1980 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 Saloon ProjectRegistration no. NNX 804VChassis no. 11603622006781Odometer reading: 218,000MOT: Expired*Formerly Swinford Motors' demonstrator*In dry storage since 1993*Offered for restorationFootnotes:Fast, well-engineered and luxuriously equipped in Mercedes-Benz's finest tradition, the 450 SEL 6.9 first appeared in 1974 and was hailed by Road & Track magazine as 'the fastest, best sedan in the world'. The new super saloon used the long-wheelbase bodyshell of the larger S-Class fitted with an enlarged and developed version of the overhead-camshaft V8 engine found in its predecessor and the leviathan '600' models. All Mercedes-Benz's latest safety developments were incorporated along with automatic transmission and self-levelling suspension as standard. Top speed was 140mph, with 60mph coming up in seven seconds. Formerly Swinford Motors' demonstrator, this example has been in dry storage since 1993 and is offered in need of restoration. The engine runs when connected to an auxiliary fuel supply and given a squirt of carburettor cleaner, and shows full oil pressure, while the beige velour interior just needs a clean. It is reported that much of the electrical system is in working order, including all four windows. The car has had four owners and comes with its service book stamped by Swinford Motors up to 106,000 miles and by one other firm at 134,376 miles (the current odometer reading is circa 218,000 miles). Sold strictly as viewed, the car also comes with handbooks, all MoTs, and a V5C document. Four genuine new-old-stock wings, bought directly from Mercedes, are included in the sale. Property of a deceased's estate1936 Daimler LQ3-20 All-weather Limousine ProjectCoachwork by Salmons & SonsRegistration no. BEL 510Chassis no. 36842Odometer reading: N/AMOT: Exempt*Very rare Tickford all-weather model*Taken off the road in 1987*Offered for restorationFootnotes:Originally registered in Bournemouth, this Daimler LQ3-20 was purchased by the late owner in 1983. It was used regularly until taken off the road 1987 when radiator damage occurred, causing the engine to overheat. Examination showed that the cylinder head was porous and needed welding. This has been done, although no valve seat work or re-facing has been carried out. It is expected that the crankshaft bearings need re-metalling and the crankshaft regrinding. The radiator has a new core and is ready to be re-installed. All parts removed from the vehicle have been stored and are included in he sale.Except for the roof, the body is basically sound with mostly original paint. The chassis is rolling and in good order, with five good original wheels and four new tyres. The decorative door interiors are in restorable condition and the original leather seats are complete, although the rears need restoration. The Salmons' Tickford folding roof mechanism needs attention too but is a rare feature and well worth preserving. The front grille and surround is in good order, as are the front and rear bumpers, while there is a huge rear luggage rack. The windscreen is undamaged and all the Jaeger instruments are in the original dashboard. The original parts manual and historical correspondence come with the car, which has 36,000 miles on the odometer.Vendor Score Total: 34/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1963 Ford Consul Capri Deluxe CoupéRegistration no. 287 HWCChassis no. H37D252578JEngine no. 116E 77850Odometer reading: 14,768MOT: Exempt*Rare modern Ford*Purchased at the Sharpe Collection sale in 2005*Only 14,799 miles recorded*Highly original example To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:Derived from the Consul Classic saloon and announced in the autumn of 1961, the Consul Capri was the first European-built Ford to carry the 'Capri' name. Available for little more than two seasons, the American-style Classic was an interim model produced pending the Cortina's arrival. Mechanically the Classic followed the pattern established by the Anglia 105E, featuring McPherson strut independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and a 1,340cc version of the Anglia engine. The gearbox and clutch too were carried over from the smaller car; the Classic's front disc brakes, though, were a novelty among its medium-sized family saloon contemporaries. Mechanically the Capri was identical to the Classic, as was its bodyshell from the waist down apart from minor changes to the doors. The coupé roof lowered the centre of gravity and improving the handling, while inside there were better seats and trim. In July 1962 the 1.3-litre Classic and Capri were superseded by 1,498cc variants that brought with them more power, greater flexibility, a higher top speed and an all-synchromesh gearbox. Production of all types ceased in 1964 and today these rare modern Fords enjoy an enthusiastic following. The current vendor purchased this Capri at the Sharpe Collection sale in June 2005, since when it has been carefully stored but not used. With only 14,799 miles recorded, the car is extremely original (we believe the paint is the original finish). The car has recently been re-commissioned and is said to run well.Vendor Score Total: 95/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300SLRegistration no. F437 KGPChassis no. WDB1070412A098090Odometer reading: 158,000MOT: 21/07/22*Recent full service and MOT*Wax oiled*Hard-top included The R107 Mercedes SL is one of the most elegant and successful cars to ever be produced by Mercedes-Benz. In production between 1971 and 1989, the R107 generation of SL was built during a golden era of Mercedes build quality and high-class engineering. In 1985 the R107 was updated with an improved front suspension and a choice of new engines which helped to improve comfort, handling and performance. This 1988 example is a 300SL which is powered by the smooth Mercedes 3.0-litre inline-six cylinder engine that's ideal for long distance cruising. Presented in white and with 158,000 miles from new, the car is in a presentable condition for its age and has recently had a respray to bring the car up to an acceptable standard. The convertible soft-top is in good condition, and there is also a hard-top included in the sale. Recent work on the car includes a new front gearbox pipe, new fuel lines and pipes, and a new fuel pump (with filter). The car has also been fully welded, wax oiled and MOT'd with a full engine service and transmission flush. A cherished example.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 60/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1982 Mercedes-Benz 500SL With HardtopRegistration no. NYY 22YChassis no. WDB10704622001902Odometer reading: 144,020MOT: TBC*1 owner from new *Mercedes service history*Restorative work and full respray in 2012*Meticulous history fileFootnotes:The R107 Mercedes SL is one of the most elegant and successful cars to ever be produced by Mercedes-Benz. In production between 1971 and 1989, the R107 generation of SL was built during a golden era of Mercedes build quality and high-class engineering. This is evident through the car's bulletproof powertrains which includes the torquey 5.0-litre V8 engine that powers this 1982 example. With only one owner from new, this 500SL has been very well-cared for throughout its life. This is displayed by the car's meticulous service history which includes bills and invoices totalling £52,000 being spent on maintenance over the last 39 years. Furthermore its original maintenance book, price list, and order sheet are also included. Recent work includes restorative work and a full respray being undertaken in 2012 (back to its original colours). The Sienna brown full leather interior is also still presenting very well, and options from new include full leather upholstery, ABS, rear seats, air conditioning, cruise control and heated seats. A hardtop is also included in the sale, and a new soft-top has also recently been fitted. Overall this is a lovely and cherished example of a popular and usable motorcar.Vendor Score Total: 75/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1948 Delahaye Type 135M Three-Position Drophead CoupéCoachwork by PennockRegistration no. DGZ 1135Chassis no. 800843Odometer reading: 26,679MOT: 22/04/2022*Rare three-position drophead coupé*Matching chassis and engine*Fully restored circa 15 years ago*Serviced and MoT'd in April 2021 To view a feature video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:Following WW2, the concours-winning firm of Pennock created this outstanding - and very rare - three-position drophead coupé on the Delahaye 135M chassis. Right-hand drive, like most quality French cars of the period, this matching-numbers 135M benefits from a body-off, 'last nut and bolt' restoration undertaken by its former owner - a wealthy German industrialist - some 15 years ago at a cost of £200,000. It is understood that the car had had only one previous owner. The Delahaye then formed part of the German owner's private collection for 10 years before arriving in the UK in 2017 when it was sold to an Englishman, who UK-registered the car and used it sparingly on 'high days and holidays'. Last year the car was fully serviced and fitted with a set of new tyres, while in April 2021 it was serviced again and MoT tested, the underside being videoed as its immaculate condition was admired. Said to drive beautifully, this magnificent French thoroughbred is finished in two-tone dark red/plum with fine coachlines separating the two colours, while the interior is upholstered in beige hide with dark red carpets. The fully lined hood is trimmed in beige West of England cloth. Photographs of the restoration, including the engine rebuild, are on file together with the MoT certificate; original handbook; and the UK V5C document recording only one owner in this country.Vendor Score Total: 80/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1968 Triumph Herald 13/60 EstateRegistration no. GTS 888FChassis no. N/AOdometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Barn find Herald estate*Sold for restoration*Solid bodywork*Ownership since 1981Footnotes:Styled by Giovanni Michelotti, the Triumph Herald was a popular and much loved car of the 1960s. Produced in saloon, coupe, convertible and estate body styles, the Herald was incredibly versatile, cheap and stylish. This 1968 example is a later 13/60 model which was the final update for the Herald before production came to a close in 1971. Purchased by the vendor's late husband in 1981, this Herald estate is presented as a project car and offers excellent potential. The paintwork is tired, but the body is overall solid and the red leather interior has also held up remarkably well having been stored in a barn for much of its recent life. The car also comes equipped with some history including its original old style logbook. This is an increasingly rare and very collectable classic. 1935 Wolseley Hornet 1½-Litre TourerCoachwork by Eustace WatkinsRegistration no. GW 5426Chassis no. 274 51 Car no. 105274Odometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Two owners from new*Professionally restored circa 20 years ago*Ready to be enjoyedFootnotes:Offered is a genuine Eustace Watkins-bodied Wolseley Hornet four-seat open tourer with the powerful 1½-litre six-cylinder engine. 'GW 5426' was first registered in January 1932 and has belonged to a professional motor mechanic for the last 21 years, prior to which it had had only one owner, a Mr Kalupka. It is believed that the Hornet served as the first owner's daily drive until it was laid up in 1962 and all but forgotten. Rescued from its collapsed garage, the Hornet was treated to a body-off, 'last-nut-and-bolt' restoration to a very high standard by its new owner, including a full engine rebuild and much more besides. Most notably, the original Eustace Watkins body was completely dismantled and all the ash woodwork checked and replaced as necessary. The rebuilt frame was then re-skinned in aluminium before being repainted and trimmed by local craftsmen. Now unable to drive the car anymore on account of his age, its restorer has decided to let the Hornet go. Presented in outstanding condition in every respect, having had little use, the car is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. Eligible for VSCC events, the Hornet comes with full weather equipment (hood and four side screens) and is offered with all paperwork, a V5 Registration Certificate, and its original buff logbook listing only two owners.Vendor Score Total: 80/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The present (second) owner purchased the car at Bonhams' sale at Rockingham Castle in June 2007 (Lot 321). In 2007 we said: 'Everything about this most unusual car is original, even down to the spare wheel, which is new and unused, as is the tool kit. 'YVM 9M' has been regularly serviced since its purchase; the most recent bill is for a service at 12,180 miles, only a few hundred miles ago. Probably as near to a new 1973 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow as it is possible to find, the car is accompanied by a full history file, including the original delivery note... it will be presented at the sale fresh from thorough detailing by Julian Smith.' Since the vendor's purchase, the Shadow has been kept and maintained by Storacar, while in June of this year it was serviced and MoT'd by Hillier Hill at a cost of more than £4,500. The owner has used the car for annual motoring holidays around the UK, covering some 10,000 miles during his 14-year ownership. 1977 Morgan +8 Sports Lightweight 19/19Chassis no. R8186Odometer reading: 12,387MOT: Exempt*Low mileage Plus 8 Lightweight*Number 19 of 19*4-speed manual gearbox*Owned by John McLaren (brother of Bruce) To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:A beautiful 2-seater open tourer, the Morgan Plus 8 offers subtle, elegant styling but with a hidden gem under the bonnet – the 3.5-litre Rover V8. This partnership between Rover and Morgan was largely a result of Peter Wilkes (director of Rover) attempting to purchase Morgan off of Peter Morgan. He politely declined, however the meeting did result in an agreement for the supply of the then new Rover V8 to be fitted in the new Plus 8. This 1977 Plus 8 is a very special Sports Lightweight model that is presented in a beautiful Opalescent Silver with contrasting Gunmetal grey colour scheme. Originally owned by John McLaren (brother of Bruce McLaren), this example is number 19 of just 19 Lightweights built between 1976 and 1977. The Lightweight Plus 8s are incredibly rare, and they are known for their all-aluminium bodywork handcrafted from the factory. A resident of Guernsey, John McLaren imported the car to the island and it has never left since the day it arrived (this is justified by the low mileage of just 12,387 miles). 1914 Simplex LaFrance SpeedsterRegistration no. SV 8056Chassis no. 569Odometer Reading: N/AMoT Expiry: Exempt*Unique LaFrance Speedster*9,500cc engine*Rebuilt in 1996Footnotes:Originally known as a manufacturer of fire engines and commercial vehicles, American LaFrance can trace its roots all the wat back to 1871. Upon its founding, the company originally focused on iron working, however the business then diverged and started building rotary steam engines. In 1903, the company then diverged even further and built approximately 25 chain drive cars with tube coil radiators mounted below the front of the frame. In 1909, the company then purchased and shipped Simplex chain-driven rolling chassis to their new factory in Elmira, New York, where new bodies were fitted and badged as a LaFrance. Presented here is a 1917 Simplex LaFrance Speedster that has been rebuilt in 1996. The standard of the build is high, and the car offers a truly unique open-top driving experience. Power comes from LaFrance's large four-cylinder 9½-litre engine that's paired to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The car also features 24' wooden wheels that are shod with Michelin tyres. The car also uses a modern electric starter motor. The Speedster's chassis was professionally shortened and narrowed resulting in an imposing and highly effective Edwardian special. The bodywork, interior, running gear and electrics all present well, and the car also comes with a good history file. The engine starts and runs very well. Originally available in two-wheel drive (and later four-wheel drive), the Mehari weighs just 535kg and is powered by a tiny 602cc flat-two petrol engine that is shared with the 2CV6, Dyane and Ami. A four-speed dog-leg gearbox adds to the fun nature of the vehicle and pairs well with the engine. The Mehari was mechanically very simple and it remained largely unchanged for most of its life. Minor changes included vinyl doors being fitted in 1970 (with an optional vinyl roof) and a slight stylistic update in 1978. This 1973 Mehari is a fully restored example which is presented in a beautiful Kirghiz orange colour scheme. With a restoration carried out in 2013 by The 2CV Shop in Warminster, the paintwork, bodywork and interior all present well and are in a very good condition. This model is also fitted with the optional vinyl roof which adds to its year round usability, rear seats, a tow bar and a fitted dust cover. This is a fun and unique vehicle that's ideal for use as a summer run-around.Vendor Score Total: 69/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. CBY 467GChassis no. 3576509Odometer reading: 1,283MOT: Exempt*Cavernous practical classic*Runs on either petrol or LPG*Present ownership since 2014Footnotes:Citroën first introduced an estate car or station wagon version of its revolutionary DS and ID in 1958. Built on a longer wheelbase than the saloon, it was known by different names depending on the destination market: Break in France; Safari and Estate in the UK; and Wagon in the USA. Familiales had a third row of seats, while the standard Break had two side-facing seats in the main load area at the rear. This cavernous Citroën ID21 Safari Estate was extensively restored and upgraded by a former owner - a Hungarian DS specialist - before its acquisition by the immediately preceding owner circa 2010. A left-hand drive model, '3576509' is understood to have had its 2,175cc engine converted to run on either petrol or LPG, and its semi-automatic gearbox modified to give five forward speeds. In June 2010 the car was treated to a new nearside rear wheel bearing; tow bar; front brake pads; inner driveshaft gaiters; refurbished wheels; and five new tyres by marque specialist Dave Ashworth of Blackpool. The current vendor purchased the Safari at a UK auction in June 2014, since when it has been re-sprayed in Chapron Blue over grey and a new cylinder head gasket fitted by Woodlinkin Citroën Centre of Nottinghamshire. 1930 Peugeot 190S TorpedoRegistration no. The company is the second oldest motor manufacturer in the world, having commenced car production in 1889. New for 1928, the Peugeot 190 was a direct descendent of the Quadrilette, one of the most successful examples of the 'big car in miniature'. The 190 was powered by an 719cc sidevalve engine with detachable cylinder head, which was coupled to a three-speed, worm-drive rear transaxle. Side-by-side seating replaced the Quadrilette's tandem arrangement, and now there were front-wheel brakes. An older (year 2000) restoration, this charming Vintage-era 190S Torpedo was purchased from a European private collection by the enthusiast vendor in March of this year to take part in the Longstone Light Car Race at Oulton Park. The little Peugeot finished well, running for 80 minutes and averaging 34mph! It has been used for pub trips since. Of high quality manufacture, the car features an ash body frame and aluminium body panels, and is said to have positive steering and good brakes. Other notable features include a good hood and side screens; an electric starter; and a recently renewed high-output sealed 6V battery (cost £150). UK taxes were paid in May 2021 and the car comes with Netherlands registration papers.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. HVS 546Chassis no. 39785Odometer reading: 67,473MOT: Exempt*Sold new in France*Right-hand drive*Considerable recent expensitureTo view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:A slump in demand for the products of its Saint-Denis munitions factory prompted Hotchkiss to diversify into motor manufacture in the early 1900s. The company was already a major supplier of components to the automobile industry, and right from the start the famous 'Hotchkiss Drive' (by live axle and open propeller shaft) was a feature of its cars. Its designation denoting four cylinders and 13CV, the 2.3-litre Hotchkiss 413 was introduced in 1933. This example was purchased new in 1934 by a Mr Fontane, who lived in a smart district of Paris (his nameplate is on the dashboard). Post-war the Hotchkiss was housed in a French museum before coming to the UK in 1991. The engine was then rebuilt and the car took its owner's family to Monte Carlo twice. Subsequently the Hotchkiss was owned by Branislav Sujick, who did very little with it. Described as a 'restoration project', the car was purchased at a UK auction in October 2011 by VSCC member Clive Hamilton-Gould, who rebuilt the engine including a re-bore and high-compression pistons. The current vendor purchased the Hotchkiss in 2018, since when the carburettor has been rebuilt; a new clutch fitted; the front suspension rebuilt with new bearings, kingpins, and bushes: new Hartford shock absorbers fitted to the front axle; and five new tyres fitted (in June 2021). The car's original colour scheme was British Racing Green with tan interior and gunmetal sort-top. The car was then sold to Mr Joe Rogers of Walnut Creek, California, who would cherish his beloved XK for the next 55 years, keeping it out of wet weather and preserving its originality.Sold because of Mr Rogers' advancing years, the Jaguar was brought back to the UK in 2015, sold at auction and subsequently fully restored by its new owner, including a re-spray in the original British Racing Green livery. Additionally, the engine was rebuilt; the electrics rewired; the suspension overhauled; new wire wheels fitted; a stainless exhaust installed; and a Guy Broad five-speed gearbox fitted. 1962 Riley 1.5 Make: Riley Model: 1.5Year: 1962Mileage: 72182VIN: RH522357Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: UDO617Transmission: manualThe Riley 1.5 - or One-Point-Five, as BMC insisted on calling it - was a clever re-invention of the Morris Minor, using its floorpan, suspension and steering, but utilising the larger 1489cc B-Series engine and gearbox as found in the MG Magnette. It shared its styling with the Wolseley 1500, but twin carburettors gave the Riley almost 20bhp more than its luxury sibling, endowing it with 68bhp. This example, in black with nice pale grey leather interior (and nicknamed Lanc, in reference to its numberplate and 'The Dambusters' 617 Squadron), was purchased by the vendor in 2007 and completely rebuilt. All the invoices and receipts for this are included in the history folder, and there are also many more bills since then; in total, they add up to many thousands and are handily itemised across several sheets of paper. Also present are the current and past V5s, a workshop manual, assorted past lists, MoTs back to 1997 and a spare key. The vendor advises us that there is a problem with the ignition switch, but the car does start and run, and the clutch/brake fluid is low and will need bleeding.

The car was stripped, with its engine, gearbox and interior out, and body and chassis repairs carried out. Five wire wheels, with tyres, were fitted (with the wheels themselves coming to £775), and and the engine checked over, with repairs to the gearbox and back axle. New brake pipes were installed while, inside, the dash and door cappings were re-veneered, and the carpets and headlining were replaced. The history folder includes MoTs back to 2009, but going back considerably further, there's the original 1968 green logbook, as well as the operating, maintenance and service handbook, Jaguar service facilities booklet, maintenance chart, service vouchers and other documentation given when the car was brand new, all still in their Jaguar-branded plastic folder. There are a great many bills and receipts dating back to the 1990s, all testifying to a car that has been well-looked after during the last few decades. A lot of these have been handily itemised on a couple of handwritten sheets by one of the owners. For those happy to get their hands dirty, there's a hefty genuine Jaguar workshop manual as well. The car's condition remains very good inside and out. The current odometer reading is 59,027 miles. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 20TH JULY BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

1966 Mercedes Benz 220 SE Auto Cabriolet Make: Mercedes Model: 220 SE Year: 1966Mileage: 30587VIN: 11102322079111Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: FUN484DTransmission: automatic Nicknamed Gloria, this 1966 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Cabriolet was acquired by the vendor in 2000, from a family cousin who owned it from 1981. Prior to that, it's believed that the car was purchased new for use by the chairman of ICI. The present owner has used the car for trips abroad including France and Malta. And it was in Malta, during the early part of the 21st century, that it was restored according to the history file; a task not without incident, as the gearbox parts were stolen en route from Scotland to Malta, and the subsequent delay to the rebuild resulted in Malta customs authorities threatening to impound the car. There's an eye-watering amount of paperwork (albeit only dating back to the 1990s), showing lots of care and attention for even minor issues, and a great deal of expenditure. Some of the more recent jobs involved an engine tune-up in May of this year, rectification of a hot indicator stalk, and new padding for the driver's seat. The selection of MoTs (and other paperwork) suggest the current indicated mileage of 130,587 is genuine. The last MoT expired in April 2019; the car was at 127,710 miles when that test was undertaken. The files also contain the original owner's manual, relevant magazine articles, parts lists and diagrams, old tax discs and photos taken throughout the car's life. The Mercedes-Benz is now in need of some work, with bubbling apparent on both headlamp peaks, the rear quarters, and around the rear wheel arches, most significantly the nearside one. See our pictures for more detail. Inside, there's sun damage to the top of the wooden dash - a common issue with these cars - plus wear to the black leather seats. Ten of its 44 years were spent in storage. He reports it as 'running and driving well, with a responsive gearbox'. The paperwork file includes some past MoT certificates (with the current one expiring in August 2022) plus bills dating back to the 1980s. These show what appears to be a replacement reconditioned engine in 1990 and body restoration work around the same time, when the colour was changed from red to the current Heritage White. There are also references on a sheet of paper to a reconditioned automatic transmission and differential, new Mohair hood, large core radiator, steering rack electronic ignition and electronic water pump being fitted as well, although the exact dates for these are unclear. An aftermarket service record booklet (albeit with two stamps ? 25,578 miles in 2013 and 25,590 miles in 2014) and a modern facsimile of the owner's handbook are also in the file. The Stag's interior and exterior condition is generally good, although the vendor reports that the hood zip needs replacing, and it does have a few small holes on its left-hand side.

1977 Triumph Stag 3.0 Make: Triumph Model: Stag Year: 1977Mileage: 40000VIN: LD42654AConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: BCX361RTransmission: manualThe vendor describes this Triumph Stag as a much-loved car which is only being sold due to health issues. With 41,120 miles recorded on its odometer - albeit unwarranted - and four former owners, it is in lovely condition throughout and comes with spares and a restored hard-top. Upgrades inside include a burr walnut dashboard and modern Alpine stereo system with large speakers behind the rear seats. The paperwork folder includes the V5 and invoices for servicing, maintenance and parts dating back to the first decade of the 20th century. There's even a Christmas card from the specialist who renovated the car's hard-top, complete with a picture of the roof undergoing work on its front, plus a British Leyland warranty for the secondhand purchase of the car in April 1981. Fast forward 31 years, and the car went into storage in 2009, emerging only for a couple of MoTs in 2010 and 2011 before staying off the roads completely until this year. From its 2009 MoT until now, the car has only covered around 700 miles, with the current recorded mileage 87,037. Recommissioning of the Stag cost around £4000 and was done by Stag specialist E J Ward. The work included a reconditioned gearbox, new alternator, battery, radiator, electronic ignition, distributor cap, plug leads, fuel filter and drive belts. It was also serviced and given an MoT, which expires in July 2022. The Stag was fully restored in 1999, with the job including new front wings, rear wheel arches, sills, A-post drip rails, bare metal respray, overhauled cylinder heads and carburettors, plus soft-top frame and new cover. Despite its rebuild being over 20 years ago, the car's conditions remains generally very good, with the vendor advising us that it 'drives very well with a lovely sounding engine'. Inside, the dashboard has been upgraded with burr walnut veneer. There is a huge history file that accompanies the car, starting with its original bill of sale and including MoTs back to 1992. The V5 is present.

1973 VW Super Beetle Cabriolet LHDMake: Volkswagen Model: Beetle Year: 1973Mileage: 66793VIN: 1532910529Configuration: Left Hand DriveRegistration: DBY51MTransmission: manualTempting as it is to believe that Volkswagen Beetles remained the same throughout the model's very long life, VW continuously improved the cars - just not so that it was necessarily that noticeable from the outside. The 1303 Super was arguably the high point of the Type 1's development, with McPherson strut front suspension, a larger, panoramic windscreen, chunky 'elephant foot' tail-lamps and a modernised, more safety-conscious dashboard. They also sported a more powerful 1584cc engine. It is believed this left-hand drive example, manufactured in June 1973, originally went to the United States, although there's no paperwork confirming this. At that point it was black. It came to the UK in 1983. Within the few years, it has received a considerable amount of work, to transform it into the stylish blue and white convertible it is now. The smart black and white 14in alloy wheels were refurbished in 2015 at a cost of £422. During 2017 and 2018, the Beetle was extensively rebuilt at a cost of several thousands when, presumably, it was given its current metallic blue and white two-tone colour scheme. The bills from this period include a 1641cc engine upgrade (£1300), Weber dual carburettor kit (£499), gearbox rebuild, alternator upgrade, front disc brake upgrade, new steering box, fresh carpets and trim (£530) and re-upholstered seats. Still comparatively fresh from such a lot of work, the Beetle is in very good condition inside and out.

1972 Jaguar E-Type SIII 5.3 V12 Manual CoupeMake: JaguarModel: E-Type Year: 1972Mileage: 0VIN: UD1S74017BWConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: JSL722L Transmission: manual Like so many Jaguar E-types, this V12 coupe headed over the Atlantic after it was built in 1972, to be sold as a new car in the United States. And, again like so many British sports cars, it eventually returned back to the UK, coming back to these shores in April 1996. One of the previous owners records in the paperwork that 'by that time, it was right-hand drive, manual, and finished in British Racing Green with Magnolia interior', having started life as a silver automatic with black interior. However, the date of the change to RHD and manual gearbox can't be confirmed from the paperwork. In 1998, it was stripped down and bodily restored, along with an engine rebuild, at which point the speedometer was zeroed. By its MoT of September 2001, it was recorded as having covered just 137 miles. In the paperwork file is the V5 and copies of previous V5s, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate - showing the car began life as a silver Series III automatic with black interior - and bills from the late 1990s onwards. These show the fitment of polyurethane front bushing during 2006, and another complete engine rebuild with new parts plus gearbox work in 2008 at a cost of close to £10,000 (at 6110 miles). There are also assorted pictures and MoTs dating back to 2001, along with sundry paperwork and a spare set of keys. Most useful to any new owner is a printed email from a previous owner detailing all the work done on the Jaguar from 1996 through to 2015, when the recorded mileage was 9940. The odometer currently reads 13,058. The E-type is in very good overall condition, with just some minor age-related wear to the cream leather interior, which would presumably have been re-done during the car's US days. 1993 Fiat Panda 1000 CLX IEMake: Fiat Model: Panda Year: 1993Mileage: 85000VIN: ZFA141A0008043346Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: L294MYBTransmission: manualTowards the end of the Fiat Panda's market life in the UK during the mid-1990s, efforts were made to update what had started out in 1980 as a very basic machine. More modern FIRE engines had been adopted in the mid-1980s, fuel injection arrived at the start of the 1990s, and with the introduction of the new, better-equipped CLX model, there was a five-speed gearbox as well. This 1993 model has both fuel injection and the five-speed 'box with its 999cc FIRE engine. The vendor advises us that the car has recently had new tyres, battery, exhaust, left-hand headlight and coolant expansion tank, and is MoT'd until December 2021. He also reports that a new bonnet cable is required (although the bonnet can still be opened by one person, by pulling its catch and simultaneously pulling the bonnet up on one side) and the rear wiper needs attention. Both the hatchback door and and the bonnet exhibit some crumpling and denting. The odometer records 85,846 miles although, with no paperwork beyond the V5 and current MoT certificate, this is unwarranted.

When it became clear that there still was a future for al fresco motoring in the marque's biggest marketplace, Jaguar introduced the XJ-SC during 1983. This wasn't a full convertible, but rather a Targa-roofed variant with a removable soft-top at the rear. It lasted until 1988 when it was replaced by a full convertible model. Thus, the XJ-SC is quite a rare XJ-S variant now. This Claret six-cylinder example, with 3590cc AJ6 engine and manual gearbox, has had nine previous keepers, and is MoT'd until July 2022. The V5 is present in the history file, which also comes with a large stack of service and maintenance bills stretching back to the late 1980s, MoTs dating back to 1988 - thus confirming the recorded mileage of 96,844 - and a 2006 copy of Jaguar Enthusiast magazine. The original Jaguar document folder is also included, containing the electrical data chart, list of dealerships, Jaguar guarantee, owner's handbooks, service booklet stamped up to 86,492 miles in 2002 and even a customer care questionnaire for the supplying Julians of Reading dealership. There are spare keys as well. Overall condition of this XJ-SC is very good, albeit with a few marks on the nearside rear wheel arch. Both the cabin wood and beige leather are holding up well, and the hood is in good order. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 20TH AUGUST BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

Its most recent appearances were during 2020, when it was the subject of a multi-part engine rebuild feature chronicled in Practical Performance Car magazine, upping capacity (and power, naturally) to 3.1 litres from the standard 2.4 litres. The process, documented from the March 2020 issue onwards, included a long stroke Nissan diesel crankshaft (83mm as opposed to 73.7mm), longer rods, and block bored out to accept 89mm pistons, raising the cubic capacity to 3098cc. There's a five-speed gearbox, while handling has been enhanced with the fitment of Gaz coilovers. Although the car was restored quite a while ago in 1990, at a cost of £2700, its condition is still extremely good, both inside and out. That it has been extremely well-looked after since then is confirmed by the large history folder that includes many MoTs from 1988 onwards, invoices dating back to the same period, and photocopies of past 'logbook' documents. The current mileage is recorded as 22,309, but this is unwarranted. However, as the mileage at its 1996 MoT was just 20,531, it's clear that this car has been lightly used over the last quarter of a century. 1974 Ford Capri 3.6 V8 FF MKIIMake: Ford Model: Capri Year: 1974Mileage: 32333VIN: GAECPT01013Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: RJH170Transmission: Contact AuctioneerThis very special car, purchased by the vendors parents in 1983, has been unused for many years, is not running and will require restoration. It started out as a run of the mill Capri MK 2 Ghia that was sent down to Harry Ferguson in Coventry to be fitted with one of his four- wheel drive, electronic anti skid systems. At the same time, a blue printed and bench tested Alan Smith 3.6 litre Oldsmobile V8 was fitted, set up for future turbocharging. The original gearbox was replaced with a blueprinted and uprated Borg-Warner 65 auto box and Laycock J type overdrive. Cooling was looked after by a purpose made Marston crossflow 4-row radiator with twin cooling fans. A long range 22 gallon fuel tank was also fitted giving a 500 mile range. Along with the custom paint job, Thrush Sidekick exhaust silencers, Koni strutt dampers, Wolfrace wheels, 'Frigiking' air conditioning and Recaro seats with built in Blaupunkt stereo headrests. All in, the car cost £15,572, a huge sum in the mid 1970's. Comes complete with MoTs dating from the 1980s, magazine article, 1983 bill of sale, specification sheets and a handful of receipts. The mileage is recorded at 32,333. Eight owners from new.
