1920s Pale Green Silk Chiffon Beaded Dress, woven label ''Made in France'', dropped waist, gladiator panels to the skirt, beaded in clear bugle beads and others with silver coloured centre; together with a 1930s Brown Panne Velvet Short Jacket, long ties at the waist, labelled ''Glentor'', lined in brown silk, slightly ruched shoulders to elbow length sleeves; and a 1930s Green Velvet Short Jacket, long ties to front of waist, frilled neckline, elbow length sleeves, stitched detail to shoulders, partly lined in floral silk (3)Dress - has had alterations to neckline and armholes, shattered on the shoulders, discolouration to the front around the waist resulting in one small hole, the skirt panel is generally sound, some bead loss throughout. Brown jacket -good order. Green jacket - has had alterations to sleeves, silk lining is shattered.

A Victorian Rifle Volunteer officer's sword, regulation fullered blade etched with VR cypher and stringed bugle, steel 'gothic' hilt, steel scabbard, black sword bag. The sword of Henry Foulkes Kingdon, who was an expert in Marine Insurance and advised the government on such matters duiring the Great War. His obituary records that he has a 'keen volunteer', and he belonged also to the Victoria Rifles Lodge.

A single strand of beads has been resewn on rear back panel approx 15cm long, slight wear to black beading on seat area. Lining is generally good but wear mainly around the neck area. Centre back seam has been re-sewn (minor). Beading is good with occasional sequins.
A black bugle beaded chiffon evening dress, circa 1930, vertically beaded in leopard-spot effect, bias-cut, gored flared skirt, bust approx 81cm, 32in CONDITION REPORT: Repair to centre front point of skirt godet and two repairs to a hip seam, small repair rear neck edge. Brown discolouration to ground surrounding beads at rear hem, some of the beading threads have also discoloured to brown. Couture finished.

Perspiration stains at underarms and neck edge, lining only, not visible to exterior. Beading is good.
A Chanel couture 'Chess' dress, Autumn-Winter, 1986-87, bearing defilé label 'Atelier Colette, H 86, Robe 90', of black satin, the strapless bodice embroidered by Lesage with a chess-board and pieces in sequins, ivory and scarlet bugle beads, the bodice and skirt trimmed with sable, the skirt trimmed with bows, bust approx 86cm, 34in CONDITION REPORT: Good condition, superb embroidery, no obvious losses to beads or sequins. Dress is clean and fresh in appearance, looks little worn.
Dame Shirley Bassey's white sequined 'Harem' stage dress, designed by Douglas Darnell, late 1960s, of ivory devoré chiffon with graduated spots overall, the scanty diamond shaped bodice panels linked to the bias-cut skirt by bugle beaded straps, covered overall in Swarovski aurora borealis crystal and large mirror sequins to the skirt, bust approx 86cm, 34inThe harem or 'belly-dancer' dress was delivered by Darnell to the Prince of Wales Theatre, but he arrived late, running through the streets with the dress over his arm. However, the star couldn't fit inside the dress so Darnell recalled he 'clawed her bottom down into it - by which time she looked as though she'd been got at by a tiger'.Provenance: ex lot 49, Christies Auction 'Dame Shirley Bassey - 50 Years of Glittering Gowns', 18th September, 2003, sold for £4500. CONDITION REPORT: Some sequins lacking from breast cups, heavy losses mainly left breast. The matching back panels are good. Sequins missing from front stomach/hip areas. Slight soiling to hem edge. Lining has holes and snags at rear train. Few holes visible on upper side but concealed within beads and sequins.
A Jean-Louis Scherrer by Stephane Rolland embroidered tulle evening gown, Autumn-Winter, 2005-6, bearing handwritten defilé tag, look no 39, Edwardian-inspired with high neck edged in rhinestones, embroidered cameo to the bodice, covered in black bugle beaded scrolls, the velvet waistband with large rhinestone buckle, bust 81cm, 32in, waist 71cm, 28in CONDITION REPORT: A few small holes in the tulle on the bodice but minor. There is an expertly done triangular repair in tulle at rear hem, 14 x 9cm, not noticeable (minor). Slight soiling to rear organza petticoat hem edge (minor).

K.I.A. 7.1918, additionally stamped BOISDINGHEM 1916 1917, ST-OMER 1916, INCHY 1918, ST-ANDRE BOIS 1918 1916, stamped No 3. BAY. S.E.5.A., with cord tassels, 30.5cm long Captain Owen John Frederick Scholte M.C. was born in Hampstead, London and served during WWI with the Bedfordshire Regiment and 60th Squadron, Royal Air Force, he was accredited for 8 aerial victories and was killed in a motoring accident on 30 July 1918 aged 22, Scholte is commemorated in St. Riquier British Cemetery.
