Part of the collection was discussed, together with that of the Dukes of Westminster, amongst others, in the illustrated magazine Les Arts, in February 1905. The entire collection was subsequently dispersed in four sales, Catalogue des objets d'art et d'ameublement, anciennes porcelaines de Sèvres, pâte tendre, de saxe, de Chine... , jades et cristaux de roche chinois, objets de vitrines, éventails, rapes à tabac, sculptures, pendules bronzes et meubles ... dépendant des collections de feu M. Petit, the first sale taking place from 11 to 15 March 1907, the second sale from 29 April to 3 May 1907, the third sale from 27 to 31 May 1907 and the fourth sale from 5 until 7 June, 1907, with a total of 1923 lots. The form of these vases is known in three sizes and is listed as 'Vase hollandois' in the Sèvres factory records, they were intended for planting and growing bulbs. US CIVIL WAR PERIOD UNION BUMMERS CAP W/ A VERBAL ID TO A GETTYSBURG VETERAN, a blue wool, 6” tall in rear & 4 ½” in front, the top has a 5 ¼” diameter, its black leather visor extends 2”, w/ matching chin-strap &eagle side buttons, on the front is a brass company “G” button while on the top is a 3 ½” wide Infantry bugle in brass along w/ “120” above, inside is a brown cotton lining w/ a label “M. & G. No. 4.”, most of its 1 ¾” wide brown leather band is missing. The history of this is it belonged to Stephen Bleeker who served in the 120th NYV Co. G. 3rd Corps, was wounded at the Wilderness, he fought in Gettysburg & later was captured, condition wise this has some large holes upfront & other then the inside band this is in good condition, G++

An Imperial German Artillery Sword by Alcoso, the 84cm plain single edge fullered steel blade with maker's logo, the plated steel stirrup hilt with wire bound black plastic grip, with black painted steel scabbard and silver bullion thread portapee, 99cm; a Victorian Rifle Regiment Officer's Sword, the 80cm single edge fullered steel blade etched with crowned VR cypher, strung bugle and a family crest, by Maynard, Harrison & Rice, London, with Proved poincon, the silver plated steel gothic hilt with wire bound fishskin grip, 94cm, lacks scabbard; an Indian Kukri, the curved blade stamped ORDEP, NEPAL, with brass bolster and pommel to the horn grip, with leather scabbard and two sharpening knives (3)1 - Some scratching to blade. Plastic grip with a crack under the pommel. Portapee strap is broken. Rust pitting and wear to the paint on the hilt. 2 - Minor rust patches to blade towards the tip, wear to the etching. Lacks scabbard.
A Summer 1919 Callot Soeurs two-piece day dress, the top of silk and silk tulle with silk satin trim, the top bearing dated label to the interior, approx. 62 cm at waist, together with a silk crepe overshirt with crewel wool embroidery to the cuffs, waist and decorative panels variously, approx. 52 cm under arm to under arm, base of collar to hem approx. 104 cm and a circa 1900 silk chiffon under skirt with applied floral sprays, bugle beads and lace, waist approx. 68 cm, approx. 77 cm long CONDITION REPORTS The Callot Soeurs two piece- the top has significant holes to the lace and signs of moth and discolouration to the satin. The interior is badly discoloured and with holes throughout. Signs of moth. Bust size is approx 32". The skirt is more hole than skirt. The waist of the skirt is approx 24". The woollen crepe dress has a considerable amount of holes and damage, discolouration throughout and big holes underneath the arms. The chiffon skirt appears to be missing a central floral applied decoration to the front panel. There is considerable loose stitching to the central line on the skirt. Small areas of discolouration and small holes throughout. Waist size is approx 28". It looks as though the skirt has been altered with the stitching to the centre of the skirt. In a very fragile condition with wear and tear conducive with age, use and attic storage with items that have significant moth damage. See extensive and numerous images for further detail. Provenance: made in the early 20th Century for the then Lady Apsley then by descent.
