Colonel Oswyn St. Leger Davies, commanding the 8th Lancashire Fusiliers, killed in action in France 5th April 1918' the bugle by Boosey and Hawkes, stamped with broad arrow and 1915 date, another bugle by Henry Potter with broad arrow stamp, and 1909, as well as R.E.L.F (Royal East Lancashire Fusiliers) another by Hawkes and Son dated 1915 and stamped S.D.F. (possibly later for the Sudan Defence Force) the last unmarked.The first bugle measures 28cm long

Westmeath Rifles Militia Officer’s Full Dress Busby c1874-78. A fine quality example, this short lived pattern was based on the 1869 pattern Line infantry shako, but without a peak. The stiffened body covered with black lambswool, the crown of black cloth. Black double cord sewn-in caplines supported by two black metal Garter-type stars, black lion's mask and ring ornament at the rear for the cap lines. Plated metal rose pattern side ornaments and ribbed plated velvet lined chin chain. At the front a large black metal coiled bugle horn with a plain black cord boss above. Buff leather sweatband and black silk lining. Complete with double black cord cap lines and olivets. No plume. Original black japanned metal carrying tin, this with Dublin Station labels (frayed). Traced to Sub-Lieutenant the Hon. T. K. D. St. Lawrence, very good condition £500-£700 --- Provenance: Howth Castle Sale, Dublin, October 2021. The Hon. Thomas Kenelm Digby St. Lawrence was born on 12 December 1855, the son of Thomas St. Lawrence, 3rd Earl of Howth, and was educated at Harrow. He was appointed a Sub-Lieutenant in the King’s Own Royal Tower Hamlets Militia in 1876, and by December of that year had transferred in the same rank to the Westmeath Rifles Militia. He was commissioned Lieutenant in the 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Dragoon Guards on 21 August 1878, and was promoted Captain on 19 December 1883. He served throughout the Egyptian Campaign of 1882 being attached to the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards (Medal with clasp and Khedive’s Star). During various home postings he led the mounted troops when quelling the Belfast Riots in August 1886. He was placed on temporary half-pay due to illness on 22 April 1891, and died from typhoid fever at Ardmore, Dublin on 8 May 1891. He is buried in the chancery of the old church of St. Mary’s Abbey, Howth, Dublin.

Etched foliage panels, crowned VR cypher and crowned strung bugle with scrolls engraved "Major Baines" "49th MX. R.V.". Forte with maker "G Robinson Maker Birmingham". Steel guard with Vic crown strung bugle cartouche. Steel stepped pommel and backstrap. Shagreen covered grip with twist wire binding. Contained in its plated steel scabbard. 30 % of plating absent. Stepped pommel and part checkered backstrap. Contained in its black leather scabbard with steel mounts. Complete with black leather knot. Victorian Welsh 1822/45 Infantry Officer's Sword Brecon Rifles 30 3/4 inch, single edged, slightly curved blade with large fuller. Traces of etched floral panels and "Brecon Rifles"?. Strung bugle and name within a scroll "G Howell". Brass Gothic guard with crowned "VR" cypher cartouche. Brass, stylised floral backstrap. Grip absent. Blade worn with heavy pitting to lower section. Victorian Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Presentation Officers Sword. A superb example of a mid Victorian presentation sword given to Captain Edmond Peel of the Newtown troop. The 36 inch, straight spear point blade with etched decoration depicting St.George and the Dragon, classical ladies and floral decoration. The pierced gilt guard, incorporates a Druid?s head surrounded by floral decoration. This encloses a shagreen grip with a gilt ram's head pommel. The steel scabbard with embossed mounts of a Cavalry helmet and bugle. The steel is engraved with a presentation PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN EDMOND PEEL BY THE MEMBERS OF THE NEWTOWN TROOP OF THE MONTGOMERYSHIRE YEOMANRY CAVALRY IN HONOUR OF THE OCCASION OF THE BIRTH OF A SON AND HEIR 1ST MARCH 1872. The overall condition is near VGC, gilt bright, etching clear. Some age wear to the steel of the scabbard presentation script faint to parts. Newtown was the home to the 3rd Troop of the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. PAYMENT BY BANK TRANSFER ONLY
Victorian Staffordshire (Patshull) Rifle Volunteers Officer's Presentation Sword. A magnificent example of a presentation Light Infantry pattern sword. The 32 inch slightly curved blade with three quarter length etched decoration. This including a crowned VR cypher, strung bugle with Stafford knot, Armourial crest and presentation. TO CHARLES EDWARD MOLINEUX ESQ. FROM HIS BROTHER NON-COMISSIONED OFFICERS OF THE 27TH STAFFORDSHIRE RIFLE VOLUNTEERS 1860. The forte with the cutler's details of Thomas Lawrence of Birmingham. The hilt is of the regulation pattern, the steel three bar guard with the addition of engraved decoration, which can also be seen to the backstrap of the grip. Complete with steel scabbard, this again engraved with the Armourial crest which can be seen to the blade. Overall GC good clean condition. Lieutenant Charles Edward Molineux in 1860 joined the 27th (Patshull) Corps of the Staffordshire Rifle Volunteers, of which he was a lieutenant until shortly before his death in 1880, he was also a Justice of the Peace for Worcestershire and Staffordshire.
