Imperial German Prussian Bugle, an all steel bugle, which was once all field grey painted, now only faint traces of the field grey paint evident with the Prussian eagle plaque mounted to the front. Maker marked and clearly dated ‘1918’, complete with mouthpiece and attached securing chain. Some small holes. Featured in Feldzug 18 page 183.
Imperial German Bavarian Bugle, a magnificent condition Bavarian field bugle, still having much original field grey paint remaining, complete with its original mouthpiece, which is secured to the bugle with a security chain, its long leather carrying strap with large oval Bavarian coat of arms plaque to the top of the bugle. Maker marked and clearly dated ‘1916’. The leather strapping would appear to come from a manufacturer very similar to the manufacturer of the GEW 98 rifle straps. Featured in Feldzug 16 page 24.
Saxon M.15 Enlisted Mans Shako, a scarce helmet being an excellent condition Saxon enlisted mans shako. The felt covering to the body is without any moth damage, complete with its field grey Saxon front plate with bugle horn base indicating Jager unit, its correct leather chinstrap with field grey fittings, the small size national and state cockades. To the interior the mid tan leather sweatband all complete and undamaged, marked ’55.5’ to the upper inner crown in size and heavily army corp marked ‘B.A.XII’( army corps 12 ) with following date of ‘16’. Fully described and illustrated on pages 132 and 133 of Feldzug 16.

Weller, MBE, Ph.D, FISC, traded for many years as 'Sam Weller Minerals' following an interest held from the age of 12 years when he inherited a 19th century family collection; he was a member and sometime President of the Royal Geological Society of Cornwall and a member of Cornwall Archaeological Society (born Cornwall, 31 March 1931"). He had joined the RAF as a young man and spent 22 years in developing sophisticated military radar technology (for which he was awarded his MBE) until he medically retired in 1969, after which he established Yonder Town Field Studies Centre in Newquay, Cornwall before moving to Pendeen. Sam has now decided that the time has come to part with his private collection of minerals, including a number from historic Cornish sites, some with 19th century pedigrees. An unusual table lamp of military interest, formed from a copper and brass naval bugle with badge for Gibraltar Royal Marines, with three shell case pen holders and presentation plate 'The Bugle represents the 'Corps of Drums' of H.M. Fine group of three Second World War medals awarded to Lieutenant William Blewitt 3rd Parachute Regiment, who was killed in action on 6th January 1943 in Operation Torch in North Africa, aged 20. The group comprises - 1939 - 1945 Star, Africa Star with 1st Army clasp, War medal 1939 - 1945 with M.I.D. oak leaf. Sold with a fine portrait photograph of Lt. Blewitt in uniform with cloth Para wings in mount and original frame with L.I. bugle badge and a contemporary press cutting of his gallant death. Sold in Spink glazed medal case. Lieutenant William Blewitt was born in 1922. He was the son of Lt. Colonel Guy Blewitt D.S.O., M.C. The contemporary press account states how 'during a gallant action by his company in the storming of Green Hill near Bizeria, the young Lieutenant from Essex, with the help of a Sergeant, stalked two German machine gun posts. Having destroyed the first, he signalled his success by two blasts on a hunting horn, but fell dead immediately afterwards while throwing a grenade into the second post. His Company Commander described how the shrill note of the horn was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. William Blewitt has sounded his horn for the last time and, like many before him, has given his life unfinchingly for his country'. Lieutenant Blewitt is buried at Tabarka Ras Rajel War Cemetary, Tunisia

Probably manufactured by Ward & Co., of St Anne Street, Liverpool, a small copper/brass bugle with nickel-plated edging to the oval trumpet and mouthpiece extension.
