Krishna Rao PVSM and All Ranks of the Mahar Regiment on the Occasion of Sixth Reunion 9-11 Nov 1981', 15.5cm diameter, combined weight 9.5oz plus three related presentation plaques and copper bugle In 1946 the 25th Mahars were disbanded and its officers and men were absorbed into three battalions and in October of that year the regiment was converted into a Machine Gun Regiment, and the Regimental Centre was established at Kamptee, they served as part of the Punjab Boundary Force and took part in escorting refugees during the Partition of India. The obverse with entwined VR cypher and crown. Fixed guard of fire gilt metal bearing entwined VR Crowned Cypher. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding complete with buff sword knot. Housed in original steel scabbard now painted black. Etching to blade clear. The sword has been refurbished at some time and now with some minor wear to plating, traces of fire gilt to the hilt. GC.

Within bullion laurel sprays, a padded bullion Globe set on crossed silk Union flags surmounted by a bugle horn, in turn surmounted by a crown. Between the base of the Globe and that of the wreath, a bullion fouled anchor; beneath the wreath, a pair of crossed sabres. VGCThe Royal Marine Light Infantry amalgamated with the Royal Marine Artillery in 1923 to form The Royal Marines.

Rifle Brigade Officer’s Astrakhan Busby.A very fine scarce example of black wool body with dark green Melton cloth crown, this figured in Russia braid. To the front a dark green mohair cord boss mounted with a King’s Crown below this a blackened curled bugle. Complete with plaited mohair lines across the front, which rise to the side and are supported by two small bugle horns. Complete with black ostrich and vulture feather plume, this supported by a blackened ball boss. The interior is with leather sweatband and cotton lining, this with tailor’s details of Pulford & Son. Complete with patent leather thin chinstrap. Overall Very good. ... Contained in original metal storage tin, this with matching tailor’s details. ... Complimented with black cord busby lines. ... Also storage tin for plume (4 Parts)

West Kent Regiment (Light Infantry Militia) Victorian Officer’s ‘Albert’ pattern shako circa 18453-55.A fine rare short lived example. The body of black beaver skin with black patent leather crown, neck and front peaks. To the front a fine gilt crowned star bearing silver facetted star overlay mounted with gilt foliated ‘37’, Garter resting in bugle with domed silver centre bearing red enamelled Cross of St. George. A pair of silver bosses comprising circular straps ‘WEST KENT REGIMENT’ ornamented with ‘INVICTA’ scroll; centres mounted with White Horse of Kent, support the interlinked silver gimp chin chain with velvet backing. To the crown, an ornate gilt ball holder supports a large white over red wool ball tuft (pom-pom). Retains leather sweatband with adjustable top. Professionally restored. Minor service/age wear, generally VGCHQ. Maidstone. Reconstituted in 1759 the regiment was elevated to Light Infantry status only in 1853; the adoption of an oval plate at this late stage is rare but not unique. The regiment became the 3rd Battalion Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment in 1881.
