A Juliette Verneuil gold lame 'goddess' dress, circa 1949-50, with embroidered label and atelier name 'A.Rolande' to the bolduc, the strapless corsetted bodice adorned with rhinestones, sequins and bugle beads, bust approx 81cm, 32in The Juliette Verneuil label was launched by Marcelle Chaumont as a demi-couture/ready to wear label. It was short lived as she closed her business in 1953 due to ill health. She had formerly worked with both Jeanne Lanvin and Madeleine Vionnet. This is an early example of a couturier forming a separate diffusion line. CONDITION REPORT: Good condition. Lame is lustrous and good. The interior seams are hand-locked couture style. Tarnishing and rubbing to fabric at underarms but not too serious. Label, which is embroidered in Vionnet's style, needs re-stitching at one end. Slight soiling to lining. Beading and sequinning good.

A Germaine Lecomte couture pink and blue chiffon dress, early 1950s, large woven Paris label, the intricately pleated bodice adorned with silver bugle beads and pastes, bust 81-86cm, 32-34in, waist 51cm, 20in CONDITION REPORT: First appearance is good and very pretty. Rayon petticoat hem has been raised, soiling along hem edge of chiffon over-skirt, repairs and holes along hem edge mainly rear left and right sides. Bodice is lacking quite a number of silver bugle beads from the foliate bands that cross it. L-shaped repair in chiffon near centre front hem. Approx 3 light brown stains to rear skirt, concealed within pleats when worn. Faint perspiration stains at underarms which are hardly visible.

Some losses of beads along edge of left underam, minor.

A few faint white soil marks to left underarm, minor. Seam at back panel needs re-stitching approx 3cm to left side, minor.

Brigham & Company, Springfield, Massachusetts, and two early 20th century long black velvet gowns, one with decorative diamante clasps on bodice and lace trim to neck and sleeves, various sizes and condition (21)
A c1900 Austro-Hungarian silver cigarette case of rounded rectangular form, with yellow metal thumb piece and gilt wash interior, the top hand painted with a roundel depicting a bust of a young huntswoman with a bugle to one side, with gilt wash interior, maker's initials 'OD' or 'CD' silver standard 800, possibly Vienna, 8.5 x 6.5cm, approx 3.8ozt. CONDITION REPORT Heavy tarnish and areas of pitting to the inside, mild scratches overall commensurate with age and some odd dots of pitting, and some surface wear. One slightly misshapen area next to the edge of the painting.

KING ST COVNT GARDEN LONDON, etched with scrolling foliage, THE KING'S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS over a strung bugle horn over 2ND SOUTH MIDDLESEX and crowned VR cypher, regulation steel Gothic hilt incorporating a crowned strung bugle horn and engraved JPR to the underside, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard, complete with leather knot.
EVIIR Rifle Brigade Sword to Howard Frome of the 8th Battalion London Regiment, 82cm grey blade etched with scrolling foliage, strung bugle horn and Royal cypher, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating a crowned strung bugle horn, the pommel marked RETURN TO HOWARD FROME, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard, chape repaired. A label attached to the sword mentions the 8th Battalion London Regiment Rifle Brigade. The 8th Battalion of the Rifle Brigade was not raised until 1914, too late for this sword. The 8th Battalion of the London Regiment was the Post Office Rifles.
A very scarce Napoleonic era special pattern 51st (2nd Yorkshire West Riding) Light Infantry Officer's sword, 71.5cm sharply curved broad blade by Osborne & Gunby, etched to one side 51LIGHT INF REG within a foliate panel and to the opposing side the Battle Honour MINDEN, regulation steel stirrup hilt composed from a single rounded bar and parting at the foot to create two separate rounded bars that form the crossguard, the back strap etched with a laurel spray and each of the langets etched with a strung bugle horn, wire bound fishskin grip, scabbard lacking. The 37th Regiment of Foot fought throughout the American War of Independence.

Complete with copy paperwork.
An 1822 Pattern Rifle Officer's sword, 82cm blade etched with scrolling foliage, crowned GVIR cypher and crowned Royal Arms, regulation plated steel hilt incorporating a crowned laurel wreath with strung bugle horn, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its plated mounted field service scabbard. Blade clean but rubbed, fishskin nibbled.

1854 Pattern British Rifle Volunteers Officers Sword, gilt brass gothic style guard with crowned VR cipher to the centre. Fish skin grip with the original wire. Black knotted leather sword knot attached. Housed in a black painted steel scabbard. Single edged blade etched with foliage, VR crowned monogram and strung bugle with Rifle Volunteers. Robert Mole & Sons retailers mark to the base of the blade. Some surface staining and edge nicks to the blade. The blade measures 82cm in length.
Selection of Pouch Plates, from various periods and regiments, including brass Victorian crowned VR cipher with three post fittings to the reverse, brass strung Light Infantry bugle with 1 to the centre and two post fittings on the reverse, 4x various bugle pouch badges, white metal crowned Staffordshire knot pouch badge, oval copper gilt shoulder belt plate with white metal Victorian crown and crossed Gurkha kukri knives, Devonshire regiment cast brass and white metal band pouch plate (missing one post on the reverse), plus other items. Victorian 16th Dorset Rifle Volunteers Cross Belt and Pouch, black leather cross belt with white metal crowned Maltese cross having DORSET RIFLE VOLUNS and fasces symbol to the lower arm, circlet to centre with PRO PATRIA and strung bugle with 16 within straps. Lion head boss with chain leading to whistle in its socket, appears silver but not hallmarked. Black leather pouch with white metal strung bugle having 16 to the centre. Some wear to the leather but generally still in good condition. Ex Colin Churchilll Collection.
Scarce 20th Middlesex (Artists) Rifle Volunteers Officers Field Service Cap, grey cloth body with white piped top section, curtain piped in silver twist wire, silver wire knotted central ball with silver (not hallmarked) rifle volunteers strung bugle and two white metal buttons with the Mars and Minerva heads with scroll underneath having Artists within. Interior with Hawkes & Co tailors mark. Some service wear to the interior but a very scarce item of headdress.
Great War French Chasseurs Adrian Helmet, retaining much of the original horizon blue paint finish. Complete with the original bugle helmet badge to the centre. Complete with the original leather liner to the interior which shows some wear and cracking in places. Chasseurs helmets are becoming increasingly harder to find.
