to a very good standard, believed to have been carried out around 2002. It has not been used much since its completion. Purchased by the vendor in 2003, to form part of his collection of BSA motorcycles, it was used from time to time for events and shows. Some recommissioning may be required before use. It comes complete with a V5C document. For more information, please contact: Mike Davis mike.davis@handh.co.uk 07718 584217

A year-or-so later a rigid-framed (F4F) version was reintroduced and the two Consorts continued until the rigid model was dropped in 1963, to be followed a year later by the swinging-arm type.DAS was re-registered with DVLA in 2002 and by 2016 it was with Ray Saxby, he sold it to our vendor in 2019. Engine number 171A 33851.Sold with the V5C.George Patterson’s Hudson Company would produce a range of cycles during the 1800’s and the name New Hudson was registered in Birmingham in 1896. By 1913, motorcycle production was buoyant and New Hudson produced its own 2.75 motor and was also utilising the Armstrong three speed gearbox. The marque peaked in the mid 1920's, and by 1933 motorcycle production had ceased and that situation continued until just prior to WW2 when a new range of ‘autocycle’ arrived powered by 98cc Villiers units and supplied under the New Hudson name. Post war and BSA took over the brand but the New Hudson name continued with the ‘autocycle’ range offering budget transport with their base model available at under £50. Upgrades and restyling continued over the next decade but the basic 99cc single was the final motorbike to enjoy the New Hudson monocle; the final machines left Birmingham in 1957.This machine is an older restoration in running order.

This P6 has led a remarkable life; ex-Hampshire Police, resplendent in Black as the official staff car of Earl Mountbatten of Burma, used by the Chairman of the County Council, abandoned in a piggery and finally sympathetically restored and back in uniform. In May 1975, this manual gearbox, 161bhp, V8-engined P6 3500S was supplied by Wadham Stringer in Southsea directly to Hampshire Constabulary in Winchester where it was prepared for duty as a high-speed patrol carApparently, when at motorway speeds with a fully, equipment-laden boot, the front of the car would tend to lift, leading to Rover developing a front 'splitter' which cured the problem and became a standard fitmentIn 1978, the car was quietly requisitioned and became Earl Mountbatten of Burma's official staff car when he was in the Isle of Wight. For security reasons, it was registered to the local Fire Chief and it was repainted black at Mountbatten's request as he felt that was more fitting for official dutiesAfter his unfortunate demise, the Rover was allocated to the County Council and continued to be used by the Chairman until eventually, in 1982, it was sold into private ownershipThe Rover, still in black, changed hands several times, presumably with later owners having no idea of the car's remarkable history, until eventually it was found abandoned in a piggery in Eastleigh in the late 1990s with a tree growing through itAt this time, the car's restoration commenced, being treated to panels, a new engine, police equipment including the triangular roof box and of course being repainted in its original police uniform liverySince its restoration, it's been a popular vehicle whilst on display at numerous shows and was also a cover car for Classic 999 Magazine's August 2004 editionThere is a vast amount of information about this important car, both before and after its discovery, and it's worth interested parties spending some time at our sale having a look at the Rover's fascinating history fileSpecification Make: ROVER Model: P6 Year: 1975 Chassis Number: 48113398D Registration Number: HBK 875N Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 45104898A Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 97121 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details, condition report and images
