The blade bears frost etched engraving and the words 'Worcester Rifles' who were formed in 1859. The Gothic styled hilt is of brass and very ornate bearing the '39' and strung bugle of the Worcester Rifles volunteer regiment. It is believed that the Worcester Rifles saw service alongside the regulars in the Boer War
