ETU 394Chassis no. 10779Odometer Reading: 86,603MoT Expiry: n/a *Late example of the Seven*Older restoration that has lasted well*Running well The first owner of this Big Seven would surely have been very proud of their car. Here was room for the family to enjoy Sunday drives into the country or to the seaside, while Austin's strong dealer network was reassuring for those wanting to drive further afield. This is an older restored example with good bodywork, paint and glass. The interior is original but is worn. SC33E-2014558Odometer reading: 11,503 MilesMoT expiry date: 15 May 2007* Purchased new by the late owner* Good cosmetic condition* Requiring recommissioning Launched in 1992, Honda's Fireblade rewrote the rulebook and blew away the opposition and went on to change the face of sportsbikes. The brainchild of Honda designer Tadao Baba, he was obsessed with weight saving and the 'Blade' used the latest technology together with a 122bhp 893cc engine, gradually enlarged throughout production. 1996 saw major changes to the CBR900RR including revised suspension and chassis. This 918cc third generation CBR900RR was purchased new by its late owner in May 1996 from Wylie & Holland Motor Cycles of Market Drayton. Used regularly until c.2006 alongside his stable of other sportsbikes, the machine was maintained by his personal mechanic. Last run and worked on in May/June 2017 (with the assistance of a slave battery), the machine is believed to have carburettor issues and is therefore sold strictly as viewed, requiring a replacement battery and recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent. 1939 Alvis Speed Twenty-Five Sports Registration no. The bodywork was constructed around 1971 and circa. six years later it was bought by the vendor. Reportedly, recent work has included flushing the cooling system and overhauling the gearbox. Note – the original hand-operated chassis oil pump (still in position) has been superseded by grease nipples. Built as a copy of a Rivers Fletcher design, this Speed Twenty Five comes from long-term ownership and is an ideal entrant for many classic events, including the Flying Scotsman Rally. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: PP This lot is owned by a private individual. This 1937 model is an older restoration that is generally, in terms of body, paint and trim still tidy, although there is a small area of woodworm to the nearside rear pillar and the door rubbers have perished. The interior has lasted well but the vinyl re-trim now shows some discolouration. Mechanically it is good, the flathead V8 is said to be sound, as is the running gear. 1939 MG WA Drophead CoupéRegistration no. 680 UYGChassis no. WA 0417Mileage: TBAMoT: Exempt *Restored between 2008 and 2014*Coachwork in the style of Basle's Reinbolt & Christe*Originally exported to Africa Built in early 1939 and shipped to Nyasaland (today, Malawi) by 2000 it was in South Africa in rolling chassis form with front bulkhead, bonnet front wings and radiator shell, but minus bodywork. It returned to the UK in that form in 2001, its buyer planning a restoration, but in 2007 it was sold to the vendor and handed over to SVW Services who, with the remit of constructing a body like those of Reinbolt and Christe, constructed the ash frame before it being paneled by Geoff Henderson. The vendor overhauled the engine (believed to have covered around 40,000 miles) and re-built the gearbox, fitting new synchromesh on second, third and top gears, while inside the dashboard was French polished to match the rest of the internal wood. Presented in very dark blue with a grey interior, it cuts an impressive air and it is said total restoration costs came to £75,000. A highly elegant one-off mimicking the designs of Reinbolt and Christe, this WA has seen trips to Scotland and further afield to France and Switzerland. Closer inspection is recommended. This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: PP This lot is owned by a private individual. The dashboard is reported to have a full set of the correct instruments, and the odometer reads 9,405 miles since restoration, just 700 of which are said to have been covered in the last 10 years. Here is a left-hand drive 1958 model that is said to be running and driving well, a testament to the rugged underpinnings Peugeots had for many years. The bodywork remains solid but there are some rust patches on the horizontal panels: the interior is believed to be original but seat facings, door cards and dashboard are in good order, as is the boot. Many examples enjoyed long-term ownership and today there is a strong following for them. Presenting well, this restored 100 enjoys very good panel fit and good paint: chrome and glass are in similar order. P4 interiors were always a strong point and this car's is no exception. 1973 Triumph SpitfireRegistration no. YDO 5LChassis no. FH44718DOdometer Reading: 36000MOT: 16/05/2020*Recent Mechanical Work*Runs and Drives Well*Good ExampleSpitfires are highly credible rivals to the MG Midget, being cheap to run, easy to work and backed by great clubs and spares support. With lighter evenings and fairer weather soon with us this highly appealing example has much appeal, particularly as the bodywork and trim are in very good order, as is the glass. The interior too presents very well – more fastidious enthusiasts will be pleased to know this car's seats; door cards and carpets will not require replacing in the near future. Spitfires are well regarded for their mechanicals which while relatively simple are rugged and easy to work on. Our vendor says this car is an excellent starter and that it runs very well, while cosmetically there is some room to perk things up, while the gearbox, clutch and suspension are rated as good. There is some history. In all potentially immense fun but affordable too, which firmly underline's the Spitfire's appeal. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Please note the MoT expiry date is 06/03/2021, not as catalogued. Please note the hardtop has been on this car for nearly all it's life and so the soft top and tonneau are in very good condition, and there is no rust within the car. Please note the correct chassis number is FH44718.Vendor Score Total: 72/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The Property of Robbie Coltrane1964 Jaguar Mk2 3.4-Litre SaloonRegistration no. HOO 449BChassis no. 164567DNOdometer Reading: 40,009MoT Expiry: 17/04/2020*Features mechanical upgrades*Engine re-built in 2002*Good bodyworkSitting between the entry-level 2.4 and the range-topping 3.8 many Jaguar cognescenti regard the 3.4 as the best of the trio, its mix of handling and performance not being bettered by the bigger-engined model. Noted actor Robbie Coltrane bought this manual gearbox model from Bonhams in 1998 and during his 22 years' ownership it has enjoyed some sensible modifications including upgraded brakes and steering, as well as a five-speed manual gearbox. Marque specialists Vicarage re-built the engine in 2002 following an engine fire (recorded as a Category C) while two years ago Alyth Restorations carried out £32,000-worth of work. It should be noted that a 240 dashboard is fitted featuring the sliding choke control. It starts and runs well, the running gear is said to be in generally good order, as are the electrics. Bodywork, paint and wheels remain in very good condition. Interior-wise the seats are in good fettle while door cards, dashboard and headlining offer scope for some improvement if required. Market readjustment has seen 'Mk2' values becoming more sensible and these models are once again temptingly priced, as this desirable-specification 3.4 shows. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 70/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. RC46E2002895Odometer reading: Unknown – 19,922 miles to last 2015 MOTMoT expiry date: 6 April 2016* Purchased new by the late owner* Good cosmetic condition* Requiring recommissioning With a formidable reputation for reliability and good build quality, the VFR800 paid homage to many of its predecessors, inheriting much of its engine design from the legendary RC45 of 1994, but with a detuned and longer-stroke powerplant. The VFR800 used its engine as a stressed member, initially seen in the VTR Firestorm and retained the trademark single sided swingarm we have all come to love. Purchased new by the late owner January 1998 from Wylie & Holland Motor Cycles of Market Drayton, the machine was used regularly up until April 2016 (last MOT date, displaying 19,922 miles). Last started April 2018 by the late owner's mechanic (with the assistance of a slave battery), the machine has been standing unused since, and requires a replacement battery (hence the absence of a current odometer reading). Accordingly, the machine will require recommissioning or restoration to a greater or lesser extent and is therefore sold strictly as viewed. Offered with V5C, old V5, expired MOT's, original purchase receipt and Datatag correspondence. It should be noted the VIN number/prefix has been incorrectly recorded on the V5/C documents from new (VFR800F1WE0002617) despite featuring correctly on the upper chassis.Footnotes:Sellers' Assessments Score Total: 58/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1951 Land Rover Series 1Registration no. USJ 597Chassis no. 26102623Mileage: TBCMoT: TBC*Running well*Good mellowed condition*Some historyStill in use throughout the world and still immeasurably popular Land Rovers have been involved in almost every form of trade or task and even early examples, such as this 1951 model remain highly useful. This example starts and runs well and engine and gearbox are said to be generally good, as are the brakes, steering and suspension. Body and paint are good to fair but Land Rovers – and especially older ones – are one classic where appearance isn't all about looking showroom fresh. The interior is eminently usable and generally good, and we advised there is some history. An ideal daily driver that would score serious cool points on the school run, for shopping errands or load-lugging, this is one early Landie not to be missed.A particularly appealing earlier model that enjoys a wonderfully-patinated aura and generally good mechanicals.Footnotes:Please note the odometer reading is 37,442.Vendor Score Total: 60/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1956 Bedford RL Green Goddess Registration no. PGW 158Chassis no. 7559Mileage: TBAMoT: Exempt*From the Cornbury Park Estate*Well maintained*Generally good orderThe Bedford RL 'Green Goddess' has played a significant role in British military and social history, standing in when required in civilian life while firmly remaining part of the Army. Down the years many have been sold off with a large number ending up in the hands of collectors who have continued to maintain military levels of maintenance and preservation. This model remains in the very best of condition, its paint and generous-sized bodywork in very good order. No longer fighting fires it has spent the past few years keeping its pumps and busy on the Cornbury Park estate, where it has been used for plant watering. Glass, wheels and tyres are very good too while the unsurprisingly generous interior has tidy seats and trim. Years of maintenance means this example starts and runs well, but it also presents well and the suspension and brakes are good too. There is some history. Potentially a highly usable classic with room for plenty of people, there is no getting away from this RL's big-hearted character.Bonhams' well-maintained example of this much-valued commercial vehicle not only presents well, but is reported to be running and driving well. It is an ideal way of ferrying plenty of friends to the local.Footnotes:Please note the odometer reading is 3,587 miles.Vendor Score Total: 78/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1952 Riley RMB SaloonRegistration no. LWD 371Chassis no. 6259219Odometer Reading: TBAMoT Expiry: Exempt *Full mechanical restoration*Garaged from 1961 to 1995*Said to be driving well The Riley RMB offered post-war British car buyers levels of social sophistication not found in more mass-produced models from the likes of Ford and Vauxhall. While its appearance seemed dated by those newly-introduced, Stateside-influenced models the Riley enjoyed a loyal, comfortably well-off clientele who valued the Riley name and the make's social standing. Here is a 1952 RMB that was used until 1961 and then garaged until 1995. It has since enjoyed a mechanical restoration, the vendor reporting it driving well, but following Riley Motor Club advice the body and interior was not restored. While the term 'oily rag' is over-used in today's classic circles, this still-debonair RMB retains the elegance that would have appealed to its first owner in 1952. MPH's example comes to market in very good condition, showing very good bodywork, paint, wheels with new tyres and tubes. Body panels were given a re-spray (to the tune of £2000) in the correct Carmine Red/Ivory scheme, with a new bonnet, badges and related fittings added. Other work includes a new exhaust, wiring loom and lights as well as a steering wheel and gauges. GCATL97706Odometer Reading: One mile since restorationMoT Expiry: 28/1/2020*Complete nut and bolt restoration*Rarely seen in this condition*Sensibly guidedEven the most distanced classic market watcher cannot have escaped the rising values of fast Fords in the past, but those with a blue oval appreciation would already have known about their excellent engineering, handling and performance, usually clothed in a relatively everyman bodyshell. The problem for today's would-be owner is finding a suitable car, so for anyone in the market for a Mk2 Escort RS2000, MPH proudly suggest this 1977 example. It was bought by the vendor two years ago and given a full, complete and intense nut-and-bolt restoration. The results speak for themselves or, as out vendor says, 'you won't find a better example on the market!'. It is clear the attention to detail cannot have been bettered: the bodywork and paint attest to careful execution, whether it is the straightness and alignment of the body panels, the application of the red paintwork or even the presentation of the external black trim, it is in the engine bay that attention to detail lives on. The interior is equally outstanding – seats, carpet, door panels and dashboard demonstrate a showroom-new air that is all-too-often never properly achieved. Equal attention has been applied to the car's underside and also its mechanicals, the vendor reporting the engine and the running gear are in excellent order throughout. In all, a thoroughly tempting offering for any fast Ford enthusiasts, or anyone who likes everyman performance cars from the pre-hatchback era. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Please note the odometer reading is 17.Please note the correct chassis number is GCATSL97706Vendor Score Total: 100/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1990 Honda VFR750F-LRegistration no. G96 KNTFrame no. RC36-2003200Engine no. RC36E2003066Odometer reading: 16,389 milesMoT expiry date: 6 August 2018* Two owners from new* Good cosmetic condition* Requiring recommissioning Introduced in 1986, Honda's VFR750F had a lot to live up to. A capable sports bike, introduced to compete with the likes of Suzuki's GSX-R750 and Yamaha's FZ750, it performed incredibly well as an all-round 'sports tourer'. Purchased new by the vendor's late employer, the machine is presented in very good cosmetic condition, an honest and genuine example. The only obvious deviation from factory specification being an older Honda-type vented rectifier to combat the age-old problems with the later item. The machine is offered with two keys, an owner's manual, toolkit and V5C. The machine has been turned over regularly with a slave battery but has seen little use in recent years. Accordingly, the machine will require a replacement battery together with recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent and is therefore sold strictly as viewed. A fantastic opportunity to purchase a rapidly appreciating classic.Footnotes:Sellers' Assessments Score Total: 62/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. MPH's car has covered 10,000 miles since being restored and its bodywork is excellent, the paint very good bar an easily-repaired scratch to the bootlid. External trim, glass and 'Mexican hat' alloy wheels remain in very good order. The interior is testament to Mercedes-Benz build quality of this era with excellent cloth seats, while the dashboard and trim are presenting very well. Custom-made sheepskin seat and rear shelf covers are fitted. The boot is in equally good order. Starting and running well, the vendor notes that the air condition has been re-gassed prior to sale. The electrical system is in very good condition and an Alpine stereo is fitted. Just presented for MOT and passed expiring May 2021. A restored example of the ever-popular R107, fitted with hard- and soft-tops and the desirable 'Mexican hat' alloy wheels. The bodywork and interior are in very good condition. WBAEA820108165522Odometer: 71000MOT: 14/10/2020*Good History File*Runs and Drives Well*Comes with current MoTThe 6-series was BMW's XJ-S challenger, and today its popularity continues unabated as it remains a first-rate latter-day classic that is capable of daily use and covering high mileages. MPH's 628CSi has some service history (there are several BMW dealer service stamps in the book) and, overall, presents well. The bodywork and silver metallic paint is good, the panel fit good too and our vendor notes with a little effort this '6' could be made into an excellent example. 6-series interiors were always elegantly functional and this car's – more unusually in blue – has leather seats and is all original but remains in good order. Engine-wise it starts and runs well, and the engine bay is tidy. Running gear is also good. Keenly estimated this 628CSi looks good value and has scope for the new owner to add their mark. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 67/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1988 BMW 635 CSIRegistration no. F828 MLTChassis no. WBAEC820508187873Odometer: 230700MOT: 01/11/2020*Good Example*Comes with MoT*Good Service HistoryThe 6-Series remains a favourite not only with dedicated BMW enthusiasts but those who appreciate a true latter-day grand tourer. Hailing from the same era as Jaguar's XJ-S and the Porsche 928, the '6' more than amply followed in the wheel tracks of its E9 3.0CSi predecessor, winning loyal followers across the globe. The UK proved a large market and today's classic market rates the model highly and MPH is delighted to offer this fine 1988 automatic-transmission 635CSi model, which comes with very good history. The vendor tells us the engine was replaced with a genuine BMW exchange unit in 2004 (with the engine bill on file) and is said to start and run very well. All other mechanical components are also in very good order. The bodywork is in very good order, showing extremely good panel fit and shut lines, and the light metallic blue paintwork presents extremely well too, as does the glass while the engine bay has been well-maintained. Interior-wise the grey leather seats are very tidy and free of neglect, as is the carpet, while the dashboard and trim are crack- and damage-free. MPH is pleased to offer this fine 635, and while there is a healthy supply of examples available, finding a good one is trickier. Here is a well-presented, well cared-for example with good history. It is sure to appeal to the discerning 1980s grand tourer enthusiast. With good-condition bodywork and paint, a good interior and genuine BMW replacement engine in 2004, here is a highly tempting example of the bigger-engined 6-series.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 80/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1991 Land Rover Range Rover CSKRegistration no. H254JNFChassis no. SALLHABM3GA462052Odometer Reading: 110,000MoT Expiry: TBC *Rarely seen*Very good bodywork and paint*Mechanically very good The limited-edition CSK revived Range Rover's two-door bodyshell in limited edition form, selling out almost immediately as serious enthusiasts clamoured to be one of a very select group. Today, while not exactly granted mythical status, the CSK remains one of the most highly-desirable first-generation derivatives, being keenly snapped up when offered. Here is a fine example with very good bodywork and panel fit, and the black paint remains very smart, as does the trim. Worth noting is that the CSK decals to the tailgate and front wings are n place. Equally pleasing is the interior, which has mellowed lightly over the years. Seats are very good and the door cards equally smart, as is the dashboard. Sitting correctly and riding on very good original-specification alloy wheels here is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to expand – or indeed start – a Range Rover collection. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Please note mileage is 172,360 miles, not as catalogued.Vendor Score Total: 78/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The Ex-Robert Plant2002 Audi S8Registration no. VA02 UNHChassis no. WAUZZZ4D42N007566Odometer Reading: 199,800MoT Expiry: TBC*Offered with signed picture of Robert Plant*Running well*Good history fileOriginally owned by Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant, this highly-specified and little-seen Audi S8 boasts some unique-to-year options and remains in excellent order given its age and mileage. With the bodyshell and panels made from aluminium there is no rust, and the panels present very well and the paint is very good with just a couple of small imperfections. The front tyres are showing signs of wear. Inside it is much the same, featuring a very good-order interior trimmed in leather and suede, seats front and rear being heated, while the generous specification includes factory-installed navigation system and parking sensors. While stored for two years – and consequently due a service and MoT test, the engine is said to start and run well and the running gear is said to be in commensurate order. Service history (including cambelt changes) consists of invoices and stamps to 165,000 miles, while receipts large sums spent on suspension re-freshing. With three subsequent owners after Robert Plant (whose signature appears on the PDI sheet), this S8, with first-class rock and roll credentials and covering just over 400 miles since passing its last MoT test, is certainly worth closer inspection. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. This 2003 SL350 in wallet-friendly 350 guise ticks the boxes in terms of condition bodily, internally and mechanically, but our vendor notes that the service history, bar that for recent work, is missing. The bodywork, silver metallic paint and trim are said to be in excellent order while the alloy wheels have been re-furbished and fitted with new tyres. The interior too is in very good condition and with lighter evenings and warmer temperatures not too far away the panoramic roof is working perfectly. The engine, which is running well, has recently been serviced and new discs, pads and suspension bushes have been fitted, as have new batteries. With an MoT test that expires in April, this 350SL is sensibly guided and potentially offers great value for money. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Please note the correct chassis number is WDB2304672F05658.Vendor Score Total: 89/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The 851 paved the way for so many of the Italian manufacture's superbikes. Believed to have been purchased new by the late owner in September 1992 from Woods Motorcycles of Abergele, Clwyd (the 1992 purchase receipt failing to record a km reading), the machine is believed to have been maintained by his mechanic however, there is no service history on file and it is unknown whether the cam timing belts have ever been changed. Similarly, the machine's battery is flat. Accordingly, the machine is offered strictly as viewed, requiring recommissioning and or restoration to a greater or lesser extent. Offered with V5C, old V5, 1992 purchase receipt and a selection of expired MOT's.Footnotes:Sellers' Assessments Score Total: 46/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 2005 Maserati QuattroporteRegistration no. PNZ 3092Chassis no. ZAMCD39C000018747Odometer Reading: 72,684MoT Expiry: 07/31/2020 *Main dealer and specialist service*One owner since 2011*New correct-specification Pirelli tyres fitted 1000 miles ago The Maserati Quattroporte took the idea of a sporting saloon and made it more grown-up as a high-performance luxury saloon, and Fiat's guidance helped create a high-quality product that drew on previous Quattroporte models. This 2005 example has very good panels, excellent glass and external trim, and good paint – in this case, a lesser-seen red. The two-tone (red and black) interior has lasted very well, with seats, door cards, dashboard and headlining all said to be excellent. The high specification includes electric rear screen blinds, electric and heated rear seats and built-in satellite navigation. Careful maintenance, as the service history suggests, means the engine's starting and running is said to be excellent (the underbonnet area is extremely tidy) and running gear is excellent. A new clutch and flywheel was fitted at 64,000 miles which, at 71,500 miles, is shown as nine percent worn. The Quattroporte successfully combines a high-performance car's speed and handling with premium luxury, and this high-specification, very well-maintained example warrants a closer inspection. With new tyres 1000 miles ago and a recent clutch/flywheel, it should not be missed.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 86/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. JTJBC11A502018721Odometer: 174000MOT: 14/08/2020*Hybrid Car*Good Example*Runs and Drives WellThe Lexus range has expanded over the years from the original LS400 model into other saloons, sports cars and SUVs and the RX450 took European manufacturers on at their own game, while successfully upping the reliability and build quality ante to new levels for an SUV. MPH's 2010 RX450 has covered 174,000 miles from new but that mileage has been backed by a full Lexus service history, meaning it is good carry on racking up the distances while cosseting its occupants in superior comfort. This example boasts extremely good bodywork and paint, boasting first-class shut lines and no bumper scuffing. The interior is equally good, showing no signs or wear or maltreatment – a testament not only to Lexus build quality and material selection but to careful ownership. Engine, gearbox and running gear are all said to be very good. As a viable alternative to the later-generation Range Rovers the 450 makes great sense and this well cared-for model warrants closer inspection. 1986 Ducati 1,000cc Mike Hailwood Replica 'Mille'Registration no. C479 JGLFrame no. ZDM1000R100700Engine no. ZDM1000100905Odometer reading: 14,783 km (Not Warranted)MoT expiry date: 6 March 2021*135mph state of the art road going motorcycle*An icon of the 1970s and 80s*Ray Petty Meccanica dating letterA landmark model, the Mike Hailwood Replica owes its existence to Mike The Bike's legendary Isle of Man TT comeback victory in the 1978 Production Race riding an ex-works NCR bike entered by Sports Motor Cycles. Based on the production 900SS, the MHR's most obvious difference was the full fairing finished in red, green and white. Mechanical changes were confined to lighter wheels, usually by Campagnolo, and improved Brembo brakes, while the MHR's performance was pretty much the same as that of the 900SS: around 135mph flat-out. The MHR presented here is usually nicknamed the 'Hailwood Mille', getting a 1,000cc engine, a factory electric starter and a large fairing. The vendor purchased the machine from Yoshi Kosaka of The Garage Company in California and imported it direct from Japan 4 years ago. Recently MoT'd with no advisories, the machine is reported by the private seller to be running well. The machine was recently checked over by leading Ducati specialist Ray Petty Meccanica and had one of the carburettors floats unstuck and then synced. Offered with a V5C, Ray Petty Meccanica dating letter stating that the machine is a genuine example, and Ducati Owners Club Motorcycle Age Certificate stating that this example is from the final production run of this model.Footnotes:Sellers' Assessments Score Total: 80/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4Registration no. OXW 86Chassis no. LML633Odometer Reading: circa 87,838MoT Expiry: Exempt *Much potential – restore or preserve?*Engine rebuilt in 2008*Very good history Showing a believed-genuine circa 87,838 miles on the clock, MPH's matching-numbers (engine/chassis) DB2/4 was bought by the now-deceased owner in August 1985 from Nigel Dawes. Initially the car was used regularly, prior to going into storage for the last six-or-so years. Its mileage is backed by old MoT test certificates and the interior, described as being in good original order, backs that up. The engine was rebuilt in around 2008 by Volkspeed Engineering: there are supporting invoices and photographs in the history file. Other bills are included from Aston Service Dorset, Davron and Timothy Stamper. After six years in storage some re-commissioning and attention to bodywork and chassis will be required, but the new owner has the choice of either adopting the currently en vogue 'oily rag' approach or taking this opportunity to effect a full, concours restoration.
