OCT 31ST 1871, the pierced steel hilt chiselled with acanthus scrolls and a crowned strung bugle horn, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard.

82.5cm clean blade by MAPPIN BROS London Bridge, profusely and finely etched with scrolling foliage and strap work, crowned VR cypher, ornate stand of arms CAMBRIDGESHIRE RIFLES and the presentation inscription, PRESENTED TO CHARLES CATLING ESQRE CAPTAIN OF THE 5TH CAMBRIDGESHIRE RIFLE VOUNTEERS BY THE OFFICERS, NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND PRIVATES UNDER HIS COMMAND MARCH 10TH 1863, the white metal hilt finely pierced and chiselled with scrolling foliage, oak leaves, acorns and a crowned strung bugle horn, back strap and pommel decorated to match, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its white metal mounted leather scabbard decorated to match. He was High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire in 1880 and resided at Needham Hall.

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994) - Production-made Portland Daily Bugle Newspaper Cover, Envelope, and PostcardA Portland Daily Bugle newspaper cover, envelope, and postcard from the production of Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption. Warden Norton (Bob Gunton) read a news story about corruption at Shawshank after Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) escaped from the prison, Dufresne helped Tommy Williams (Gil Bellows) try and earn his GED from the Board of Education, and prisoners received letters and postcards at the prison.The black-and-white Portland Daily Bugle newspaper cover was made for production but ultimately unseen onscreen. It is dated "Monday, August 1966" with a photograph of an orchestra and several unrelated headlines, including "'Flying Saucers' Photo Released by Coastguard," printed throughout. The interior and back pages feature additional filler text and advertisements. The yellow paper envelope is addressed to Mr. Thomas Williams at his Shawshank Prison address and features a stamped Board of Education return address and Augusta postage dated 05 June 1966. Also included is a postcard to "Jr. Achiever" from "Louise" featuring a black and white photograph of a woman labelled "Minerva Gil." The newspaper cover exhibits some wear along the folds, and the envelope and postcard exhibit staining along the edges. A H.M.S. Eggesford Ship’s Crest. A large cast iron ship’s crest, 360mm diameter, approximately 10.5kg, depicting on a field of white and blue waves a red goat’s head, gorged with a gold chain, from which is suspended a gold bugle horn, ‘Eggesford’ above, generally good condition £60-£80 --- H.M.S. Eggesford, a Type III Hunt-class destroyer with a complement of 168, was built by J. Samuel White, Ltd., Isle of Wight, and was launched on 12 September 1943. She entered service in January 1943, carrying out convoy escort, patrol and anti-shipping attacks for most of the rest of the Second World War. She was awarded the battle Honours Sicily 1943, Salerno 1943, Adriatic 1944, and South France 1944. She went into reserved in 1952, and was sold to the West German Navy in 1957, finally being scrapped in 1969. Please note that this lot is not suitable for shipping, but can be hand delivered within mainland Britain by prior arrangement.

A vintage military style brass and copper bugle. Fitted with a brass Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders badge, a detachable mouthpiece, and a cord grip. Notes: no apparent maker marks or dates. Unknown date of manufacture, but clearly has been polished over a good amount of time, plus has some dents in places. Approximately 29cm length. Condition: some shallow dents in places, ingrained old polish to badge area. Some crude soldering to in places. Partly detached safety chain to the mouthpiece.
A scarce late Victorian 1890’s / Boer War era printed military souvenir handkerchief. Showing various scenes of army life, medals of the era, signalling instructions, bugle calls, and to the centre are the schematics of a Lee Metford rifle. Printed in black and red on a cotton fabric, with hemmed edges. Approximately 58.5cm x 54cm. Condition: generally good. No holes or tears to the fabric, just a few tiny pin holes along the top edge where it has been pinned to a wall in the past. Strong colours to the printed surface, with some minor brown staining / foxing in places, but these don’t detract.
