Laurel sprays bearing Crimea honours surmounted by Guelphic crowned WATERLOO; within, a Maltese cross with lions between the arms and balls to the tips. To the centre, within title circlet, a crowned strung bugle. The arms of the cross bear numerous honours of the Regiment, THE PRINCE CONSORT'S OWN scroll to the base. Four screw posts to reverse, retaining original backing plate. Toned but VGC.

Crowned WATERLOO tablet on Maltese cross with attendant laurel sprays bearing honours highlighted in green enamel; centrally within green enamel RIFLE BRIGADE circlet, a crowned strung bugle. Scots Guards Other Ranks Bearskin A good example of unusual small proportions, possibly used by a Drummer or Bugle Boy. There appears to be no provision for plume on either side. Complete with graduated brass, leather backed chin chain. Leather lining and wicker frame to the interior. GC little service and age wear. Good shape.
Scottish. Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) Officers Shako. A good example, by Hawkes & Co. Black cloth, trimmed top and bottom with bands of black Thistle pattern lace. Black cords, attached by thistle ornaments and forming a plaited festoon in front. Bugle horn badge beneath a corded boss mounted with a mullet. Patent leather peak and chinstrap. Upright feather plume (black ostrich over black vulture) with ball socket and ring. Leather sweatband to the interior and retaining part of the silk lining, this with gold tooled tailors details. Complete with cap cords of regimental pattern. The shako retains a good shape, but with some age wear and stitching faults to the cord boss.
Queens Own Westminster Rifle Volunteers Other Ranks Rifle Cap circa 1901-08. A good example of the Rifle Cap made by Cater & Co. Fine grey cloth with scarlet piping to the welt. Light coloured cord festoon to front with lines to rear. Mohair cord oval boss to front mounted with a blacked metal crowned strung bugle below which is a blacked metal regimental Maltese cross badge. Horse hair plume of red over grey in cord boss holder. Leather sweatband to the interior. Overal GC fitted with a possible replacement strung bugle to the side, with the other side device absent. Chinstrap absent.

Good scarce white metal crowned thistle sprays bearing honours, Sphinx and Dragon (both on blank plinths) as well as title scroll. Mullet over strung bugle to voided centre. Four toned loops. Fine scarce silver on copper example burnished rectangular plate mounted with crowned strung bugle, Rose of the House of York lodged between the cords. Beneath the bugle, a floriated scroll 3RD WEST YORK. Two hooks and two studs; complete with leather liner. Reverse with evidence of filled holes. VGC HQ. Pontefract. Became the 3rd Battalion The York and Lancaster Regiment 1/7/1881.
Victorian Rifle Regiments Officer Sword. A good regulation example the straight blade with etched decoration of a crowned reverse entwined VR cypher. The hilt with a crowned bugle device within the guard and shagreen grip this with twist wire binding. Housed in with nickel plated scabbard. Overall GC some service wear and age wear. GC.

An example of the Light Infantry pattern, the blade with etched decoration of crowned VR cypher, strung bugle and a presentation panel PRESENTED TO Cr SERGT E STEWARD ON HIS PROMOTION TO QM SERGEANT FROM THE OFFICERS AND MEMBERS OF B COMPANY LIVERPOOL RIFLE BRIGADE. The hilt of the regulation pattern incorporating a strung bugle device. Scabbard absent. The sword has been professionally restored showing some service pitting. etching faint to parts.

Silvered Prince of Wales plumes and motto to velvet centre.

Good scarce die-stamped silvered crowned Maltese cross, lions between the arms, bearing circlet VB GLOUCESTERSHIRE REGT with applied SOUTH AFRICA 1900-02 below, voided centre bearing strung bugle with 2 lodged between the cords. Three screw posts to reverse. Central mirrored backing disc. VGC HQ at Gloucester. Battalion still using Victorian plates until 1908.

Designated as such in 1876 with the secondary title Royal Radnor & Brecknock Rifles. In 1881 became 3rd (Militia) Bn SWB. Provenance : Bosleys September 2005, Lot 140.
