Bugle to the 24th foot. Made in copper and brass with a large badge, consisting of "24" in brass, surmounted by a sphinx. The device appears to be contemporary to the bugle and attached by rivets. On the mouth piece chain is a small brass label with a collection no.152. Some service wear.

The Bute Battery provided the first canons on the ground immediately after the infantry had secured the beaches in the south of the peninsula at Helles Point, Gallipoli on the 25th of April 1915. Fitzroy, Rifle Brigade, (serial number 12817), the 81.5cm blade by `Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall, London`, etched `R.B.` with strung bugle and foliate scrolls, and initials `C.V.F.` beneath heraldic lion, pierced steel guard with Coldstream Guard crest, wire-bound fish-skin grip, stepped pommel, 94.5cm overall, in its steel scabbard. Captain Charles Vane Fitzroy (1836-1871), commissioned Captain in the Rifle Brigade 25.3.1856, entitled to the 5th Class Order of Medjidie. The record from the Wilkinsons Archive states that a Dress Rifle Sword with Solid Toledo, Letchen Point Blade was finished by Henry Wilkinson on 20th October 1863 and sold to Fitzroy Esq. (1)
