A late Vic officer’s sword of a Rifle Regiment, straight fullered blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, no 36264 on backstrap (for 1899), etched on both sides with crowned R Arms without supporters, reversed and interlaced VR cypher, and wreath, in foliate panels, with owner’s crest of a demi lion and motto “Nobilis Ira” on one side, regulation plated steel hilt incorporating crowned strung bugle, plain pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its plated scabbard. GC, the blade retaining virtually all original finish (hilt and scabbard plating rust bubbled). Plate 7
